The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.
[ "You'd be at that end?" Sierra asked. "So what stopped you?" She peered at the other end of the table, almost as if that answer might be obvious. It wasn't, though. Hearing Aurora's next line, though, Sierra abandoned thoughts of the other end of the table and turned back around. "I'll say. Last term was pathetic. Last place? Then the Puffers won it all?" It had been a living nightmare for Sierra.
She sensed something had upset Aurora. Why she was concerned, Sierra would never know, but the next second, she found herself asking anyway. "Been better? Did something happen?" she asked. Maybe with Kennedy? She shrugged. "I've been alright. My summer was good, and then I got the prefect letter, which made it even better." Really, she'd been surprised. She hadn't really expected it at all, even though she'd always thought she was among the ones who deserved it. "Prefecting is going pretty good so far, but...I've only been on the job a day." She shrugged.
She watched as Aurora banished the ball away from them. A smirk spread across her face as she watched it zoom away. "One can only hope...," she mumbled.
Aurora glanced up the table, "I was late." she lied. "One of the last off the train." Okay, so that wasn't true, but Sierra didn't have to know that. Aurora wasn't about to share her relationship doubts with Sierra Greingoth... It wasn't that she didn't like her - she did - she was just wondering why, all of a sudden, she seemed to be taking an interest. She had never struck Aurora as the sort of person for idle chit chat... or caring about others for that matter. And she didn't blame her - Aurora had tried caring about other people a couple of times and it was sooooo not worth it.
"Mhmm. It was embarrassing..." Even her mother had had something to say about it - Aurora had expected a certain amount of grief from her brother but she hadn't thought her mother would reprimand her for not trying hard enough. Which was so not fair. Ugh.
Aurora shook her head, "Not really. My cousin came over from the states... And she's... There are no words for how much I hate her." she explained with a smirk. "She's the sort of person you want to tempt to the edge of a cliff and watch slip." Because pushing someone would get you in trouble.
"Knew you'd get it." Aurora said with a grin. Then she looked around the table. "Anyway, I'm not sure these first years would listen to anyone else." Certainly not Kennedy - he was too nice. Well... the old Kennedy was. She was still getting used to this whole confidence and arrogance thing he was trying... "Bet you're looking forward to making these kids better Slytherins." Aurora said with a giggle, gesturing at the completely unsubtle insanity that was sitting around them.
And then the elf brought the ball back... "Does Tate really have no control over the elves? You'd have thought he'd have called one up to collect that thing by now." Because it was grating on her nerves. Big time.

"Anya! Sugarpulm!" He said with a grin. After she let go he stood and gave her a hug lifting her off the floor a few inches. They had spend some time over the summer in Italy. Over the summer Asher had grew a few inches, and his blonde hair had turned brown. He looked more like a teenager now, and so did Anya.
He carefully placed her back on the floor and offered her his seat. then he took the empty one next to her. "How's the feast going so far? " He asked looking down at this empty plate.
Anya giggled as Asher tug!twirled her. Gosh. This was fun! She needed to get hugged like this more often.
Once she was safely back on the ground, she took a seat next to him. "Good." Minus the baby elf that was running around. That was a little weird. "Have you seen Alec yet? I only got to see him for like two seconds before we got here." Which was not at all enough time.
Ooh! And now it looked like the feast was starting. That's exciting!
She'd go back to her table in a bit. She wanted to catch up with Asher first.

Ailsa couldn't believe it! "I'm in the best house!" She exclaimed while clapping her hands in delight.
She wondered if she would make many friends in this house. She sure as well try.
Near her there was a rather talkitive student. Someone older, but seemed to be friendly to first years.
"Sorry to interrupt. I'm a first year. I was wondering, who is the Head of House for Slytherin?" Ailsa asked the older girl. Ailsa was feeling a bit weird, I need to eat something. She thought as she rubbed her head and waited for the answer to her question.
"It's alright," she said cheerfully, turning around to see... Ailsa? She already knew that the girl was a first year, since they have already met. Blink, blink. Maybe she didn't recognize... Nora's back? That was most likely to be true. You know, people always forget the new faces. But still, it was a question that Nora could answer.
"Our Potions Mistress, professor Lafay," the girl slightly nodded towards where the woman sat at the staff table, grumpy as usual. The firstie didn't need to know how scary she could be. "She's a great professor." There. Maybe that would give her a bit of confidence. It was true as well. Nora always preferred to keep her thoughts to herself, rather than start lying. Hehe.
"Well, then I'm glad you're in on it," Sierra said, return the girl's smirk with a smirk of her own. She sat up a little taller and prouder when Cass congratulated her on the badge. Of course it was well-deserved. Sierra wouldn't go as far as to say that aloud, though. She did have some dignity. "Oh, ...thanks," she said, looking down at her badge. It was still just as shiny as ever. "I'm honored to have been asked. First goal? Getting those cups back."
"You seemed like you were the obvious choice actually." She admitted with a nonchalant shrug. Cass then glanced towards the yellow table warily and asked "Do you think it's going to be hard to get it back?"

Jonathan barely talks, he'd rather take a rest but not this year. It's his last, the least he could do is make most of it. Nodding to Cass "Sure. The more the merrier" he repeated the quote. It's what his mom would always say to him.
Favorite new place when he graduates? That could be arranged, however, he will miss that favorite spot he has at the common room. He has always been so comfortable of that spot and he'll always be. "I sure hope I will" he replied. Then suddenly Cass asked a question that just gave him a flashback of everything that just happened over the months he left Hogwarts. Where will he go after he graduates? It's not like he hasn't decided on anything YET but still, it's not like he can just take anything his father suggests to him. "I'm still thinking about it." that's pretty much a convenient answer for awhile. Maybe he can finally answer that confidently when he has thought over it deeply. Not now though.
Cass doesn't cook? Jonathan was somehow, not really that surprised though. Jonathan barely does anything when he's at home. He tried baking once and his mother just end up disappointed with what he did in their kitchens. Nobi had to do an extra time just to clean up his mess and of course they had to throw away with what was left with his 'baking'. Jonathan gave out a laugh. "We try our best to do these things but since we're not entirely used to it, I guess we just need more practice" or better yet, stay away from anything that has to do with cooking and baking, yes?
"Don't worry, I'm sure of it." She said optimistically with a smile, no sense it unnerving an already unnerved person, right? After all it wasn't any of her business where he goes after graduation. "Good luck then." She simply said with another smile as she dropped the subject.
Cass then rolled her eyes at the mention of practice and frowned. Bah, practice gave her burns from the oven, charred cookies, and less-than-happy house elves who had to clean up her mess. She wasn't looking forward to another disaster-filled cooking lesson. "or fool proof recipes." she grumbled.

On the dais, Tate remained standing, waiting until the students quieted a bit before he began his long-overdue speech. "Welcome back to Hogwarts for another term. I apologize for the delay in getting things started, but for those who are returning students, you know that nothing ever goes exactly as planned."
"We have several new professors and staff members joining us this term, and I hope you'll make them feel welcome. Remember that every staff member deserves your respect and courtesy, whether in class or in the corridors."

Just then, all conversations around the great hall died down gradually as the Headmaster began to give his speech...finally.
Creatures from the forbidden forest? Merlin, how much did she miss last term while she was holed up studying for her OWLs? It seemed like she really did miss a lot...and what was that orb that he was talking about? Was that the one that that little elf had? Toffee, Tulula - or something like that - had a while ago? Huh, maybe she should have tried harder to get that thing from it then if it was so important.
Speaking of important...
The Headmaster was finished, finally finished...THANK MERLIN.
"Food!" She exclaimed happily as she laughed when the food had appeared onto the tables in front of their gold plates. What? Waiting made her hungry! Besides, she wasn't the only one!
Still waiting for the food to appear and trying to ignore Toddles who, in the end, found someone to play with him (she didn't want to see what would happen if Lafay would show up), she scanned the surroundings until she spotted a new face somewhere nearby her. Since she was already so sociable that day, why not say hi?
"Hi!" Big grin. "You're new, aren't you? And not a first year either." Obvious, much? She only hoped she wouldn't bother the boy with her silliness.
Upon the sudden interference by an unidentified girl, Xing startles, stares at her for a short moment, blinking really fast. "H- Hello..." replies the boy nervously, smiling back at her, but faintly, then nods when she asks whether he is new. "My name is... Xing Canterbury. Year four." Mum always said it is polite to introduce yourself to your schoolmates when you meet for the first time, and so he does.
"And your name is..?" he'd leave the girl to finish that.

Oups, maybe she shouldn't have been THAT cheerful, since the poor boy looked startled. Well, being house mates and all, he'll probably get used to her being... Nora. "It's nice meeting you, Xing," she said with that still large grin on her face. "I'm Nora, and also a fourth year."
"From what school did you transfer, if you don't mind my asking?" Because he surely didn't look like a local, not that Nora was.
She also paid a little attention to the headmaster's speech, who FINALLY decided to speak. He mentioned something about that orb but... wait, wasn't Toddles throwing it around the Great Hall earlier?! What if other creatures might show up right then and there?!
No, no... she had to think positive. "It looks like we can finally eat!" Oh, yes. That was the best part, because she couldn't stand hearing the symphony in there anymore.

She pushed the goblet away from her slightly. She heard a CROAK! And she gave a gasp of shock, before fishing around in her pocket for WMD and placing him on the table.
She beamed fondly at the toad before beaming at West and Theo.
"Can you believe we're at HOGWARTS?"
'Cause she couldn't.
Wow. She could really bounce like now. Like BOUNCE bounce.
But she couldn't so she settled for swinging her legs, still beaming.
"Nooo, it's never too cold for a water fight." Unless it was snowing or something. The toasty Great Hall was fine, though. "I just don't want to lose any points. They seem kinda important to the old people."
Theodore looked down the table at the scary lot, and sighed. WEHHHHH, seven years with these people. Wh-what the heck was that noise?
The boy looked at Blue curiously and she placed a FROG on the table.
He bolted backwards. "What is a FROG doing in your pocket?" Like, seriously. This puke girl was WEIRD. And Theodore did not like frogs, he never has. He was more of a turtle kind of guy. Which is why he HAD one, hehehehe.
"It's AMAZINNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG." Theodore exclaimed, adding a little squeal on the end.
"I can't WAIT for classes to start."

He has officially declared that he will never talk to them again anymore. In his head, he plucked them out of his family tree. All of them.
“Just…remind me to dispose them as soon as we get to the common room.” He cannot wait to say hello to the green flame back in their common room and watch the parchments turn to ashes. His head was flooded once more of the nasty memories of that bloody school. He shook his head and spun around to complain about how long the feast was taking. Just when he was about to speak, the headmaster went to the dais and waited for the students to settle down.
“I thought he will postpone his speech ‘till tomorrow evening.” He turned his back to the headmaster crossed his arms on the table and bowed his head as he listened to him talk.

“That was really an interesting. Too bad I missed it.” He lifted his head and looked at Aurora. “I wonder what’s in store for us this term."
Smirk.
Then magically, his plate was filled with food. Not just filled but spilling with all sorts of meat. “Ohhh yeah!” he exclaimed as he got hold of his fork and knife. “Shall we?” he asked Aurora and without even waiting for her answer, sliced a big chunk of roasted beef and placed it in his mouth.
Dream realized.

When she got back to the table, and sat down, she made sure her arm and leg touched Gary as she sat down. She er... didn't mean to.... much, but she did. It wasn't much... their clothes were just touching, and then she moved over again so that she wasn't touching him anymore. She had a huge drink of her water, put it down, and pulled out her diary again. It wasn't a feelings diary, she would NEVER share those on paper. This diary was where she wrote all her stories, and she was currently writing one based on her life. About neglect of the second born!
As he said to her for not to disturb him until the food come, The blonde guy noticed that she left the Great Hall fo a while and came back again. Hmm.. Maybe she just went to the bathroom, he thought.
Actually why should I think about her? He wondered. Gary never thought about any girl, though in Salem there were many girls said that they liked him. But he just kept cool to them, because he didn't like them. But..
SSSSSHHH.. Stop thinking about that, Gary Rush!

The blonde guy heard that the Headmaster had already given the speech. So, he got up from his position and listened to the opening speech. He was eager to hear that because the headmaster talked about the creatures were coming out of the Forbidden Forrest, it sounded.. dangerous.
"Actually what happened last term?" he asked Zhenya. Hopefully she wouldn't be mad because of that incident. Gary didn't mean to snap her. But the most important thing was..
FOOD!
The blonde guy was very hungry, seemed like he hadn't eat for years! The food finally appeared and those looked delicious! What should he take first? Though he was very hungry, but he still looked calm and cool. Those were his middle name. He didn't want to look greedy. Then he decided to take mashed potatoes and the roasted beef. Hmm.. Those were good!

AT THE HOGWARTS YULE BALL, YOU'LL BE HANGING OUT WITH....__________________ It's a fairytale evening, and you want the entire event to be totally dazzling and
a real experience with the friendliest people around you.
Asher was very excited to be back at Hogwarts. Him playing in the junior quidditch league over the summer had kept him for spending most of his time with his friends but now that he was back to school. They'd have plenty of time to spend together. First though, he figured he should go sit with his house. He to move over to the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff tables later to see the others.
He plopped down into a empty seat at the Slytherin table. His best mate, Alec had promised him a great second year and he couldn't wait to see what this term held for him.
After only really having only Alec, Anya and Addie as friends last term, his teammates and people that his sister was friends with here, Asher was hoping to branch out some and make new friends.
Pyrsephonie had started to wander around and eventually found her way to the Slytherin table. She looked around, and saw a boy sitting by himself. 'I should say hi,' she thought. She walked over and sat down next to him and held out her hand. "Hello," she said, smiling. "I'm Pyrsephonie!"
FOOOOOD! Ariana Was relieved when the headmaster had finished his speech and the food appeared, Ariana loved Hogwarts food, maybe it was the magic tough of whatever. "FINALLY!" she said a bit too loudly as it appeared in front of her, and Ariana Digged in ignoring everyone around her
"It's alright," she said cheerfully, turning around to see...
Hehe.
"Lafay... Professor Lafay. She sounds nice!!" Ailsa smiled and glanced up to where Nora nodded. "Well, her name sounds nice, she actually looks dreadfully scary." That smile faded.
"Nora, What's you favorite class? If you say potions, then tell me your secret." She giggled at her joke.
Seriously though, Ailsa wondered about what the classes would be like. Her Mother used to tell her she'd be great at Potions because of the measuring and cooking aspect. Ailsa was a great help in kitchens. Yet, her Father used to reassure her that her forte would be Divination because he claimed her head was full of a smoky swirling mass. Her Father wasn't always the nicest to her.

WHAT?!? NO?!?wait a minute.... oh, it was sarcasm... Eric HATED sarcasm. He wasn't mad at Tessa or anything but it just annoyed him.
Eric kept on standing not because he didn't want to, but because he had just been asked a very awkward question. It was an embarrassing thing to say actually. Most people laughed about it. But he hated lying more than sarcasm so he decided to answer truthfully.
"Uhh, m-my mum's was in Slytherin but my father was in Gryffindor." " I know... It's a weird combination....."
He hoped she wouldn't laugh...
For a second there he actually freaked out. Tessa figured her mission was very much accomplished. Then once he figured it out he looked annoyed, but that was okay. If Eric wanted to hang around Tessa he would seriously have to get used to it.
Eric didn't sit down right away. Huh? He seemed to be deliberating about the question he'd just been asked. Eric seemed really worried for some reason. About the question? Who even cared where your parents were?
Slytherin and Gryffindor. Well, it was an odd combination, but who was she to judge? Anyone who heard her parents were both in Slytherin, and she was, too, would think that she was a high-minded sort of person wishing death to mudbloods, er, muggle-borns. (She'd grown up around people like that.)
"Well, that's okay," Tessa said. "Gryffindor and Slyhterin are both very prestigious houses." One more so than the other, she thought, but Tessa kept that to herself.
FOOD, FINALLY! Though her stomach wasn't quite as full, Ellowyn's eyes lit up as the table was overwhelmed with all sorts of food, she picked out some delicious, though some was strange looking, stuff.
Not all Slytherins are as mysterious as his father. There are people like Daichi and Nora... They're very happy people. "Nice to meet you too, Nora," Xing smiles warmly and offers his hand. He is lucky enough to meet a new housemate who is as well a classmate.
Which school did he transfer from? That... "I study in Wizarding Academy of Dramatic Arts in Beijing before." He lowers his voice speaking the school's name, afraid that the possibility of someone finding out he is a rising star in Asia. When Nora mentioned that they could finally eat, Xing looks very delighted and has a whole lot of chicken wings, lamb chops and yorkshire pudding on his plate without thinking much. He is STARVING. He didn't even realised that the headmaster had a speech. But then again, Xing won't be able to pay attention when people start talking for an extensive period of time (in his own measurements). "Everything look good..." he beams excitedly, looking over at Nora for a brief moment.
Ailsa quickly grabbed her plate and began loading it up with food. She wanted to gain some weight while at school. Working in her family's restaurant as free labor made her skinny. The food wasn't all Cornish cuisine. She spooned some little meatballs into a pile next to her buttered rolls. Further down, she did notice a few different pasties.
"I've eaten enough of those in my life, thank you." She muttered to herself as she began to dig in to the delicious food.

Brooke giggled, peering around for a few moments. Trying to find other people who looked lonley, not that she was lonely, she had Ness to talk to and Ness was one of the best people to keep her company ever ever and she was super glad to see her because she hadn't seen her much lately which was super sad. eek.
And now she was being hugged tighter, she gasped a little for some air but then after taking a deep breathe she was more comfortable with the hug and it was all okay again, she let out a small giggle before smiling at the older girl. Unsure whether Ness could even see her smiling. "Fanks." Lots of people called her sweet so now she'd decided to believe it. heh.
Ness was only a fourth year ? D: Now Brooke felt stupid, eek. She hid her face a little bit waiting for the blush of embarresment to fade, she was so embarressed now. This wasnt good. "Oh i fought you was older, like ..cos you look so Matoore and stuffs." The mature thing was just a cover story but Brooke was pretty proud of it. Not that she could say mature properly |: She wasn't very good with pronunciation of words and stuff like that, stuff that involved intelligence neither.
WHY?! WHY?! what a STUPID question, Brooke should her head. "...Thats silly. Why WOULDNT i want to be like you ? You're awesome!" she gasped. hehe. Ness was super awesome! :3
and now she was playing catch with a house elf, Brooke bent over and began to rock a little scared the ball was going to hit her. owie.
This girl was good with compliments too now eh? Ness was just a little surprised at how easily Brooke took the compliment. Brooke was really sweet, it was just that generally people didn't accept compliments like that. She was glad the blondie did though, because the more compliments she would believe the better, they were all true.
Realizing how tight she had been hugging Brooke, Nessie realeased her grip and instead just grinned at the girl. Today was just a happy day and hopefully the smile wasn't going away any time soon. "Sorry?" she said apologizing about the hug. Brooke must have felt the brace, but Brooke knew what had happened already. She had even came to visit.
OMG!!! Those cheeks! Even though Brooke was attempting to hide, Nessie could still see. Those cheeks were bright red now and they looked more pinchable then ever. GAAHH! Nessie wanted to pinch them! and she wanted to pinch them BAD! Mature..right..Brooke was saying something about mature. Focus! Ness hadn't heard a thing Brooke said, so she just nodded her head. hoping she didn't need to answer anything.
PINCH CHEEKS!
Her mind was like commanding her to do it. Slowly..no actually quickly, Nessie's hands lifted closer to Brooke's face. This girl would scream she could tell..but it was too late. Nessie's fingers reached Brooke's cheeks and then pinched them not too hard. It felt oddly amazing.
The girl seemed friendly, which was good. "Nice to meet you too, Amber" said the blonde. She took a drink of her butterbeer and looked around the room, seeing little first years being sorted. "So, excited to be back?" she said trying to start up conversation.
So far this year was starting off great, maybe Ryan leaving was a great thing. No more being limited to one person. And she was finally starting to feel like she belonged in Slytherin, and not just placed here because of her family.
Amber decided to take some more pudding, what the heck right? Nothing like the start of the term feast. She smiled at the girl. "Actually, this is really like my first year. I got dragon pox last term and had to leave rather shortly after the term started." She was more then happy to get out of her house.
"So what are the secrets to Hogwarts castle?" She teased hoping to make friends with who ever she could. She took a sip of her own butterbeer and looked at the first years being sorted. Remembering how nervous she was last year to do this.
Addie sat down at the Slytherin house table after being happily sorted into Slytherin. She looked at all the variety of food wanting to have some of everything. Carefully she filled her plate with the delicious foods that there were to choose from. Addie looked around the table at her fellow house mates trying to figure put who she should talk to.
I'm just one of those pretty little liars... | | I'm held down in this starless city...

Sounds nice but looks dreadfully scary?
Silently giggling, Nora leaned a bit closer to the younger girl, just to make sure that no one else would hear her. "She might look scary, but I know that, deep down, she's not." Straightening her back, she smiled encouragebly at Ailsa. "There is nothing to worry about. All you need to know is that you cannot forget about the five C's of potion making, and never waste her ingredients." Like... make mistakes or something. As for the five C's... there was probably no one who wanted to start his or her potion all over again, just because he or she forgot to clean the cauldron before starting.
Hmmm... her favourite class? "Potions is one of my favourites, except for all the icky yucky ingredients, and I've already told you the ultimate secret to success," the five C's, "but I also love Charms. And Defence Against the Dark Arts," and pretty much everything, except from flying. She was awful at flying, not to mention the fright of heights. "What classes are you looking forward to?"

Smiling in response, Nora gently took his hand and shook it. She half expected a bow from Xing, since he looked asian and that was how Daichi had greeted her. Hehe.
Her smile, though, faded as she heard that he transferred from the Academy of Dramatic Arts, while her eyes looked like they were about to pop out of her head. "That is... so wonderful!" Amazing! "So... are you a singer or an actor or something?" Nora LOVED to sing, although, for everyone else's own good, she knew that she wasn't good enough to sing in front of anyone who was not Elijah, her lizard.
"Everything is good," she giggled at his comment. "The house elves are doing a great job." Which was one of the main reasons she missed Hogwarts. Yup.
"Yeah, I'll be trying out for seeker" said the blonde. She was a natural flyer and could play quidditch well. She hoped to make the team but if not, she just wanted Slytherin to win this year. They needed it and the house cup. "I just hope we win quidditch and the house cup this year. It's bad enough we lost...to the puffs" she added. She still wondered how Slytherin came dead last. Chelsea was going to try a bit harder this year to earn house points.
Uuugh! The Puffs winning once... It was...... Aceptable. Twice...? No way. She didn't care who was playing or whatever, as long as they won. I mean, maybe if it was to the Lions she wouldn't have minded so much, but the Puffers? It was depressing. This year the Snakes would certainly win, oh yes. "It doesn't matter, as long as we win the cup...."
Smiling in response, Nora gently took his hand and shook it. She half expected a bow from Xing, since he looked asian and that was how Daichi had greeted her. Hehe.

When Nora's smile disappears and her eyes bulge, thought race through his mind if he had said something wrong. However, it turned out she is excited to know that he came from the W.A.D.A. "I am singer", says the boy softly. "It is a wonderful school." No doubt about it. Awesome food, awesome corriculars... Oh, yes! Awesome people too. But that doesn't mean Hogwarts is no better. He hasn't been here for an hour yet.
As he recklessly stuffs all the food into his mouth, it is Xing's turn to bulge his eyeballs when Nora says that the food was prepared by the elves. "House elf... Did the cooking?"
Silently giggling, Nora leaned a bit closer to the younger girl, just to make sure that no one else would hear her. "She might look scary, but I know that, deep down, she's not." Ailsa rolled her eyes from a moment of anxiousness at the question. It was a great question. What was she looking forward to? She pushed her bangs back and ran her hand down her braid. She felt something sticky.
When she looked at her hand it had purple gloop on it.
"What in Merlin's Beard is this?" She cursed. She grabbed up her napkin and began rubbing her hand furiously with it.
"Divination would be useful. Maybe I could figure this one out using some tea leaves." She was referring to the mysterious gloop that was in her hair.
To help herself stop wanting to say curse words she shoved a roll in her mouth.

Bethan looked around for someone she knew at the Slytherin table, a lot of her friends that she'd met in Diagon Alley had been sorted into Slytherin while she had been sorted into Ravenclaw. She wasn't complaining, she really liked her new house so far, but she only knew a few people from the house. But surely that would change as the school year went on.
There was a BIG crowd of Slytherins at the table. Either chatting with friends or stuffing their faces with food from the table. She eyed every face of the Slytherin students to see if she could recognise anyone but no progress was being made.
