The office of Professor William Walter Williamson rests out on the grounds, not too far away from where the hut of former Groundskeeper, hero, and legendary Care of Magical Creatures Professor Rubeus Hagrid was once located.
WWW's office looks nothing like Hagrid's hut, however. Outside the hut are a few fancy-looking green and silver painted wooden benches, worn by the weather but comfortable to rest up upon anyway. Once you are admitted within the office (it's small, so William can only see a few students at a time), you will notice that the office is surprisingly bright, with both modern and classical influences.
The back wall, which is really a green shelving unit, contains several brass lamps and numerous books, mostly old textbooks on creatures and wizarding communications from WWW's university days. There are also a variety of photos, several of which contain current Hogwarts professors... although they look quite a bit younger there. A few awards and certificates rest in fancy frames as well as a complete collection of Chocolate Frog cards.
There is a plush couch on the right side of the office for students to sit upon and a few wooden chairs in front of Professor Williamson's desk for visitor's too. Interestingly enough, the desk seems to emit an occasional bark or growl, and you have to wonder... are the rumors true? Did the professor really hollow out his desk and turn it into a doghouse for his cruppy Jack?
Have a seat, take a load off your feet, ask what questions you will, and see if your new professor can help you out.

6th? That was his guess. She WAS a prefect around the Gryffindor one's age.

Arya really should have expected some cuddly creature to come out at her excitedly, but she didn't. Lady Lawson Morgan had Vincent, and... well she'd never been in with Saylen, though she still really liked that woman. So it was some surprise to first hear noises coming from the man's desk, that then turned to excitement when she saw the little cruppie.
He was so cute!!

Oh. Well well, look at that, Jack had made a friend. William sipped his tea and raised his brows calmly at the sight of the girl playing with the cruppy, pleased to see that they were getting along nicely. Jack wasn't even licking her as violently as usual. Must mean she wasn't Muggleborn.
Heh. Nodding at the introductions stuff, Willy set down his cup and leaned forward a bit to watch them. "Jack. Jack's his name." Totally unoriginal, but meh. And ah, she was a seventh year. He'd been close.
Just as he was opening his mouth to ask about her plans for after graduation, William heard a knock at the door and moved out from around his desk, being careful not to bump into the dog or his new playmate. "Do you mind if I invite someone else in, Arya?"
He'd just see who it was and if he even WANTED to see them, anyway.

The prefect totally didn't forget about the professor though, only a little. She shook her head a bit. "Not so long as you don't mind answering my questions about you and the sanctuaries out there." Plus the girl was curious to see who else was up this early. Maaaybe someone she knew?

Bowing her head, Kurumi followed Professor WILLIAMSON into his office...hut...establishment with a very agitated Walnut in her arms, his tail swishing back and forth with his ears down. If that stench is what I think it is...then Pine-Fresh Man is going to need a new pair of shoes... Kurumi scratched him behind the ears, hoping to at least make him produce something that mildly resembled a purr before disaster struck. He wasn't a bad cat. He was fiercely loyal and protective of her, but she needed the feline to find a new hobby than peeing on people's shoes and using a spray bottle or other forms of practical punishment hadn't worked.
As she walked in, she saw Arya was already there and offered the Hufflepuff a nervous smile. Hopefully she hadn't interrupted anything.
She then turned her attention back to Professor Williamson. "Walnut isn't a terrible cat, professor." She just wanted to make that clear. "Just...very spirited and opinionated. You see...when someone upsets him he...um...he...relieves himself on them, so to speak." Which is why the cat was still in her arms at the moment."
While his mistress seemed to have not noticed that THING on the ground, he certainly had and his eyes narrowed and tail swished back and forth more quickly.

Jack was LOVING Arya's attention, just licking her hands and arms and even her face whenever he got a chance. He climbed in and out and over her legs and feet, not even looking up when his master left the room. He was waaaaay too obsessed with his new playmate! She smelled YUMMY!
"Oh sure sure, shoot away," he agreed amicably, opening the door wider so the second prefect could enter.

Traipsing back to his desk, William eyed Jack and Arya for a moment and then cleared his throat. "Please keep a close eye and a tight hold on Jack, Miss Lovegoods," he directed toward her. "We have TWO new visitors in here who many not be as.....comfortable with crups as we are."
He turned his gaze toward Kurumi and settled down to pour her a cup of tea. "Would Walnut like some too?" he asked with a little smile, reaching for his hand sanitizer too so that he smelled a little less like crup.
"I'm sure he's not terrible," he agreed with her kindly. "I've seen many an ornery animal in my days, and often, that's just... their personality, nothing more." And sometimes there was nothing he could do about the animal no matter how hard he tried. Willy stretched his arms out toward the cookie girl, clearly offering to hold the cat.
How else was he supposed to get a sense of Walnut's....er, problems?

Arya was grinning from ear to ear, loving all the attention she was receiving from the little cruppie. Perseus hadn't given her this much attention when she got up this morning! And even though he was practically everywhere, she didn't mind the least bit, she didn't miss the professor agreeing to her terms and heading over to the door. What to ask first? Hm.
"I'd like to first know about the creatures in the sanctuary, what kinds do you have?" She had so many other questions about them too, but right now the door was opening and Kurumi was stepping in with her kneazle. One at a time she supposed.
A brighter smile was sent the girl's way as she did as ordered and scooped up the little cruppie, giving him a squishy hug cause he was sooo cute! "Yes, sir." Hehe. There was more shuffling on the floor on her part as she moved to rest her back against the cushy chair with Jack secure in her arms. "Her kneazle's not so bad." Arya had never had any problems with him.
Then again, she never had any problems with most creatures.

Would Walnut like some too? Was this man daft? First, he should be addressed as your highness and no, he did not want any tea. Walnut continued to swish his tail back and forth, golden eyes flicking towards the THING being held by Burnt-Tire Princess. Yellow people...Walnut always thought they were weird. Just like Peppermint Boy.
"I really hope I am not interrupting," Kurumi said, looking apologetically at Arya. Although, now that Kurumi was here, hearing about sanctuaries didn't seem like such a terrible thing. Kurumi was considering a career in magical creatures as well, so any information was good for her.
Accepting the man's cup of tea, Kurumi shook her head. "Afraid he only drinks filtered water and the occasional small bowl of slightly over room temperature milk." Specia blend of milk to be honest since serving a cat real milk wasn't healthy for them...but Walnut didn't need to know that. Her eyes then widened when he...REACHED out for the cat. Was he really sure that he wanted to do that? Walnut had never taken very well to strangers, especially those of the non-female variety.
"He isn't a kneazle," Kurumi said as she sloooooooooowly pushed the stubby-legged cat towards the professor. Funny how many people thought that he was though. Walnut was just a regular old house cat as far as she knew.
Paws dangling in the air, Walnut's ears went DOWN as he was held in the air. The man's hands BETTER be warm...

Oh Merlin, phewwwwwww. What all WAS in the Sanctuary at the moment? William let out a little exhale, his hair puffing off his forehead as he thought. At the same time, he had the brilliant idea (they happened sometimes) to rub his hands on his jeans in an attempt to warm them up before holding the cat.
Once Walnut was in his arms, his nice, strong, manly arms, gentle but secure, Will looked back to Arya. "Er, well there's about one of every creature you can imagine, so long as they aren't dangerous. I think I really only have creatures with X to XXX ratings right now, though there are four winged horses in there."
And as every magical creature fanatic knew, winged horses were rated XXXX usually. Speaking of creature ratings.... Will kept one eye on Jack while he looked down at Walnut. At least Jack was behaving, snuggling up to Arya like he was, but the cat....
Hmm. He was an interesting one. Will petted his head gently, reaching behind his ears to give them a little tickle while he contemplated the creature. He had this.... LOOK about him, like he was a) far superior in both looks AND intelligence to anyone in the room, and b) that he was severely disappointed in them all for not recognizing so.
"Would you like some water, Walnut?" he asked at last, slowwwwly maneuvering the cat to a standing position on his desk. He turned around and summoned a saucer to him, filling it up with the aguamenti charm and then slowwwwly levitating it to the surface of the desk. Walnut's reaction to the magic would hint to William about whether he was an ordinary house cat or possibly part kneazle.

Kurumi's thoughts were distracted when the professor began talking about what creatures were currently within his care and she squeaked at the mention of winged horses. Next to dragons those were here favorites - well, anything winged was appealing to her - but winged horses had a more personal connection to her now that she knew her father had been a member of the rock band the Winged Horsemen. "You wouldn't happen to be keeping any Aethonan here, would you professor?" Kurumi asked with a rather hopeful smile.
This.Man's.Hands.Were.NOT.Warm.
Walnut's tail was swishing back and forth furiously now and his eyes were so narrow that it was almost as if they were not opened at all. And he did NOT like being stood up on his hind legs like one of those inferior human creatures. Cats had four legs for a reason and he intended to use them even if his were about half the size of a normal cat's
His eyes followed the man's stick thing which was not as lovely as the one his mistress had as he summoned a bowl, filled it with water, and then set the bowl on the desk. Nonfiltered water? Pfft. Not interested dude.
Kurumi narrowed her eyes at her cat and felt like she needed to apologize for his...lack of manners? "Walnut, don't be rude," she scolded. "Mother bought him for me at a local pet shop back home in Japan and brought him home to me as a gift before going to Hogwarts and he has always been...rather selective..."

"Your not interrupting." They were only having a chat and she was being completely distracted by the cuuuute cruppie in her arms. He got lots of snuggles and she allowed him to lick all over her face and arms. Hehe.
Her eyes returned to the professor and brightened when he said there were four winged horses. She got to play with four all year?! "What kind of winger horses, professor?" Not that it mattered, but she wanted to know for treating sake. "Are they fully grown or still young?" She did imagine what other creatures were possibly in the sanctuary that held the ratings he gave, most of which had probably been there in the past. Still she was supper excited.
"He's not..." Arya looked over at Kurumi's cat, not really expecting a response from the girl but more speaking to herself. He acted... smarter than the average cat. Not that they were any less intelligent than kneazles, just that she'd been around both, and the way he carried himself seemed magical.
But she wasn't bothered by the cat right now 'cause Jack was just too cute not to have most of her attention. Arya grinned down at him and gave him more snuggles. Sooooooo cute!

"I do have an aethonan here, actually," William nodded, his eyes flicking toward Arya after Kurumi's questions. "They're all adults, I'm afraid." He smiled gently. "I broke them myself." It had been a long and somewhat arduous process, seeing as winged horses were still... kind of wild winged horses. But they had been worth it and they were perfect angels now.
He laughed a little at the cat's expected reaction and shrugged. "Walnut doesn't know that summoned water IS filtered water, does he? How does he react when one... casts ON him?" he mused aloud.
Not that William was going to do that.... yet without Kurumi's permission, anyway.
Jack had earned himself a break for a moment so he let out a cruppy yawn and settled down into Arya's lap, resting his tickley whiskery chin on top of his paws. His bright eyes found the cat up on the desk and he let out a tiny, low warning growl.
Fat!Cat better not mess with Willy!Master.

Leaning against the back of one of the chairs, she gave Jack a loving pat on the head. He was soooo cute when he was growly! Hehe. Arya aww'd at him silently and glanced at Kurumi's cat. She wouldn't let the little cruppie over to him, not matter how protective he was being.
Surely the professor could handle himself.
"I can help take care of broken winged horses." She nodded, not the least bit discouraged by them not being smallish and cute. At least now she knew what kind of treats to bring. Plus, "And I can ride them too. Help them stretch their wings." Her tone was questioning and she gave the professor a look, waiting for him to approve. Maybe she would get Treyen down here sometime, for practical NEWT studies. Hehe.
She paused to look down at Jack again. CUTE. "Is that what you did before professor, break winged horses?"
Cause if so she had more questions for him.

BROKE THEM?!
It took Kurumi several seconds to register that the man did not literally mean that he had broken the creatures, as in taking a mallet to them or something, but in taming them. When she did realize this, the fifth year breathed a sigh of relief and slouched a little in her seat. "How exactly do you do that, professor?" she asked curiously. "It seems like it would be very dangerous business trying to break a winged horse." Since you know, they would fly away with you still holding on and all that.
Kurumi glanced at Walnut and then back at Professor Williamson. "I don't think he does." She said. Walnut was stubborn like that. Seemed to be that unless HE considered it filtered, then it wasn't filtered. Then her eyes widened. Was he...really suggesting that he try the spell on Walnut? This man had nerves of steel. "I'm afraid the results of that would be...smelly..."
And cue more tail swishing from the clearly superior feline. Walnut's golden eyes glanced down at the STUPID!CRUP when it growled at him. Really? The thing was going there? That crup couldn't wash himself. Pfft. Being dependent on silly human creatures for everything was dumb.
He glanced back at Pine-Fresh Man and then to his stick. Yeah...just try it buddy...

Williamson could tell from Kurumi's expression that she didn't quite understand the use of the word 'break' here. Hiding a mischievous little smirk, William sipped at his tea and shrugged.
"It is a dangerous business, but after dragons, it's kind of.... a relief, to do something so much simpler." Simple it was not though. "You have to start with them when they're younger and much more trustworthy, not so... tempted to just fly off with you dangling on their side. And then it's a slow process, once you have their trust. You have to get them used to being around humans, get them to allow you to brush them, feed them, tie them to a post, bathe them, and then you start putting a little weight on their back so that they'll eventually let you saddle them and ride them...."
He trailed off after his mini-lecture and grinned. "Fun process, but very time-consuming." Good thing he enjoyed being around animals so much, eh? So long as they were cooperative... which Walnut was not....
Debating whether or not to cast on the cat, William settled into his seat more and studied the creature. So he didn't like Jack's warning growls, mmm. Heh. "I assume he's litterbox trained and such, yes?" He looked up at Kurumi. "Have you ever tried giving him potions or anything to make him more... cooperative?"
Less temperamental? and angry? and... smelly?

"Dragons? My brother works with them." So clearly the prefect had no questions about that field, Noah had told her enough for a lifetime. She paused while he spoke with the other prefect, scratching Jack absently behind the ears as she considered her next question and how useful his response might be before just spitting it out. "What advice do you have for someone who plans on working with with winged-horses?"

Everything after Professor Williamson said but after dragons was completely tuned out. Kurumi's jaw dropped and she STARED at the man. If this had been one of those Japanese animes, there would have been sparkles and hearts appearing around her head and a light would have shown down from the heavens and bathed the office in warmness and love. THIS.MAN.HAD.WORKED.WITH.DRAGONS?!

Could she reach out and touch his hands? Hands that had not only worked with winged horses, but also dragons. They could probably heal the sick and end hunger too. And they Arya said that someone in her family worked with dragons too. Merlin, Kurumi was all but bouncing in her seat now. But, instead of doing or saying anything, Kurumi just stared at the two of them all wide-eyed and bushy-tailed.
And then conversation went back to Walnut. Boo. "You assume correctly, Professor," Kurumi nodded, noticing that her cat's ears had gone down at his comment. "I...haven't professor. The thought never really crossed my mind to do so. It seems...sort of...cruel to do so. I mean, I wouldn't give any first years a potion to calm them down if they were misbehaving." And there was a little glimmer of Kurumi's view on the creature kingdom - overly sensitive as it were and sometimes projecting human emotions onto the creatures. Still, she really did respect Walnut too much to put him under the influence as it were.

Good, good. Williamson nodded to Arya, though his eyes kind of darted toward Kurumi who was... kind of having a minor freak out there? Er? Was she all right?
No matter, Arya had asked him a good question. "Hmm, well winged horses are a lot easier to work with than dragons, obviously." He chuckled. "I would recommend getting as much practice as you can working with normal horses first, then maybe working with hippogriffs and thestrals, like practice riding them, and then move on to the larger winged breeds of horses."
Williamson nodded and thought of a question of his own. "What kind of dragons did your brother work with?" Wouldn't it be interesting if he had worked with a student's relative in Romania?!
Oooh Kurumi had a good point... "True, true...." William tilted his head at the cat, studying naughty naughty Walnut. "Do you know what he was like as a kitten? What maybe caused him to grow up so ornery when he clearly has a loving owner?"

Kurumi was distracted by the dragon conversation for a few moments, before it registered to her that she had been asked a question. She really needed to fix the issue of never having seen a dragon live in the scale, erm, flesh.
"He wasn't always this...grumpy. I got him when he was a few months old and he was playful and everything, just like a normal kitten. He has always been very protective of me though, even when it was my brothers just teasing me. He would hiss and try to scratch them That, um, sort of intensified once we came to Hogwarts." Like...peeing on people's shoes and what not.
Speaking of, erm, pets...
"I, um, don't mean to change the subject, professor, but...I think I found something that belongs to you in the broom cupboard." Reaching into her bag, Kurumi pulled out a glass jar with a lid that she had poked holes in. Even if it was freaky looking, it didn't deserve to suffocate.

He nodded seriously, looking up from Walnut at the sound of some knocking on the door. "I'm sorry, ladies, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to cut this visit short... more people seem to need my attention."
Willy headed for the door but paused as he heard Kurumi mention something of his. "Oh?" He backtracked and eyed the creature in her jar. "OH! That's not mine, but that's a rare Blast-Faced Skrebeetle! First bred by Rubeus Hagrid!"
He hustled back to his desk and scooped up the jar. OohOOOH. "What a beauty," Will murmured, unscrewing the cap and happily allowing the spider to crawl out of the jar and up his arm.
"Heheeee!" It tickled!

She also had the suspicion that Walnut, like Professor Scabior, was super grumpy because they didn't have enough of THAT sort of love in their life. Maybe she could see if there were any other single lady cats in the castle.
Just as Kurumi was about to take her leave, having handed over the jar, Professor Williamson UNSCREWED the lid and was allowing IT to crawl all over himself.

"B-B-Blast-Faced Skrebeetle?" Now that certainly didn't sound like anything Kurumi wanted to be around or have inside the castle. It must have wandered from the Forbidden Forest because...that seemed to be where EVERYTHING was released and kept. Hopefully this didn't mean that it was a crossbreed between a manticore and a dung beetle or anything. Here Kurumi had thought it was just some exotic spider.
Now it was definitely time to take her leave and exit the hut before the, um, thing decided to blast anything.
"I'm glad that it will be able to find it's, um, way home," she said as she slowly stood, picked up Walnut, and stepped back from the man and the small monster on his arm. "Thank you for your time, Professor Williamson."
And with that, Kurumi offered him a polite bow, waved to his cruppy, and scurried out of the hut, making sure the door was shut behind her so the creature couldn't escape...again...

"I have horses," She commented absently, giving the cruppie a good scratch behind his ears as she was clearly figuring things out and marking out a few of his suggestions mentally. Working with horses was something she'd mastered years ago to the point of having a part-time with them over the summer.
But thestrals and hippogriffs?
She'd only worked with them once or twice. And riding the former had been a bit difficult, but she'd managed. "Thanks, Professor. I think I will work with hippogriffs and thestrals more. I don't suppose you have any in the sanctuary?" A grin spread across her face and she gave Jack a light squeeze. Cutie pie.
"He's worked with all kinds, but right now it's mostly Norwegian Ridgebacks and Ukrainian Ironbellys in Romania, but.. he's looking to move closer to his home." Closer to his family. The prefect grew silent as the cat talk grew, content with snuggling Jack.
But then they have to leave... could she take Jack? Hehe. She stood with the cruppie, eyeing Kurumi's cat before looking back at the professor. Blast-Faced Skrebeetle?
Well he wasn't cute, but he did look far more interesting than in the pictures. She watched at Kurimi left and figured she should follow, "Yes, thanks for your time professor. And the advice." She gave the cruppie one more snuuuuugle before placing him down. "And for letting me play with Jack." Hehe
She gave the pup one more pat before wiggling her fingers at the professor and heading out, closing the door behind her.

The pup was clearly enamored with her, as he followed her all the way to the door and then sat down, waiting for her to comeback as he slowly wagged his tail. Willy just chuckled but also headed for the door. There was knocking!
