FINALLY.

She thought the class would never end! With every second that she stayed in class it increased the likelihood of someone finding the massacred plant and pointing it out to the Professor who would have most likely freaked. This was all a lesson learnt...the child was terrible with plants; well maybe not with plants but definitely with pruning and weeding them.

Never again.

Alexa grabbed up the tools that she was supposed to have been using and threw them into the cupboard thingy then grabbed the stuff the Professor called compost and threw that in the compost place thingy. She took a last look at the area she was in. It was clean, yes? Good. Now she could leave.

"Bye Professor!" She practically yelled as she bolted from the Greenhouse. The woman seemed like the type to take her plants' care seriously and Lex had a feeling she wouldn't have appreciated what she had done to one of them just now.

Ethan glanced back and forth between the plants as he worked and Cora as she spoke. He smiled lightly, happy to share his expertise in one of the verrry few things he was actually good at (and enjoyed). As she discussed her education, Ethan did some mental math and thought for a moment. "So that makes you... a fourth year?" he asked, a bit surprised. Ethan was sure she was at most a second year due to her size, but fourth year made her more of a peer... and that was better, somehow. "Well, to be honest," Ethan lowered his voice and leaned a bit closer as he didn't want to make it overly obvious that he knew next to no one. "This is actually my first year at Hogwarts. I spent the last four at a school called Beauxbatons." So they were both fairly new.

The Ravenclaw boy straightened up and gave an appraising look at their completed work. "You seem to have a way with plants. You do quite well with them," Ethan told Cora brightly as they neared the end of the row. He got the idea that she seemed to think she was inadequate, which wasn't the case at all. The fifth year was certain they wouldn't be anywhere near finishing if the girl was rubbish at Herbology. "Staking it is, then," Ethan agreed to Cora's suggestion as they finished. He picked up both of their empty buckets and placed the tools inside. "I'll put these away, you grab some stakes?"

Ethan looked up as the professor spoke. Five minutes? That was hardly enough time to stake any plants. At least properly. Well, at least he'd get the buckets put away and see what he could do.

With her wand. RIGHT. Beezus knew that. She just panicked...a bit. Not wanting to get on Sierra' Greingoth's bad side. But oh, this wasn't going well as she'd expected. After rubbing her hands against each other in an attempt to brush the dung on her glove away, the Ravenlaw pulled out her wand from its holster and scourgified the Prefect's glove. There, happy?

Really though, did Sierra not like dung? It was very helpful. On plants. OH. That totally made sense...or not. Adding dung on the plants meant a hands-on intervention which means, either she liked it or not, dung would ALWAYS get on her gloves. "Well, we do have our own ---"

O________________________O Water Spray on Sierra? Was it a joke? "....preferences..." the brunette added in almost a whisper. Who would do something like that?! And before Beezus could turn her head to the direction of the water's origin, Sierra already uttered Oakey's name.

Oooops.

This time she didn't have anything to do with the mess. When the two started shooting words between each other, Beezus stood, almost frozen as she listened. No, she didn't want to say anything. Getting into trouble wasn't on her plans. So she allowed the two to carry on with discussing their differences while she slowly pocketed her wand and headed to the storage cupboards to get stakes.

"Is that all?" Sierra said with a smirk, trying to downplay his new wand. She did take a longer look at it, though. A graphorn core? Weren't those sort of rare? Boo, Oakey Gunter. She shrugged and turned back to the repotting. Apparently, things were wrapping up, and then they were DISMISSED!

After adding all the soil, fertilizer, and water to the new pot, Sierra carefully removed the big plant out of the small pot it'd grown up in. She was careful to do this without damaging any roots. She knew Bentley would have a fit if she did. She positioned the plant in place then began adding dirt to the pot to support the plant.

Oh, and she heard Bentley West's question, too. She wanted the weeds in the compost pile. Sierra would do that just as soon as she was done repotting this plant.

Well... but... but! Vivi had a handful of stakes, plus she'd abandoned a bucket of dung over by Milton, and she just wasn't prepared to wrap things up and head inside yet. She stared at the stakes in her hand, suddenly determined to make use of them before she left the greenhouse.

There. Sierra was potting some taller plants, and Vivi stepped in beside the girl, propping up the plant as she packed in soil around the roots. "I'm going to stake this one when you're done repotting it. It looks sort of droopy and sad right now, doesn't it?"

Sierra was so focused on repotting the plant that she nearly didn't hear Vivi talking about staking the plant when she was done. Realizing that somebody was talking to her, she paused and glanced up. "Oh, yeah...sure," she said. "Maybe it's just mad that it was living in such a small space." That sounded like a Puffer thing to say, but it was true. The poor plant was just...hanging there...in that tiny pot it'd been in for Merlin knew how long.

She patted down the rest of the soil then stood up. "Aguamenti!" she said, giving the soil a little shower. "Finite," she said, ending the spell then stepping away. "Well, there ya go. Stake away." Branxton wasn't so bad after all, it seemed. Sierra might be able to forgive the fact that she hung out with the likes of Tori Bunbury.

"I'm not sure I'm on board with the idea that plants have higher emotions. I don't even believe that pets do, so... it's a stretch," Vivi shook her head in amusement. The plant wasn't sad about the size of its pot. It had basic needs for survival, and the pot was not meeting those needs. Easy as. And Sierra got that...

"I'm not singing to the plants." Her voice dropped to a whisper as she finished staking off Sierra's plant and moved on to those nearby. If singing to plants was a requirement to pass, she'd do it. But if it was optional... Vivi was not a singer.

She stuck the last of her stakes into the soil and turned to Sierra once again. "Are you about finished?"

One more patch of weeding should do it.

He added the remnants of weeds from his second batch with what he had gotten with his first round so he could clean them up easier when he was finished. Gideon then moved on to another small clump of plants within his work area so he could weed them. These weeds looked different so he quickly checked his book to see that they werent actually useful plants before going to town cleaning them out of the dirt. That was the last thing he wanted...to actually pull out the wrong things.

Once he had a good idea that they were more likely than not weeds, the prefect started pulling them out one by one. It seemed to take some more time and effort this time around, Gideon taking extra care as the weeds had gotten more interwoven within their nicer counterparts. But eventually he was done, the boy brushing off his gloves when he was through.

West was perfectly happy working on his own, unlike most of the class who seemed to be all social and whatnot. It was just West and the plants and he was giving them all the right kind of love and attention. He stroked the plant's leaves -you know, lovingly- and checked again that he'd packed it in right and all. Sorted. He put it back in its place, since it sorta seemed like the professor had her herbs arranged just so and West wasn't about to muck that up, and then he scooped up all the weeds and put them in the bucket he'd been using, making sure to grab every last scrap of it from the ground.

He took that bucket over to the compost and emptied the weeds in there, feeling oddly like he should wave goodbye or something. Weird. BUT he was done! So West went over and cleaned up the little bit of spilled soil and generally made sure he had done good. Yup, he was awesome. Even if he'd only repotted one plant. He'd done heaps of weeding though. He was good at weeding. And composting. And loving of plants.

The second year took his gloves off and shook them out before putting them away and collecting his things. His book and whatnot. He glanced at the professor wondering if they had homework and assumed they'd find it out later. Were they handing in their activity sheet grid things? He guessed so. He went ahead and did that and then, even though it was time to leave, decided to have one last look around at the herbs that were growing. Just on account of he was here and interested.

His eyes shifted to the left and to the right of him. They knew the Muggle lullaby obviously, and although he has heard of it, he's probably only heard it sung all the way through only ONCE in his life.

The urge to just keep his lips sealed and make like an oak tree was very tempting, but the boy was raise with too much manners to just not be a team player in cases like this. So from an oak tree he made into a willow tree-- the nice leafy variety of course-- and started to sway with the group, humming along, trying to sing snippets of the lyrics that were almost always delayed or completely off altogether. ".... little scar-- star, how.. hmmm hmmm... up on top-- above, the word (silence).....TWINKLE twinkle little star... how (could not decipher the rest)-- ARE! "

There! He sang! And danced! Is this the part where they were supposed to clap?

Anya closed her eyes when Milton grabbed her arm. A look of intense concentration briefly flashed across her face. An accident. Right.

"Yeah. Sorry." she mumbled before opening her eyes again. "Haven'tbeensleepingwell. Bit of a short temper..." she said before adding in a forced chuckle.

Yeah. This was not awkward at all. "It's not like you would intentionally stab me with garden tools..." Yeah... and now she was making it worse.

"So. No harm done. Probably won't even bruise..." And luckily the Professor just said class was ending. "I should... not be here anymore." She helped two plants. That was enough for one day. Now, where did she put her bag? She needed to pack up and... be out of there.

Alyssa was surprised that time was almost up. She quickly joined Belle where she had finished pruning her plants.

"Okay I guess it is my turn to water these plants."

Taking out her wand, Alyssa concentrated on the spell and how much water she wanted to flow from her wand. Then pointing it into the first planter, she said,"AGUAMENTI" and water immediately began to flow out.

Alyssa kept an eye on the soil that she was watering as she didn't want to drown the plant. Once the soil was moist enough she stopped the flow of water by saying ,"FINITE"

Alyssa then moved on to the next plant.

"Yep, I'm a fourth year," Cora said very matter-of-fact. "But I'm not sure if that counts or not." Cora could tell he was surprised. Her size DID fool people. "Aren't you surprised?" she giggled.

Oh! He's a fifth year? Cora thought he went about things like he knew everything, and she found it hard to believe that he was practically newer than she was. "Oh, really? I would never have guessed." She had tons of questions to ask him about his old school, but she was running out of time, so she settled for one. "Did you like it there?"

Cora blushed as Ethan complimented her work. "Thank you. I don't know about that. This is actually fun, though." Cora was about to follow Ethan's instructions and grab the stakes when she heard the professor. Would that be enough time to stake any plants? She wasn't sure. Regardless, she grabbed both buckets, which were now almost empty, and said, "I'll take these back, and we can see if we have enough time to stake anything." Cora happily took the supplies back.

Alyssa looked at her watch and the number of plants that she still needed to water. 'Come on Lyssie. You can do this. Stop wasting time.'

Alyssa decided that it would be a lot faster of she used a watering can. So she ran over to the tool shed and removed a watering can and walked back quickly to the planters that still needed watering. Pointing her wand inside the can, she said,"AGUAMENTI" and let the water flow out of her wand. Once the watering can was full, she ended the spell by saying, "FINITE".

Alyssa then picked up the watering can and started sprinkling water into each of the planters, making sure that as she did so that she didn't overwater the plants, neither did she miss any one of them.

When the watering can was empty, Alyssa pointed her wand back into the can again and repeated the spell and once the watering can was full of water again, she ended the spell, pickd up the watering can and sprinkled the next rows of plants.

When she finally reached the last row, she heaved a sigh of relief and emptied the last drops of water into the last planter. Now it was time for her to clean up.

She carried the bucket filled with dead stems and leaves back out to the compost heap and emptied the contents onto it. Carrying the bucket back to the tool shed, Alyssa cleaned both the watering can, bucket and pruning shears by pointing her wand at them and saying, "SCOURGIFY". Once the equipment were cleaned, she returned back to the tool shed from where she had taken them from.

Alyssa was feeling tired but she went over to where Belle was.

"Thanks for agreeing to work with me. I'm sorry that I took so long to water your plants. Maybe we can work together again sometime." Alyssa smiled at Belle before going to where she had left her backpack and packing up her things, she approached Professor Bentley and said.

"Thank you for the lesson Professor. I apologize for my confusion about where the fireseed bushes were. I won't make the same mistake again. Have a nice day." Alyssa nodded to the Professor before making her way out of the greenhouse and back to the castle

Milton saw that look - whatever it was - and he immediately let go of her arm. Yeah, he had no idea what was going on. That happened a lot between them, especially recently.

"Right..." he said slowly. And then it was awkward. Ugh. Milton glanced up at Bentley when she announced that class was ending, thankful for the distraction. Anya seemed to be eager to get as far away from him as possible, too. Wonderful. "See you around," he mumbled, turning back to his bucket of fertilizer.

After slipping his gloves back on, Milton crouched down by a plant and dug his hand into the bucket (EWWW) and got some fertilizer in his hand. Then he spread it around the ground until it looked just about right. Lovely.

Since Jory had completed all the tasks, he began to clear up. He replaced the watering can and then made one last check on the plants he had worked on.

“Thanks for another great lesson, Professor,’’ he told her as he made his way out of the Greenhouse. It definitely was. He had learnt a lot more about herbs in one lesson today.

What was that second task for the lions? Right...prunning...and there just so happened to have been something he saw that needed such care in his earlier travels. Gideon went to check on it to see if another student had gotten to it, but it still remained in need of some tlc. He took out his wand and proceeded to cast the pruning spell upon the plant. One simple movement of his wand to care of this one branch. Repeat on other side. Continue to repeat until satified with the look.

There...it certainly looked better now then when he had started. Then seeing as the lesson was wrapping up Gideon picked up all the weeds he had pulled out of the soil beds and clippings he had just made and carried them over to the compost. No time to leave a mess.

After that first plant was taken care of, Milton searched around for another plant that needed fertilizer. It was hard to find any, since most of his housemates had beat him to it (which he didn't really mind), but he eventually found one near the back.

Milton crouched down again and grabbed some more fertilizer out of the bucket. The smell was really starting to drive him insane. Ugh. He just wanted to finish. Thankful for his gloves, Milton spread it around the plant and patted it down a little bit until it looked good. Now, just one more and he was good to go!

"Yeah, that's about it..."
He kept a watchful eye on Sierra as she did her potting. She may have seemed less-than-impressed with his wand, but the gleam in her eyes as she stared it down made Oakey holster his wand and move back over to where he began away from the She-Snake.

A safe distance away from Sierra now Oakey took his pretty cool wand back out and bent over. He would need to be careful with his cutting as his wand seemed to like to go an extra mile with the simple spells. "Diffendo" Oakey said softley and a dead leaf from one of the herbs carefully. Now he just needed to repeat this a few more times. It'd be a little easier if he didn't have to hold the herb up while pruning it though. "He looked over towards the Cupboards and spotted Beezus gathering some stakes. "Beezus bring them over here." He said to the Ravenclaw..."please." No need to be rude Oakey Gunter, you've already sprayed a Slytherin in the face with a burst of water.

Kurumi ended up sort of giggle snorting the rest of the song when she heard Vickers 'sing' Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. She wasn't laughing AT him, and hopefully he knew her well enough and trusted her to realize this fact, but it was sort of endearing the way he was trying and...just not getting it. Which is why she gave the Ravenclaw's hand a quick squeeze before the group finished singing the song and sort of circle dancing around the flowerbed. Once they had, Kurumi dropped the hands holding on to Vickers and Juliet and glance over at Professor Bentley when she spoke to the class.
Oh, perfect timing.

"Um...I think that about does it for this flowerbed..." Kurumi managed to say between soft giggles.
Kurumi then turned her attention to Minerva and shook her head softly. "Thanks for working with us. We needed someone from each house to help with the flowerbed to get everything done." So really, they needed to be thanking her too. House unity...very sneaky there professor, very sneaky.

After casting Scourgify on her gloves, Kurumi returned them to her bag and gathered the rest of her things before making her way towards Professor Bentley to dismiss herself. Which she did with a single polite bow in the woman's direction and then it was back up to the castle she went.

The weeding and pruning had gone quite nicely and the growing pile of oranic matter were proof to her exploits. The beds lookded nice and clean. Now she had to give it love, "Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how i wonder what your are..." she sang it softly at first, yet as she sang it more, her confidence grew and she raised her volume. Mysteriously the plants were leaning towards her now. There had been a study about one hundred years before about the effect of music on plants. Singing to plants gave them carbon dioxide.Also plants preffered calmer music to funky fast music.
Then, she was dismissed. She took her pile of organic things to the compost bin in the back. "thank you professor for the lesson!" Sarah said.

Two stakes in hand, Beezus looked over the direction where she left Sierra and Oakey, but the Hufflepuff wasn't there anymore. It was only Sierra and that older Ravenclaw that she still didn't know the name. Hmm. So the feud between the Puffer and Snakette had been resolved? Beezus heaved a sigh of relief. There wasn't any need for any fight to occur just because Sierra had been smothered with dung and water. Quidditch did more than that and the Prefect was a Beater.

She was about to seek some plants that needed stakes for support when she heard Oakey command call her. What is it this time Gunter? Are you going to sprinkle me with water too, Beezus thought but she shuffled towards him nonetheless.

Bring them over here?! UHH. How...rude. A frown started to form but then vanished after a few seconds. He did say please afterwards. Hmmp.

"Here." She uttered as she arrived where he was, handing over the stakes. "Oh, on second thought, I was supposed to do the staking." With a chuckle, she pulled back the tools and stuck them on the soil, making sure it wasn't too close to the plant so it wouldn't hit the roots, adjusting it a bit, then letting the plant lean on it. Okay, get on the pruning Oakey!

Shaking off the soil that had landed on her, Emmanuelle checked the pot to see how much had actually ended up in it. It was more than she'd thought. Surprisingly, it seemed to be enough. So, she patted down the soil around the plant and then it occurred to her that she should probably water it too. She aimed her wand at the soil in the pot. "Aguamenti!" When there seemed to be enough water, she canceled the spell. There, all done.

Now it was time to clean up. Ugh. Em grabbed a broom and swept up the soil, and dumped it in the compost pile. She didn't have enough confidence in her Scorgify to trust that it would actually clean up the stuff from the floor. But, she cast a quick one on herself. That being done, she gathered her things and said a quick "Bye professor!" before leaving the greenhouse.

Merlin's beard. At first Juliet just thought they were kidding about the whole singing and dancing thing but according to Kurumi, they had done this before. Really????? Juliet giggled softly hearing to that but it's not like it's not a good idea. Plants are pretty much like them, in order to grow beautifully, they need to be nurtured enough. So singing and dancing could be an option but quite frankly, it's a very weird option.

Then they started singing to it. Vickers hummed to some of the lyrics. Juliet swayed from left to right. She knows the melody but not the lyrics. Twinkle twinkle, little star. How I wonder what you are.--- That's weird. Why would you ask a star how it is. Is it capable of answering back to such questions?

After finishing the whole song, Juliet smiled as she glanced her eyes to all of them. This is an interesting way of dealing with plants. But hey, no arguments here.

And ALAS, class has now officially ended when Professor Bentley announced their dismissal. Juliet dropped Kurumi's and Minerva's hand as she combed her hair with her fingers. Hooray! It's time to leave which meant, it's time to have something to eat at the great hall. Juliet waved her hands to the people that had helped her today with this activity. Really, they have been such big help to her. "Thank you guys. It's really fun doing this activity with you" and especially the singing and dancing part. It's odd but it's still fun.

Juliet then placed the small trowel back into its proper place and with a scourgify spell, she cleaned her gloves. She then picked up her bag and bid her goodbyes to the 3 people. Tall Vickers, Prefect Kurumi and Happy Minerva. "See you guys around" she said. Walking towards the professor Juliet grinned at her "Thanks for today professor. Had so much fun." indeed she did.

Oakey had moved onto a different herb and cut off a dried stem when he felt something smack into his hand. He gripped the objects and pulled them closer to see what they were? Stakes..."Beezus I th..."
Before He could finish telling the Ravenclaw that she was supposed to do the staking she snatched them back from him and staked two herbs for him elsewhere.

He finished up the plant he was on and moved on to one of the plants that Beezus had propped up for him. "Diffendo" a few more dead leaves dropped to the ground. "Thanks Beezus." Oakey said almost forgetting to properly thank the Ravenclaw girl.

He would pack up and leave as soon as he was finished with the last plant.
