Transfiguration Lesson II [Inside the Practice Room]
You are not in the classroom today, no, you are in the slightly bigger practice room just down the corridor. As you enter you notice that gone are all the usual things kept there, to be replaced with four rows of plain chairs (no desks). Two rows down the left hand side wall, and two down the right. On the wall above the chairs on the left is a sign that reads "1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th YEARS SIT HERE", and on the opposite wall is a sign that says "5th, 6th & 7th YEARS SIT HERE."
At the back of the room are red and green clothes makers dummies, with spring-loaded bases, arranged all higgledy piggledy rather than in uniform rows. In the big space in front of the them, and between the rows of chairs, stands Professor Magnus. With her hands clasped behind her back, and a smile on her face, she is ready to greet you as you arrive.

OOC: Class will start at about 5pm, so for now please just have your character enter the lesson and take their seat in the correct place. No excessive chatter though, please!

"Sure lets find a seat." Minerva was happy the girl was being nice. Minerva was nervous of the spells they were going to be doing, but she was ready to learn more.
Diffindo? That was too easy. For heavens sake she was a second year, not five. Presley realized how rude that sounded in her head, and took a deep breath. It wasn't a bad thing to have an easy lesson now and again. It might be quite fun. Now, she needed a partner. She was so short, however, that with everyone moving around, even standing on her very tip-toes, Presley couldn't be seen. So she did what any logical tiny kid would do. She stood on her chair. Finally at the same height as everybody else, Presley looked around for available older students, and came up empty. She raised her hand high into the air. "I need an older partner, please!" She almost had to shout to be heard over the noise of people partnering up, but not quite. Now hopefully an older student would find her. Because at the rate she was going, she'd be standing here next fall.

Victoria looked around the room, trying to find a first through third years students that would be suitable to work with. Hopefully she'll be able to find another Slytherin Snake.
Elise walked up slowly towards one of the seniors.
Tugging a little on her robes, she asked, "Erm... Do you have a partner yet?"
PFFFT. It SHOULD be 'ropeydopeydo' if you asked Tori. Still, she couldn't deny that the real spell DID look cool when the professor performed it on the volunteers and then let them go. Heh.
Sure, she would be HAPPY to do that to some dummies. That way, if she missed cutting them free, there would be no blood! Woo!
"ANYONE NEED A PARTNER?" the third year bellowed, looking around her for an older student. "FOURTH THROUGH SEVENTH YEAR NEEDED!" yo!
Caroline grinned when the professor gave her a well done. And she smiled even bigger when she was released from the ropes. She quiclkly returned back to her seat, Just about that the time she sat down they were supposed to start finding younger partners. She turned to hear one of the Tori's from the team yelling that she needed a partner. Wasn't it the one that said ropeydopeydo? *giggle* "Wanna partner up?"

Of all the people, he partnered up with the head girl herself. This made Daichi even more pressured. He was pairing up with someone with a status at Hogwarts...what if he messed up? His spells were never great. Better to confess now before he acidently cut her or something..."uhm..I-i'm not really good at spells..." well, that was awkward. " but i'll try to do more than my best~!" but even as he said those words his voice was shaking a bit.
Yes? Good.
Deciding to not stand up, considering there was no need to really do so, Evelyn instead relaxed her posture and stared at the young boy. Not really good at spells? Well he was an awkward one wasn't he? Thank Merlin though. Awkward was way better than those perky and talkative people. "That's alright." she said with a cheerful grin on her face. Cheerful. Yea. "We can't all be like the professors."
Of course, she wasn't associating herself with them. It was just a fact. That's why they, Daichi and herself, were the students and the Professors were...well...the professors.

Alyssa looked at everyone partnering up with older and younger students and found herself without one. She was feeling very disheartened. "Does anyone want to partner a second year," Alyssa yelled out.
She started to have a sinking feeling that she might have to sit out this part of the lesson, if she couldn't find a partner soon.

Desiree had to admit that was a pretty amazing demonstration, but now they had to find partners.. sigh. She always had the worst of luck with this. She glanced back over at the older Hufflepuff and Slytherin volunteers, they both seemed like good partners, but she couldn't tell if they already had one.
Ahh this was always so difficult.
She wandered over to the older student side awkwardly standing and staring.. what was she doing? She smiled nervously, she was never shy.. but older students intimidated the young witch. Clearing her throat quietly, "Um anyone still need a younger partner?" she asked as loud as she could manage, looking around at the classroom that seemed to be filled with first through third years.
Awww, they weren't transfiguring each other? Eino was a little disappointed but also relieved. He didn't want to accidentally kill someone in Transfiguration class. As he scanned the room, he noticed the Gryffindor boy, August, he had spoken with earlier that week. He was a third year so he wasn't much younger than Eino which was good. Still, he was a muggleborn wizard, after all, so Eino doubted his spell casting ability. Nonetheless, the crossed the room and met the Gryffindor on the opposite side. "Hello," Eino began waving, this time not so close to his face, "Would you like to partner up with me?"
Alright so what they were going to do was capture a dummy, a green one not a red one, and then he was going to have to cut it free like the older student's little toadie? Hmpf. But it was for a lesson so he guessed he could do it.
Then Professor Magnus set them free to find a partner. He didn't really know many of the older students in the class. He began to look for Carter, his Quidditch Captain but he could see them. He noticed the evil Slytherin chick who had pushed him off of the apple basket in the first History of Magic lesson, no way was he going to partner with her. So who did that leave...
"Oh hey Eino." August ssaid smiling as the off beat Ravenclaw came up and asked him to partner up. "Sure, I was just wondering who I was going to get as a partner."
Anyone 4-7 year student want to partner up with me?

Alyssa was starting to feel like she wasn't going to find an older partner. There were a few other students in her year and younger who were still looking for partners, but it didn't seem like there were enough older students present.
...and if there were, she didn't want the Professor to 'force' them to partner up with her and the rest of the students. It would be a whole lot better if they did so willingly. But it seemed like the chances of that happening was getting pretty slim. Alyssa sighed and sat with her head hanging down looking at the floor. She wished that she could just sneak out of the class.

Hmmm. They had to pair with the older ones, which... could turn out well, you know? Or a complete disaster, but Nora was not that bad with spells to annoy the older students. Was she?
Looking around as everyone was getting a partner, she started to think that there were no older students left, but maybe one will eventually spot her.

Oh, she had a partner! Good, cuz Tori had waited FOREVER for a partner in Arithmancy and thaaaaaaat was not fun.
"Ello," she grinned at the older girl who, if her memory served her correctly, was named Caroline. "Sure suuuuuure why not."

Ashley watched as people started to partner up, before realizing that he should probably be doing so also. It seemed kind of difficult, though. He didn't know anyone, and he was short, so no one would notice him if he just stood there. The idea of having to actually go up to one of the older students wasn't really all that exciting, either, though.
Still, if he had to, he would. Now he just had to find one who seemed to still be partnerless.

....Right.
Time to befriend a Firstie, then?
Or...maybe a second year? Yeah, second year will do. Ellie approached the younger girl. "Wanna partner up?" Surely she wouldn't object, she had asked for a partner, and Ellie was responding.
"I'm Ellie." Intros were useful.

Louisa's eyes met a kid that was sheepishly smiling. Huh? Why was she smiling at her? Oh! Oh! Right. Partner up with younger kids and such. Louisa returned the smile and walked over to her, "Hi there. Do you need a partner?" Being nice only to shorter students. And yes she was very proud of the half inch she'd grown since her last term, thank you very much.
"Uh - yeah. I guess so." Glenn said. There was a rather awkward silence after that so Glenn broke it, "Uh - what's your name? I'm Glenn." She started to raise her hand for the girl to shake it or something before dropping it back to her side and blushing furiously red.

Alyssa looked up when she heard a familiar voice. It was Ellie, the Ravenclaw Quidditch Captain. She remembered her from the last game when they played each other's teams. She wasn't sure whether she should remind her who she was, so Alyssa just smiled her biggest smile and stood up to shake her hand. "Hi Ellie, I'm Alyssa. Thank you for asking me to partner with you. I really appreciate it".

So picking their own partner for this one would be quite difficult since Jonathan knows a handful of lower years. As soon as the professor gave them a chance to pick a partner, Jonathan scouted on his own. It would be nice if he's already familiar or acquainted with this person. Then, they could work harmoniously together.
He eyed some lower year Slytherins. Since, Daichi was already snagged by the head girl, Jonathan had to pick someone else then. Jonathan then spotted Nora.
He remembers her, she stepped on her foot once. Yes, Jonathan remembers every girl that stepped on his foot. He went over to her "Want to be my partner, Nora?" he smiled. Well, he needed a partner and she still hasn't have one.

Ugg partners.
Gideon was never a fan of having to find one and today's class was no different. And the fact that with his move to the older students group meant he needed a younger partner crossed out most of his friends. He watched as Kurumi snagged Selina, the only ready option he had thought of so he settled on looking around the left half of the room for other choice of partner. His eyes finally came upon a young Slytherin boy looking apprehensive towards the older students and Gideon made his way over to him.

"Care to be my partner?" he asked.
Ashley wasn't really looking all that hard for a partner, not because he didn't want to, but more because it just felt really awkward, and he couldn't quite explain why. Something about watching people to see if they were talking to or walking over to someone. It seemed weird. Stalkerish. Creepy? Whatever it was, he wasn't doing very much of it, and so he was surprised to find someone heading over in his direction, and he looked around quickly to see who was around him. It would be embarrassing to assume this person was coming to talk to him, when it was more likely someone who just happened to be standing nearby.
Soon enough, that was all cleared up when he was quite obviously addressed with the simple question. He nodded then, because his normal shrug would probably have seemed rude. "Ah, yeah. Sure, okay. I'm Ashley," he said, because it just seemed like he should.

Mina had just sat back and watched for a bit. She understood what they were going to do and the whole partnering up didn't bother her at all. She was actually looking forward to it really. Craning her head slightly, she tried to look for maybe an underclass-men from her house. It wasn't a requirement for a partner, but she thought she would just give first consideration to her fellow 'claws.
With all the bodies moving around partnering up and the voices, she had a hard time hearing the voice coming from the masses. Seeing a waving hand, she noticed a girl that she remembered seeing in the common room.
Walking over, she smiled. "I still need a younger partner. Do you want to partner up?"

Although it seemed not all of them were bookish.
Stifling a snort, Issy shook her head at the Slytherin. "No. No, it's - it's not ropedydopedydoo." Although that was a cool name, she couldn't deny that.
Issy nodded her head to let the young girl know she was correct. Although her question was less so. "No, Gwen. That is what the 'Diffindo' spell will be for." And why they would be using dummies. No first years severing a seventh, etcetera.
"I'm afraid not, William. But good guess. If that had been the case there would have been no ropes," Isabelle smiled at the Gryffindor and turned her attention to the next person.
Heh, it was always nice when they were impressed by something. Issy usually found it made them want to learn a bit more. "Well thank you, Selina. And you are quite correct as well, it was Incarcerous."
"Correct, Scott. Well done." They were all quite good. Well, some of them were.
"You are right, yes. And I'm glad you think so."
"It would indeed, Isabelle!" Good name.
SPOILER!!: Our volunteers
Isabelle turned back to the still rather excited - and giggly - volunteers. They didn't seem to mind being tied together like that, and she was pleased that they'd stayed still to avoid the chafing. And one knew the answer, the other seemed too excited to care. "You are correct, Caroline, well done. And I'm glad you enjoyed it Mr Roberts. Now, lets see if we can free you, eh?"
Taking her wand again, Issy slowly did the wand movement and silently cast 'Diffindo'. A flash of green and the ropes separated, dropping to the floor and releasing their catch. "You can go back and sit down, thank you both for your help," Issy smiled at them, flicking her wand again and vanishing the pile of rope.
----------------------------------
"Now, some of you might remember from a couple of terms ago, I taught a spell that had a very similar incantation. That one, 'Incarcolvo' conjured a net that would stiffen on impact and capture smaller things. Much more useful for little animals, or other small creatures." Isabelle jabbed her wand at the ground, a black mesh appearing from the end of it. It hit the ground and sprung up into a rounded shape. "See? Incarcerous is very different in it's outcome. If not performed correctly the ropes can injure the target, or wrap around an area you do not wish them to go." Like the face. Even if you were trying to capture a criminal, that wasn't really good.
Stepping backwards, Isabelle turned to face the dummies and flicked her wand had at them. Suddenly they all moved a few paces forwards and spread out a little more than before. "What we are going to do - or YOU, should I say - is try and capture one of the green dummies. In pairs. The older student shall capture it using 'Incarcerous', and the younger one will free it with 'Diffindo'. Be sure not to hit a red one, as they are charmed to let off a very foul smell if anything like a rope touches them." Wellll, she couldn't let it be too easy, could she? "I'll vanish the ropes so we don't get overrun with them. And you will be taking it one pair at a time. Handing over to the next once you have successfully captured a dummy."
"Please now get into your pairings, one older student going with one younger one - so the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years need to find a 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th year to go with. Thank you!" Waving her arms in the air, Isabelle gestured to them all to go forth and pair up.
OOC: I'll be moving on to starting the task tomorrow, so PLEASE DO NOT CAST ANY SPELLS BEFORE I POST AGAIN TELLING YOU YOU CAN. FOR NOW JUST FIND YOUR PARTNER AND DISCUSS THINGS. Thank you.
Salander stood up at the center divide and made his way amongst the younger students, then found himself next to the young Ravenclaw who had earlier answered the Professor's question. "Hello." he greeted her "I'm Salander." he said as he extended his hand, not want to assume that everybody in Hogwarts would know who he was, specially young ones from other houses "You sound like you really know what your talking about. Wanna partner up?"
