Zhenya did as she was told.

She grabbed her wand and jabbed it a few times. She kept looking up at Professor Bentley to make sure she was doing it right.

"Professor Bentley, Is this correct?" she asked.

Viro Torpeo" Willaim called out. " Viro Torpeo" William repeated the incantations.

William made a jab with his wand like the professor. He rpeated the excercise.

William placed his parchment and quill in his bag and also retrieved his dragon-hide gloves. After placing them on, he gripped his wand, ready to perform the spell. After practicing the incantation, Viro Torpeo, a few times, he was prepared to perform the wand movements. He began making quick jab movements with his wand, while remaining taciturn as they weren't supposed to be performing the spell yet. He wondered if something so small as a toadstool would have even smaller fangs, and whether they would cause too much harm. Feeling it was better to ask Professor Bentley and not find out the hard way, he readjusted his dragon-hide gloves and lowered his wand. But the inevitable happened.
"Professor, just how powerful are these fa-ACHOO!"
William went into yet another one of his sneezing fits. There must have been something he was allergic to in the greenhouse. He toppled over, for his eyes watered so badly he could not see, thus tripping himself over the hem of his robes. His glasses went askew, and he cough and spluttered as his sneezing turned into a violent cough.

Professor Bentley instructed them to get their wands for they will practice the proper wand movement for the spell which was a jab.Pulling out her Birch wand from her pocket, she immediately practiced the correct movement. Thrust. Thrust. Thrust.

Okay. Now, she must be ready for their harvest session. Maybe. "Errr...Professor, am I doing the wand movement right ?" she decided to ask. She was just unsure, it was best to have certainties. But nevertheless, she was very excited for their harvesting.

Freya eyes popped out. They are going to WHAT???!!

Sweet Salazar! She hoped that the toadstool won't bite her when she harvesting their fangs but then again its the biting toadstool. Oh well she better started that numbing spell.

"Viro Torpeo" she repeated the incantation over and over till Professor Bentley asked them to take out their wand.

The forth year watched closely when Professor Bentley demonstrated them the wand movement. Do not make physical contact with the toadstool when you do this Got it!

Jab! Jab! Jab!

Eino listened attentively to the professor's response, which made perfect sense to him. After that, he wrote it down quickly before he could forget. "Thank you, Professor!" He then listened to the professor's instruction in regards to the wand movement and watched as she demonstrated. A simple jab? That was easy. Ah yes, make sure you don't poke a hole on the poor toadstool while performing otherwise Professor Bentley would feed us to a colony of biting toadstools.

He dug his hand in his backpack and searched for his wand. Dragon hive gloves, no. Extra ink bottle, no. Berty Bott's Every Flavor Beans, no. Rememberall, no. Wand, yes! He took it out wiped it clean with his sleeve, even though it wasn't dirty, and began to practice. Eino jabbed the wand with a light thrust several times, but thought he looked rather silly poking the air with his wand. He looked around and some people looked even sillier, so it wasn't that bad. Jab, jab, jab a few more times whenever the Professor looked his way, then he put his wand down and waited for further instructions. Yey.

First the words, now the wandy part. Ashley pulled out his wand and began practicing the jab, trying not to even think of the words. You just never knew what might happen accidentally. Although the jabbing really wasn't that difficult, he practiced a few extra times anyway, just because practice made perfect.

Fallon grinned, happy to be doing something practical on the first lesson...perhaps they would be allowed to keep the fangs once they were harvested? They'd definitely come in handy...so probably not. Fallon huffed, practicing her jab. The first couple times she accidently whipped her wand to the side after the jab, it took more concentration than she originally thought. A few more practice attempts and a little less enthusiasm had her movement resembling more of an appropriate jab, and less of a homicidal stab.

"Viro Torpeo" Valeria repeated the incantation clearly. Then, she pulled out her wand and practiced the movement. She practiced the jabbing movement and stood away from the toadstools, just in case she hit them. My, she doesn't wanna know what might happen....

Seren watched as the students continued to practice the incantion and the wand movement... seperately of course.



“Ok now I understand you haven’t practiced the spell yet... but you will be doing this on the toadstools.” Yes... first time’s a charm? She hoped sp. She didn’t want them to suddenly become Blaze Again Buttons. “Remember to speak very clearly, and calmly... don’t rush it.” Pause.

“You will know that they’re numb when they no longer have control of their actions... so they’ll be a little... all over the place, and slower than usual.” Seren took a few strides toward one of the Biting toadstools, pulling on her dragon hide gloves as she went.

“Viro Torpeo,” she said jabbing her wand in the ‘stools direction. Of course it had the desired effect. Seren wiggled her finger around the toadstools cap, as it squirmed around trying to get its teeth around her glove and failing. It seemed to be a little groggy.

“Now as I’ve already mentioned we will be harvesting the fangs so that they may be kept in the potions stores cupboard for later use.”
She positioned herself behind the toadstool, facing the class. Demonstration time.

“Start by getting a firm grip on the toadstools cap, be careful not to get too close to the teeth. ... And don’t grasp the cap too tightly, or you’ll risk damaging the plant.... “ she demonstrated by placing her hand on the top of the cap and holding it in place.
“Do not... under any circumstances use a Freezing Charm, otherwise the fangs won’t come out cleanly and you’ll run the risk of them not growing back.”

She gazed around at the students’ faces to make sure they understood.
“ Then you need to get a good grip on the fang... one at a time... and yank in a downward direction.” Gripping one of the fangs, Seren did just that. With a sharp, clean yank, the fang came out. The toadstool didn’t protest... much. “Try to do this in one swift movement, it’s the quickest and the most efficient way to get them out... otherwise you’ll be pulling a little while.” Either way, they would get them out. Eventually.

She held it up for the class to see. Quickly she repeated the process, then held up the second fang to show the students. “Once you have successfully harvested both fangs from your Biting Toadstool, please place it in this jar.”
Seren held up a fairly big jar and placed it on a spare stool beside the blackboard.

With a flick of her wand, the instructions appeared on the board.

“Right, make sure you have your gloves on. If for some reason you forgot to bring them with you... or have misplaced them, you will find spares in the cupboard by the greenhouse door. Please return them at the end of class if you borrow them.”

And without further ado, Seren stepped aside, motioning for the students to approach a Biting Toadstool. Let the fun begin!

“Once you have completed the activity you may return to your seat.”

Stella inwardly sighed as it turned out they in fact were going to be dealing with biting toadstools. Of course they couldn't be studying cute little leaping toadstools, and she really didn't take Professor Bentley's assurance that the ones in the greenhouse wouldn't take a bite out of any of them. Although she definitely took her gloves out of her bag and laid them in her lap, making sure she was definitely prepared for when they had to take on the so far kind of innocuous-looking fungi. Either way, performing mushroom dentistry wasn't something she'd expected to do today.

The Numbing Charm eased her mind a little, even though she still wasn't looking forward to the toadstools. At least she knew she was good with Charms, and she nodded as they were instructed to practice the incantation. "Vee-row ter-pay-oh, Viro Terpeo, Viro Terpeo," she repeated along with everyone else, before things moved on to the wand movements. And practicing that without the incantation. She wasn't about to disobey, but she did first make a notation in her notes of the incantation, the wand movement and the uses of the charm before taking her wand out and jabbing it forward a few times. Pretending she had a toadstool in front of her and not getting too close. She just wanted to get on with the charm, then get the scary part over with. Yanking fangs out of even numbed biting toadstools just wasn't something she wanted to deal with.

William feeels vety confident in this class. Willaim puts his gloves on like the professor told everyone.
William feels comfortable in this class. He puts on his gloves as instruced to by the professor. He waits awhile . He finally sees the Biting Toadsrool compltely without movement. William ppinted his wand at the toadstool and said " Viro Torpeo".

Will, whose sneezing fit had subdued, though his eyes were still watery, was gracious that Professor Bentley helped him up. When asked if he wanted to see the Potions Mistress or perhaps the Hospital Wing, he shook his head determinedly, which hurt his head a bit, and tried to put on a smile.
"I-I'm ok, P-professor," he said. It was rather embarrassing for him. Perhaps he should go and see the Healer or Potions Mistress. He would really like to be rid of his countless allergies. However, he took a step back and nodded to Professor Bentley.
He approached a biting toadstool, slowly, and made sure his dragon-hide gloves were on nicely. He pointed his wand a half-foot away from the plant, getting ready to perform the Numbing Charm.
"Viro Torpeo," he said, a little less confidently. He jabbed his wand towards the toadstool whilst saying the incantation. However, he couldn't tell if the spell had worked. Tentatively, he moved his hand and gently brushed his gloved finger across the toadstool's top. It moved a bit viciously, trying to bite his finger. He leaped back a few feet, knowing he hadn't performed the spell correctly. So he was going to try again.
"Viro Torpeo!!" he said with much more gusto. He touched the toadstool again and it barely moved. It was very lethargic, as if it truly desired to bite his fingers, but just didn't have the energy to do so. With a smile across his face, and eyes still a tinge of pink from irritation, he turned to Professor Bentley.

She smiled at Professor Bentley."Thank you Professor." At least she got the wand movement correctly. Then, there it was. The time of harvest ! She didn't bother blink as the Professor had demonstrated on how to yank out properly the fangs of the Toadstools.

She quickly put on her Dragon Hide Gloves. Alright, let the fun begin ! She approached a mean looking toadstool with a rather short stem and wide cap. She then muttered the Numbing Spell, "Viro Torpeo !" slowly and clearly, pointing her wand towards the toadstool. She observed it carefully for a minute, it was still snapping.

Okay. Second try. She concentrated as much as she can, "Viro Torpeo ." Then it shaked slightly. "Come on," she muttered silently. Following the Professor's example on how to determine if the toadstool was already numb, she wiggled her finger at the toadstool and it just kept on shaking its head. NUMB, at last.She smiled widely at her achievement.

Eino was a little nervous about this. The grabbing part, the yanking part... It didn't sound a lot of fun for the poor toadstools, but hopefully they didn't feel anything and their fangs would grow back very soon so they would miss them. Eino would miss his teeth if someone pulled them out, so he felt a little bad for the plants. Nevertheless, he trusted Professor Bentley because she would never hurt a plant or put them in a position to hurt her little babies plants. Right. He wrote down the directions on his notebook, then took his dragon hive gloves from his backpack and put them on. Finally, he made his way to the table where the biting toadstools were... Oops, he forgot his wand! He quickly ran back to his seat, retrieved his wand, stuffed it in his pocket and continued towards the -- NOW HE FORGOT HIS NOTEBOOK! Back to his desk. Notebook, check! Wand, check! Okay, now he continued towards the biting toadstools... without going back and he was past the point of no return.

"Okay..." He said as he approached a feisty one and consulted his notebook. "First, you must be numbed." He thought of the incantation for the spell repeatedly on his mind. Intent was the most important thing, and he really didn't want to have to cast the spell multiple times. He was a fourth year for crying out loud and next year he would have to start practicing non-verbal spells, so he better work on his spell casting! He thought as hard as an Eino could about his intention to numb the plant. Numb, numb, numb, numb, numb, numb, numb. He finally pointed the wand at the plant and with a sharp thrust he said the incantion. "Viro Terpeo." The feisty plant seemed different... Maybe it had worked. The plant seemed a little confused and was no longer showing its teeth threateningly at Eino. With his dragon hide gloves on, he lightly poked its cap and the plant didn't even seem to feel it. He poked it slightly harder. Nothing. The plant wasn't reacting to Eino's pokes, so that meant it had worked.

William gets firm hold but gently on the cap holding the top of the cap.

Desiree took a deep breath, she could do this it was just a mushroom with teeth. Anyways it was kind of exciting, and the first step was simple enough.. Except this would be the first spell she had ever done in her classes. Determined to get it right she aimed her dragon heartstring wand directly at the mushroom. Trying to remember what Professor Bentley had said. Oh yes 'speak very clearly, and calmly' She slowly pronunciated the incantaion, while jabbing her wand at the mushroom.

"Vi.. Ro.." "Tor..Pe..O.."

Nothing happened. Maybe she had taken the instructions a little too literally. But she wasn't going to give up, she was determined to prove herself. Trying again she repeated it, only faster "Viro Torpeo" she said with a nice jab.

And voila! Desiree smiled at her accomplishment. She had managed to successfully numb her biting mushroom. This would be one to write to her parents about. Double checking the mushroom just in case.. Slow. check. Not in control of movements. check. One numbed toadstool. CHECK.

Touching the cap of the now numb toadstool, Beezus observed that it wanted to bite but can't. That's why we do the Numbing Charm, she thought quizzically. Now, for the harvest ! She was really excited for this.

Slowly, she gripped the toadstool's cap, not to tight. Alright, and then she looked at the fang. There it was. as if waiting to be pulled off. Beezus got hold of the fang and in one swift downward had yanked it off . Success !
She smiled brightly, lucky move for a first year. Beatrice then placed the first fang at the jar near the blackboard.

Jayden smiled confidently. "I've got this" She thought to herself. She pointed her wand at the toadstool and said the incantation with the correct wand movement."Viro Torpeo!" she said with gusto. The toadstool stopped moving, but just to be sure she checked again. "Alright, I got you numbed!" Jayden mumbled, pleased that she had gotten this far...

And now, the classes tried to harvest the biting toadstool fang. Raven was ready with her gloves and wand. Firstly, she need to use the numbing charm.

"Viro Torpeo!" said her clearly and jabbed it. And what happened to the toadstool? It was numb.

Okay, now to put the incantation and the wand movement together, Stella thought as Professor Bentley had started to speak again. But then her eyes widened a little as they were told their practice of the charm was going to happen on said toadstools. As in, there really wasn't any practice at all, if they didn't want to get bitten. This was definitely not one of her favorite lessons, even including learning a new charm. She was going to go through with it, though. She couldn't let her House down, and more importantly she couldn't let herself down. She'd gone to class, so now she was going to do as she was told. Just very carefully, and she made sure to write down the steps that had been written on the blackboard before starting, too. Preparation was everything.

Once she set her quill down, she deliberately pulled her dragon-hide gloves on, making sure they were secure before approaching a toadstool that didn't look quite as frightening as some of the others. "Hi Mr Toadstool," she said tentatively, stepping back a little as it snapped at her. Maybe it was a girl toadstool. Either way, all she needed to do was numb it, get the fangs, and then she'd be done. It would be easy, or at least she hoped it would. "Okay, I promise this won't hurt a lot," she assured the still kind of snappy toadstool, before she pointed her wand at it. "Viro Terpeo," she then said, jabbing the wand toward the fungi but making sure not to connect. She didn't want her precious wand all marred by toadstool chewing after all. Or her hand.

As the snapping slowed, she tentatively moved closer and echoed the professor's actions to check if the spell had worked. It halfheartedly tried to snap at her fingers, but it was very sloooowly. Seems like we're good, she thought, crouching down and getting a closer look. It's you and me, little toadstool.

William get a grip on the fang of the toadstool. The first fang came off easy with a good sharp yank. William went to the next fang. He gave it a yank, but it did not come off this time. He then gave it one more sharp yank to the other fang. It finally came out. William put the fangs in the jar like the professor told the class.

"Now, for the second fang, " she said. Beatrice returned to her numbed toadstool and once again gripped its cap. Just enough for her to hold it in place. Then with her other hand, in one swift movement, she managed to pull off the second fang faster than the first one.

She looked at her toadstool, "Thanks a lot for helping me today." she told the toadstool. She really was thankful that he/she was very cooperative and so she managed to finish the activity properly. Carrying the second fang, she went to where the jar was placed and put and fang inside. "I'm done Professor Bentley." she said curtly. And then, she headed back to her seat and amusingly watched the other students.

Numbing charm right hmmm? she took out her wand and pointed at the muchroom sort of the whole room was noisy so it was very hard to concentrate ''Viro Torpeo!'' she said while jabbing her wand in the mushrooms direction,

It worked for her so she was quite happy with she smilied One step down two more to go
