"Knock, knock," she said, sliding the compartment door open. Oh, there was a Puffer inside, too. Hmm. "Room in here for one more?" she asked.
Just as Cece had told Jacen to get out she heard someone knocking, and then the door opening. Looking to see who it was she was about to tell them to go away, until she seen who it was. "Sierra. Of course there's room in here for you. Come in and have a seat." Patting the seat next to her she smiled at the girl.
Looking from Sierra to Jacen she figured she better introduce them. "Sierra this is Jacen." She failed to mention that he was her cousin. What was the point when the boy didn't even want to be around her. "Jacen, this is Sierra. She's one of the Slytherin Prefects." And someone who didn't mind being seen with the healer.

Sierra grinned. She had so much respect for this woman. SO MUCH RESPECT. She wouldn't be forgetting what the Healer did for her family anytime soon. If ever. "I was hoping there would be," she said, taking the seat the Healer offered. Her gaze lingered on the Healer for a split second and then she looked over at the boy.
A Puffer, but a friend of the Healer's, apparently. "Hi, Jacen," she said then turned her attention back to the Healer. "So, how are you feeling?" she asked. "...and what are you on the train for?" Not that she minded, but it wasn't a usual site to see.

"Of course there's room for you. There's always room for you... and your family." At least Sierra and her family appreciated Cece, which was more than she could say for her own family right now.
"I'm feeling good." A bit moody at times but okay. "I thought it would be best if I rode the train this time. You know..." She then trailed off. Sierra would know what she was talking about. "Plus I told my aunt I'd make sure he got to school," she said inclining her head towards her cousin.
Yes that's right Mr. I don't want to be seen with you. Cece had just put it out there that he needed to be escorted to school. If he didn't want to be around her then she was going to give him a damn good reason not to want to be around her.
*Jacen rolled his eyes at Cece. He was trying to be nice here. Even though his cousin would pants him in church and steal his food. That absolutely did NOT make sense. Who scratched themselves with their FEET? The notion was absolutely preposterous. He was just about to say as much when suddenly...

Dustin looked around at the flickering lights and a single thought passed through his mind: strobe lights = DANCE PARTY! So, of course, he began to get jiggy wid it.

Again, Sierra grinned at the Healer. "You're amazing, you know that?" she asked. "Not many people would do the things you do." ...and it wasn't often that Sierra was full of comments like that. Seriously, though, the Healer deserved it. Sierra nodded. "Makes sense," she said in agreement. "Well, I'm glad you did. Gives me somebody to talk to." ...and again, it wasn't often that Sierra found reason to simply chat with somebody. Her eyes traveled up to the boy once again. "...and, who is he to you?" Because it was obvious they'd known one another for a while.

Besides, the kid was rolling his eyes at the Healer, and anybody who could get away with doing that without getting killed had to have some kind of history with the Healer. Well, it looked like he was getting away with it. The Healer hadn't struck yet. She grinned at him. "It's cool to meet you, too," she said.

She was about to say something else when the lights began to flicker on and off, on and off... Oh, come on. Who was messing with the lights?! Were there even switches somewhere that someone could pull? Sierra didn't remember seeing any. "What ha---...?" She didn't get to finish that thought, though. Seriously, though. What was happening?
She eyed the Healer. Okay, staff member on board. Get up and save the day!
Ariella nodded toward Lesta, she was sure that the sorting hat would place her in the right house regardless of what house her family members had been sorted into in the past. "He's only 8 years old, but he'll be turning 9 soon, I also have a younger sister!" Ari listened to Sylvia as she also added that she had an older and younger brother, Ari always wished she had older siblings, "Do you guys have any other brothers or sisters?"
It was really interesting learning about Hogwarts, and just the thought of learning Ari's first spell in only 7 days or less made the butterflies in Ariella's tummy flutter around even more than it already was...

Silvia glanced outside the train window. They had been on the train for some time now, and it was beginning to get dark out. The train's lights were already on. She turned back to face her companions. "We should be almost to Hogwarts," she said with a smile, knowing the excitement and increasing anticipation the two first years would be feeling right now.
Suddenly, the lights in their compartment flicked off, and then back on. "That's odd," said Silvia. "I wonder what caused it." Then the lights flicked off and on again, and continued to do so. That wasn't normal, and it wasn't like there was any storm or anything else to interfere with the electricity. "I wonder if there is a malfunction with the train." Or maybe someone was just playing a prank? It was then that she noticed the train seemed to be slowing down as well. "We shouldn't be there just yet, unless I'm not estimating correctly." She looked out the window again but didn't see anything. So what was wrong with the lights and why were they slowing down?

Travis quietly read one of the books that daddy had given him for the year. It was really old, it was supposedly 'Old English' but there was nothing English about it. He was pretty sure he recognized some German words... not like he could understand those either.
Eventually he had given up, and just sat watching people moving about. It was quite entertaining really. If a Psychologist wanted to study teenagers, this would definitely be one of the first places Trav would point them.
Wait... What was with the lights. Travis grabbed his backpack, and hugged it close to his chest. He stared around looking for some sort of explanation. It almost felt like they were even slowing down. No, maybe. It could be. What on earth could possibly be going on.
Trav hugged his bag closer every time the lights flickered.

Dylan was still standing there with Odessa...when the train starting to...spaz with the lighting. Snapping his head up, he eyed them suspiciously. Flashing lights never meant anything good.
Looking around at the compartment, he finally noticed Sierra...and the Healer...When had they arrived? Sweet Merlin, he was out of it. Really, the Slytherin needed sleep...and fast. Dylan was usually always aware when Greingoth was in his vicinity...
The Healer, too...as an afterthought.
...
And they were...slowing down?
Yes, he WAS pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration. "What's going on? Does anyone know?" The Captain was NOT in the mood for this...

Ari was about to answer Lesta's quetion when the lights started flickering on and off, and before Ari could ask about it, Sylvia started talking about how that was indeen NOT normal...
"Uh, does it feel like were slowing down?" Ari asked, already knowing that this definitely wasn't supposed to be happening... Oh Boy an adventure...
Alexa smiled, "Well I guess that's good and a group of people living together seems fun. I'm use to it being just mum and dad, so more will be fun I hope." She thought about having a bunch of people around her living spaces, could she handle that many people. Well it was going to be a change. "I like that you can be friends outside of your house as well." That was nice to know, "So what do you do for fun at school, or do classes take up to much time to have fun." she really hope not, because she hated studying.
Maxwell laughed when she asked if classes took up a lot of time. He shrugged "I don't know i really only go to the interesting ones...though i'm gonna try and do more this year.." He said thinking his mother would have wanted him to try harder.

The Headmistress made her way up the train's corridor toward the front of the train... or what she THOUGHT was the front. She slid open the door to a new set of compartments and blinked.
Which way had she been going? Why was this train SO DARN CONFUSING? "Everyone!" the redhead called out in a controlled but authoritative tone, "I need EVERYONE TO SIT DOWN, whether you are seated on the floor or in a chair, PLEASE HAVE A SEAT."
Then she could assess the situation as she moved on up.

Merlin that woman could yell.
Wherever she was, Sierra could hear her loud and clear. Seeing as she was already seated, though, she just...well, sat there. At least Healer Tillstorm was here. Sierra felt less like running around screaming and more like just staying put. "Healer Tillstorm?" she whispered, although, she really didn't know why. She was just waiting for the woman to say something, anything...

...but then a loud, grinding noise sounded throughout the train, and Sierra winced. The next second, Hissy Fit, her kneazle, slid from side of the compartment to the other, hissing loudly the entire way. Sierra reached over and scooped her up, but she was quick to take her seat again.

“It sure seems that way.” Silvia kept looking out the window, with the occasional glance towards the compartment door. She didn’t want to frighten the younger students, so she kept her wand stowed away. But she was ready to release it from its holster if need be. Though, chances were this was just a glitch, an accident, and there might not be anything to worry about. Then again, there was never a normal year at Hogwarts, or so they said; and her first two years were definitely not without their surprises and mysterious goings-on.
And she could not remember ever hearing about something like this happening on the train….except, that story about the famed Harry Potter’s third year at Hogwarts, in which the lights had gone out and the train came to a stop, and Dementors had boarded the train. But the lights hadn’t completely gone out and they hadn’t stopped, so it couldn’t be a repeat of that incident, could it? There was no way that the professors would let dementors come to Hogwarts. When that had happened all those years ago, it had been a precaution taken in light of Sirius Black’s escape. Then again, there was that time thief still on the loose. Silvia tried not to think about the similarities of the two situations. It was probably nothing to worry about at all. She was probably just over thinking it. She chose not to bring those thoughts up with her compartment-mates.

Suddenly there was a loud noise and Silvia felt herself being jerked from her seat as the train came to a sudden stop. She immediately extended her arms and hands to catch herself before she fell to the floor. Ptolemy, who had been quiet the entire ride, began to hoot loudly as his cage was tossed from the overhead rack, landing sideways on the empty seat beside Silvia, dangerously close to having hit her. Quickly she straightened and set Ptolemy's cage upright on the seat. Maybe that thought wasn't so absurd after all. "There is definitely something wrong here," she said, and she now slipped out her wand, just in case.

Jory was as usually reading one of the books he had brought along specially for the Hogwarts journey and was munching on Chocolate Frogs when suddenly a loud weird noise from outside. He had hardly had time to register that when he was jolted forward and the book flew out of his hands as the train stopped. "What the...'' He didn't fall out of his seat but his trunk came tumbling down narrowly missing his feet and Furball's cage crashed down onto it.
As the Pygmy Puff began emitting loud squeaks, the boy picked up the cage and replaced it on the seat before stepping out into the corridor.

One minute Ells was apologizing to Alec and the next she heard a commanding voice telling everyone to be seated and then was being tossed from her seat, gummy worms flying e v e r y w h e r e...

The lights flickering was one thing but this? They were...stopped. EEP. WHY were they stopped? Ella sat up from the floor, rubbing her head and frowning at the poor gummy worms that now covered the floor of their car. She looked at Alec, fear evident in her facial expression. "What's going on?" She whispered, clearly nervous. They would be...fine, yeah? I mean...they had to be. This was meant to be a good term...a great one. They HAD to be fine.

The Slytherin was covering his eyes, trying not to let the annoying lights worsen his pounding headache...when a female voice rang through the compartment. For such a feminine tone, it definitely held power. Dylan immediately shoved people out of the way so he could take a seat.
Pfft. Listen people. Captain here...MOVE!
Nope, he didn't mind getting told what to do...Especially if it was coming from that lovely creature he'd seen in the Prefect compartment...Yes, she could boss him anyday...
Yes. He was probably in a near-death situation and was STILL thinking about girls. It was really a /NO REGRETS/ situation...
Then the train was coming to a complete stop, lurching him into a standing position as he held onto something tight. In his moment of panic, Dylan was unsure of what he was grabbing and who he was touching. Major apologizes people. Really.
SPOILER!!: Greingoth, yo!

It was a rule of thumb...ESPECIALLY being Captain, that he could NOT freak out in front of his team members...Odessa was around there somewhere, too...
Meaning...he should probably...er...chill with the clinging and...yea.

In light of everything that was going on, seeing Dylan clinging on to things for dear life made her smile. "You got a good gripe there, Captain," she said, playfully smirking at him. She followed him with her eyes until he took a seat, and then she turned toward him. "What do you think's going on?" she asked, leaning toward him. "You think it's just a mechanical issue, or...something like a dementor attack?"
She wondered if there were Puffers in the front of the train trying to scream at the top of their lungs right now.
"Wait, what's this?" she asked, more to herself. She shuffled around a bit, trying to retrieve whatever had fallen toward her back, and then pulled out... "Ohh, Dylan. Look," she said.
A sudden loud grinding noise can be heard coming from outside, right before the train shudders to a quick stop, sending students, luggage, and animals toppling out of place.
She wasn't as oblivious as her brother had always thought so she'd already felt that the train was slowing, but still she yelped slightly at the loud noise feeling the entire train shake. Holding back the scream she wanted to let out she just winced as she fell, hitting her head on the wall before she turned her attention to the cat that was obviously annoyed and had scratched her to loosen her hold before she'd hit the ground.
Biting her lip she looked up and around, rather anxious though she couldn't exactly show that to anyone. Now she was a lot more concerned about where her brother was. Raising her hand she stroked her hip where she landed on it, already knowing that it would bruise...
At least she hadn't broken anything, Angel thought to herself.

Meaning..........Dylan might not get told off for Odessa's behavior this term.
Totally winning...
SPOILER!!: New friend?
But just in case, he looked around and pointed to himself. "Me?" he mouthed, just as he noticed the kid's eyes cross. He seemed to be...confused. Or itchy? Or maybe he needed to sneeze.
Seeing as he had a thing about hands (i.e. THEY ARE GROSS LIKE HAVE YOU LOOKED AT THEM?! What even are fingernails?), he figured this was the perfect opportunity to solidify their already-blossoming friendship. Unfortunately, two thoughts ran through his mind simultaneously: "Do you want me to scratch that for you?" and "Gesundheit!" Instead, it came out as, "Do you want me to scratch that gesundheit for you?"
Friend-making masterrrrrrrrrrrrr.
...And why was this other boy...waving at him? Did he know him from somewhere? His father's work, perhaps? Diagon Alley?
What a little weird-o...
He heard West make a snappy retort...and the other kid just seemed to take it in stride. A young Slytherin, perhaps?
*blinnnk*
Wait! Did he just insult my Chaser?
"Oh." Shacklebolt. "Well he's good, right? I mean, almost as good as me." Almost. "Taryn hangs about with him so he must be a bit okay. I'll ask Aspen. She'll know stuff." Yeah, Aspen could spy. And tell them things. She would do that cos she's a nice sister yes?
"HEY I can go get my broom and you can see it. Its real cool. I'll go get it." Clearly the boy was very much EXCITED about his broom.
SPOILER!!: insert stuff about train stopping and bunz that I'm too lazzy to quote
blah
Whaaaaaaaaaat was going on? West didn't notice the slowing but he totally noticed the stopping, and the lady yelling.
West got flung at a wall, which he scrabbled at and managed not to knock himself out. He didn't sit so much as lean and blink. O_O
"Why does the Hogwarts Express only break down when there are adults on it?" He asked nobody in particular.

Andrew had already been inside the carriage by the time that they'd come to a sudden halt and stumbled, managing to catch himself unlike his sister who he saw still on the ground. Running over to her he hugged her quickly before he moved back to see if she was actually okay. Though she looked somewhat in pain, besides the scratch that was definitely from the stupid cat she insisted on buying she seemed to be okay.
"Are you okay Annie?" he asked her looking at her face in concern that showed in his blue eyes as he reached over, grabbing the cat before it left, glaring at it as it hissed at him. "I don't like you either so get over it" he said harshly, quiet enough so his sister wouldn't notice.
Feeling a hug she stiffened slightly, but when she saw who it was she immediately relaxed thankful that her brother finally showed up. She'd only lost him since they'd actually gotten to the station so having him here know made her feel better that he hadn't missed the train.
"Yeah... ow... I'm fine Andrew" she replied watching as her brother picked up the cat, passing it to her and smiled as it nuzzled her affectionately. "Where have you been anyway?"
