When not in use for classes, several of the greenhouses that are located on the school grounds are open for private and independent research and study. In fact, this is highly encouraged.
Within the unlocked doors of the greenhouses you will find rows and rows of plants. The greenhouses contain a wide variety of plants - both magical and mundane. Want to practice your pruning skills? Why not practice on the Abyssinian Shrivelfig of a Flutterby Bush? Or perhaps you want to harvest some Puffapod seeds- just don’t drop them!
In the cupboards you will find several shelves containing any equipment you might find yourself needing: trowels, cultivators, shears, protective goggles and the like. Also, in case you forgot your own, there is a cupboard which contains work robes and gloves in various sizes. As usual, you can find the fertilizer in a heap behind the greenhouses.
Remember Professor Bentley likes to take regular strolls through the greenhouse to check on things. So make sure you wear your protective gear and behave yourselves accordingly.

She saw the students fighting with it, and she shouted 'WHY NOT CAST INCENDIO???!" She took out her wand and shot the spell at its tail. "INCENDIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

They weren't being able to stop the dragon without fire, it was going around destroying everything. It had also attacked them! So Wist decided that she would try to justify what she did if she was scolded for it.
"All right." she said in reply to the student who had said about drying the place. "Are there any spells that can help with that?"

"Use the Hot Air Charm. The hot air will help dry up the place. But make sure that you're pointing at the water and not at the plants. You don't want to end up drying the plants instead." Alyssa told both Harvey and Wist, hoping that the spell would work.

GAHHHHHH!
Seren was in a great deal of anguish. HER BABIESS!!!!! They were being trod on and drowned! And... and... DESTINY! wanted to protect the stupid snow-beast!?.. that a 'few' plants meant... meant... NOTHING?!
She gave the Slytherin Seventh year a long hard glare. "Miss Shepard, my plants are NOT for killing! and mark my words if you disrespect my greenhouses again... you will pay severely."
Nobody messed with her and her babies. NOBODY!
That other Slytherin girl was causing far more trouble than she was worth as well. INCENDIO! ON A SNOWDRAGON IN HER GREENHOUSE! No... no... this was not happening. "For the last time! DO NOT MELT IT!" she said raising her voice now.
Her babies lives were in danger, she had to protect them. Only thing was... how? "Never in my life have I had to deal with the prospect of a snow dragon invading my greenhouses..." How in the name of Merlins scented candles was she supposed to handle this?
Alyssa and Harvey weren't helping the situation though... making the beast mad. Ugh all this destruction!!! Whoever was responsible for this blasted dragon was going to have to deal with her wrath... at a later date.
"Right... Kurumi, Alyssa, Harvey, could I please get you three to handle the water situation."
Turning back to the dragon... well... what else could one do?
With a heavy heart, Seren aimed her wand at the flower bed, the big oaf was standing on. "Incarcifors," she cast, transfiguring the flower bed into a large cage, to trap the creature.

"Okay Professor. Kurumi, what do you want us to do? Still continue using the Hot Air Charm or do you have another suggestion to speed up the drying process?" Alyssa asked the Gryffindor Prefect. She would definitely know what to do.
Ropes shoot out of the Professor's wand binding the snow dragon, leaving it immobilized. The fire has spread though, burning through the creatures tail and opposite back leg. As it burns a ridiculous amount of water splashes all over.
The fire quickly burns the rest of the snow dragons body, it lets out one final shriek before it's head catches fire and showers down upon the greenhouse.

Kurumi nodded her head towards Professor Bentley. She would try to handle the water, but looking at the size of the beast made the task rather daunting. Maybe...she could conjure up a rather large sponge to suck up all the water?
"I'll try my best, Professor," she nodded nervously as she took several steps backwards away from the snow dragon. She tripped over a fallen branch and landed right in the middle of one of the large puddles. Her robes were now soaked to the point that there really was no point in keeping them on anymore. Slowly, she removed her outer most robe and attempted to ring it out.

Hot Air Charm? Alyssa and the others knew how to perform that already? Merlin, she was no where near getting up to par to be able to perform that one properly without catching something on fire, especially with her nerves being shot like they were.
"Um...let's hold off on the Hot Air Charm for now," she said with a nervous laugh. That is all Professor Bentley would need now, some of her plants catching on fire. "If you guys could grab some buckets from the shed, I am going to try and transfig----"

*SPLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH*
So much for keeping the rest of her robes dry. Wand still in hand, Kurumi observed the damage that had been done. A few sections of the greenhouse where she had cast Shield Charms on various plants and flower beds were unaffected by the sudden downpour, but the rest of the place looked like it was going to turn into a swamp.
"EEEK!" Kurumi squeaked. "Professor Bentley, I'll help you and other replant everything so that the roots don't rot from over watering," she offered as she fumbled around with her wand. She pointed it to her mess of a black robe, swished to the left and tapped it. "Covahdium."
Thank goodness she had been practicing this spell all term in the Transfiguration practice room. What? She had to make an oven somehow to bake her cookies! Her robes quickly morphed until she held a very large sponge in her hands. The sponge was about the size of a baby dragon - how ironic.
Well, it was what she would do if something had been spilled...use a sponge to soak everything up.
However...Kurumi was left with a lingering thought. "Why...did the snow catch on fire?" Unless, this dragon had been made of more than just snow...

One second everything seemed to be slowly getting under control.. and then
BAM!
Water showered all over them! This was... BAD. And BAD was clearly the understatement of the century.
Standing there... soaking wet, Seren just stared in amazement. Had all that just happened? Why? Why now? Why to her? ... HER PLANTS!!!! HER BABIES!
Suddenly frantic and full of energy, Seren turned to the group of students. Kurumi was already pro-active on the situation. Thank merlin someone was.
"There are bags of sand behind the greenhouse, Harvey, Alyssa could you please fetch them and bring it back here. Empty it on the path, NOT on the plants... it ill absorb most of the excess water."
At least from around their feat... now to deal with the rest of the mess. "Mia, Destiny and ... if you'd like to make yourselves useful then perhaps you could help Kurumi and help dry up the water, perhaps fetch some buckets from the cupboard... otherwise you should leave."
Help or get out. Simple as that. This was not the time to dawdle.
Turning to the Sytherin girl who had used the Incendio spell, she shook her head, clearly disappointed. "Think, before you act.... now either help clean up the water or leave."
This was getting beyond ridiculous... even for Hogwarts.
Fighting back a few tears that were forming in her eyes, Seren went about examining the condition of the plants...
TJ just stood there and blinked as she watched the dragon burn. Snow...burning! Merlin that was a first, and hadn't the professor just said not in her greenhouse? "Professor." she said softly approaching her shivering with cold, due to now being drenched her hair just stringy as it fell over her shoulders.
"What can I do to help?" she knew they needed to act quickly. "What can we do to warm them...fast?"
Seriously where did all these people come from? Only five minutes ago it was just her and Destiny in greenhouse three and now there was a mob of people here, including Professor Bentley who was acting totally psychotic in Mia's opinion.
How was she supposed to collect some puffapod seeds now?
And then there was Destiny who of course wanted to protect the snow dragon, no doubt the girl wanted to take it home with her.
If all that wasn't bad enough, there were stones being thrown, flames and ropes. It was all too much for the Hufflepuff, who just stood there, not making any attempt to draw her wand and watched the scene unfold before her eyes.
And Nik made her come back to school.
For this.
She actually considered taking up the Professor's offer of leaving. The last thing she wanted to do was to work. That's not why she had come down here in the first place. Yes she was a lazy so and so.
Realising that it would probably look bad if she left, Mia heaved a deep sigh. "Fiiiiiiiine." she groaned, taking out her wand and pointing it at a puddle on the floor. "Tergeo."

Squatting down to inspect the damage done to some of the plants, Seren let out an audible sigh. There was no saving them... they didn't stand a chance against the stupid snow dragon.
She looked up at the sound of one of the Slytherin girls. Seriously... what was with all the snakettes? "Um... just... I don't know..."
There wasn't much else that could be done. In fact there wasn't really much point in any of this. All they could do now was mourn.

Karma. That's what this was.
Hufflepuffs... why did they always stand around during a time of crisis?
Was she in shock?
Seren was about to suggest the girl go to the hospital wing when she finally spoke up. Wait. Hold up. Did she just groan about it?!
That was it... that was the final straw. Honestly... this was a seriously traumatic situation. Plants died today... and this Puff didn't care whatsoever. "If lending a hand is too much of a chore for you then perhaps you should leave... go on, out of my sight!"
Leave her to mourn her loss in peace and quiet.
This was going to take some serious work. Greenhouse Three was officially a disaster zone.. all the debris, the water, the dead, broken, damaged plants lay like casualties in the mud. The frost still hadn't completely worn off some areas...
*sigh*
Greenhouse Three would be have to be closed for a while. Perhaps she should organise a busy bee to get everything back to normal. Of course, she would need to make a list of what needs to be done first.
Tucking some of damp, blonde hair behind her ear, she turned to address the students that were there.
"Thank you... for your assistance, but its probably best if you vacate the greenhouse for the time being. There are measures I need to take to get things under control." Meaning she needed to salvage what she could and be left to sit in the dirt and mourn...
Because she would. Her plants, her babies, were everything to her. "Restoring the greenhouse will require numbers, more than we have right now... keep an eye on your notice boards..." she mumbled.
This was trully devestating.
OOC: Hi everyone! thanks for playing, I will be leaving this thread open for 24 hours from this post (after which it will be closed), so feel free to RP a little longer drying up the water, or just leaving. And yes, WATCH YOUR NOTICEBOARDS! More information coming soon!
The woman had seriously lost the plot. Just because Mia moaned and groaned about having to do work didn't mean she wouldn't get the job done. She was a teenager for goodness sakes. What teenager wanted to do work? For nothing?
Mia lowered her wand and stared at the women for a moment before stowing her wand back in her pocket. Someone needed to take a chill pill or two, maybe even three. "Okay. I'm outta here."
She turned and looked at Destiny and raised her eyebrows in question. Was she coming too or was she gonna stay and mourn with the Professor? Only, the Slytherin would be mourning the snow dragon and not the plants.

Once again, everything was happening so quickly.
Destiny didn't know why, but her attempt to save the snow dragon, by casting the 'Protego' Charm around him, had failed miserably. She was going to blame it on the stone thrower. If he hadn't come and started throwing stones, there would have been no reason for that Charm. And then Professor Bentley wouldn't have been yelling at her and threatening her with paying severely. She didn't know how she was going to pay anything anyway, she had spent those two galleons she had on chocolate.
Heaving a sigh, she glared at everyone even the Professor, just daring them to do something. But even her glaring seemed to fail, for in the very next instant, the snow dragon had shrieked it's very last shriek, and she was standing there covered in very cold water.
*wibble*
Her bottom lip began to tremble, out of coldness and because the snow dragon had just lost it's life, and splish-sploshing her way back to the group, she had just opened her mouth to to tell Professor Bentley that she was not cleaning up another person's MURDER, because that's what she felt it was, poor snow dragon!, when someone had stepped right on the woman's tail.
Really!? She was upset over PLANTS!? What about the snow dragon!? He was dead, too! It was just like the snowman who died in the Entrance Hall, no one cared. "I wasn't going to help clean up anyway." she all but huffed, and not bothering to dry herself off or wait for Mia, she began stalking her way out of the Greenhouse.
And just because she could, right before she left completely, she KICKED one of the dead puffapods. Take THAT!

Oh dear!!
Destiny was not a happy camper. Well that's just great isn't it. Like she needed to hear about the injustice of a dead snow dragon all afternoon. This day was not going at all the way she had planned.
Mia stared after her friend as she stomped away. What did she do? She hadn't even drawn her wand in that whole fiasco. For the love of Merlin, she should have just stayed in bed today.
With another small groan, Mia started after her friend, grumbling under her breath as she did so. And then she saw Destiny kick the puffapod plant and she had to admit that she was surprised by the Slytherin's actions but that only lasted a second, as she dived forward and snatched the seeds out of mid air before they could hit the ground.
Looks like this day wasn't a bust after all.
She grabbed Destiny, by the scruff of the neck. "Run!"

Jez shot a sympathetic glance at Professor Bentley as she turned to leave. The poor woman looked utterly heartbroken. Jez was upset about the needless murder of plants as well, but the professor seemed almost close to tears. Jez resolved that she was going to work out who in Hogwarts was enchanting those snow figures, to avenge the plants lost today.
Jez hesitated before patting Professor Bentley on the arm. "I'm sorry, Professor," she said. What else could she say at this point? 'Your plants will grow back'? That was just plain insensitive! So Jez left, biting her lip worriedly.
Someone was going to pay for enchanting those snow figures ...

Destiny had just reached the exit to the Greenhouse when she turned around to see where Mia was. Sure, she was upset over the BRUTAL DEATH of the snow dragon, but she didn't have to leave her friend behind. Especially with how angry Professor Bentley was. Who knew? The woman could have been a Hufflepuff-Hater, and she could possibly use Mia as a sponge to clean up the mess.
Thankfully, though, her friend was right behind her and Destiny couldn't help a small smirk from forming on her lips as she saw Mia steal those seeds. Oh, if she weren't so..whatever she was feeling, she wasn't good with emotions, she would have rambled on about stealing. Remember the Safari and the animals she wouldn't let her take? Yeah..
The smirk however, didn't last very long once Mia grabbed her and told her to run, and she would have done JUST that if Bentley hadn't went all crazy..AGAIN.
TEN POINTS!?
For disrespecting the plants AND the Professor!? She hadn't kicked Bentley, just the plant! The plant that was DEAD! The snow dragon was dead, and none of those murderers were losing points! And they were throwing STONES and lighting it on FIRE! "Injustice!" she yelled, not having any idea what it meant. But, she had seen it used on the muggle box when people didn't get their way and well, she didn't get her way.
Huffing once more, Destiny broke free of Mia's grip and finally made her way out of the Greenhouse, muttering something about Professor Bentley being able to take away her points, but not her freedom.

Someone remind Mia never to even prune a plant the wrong way when Bentley was around. Really. the woman should go and see Lafay about a calming potion or something. Actually that was probably a good idea, she would like to see her explain to the Head of House why she took ten points from a Slytherin.
Hehe.
Mia cleared her throat to stop from laughing. This was supposed to be a serious situation after all. And what did she mean that it was a stupid suggestion? "Well Professor, I could see that Destiny was upset and I figured if she ran then she could work off some steam." Not exactly a lie. It probably would have done just that.
She was about say more when Destiny started yelling again and Mia had the feeling she was just digging a hole for herself. Annnnnd then she was leaving. Just like that. And leaving Mia behind to face the wrath of crazy plant woman.
"Er..." She was so out of here and doing her best to avoid eye contact with anyone, Mia hurried after Destiny.
Hearing the professor's answer, TJ bit her lip unsure of what she should do then. Sighing she looked around them as she spoke again. More numbers... meaning there was nothing any one was going to do right then. She was about to walk back out of the green house, her plans having been squashed no pun intended by the snow dragon, when the professor started yelling at her fellow Slytherin.
Now really... she muttered under her breathe at the other student. Seriously did people have to be so uncaring when obviously the professor was upset about her greenhouse and all the dead plants. Exiting after the two girls, TJ shook her head irritated at her fellow Slytherin.
Still soaking wet, TJ headed to the common room shivering needing a long hot shower.

Looking up from the mess, Seren offered the girl a small smile... well as much of a smile as she could muster, even if it pained her to do so. At least this girl understood how great the loss was.
Seren nodded, gesturing for Jezabel to leave. She'd done all she could.

Injustice? The only injustice that happened here was that her precious plants were murdered!!! Could the Slytherin not understand that? A stupid snowdragon could be built and charmed, plants had real lives, they were born and breathed and LIVED!!! They HAD a life to be taken..
As for Mia... good grief that girl was a terrible lier! Hufflepuffs... not the sharpest tools in the shed, but Seren didn't ahve the energy to take it any further.
At the end of the day, no amount of yelling would bring back her babies.

At least this Slytherin had the right idea. Mouth shut and leave. Good girl.
Finally ushering the rest of the students out, and secured a sign to the door.

There was work to be done. Some of it at least...
Perhaps something could be salvaged and moved to the other greenhouses.
*sigh*
OOC: The Greenhouses will be closed temporarily, sorry for any inconvenience XD

OOC: Hey all! The Greenhouses are now open again for general RP/HW, but Greenhouse Three is NOT (with the exception of the Ground Zero thread).
The Greenhouses had been a little quieter than usual, but that was probably due to the distrbancs that had occured. After all, nobody wanted to mess with Professor Bentley's greenhouses when she was still fuming about the state of Greenhouse Three.
A sign still hangs on the locked door to Greenhouse Three.

Zhenya walked into the Greenhouse slowly Knowing it was the 15th day of the month. She had pulled out her Moon Planting Calendar and saw that the 15th was the Full moon, and Sagittarius, the best time to plant Bulbs. It looked open, and the sign only said Greenhouse Three was off limits. She was here to do her homework, so she walked in, careful not to touch anything.
She saw a corner, which was empty, and saw it as a good place to set up. She sat on the ground, getting dirt on her backside. She opened her bag and pulled out a medium-large sized white pot, a bag of soil, some fertiliser and a garlic bulb. She took out her wand and opened the bag of soil. 'Wingarium Leviosa,' she said, watching as her wand levitated the bag of soil off the ground, tipping to the side, and pouring into the pot. When it was about 5" from the top, she moved her wand down and the bag of soil dropped slowly to the ground. She picked up her Garlic Bulb and removed four cloves, digging them into the soil long-ways.
Out of her bag she pulled a small bucket out which had fruit and vegetable peel that has been chopped up finely. She added some soil and mixed it with her hands, and sprinkled it over the cloves. She pulled out her wand, muttering 'Aguamenti', and directed the jet of water into a miniature watering can she has pulled out her her bag. She picked it up and watered her garlic, remembering that she had read the soil should be nice and moist.
She packed everything back into her bag, and pulled out a sign she had made, saying;

Jory admired all the plants in the Greenhouses. He recognised some non-magical plants there but there were alot of Magical ones he did not know.
The young Hufflepuff noticed that some of the plants needed pruning and since the moon was descending, the boy could not think of a better time to do this. Jory decided to stay away from the plants he did not know so he turned his attention to the ones that were familiar - a patch of daisies. He pulled on some gloves- just in case- and got down on his knees so he could examine the plants better.
Carefully, Jory pulled of some yellowing and dead leaves from the daisy plants. One part of the patch had more yellow leaves than the other part. But Jory continued to extract the dieing leaves. "No sense in leaving them even if the plants will look a bit leafless,'' the boy thought wiping a bit of sweat from his forehead.

Alyssa entered the Greenhouse wearing her gardening robes. She was here to plant some carrots. Tonight was February 17th and the moon was waning with Capricorn currently as the zodiac sign, which was supposedly the best time to grow carrots. She hoped that she had read the moon calendar the Professor had provided correctly, or her carrots would not be growing anytime soon.
She walked over to the cupboards where all the gardening tools and equipment were kept and took out a bucket, a shovel, a spade and a watering can. She put the spade in her pocket before closing the cupboard. Then holding the bucket in one hand and balancing the shovel and watering can in another, she made her way along the rows of flower beds until she came across that was unused at the moment. "I hope that the Professor doesn't mind me making use of this one for this assignment,"Alyssa thought to herself. She placed everything next to the flower bed and then she knelt down next to it. She first checked to see that there were no pests or weeds growing in the flowerbed. Satisfied that the flowerbed was ready for planting a new crop, Alyssa picked up the bucket and the shovel and made her to where the Professor kept the potting soil for the greenhouse. She put on her gloves and removed the tarp covering the potting soil. Picking up the shovel she scooped up the potting soil and filled up her bucket. Once she was done. She covered the potting soil with the tarp. Then putting aside a shovel, she removed one glove and taking out her wand, she pointed it at the bucket and said "Wingardium Leviosa". The bucket of soil slowly lifted off the ground. Still pointing her wand at the bucket, Alyssa picked up her shovel and slowly walked the bucket of soil back to where she had left the other tools next to the empty flowerbed. She laid the shovel down and then while pointing her wand at the bucket, she slowly emptied its contents into the flower bed.
Now to get some compost.

Zhenya returned to the Greenhouse and went to find her pot. She found it, just where she had left it, still intact. Good, nobody had touched it, she thought. She kneeled next to it, and felt the soil, it was still nice and moist. She noticed, miraculously, that it had started growing stems! WOW, that was incredible. She wondered if maybe the garlic she had been sent by her mother had a quick-grow spell on it. Hopefully that didn't take marks away...
She gave it another watering, and left.
