Ronnie could tell the girl was lying. Of course things were fine for her, they usually were. "Don't be sorry." Ronnie said, she had finally come to terms with it. She was growing up and realzied that her dad was now in a better place. "He was sick, and he's better off now." Ronnie said smiling. It was the first time she had said that out loud to. Things were finally starting to look better for her.
"How is your quidditch team doing this term?" Ronnie asked, hoping to make the conversationa bit happier than it was.
Don't be sorry. But...Well, actually, Ellie didn't know that she was sorry. That was just what you were supposed to say, right? 'Sorry for your loss' or whatever. She did know that she felt bad for Ronnie, though. I mean...if Ellie'd lost her dad...she'd probably....she had no idea what she'd do.
Realizing she was actually frowning at the thought, the fifth year bit her lip instead. Mhm. 'Twas a good cover, she thought.
That was good, though. Ellie wouldn't say it out loud, but it was good that her dad was better off, rather than suffering through an illness.
And then Ronnie asked THE question. The dreaded Quidditch question. And Ellie, being the word-twister that she was, was able to answer exactly what was asked. And only that. "My team's doing excellent." Team was the keyword here, obviously. Because Ellie was an epic failure herself. But her team WAS excellent. They really were. She couldn't be more proud of them.

Maybe he was going to love her above anything for good, but on the other hand, he understood that she did not have to return it.
Trying to hide his very unhappy state behind a forced little smile, the Gryffindor boy walked to her. Figuring she already understood what he meant, he was not going to repeat it and tell her not to bother trying to make him feel better.
''I think you should go back to your common room now. Before even the head girl gets in trouble...because of me.''

Scoffing quietly after a moment, she wiped away the tears, still trying to get a grasp on everything that was happening. No. "This..."
For a moment, the idea that this was another way of keeping her 'safe' entered her mind, but it was washed away quickly. Wiping away the last tear, though why she tried since they were already starting to slowly be replaced with more, she held the necklace she wore in her grasp again yet one hand found it's way into the pocket of her coat. She wasn't paying much attention to it, but the weather was in fact chilly outside. "Be-because of you?" she repeated unsteadily, trying to keep her voice even. "This...you can't...No." Merlin. Stepping forward, she tried to reach for his hands. "No. Please, Josh, don't say that."
No. Just read her mind. Somehow do that! Since she couldn't get the words out.

Apparently he could not even tell the difference between good intention and things that would ruin others' life.
But...he did not really understand the exact reason why she was crying. It was true that this was a no good experience and he almost felt like crying too. His reason, though, was that he could not even manage loving someone he loved properly without making them suffer. Hers...it was confusing to him. Looking at her carefully with widened dark brown eyes, the Gryffindor tried to figure something out of her words but...they did not give out much either.
'Don't say' but don't say what?
Seeing the movement of her hands towards his, Josh did let her to do even though he knew her touch was going to make this 'letting her free' even more difficult for him. ''Evelyn...'' he said with a calm tone and neutral expression ''...i don't understand what are you trying to say. How do you expect me to, anyway, while i even failed to see that i have been a trouble to you for years?''

Stepping a little closer, she shook her head, swallowing away the emotional bubble she knew would appear sooner or later. Hopefully later. Much later. Right now, she was just going to work on keeping her voice even and at least say what she needed to. "I...I don't care if you been trouble. I really don't." Quite frankly, he should've know that. She was still with him, wasn't she? "You know I love you, right?" Right!? "This...it's not because I don't love you. Because I do..."
Taking a shaky breath, focusing on getting the words out before she broke down again, her gaze moved down to their hands for a moment before looking back up to him. "You have been...my everything these last few years, but...I'm just..." Finally getting her words out? "I'm just not ready to get...m-married."
That was an incredibly hard word to say, but she got it out. Finally got all those words out.
Josephina felt almost if she was back home watching one of them Muggle Soap Operas, the way Evelyn had refused the proposal. But then ... she ... oh... she just wanted to give Evelyn a big hug. Not ready to get married, was just about the most mature thing she had heard in a LONG time, it seemed.
How could she bust them for being out of bed now? They were both so ... distraught ... overwhelmed with emotions. Oh heck, she might have even had tears in her eyes.
Half a mind to just go back to the castle and let them work out their problems on their own, forget she ever saw them, on last whim she changed her mind. And knocked softly on the wood of the gazebo to signify her presence.
"Mister Carter.... Miss Flores...." She spoke softly, sternly.
She should have turned around and pretended she never saw any of this. What was she supposed to say now?
Awwkkwaaardd.
"You've made a very responsible decision, Miss Flores." Despite neither of them being terribly responsible in arranging this meetup well after curfew. But at least they didn't have many student onlookers, which she guessed was what they wanted.

His becoming a full auror was both totally wicked and terrifying. Arya didn't WANT him to be a auror, risking his life everyday to save people and being all superhero. She'd sleep much better at night knowing he had a pencil pushing desk job, but that wouldn't make him happy, which by extension would have her down as well. SO. Superhero it was.
"I guess so," She could tell that he was thinking about other things, and he could probably also tell that she was still thinking about Sabel. Of course.
She shrugged her shoulders, bringing herself back to reality some. "I don't know. He wasn't there when I went over." And Arya hadn't cared enough to ask if that was so, but she wouldn't be surprised. Simon was a gryffindor too, and training to be an auror seemed the way for those crazy lions to go.
"Yeah... I'm out of coco." And she's seen the view, so they could leave now, yes? Her gaze went from the grounds to him. "Walk with me to get some more?" To the great hall since the kitchens were STILL closed.
Arya was going to be forever worried about their friends taking this career paths that always led to...being on the edge of danger. That's why Treyen was considerate enough to take 'acting' so Arya wouldn't have to worry about him.
Riiiight.
"Well, at least we know he's alright." That's what counted. And he could always ask around if he was soooo interested about finding out what the former Captain was up to.
She was kidding, right? She didn't even have to ask. He'll do more than just walk with her, "I'll escort you." He said, suddenly getting up and offering his arm for her to take.
She laughed along with William. "Yeah there is no explanation for that. Guess we'll never know!" she laughed. Wait, huh? Chelsea was confused by what he meant. "Sorry, but..huh?" she said laughing a little. She could be such a blonde sometimes, even though she recently changed her hair back to its original dark brown.
" You had to agree with me being crazy, thanks a lot" Willaim teased Chelsea." I was just pretending England and Italy were close and said we are practically neighbors" Willaim told Chelsea

While he could feel her touch on his hand, the idea of letting her free, letting her go, was getting more and more diffciult for him as every single moment passed. But he knew he had to be resistant. He was, indeed, resistant to pain. Any kind, dimension and amount of it .However...he had to accept the fact that he was weaker when it came to emotional pain. Still, since he loved her with all his heart, all his concerns were to make her happy. And if she would not be happy with him. So be it. He had to accept it no matter how painful it was to him.
As she spoke, he just listened to her in his deep silence. Just looking at her with a small smile. She loved him. Yes, he believed it. But apparently it was not the kind of love he had for her. It was not enough...to accept to marry him. And Josh knew he had to face facts. She did not have to love him, at all. It was not really love if he forced her in it anyway, was it?
''I understand.'' he murmured a moment after she was done with her words. He did not mean to lie to her but he did not know what he could say or how he could explain what he felt and thought. So he said that even though there was a lot that he did not understand.
He failed to see a reason why she would not marry him if she said she loved him. If she did not want to marry, then...he did not want to think about it anymore.
''Look. You have to leave now...okay? Just...''
...leave.
But it was too late. It was too late when he recognised Professor Hadley's voice before he could even land his eyes on her. Gah. They were caught. See? Now the head girl was going to suffer the detention dungeon because of him.
''I told you.'' he whispered to Evelyn before turning to look at Hadley who, surprisingly, did not look angry or in any other mood to send them to the detention dungeon.
''Professor Hadley.'' the Gryffindor boy said, maybe as a greeting. The situation was awkward and...what she said next totally offended him. He was already in a bad mood so knowing a professor, one of his favourites, thought not marrying him was a responsible decision offended him.
What was next? Was she going to give the Slytherin girl an award for getting rid of him?

Did he really understand?
Searching his face, her head shook from side to side just the slightest. He didn't look like he understand what she was saying. What she really meant. Perhaps he did though, and it just wasn't acceptable to him. Her heart sunk even more at the thought. She didn't want to lose him, but she didn't want to be...
He was still telling her to leave.
The shaky breathes appeared again, but before she could speak, another voice not their own had reached her ears. Quickly looking to the owner, a wave of defeat washed over her as she recognized Professor Hadley. Josh's 'I told you' didn't help either. How long had she been standing there!? Taking a small step away from the Gryffindor boy, her movements were frozen once Hadley spoken up again. Evelyn had not been expecting to hear that from the professor; especially one that caught two students out of bed.
Blinking in surprise, confusion, hurt, and whatever emotion that decided to squeeze their way into the mix, the Slytherin girl fiddled with her necklace turning her gaze to elsewhere...anywhere but the professor. There may have been a slight nod in there somewhere, if only to greet Hadley instead of as an answer to what she said. Words were gone. She just wanted to go back to her dormitory.
Alas though, she had to wait. Wait for whatever punishment they were going to receive or to at obtain permission to be excused.

"Always to know," She agreed with a smile. Still talking about Sabel? Maybe. But she meant it for both boys. Arya didn't wish ill on anyone except that one time with Chicken Girl and hated bad news.

Yes, exactly.
The smile he was wearing remained in place, and he straightened himself when Arya's arm was around his. They probably looked a little bit odd, but...whatever. The boy still froze when he heard the word 'sweet'. That was one word that was strange to hear. So, he mentioned nothing and simply smiled before he started to lead her towards the Castle.

Ronnie looked at her frowning. She wasn't sure what that meant. Why was she frowning. Ronnie wished that she could read her mind and know what was going on. She sighed and shifted her weight around a little but. She wasn't sure why she couldn't sit still.
"I'm glad to hear you teams doing good." Ronnie said wondering if there as a hidden meaning behind her statement of team. But Ronnie hadn't been to a quidditch match all term so she had no idea how her own team was doing, let alone Ravenclaw. She looked up at Ellie and smiled.
"Thanks for talking to me." She said still thinking it was nice to finally be able to talk about her dad and not be able to cry about it. "How's school going for you then?" Ronnie added.

It was funny, actually, how on her day off of Quidditch, she was talking about it. Or maybe it wasn't funny at all. The girl had no life outside of Quidditch anyway, there wasn't really much more for her to talk about.
Mhm, the Ravenclaw team was good. Ellie was not. That was all.
"'Course." Though Ronnie had been the one to strike up a conversation.
School. Worst subject ever. "School's school," she said shrugging, "I'm thinking of starting to study for OWLs soon." Granted, she'd been thinking about studying for a while now, but hadn't gotten there yet. Quidditch had come before that. She wasn't too keen on studying anyway. And, no, she would not be studying on the day she wasn't supposed to play Quidditch. What torture that would be.
OWLs did worry her, though. But...her mindset was back on a 'whatever happens, happens' philosophy. If just for today. If she passes seven exams, then her mom would be the happiest person in the world, if she didn't, then her mom would be disappointed. Didn't really affect Ellie much either way. She would be following the Quidditch career path, right?
"How's school for you?"

"Whoa!" Poor Brae nearly slipped on the icy ground when Ruby grabbed his arm and pulled him all of a sudden. Oh Merlin. She was so close now, using his eyes as mirrors, that the boy could feel her breath warming his cold skin. He stared at his reflection in her own eyes, surprised to find a look of absolute terror on his expression. Was that really what he looked like every time he saw Ruby!?
As the girl released him, Braeden rubbed his wrist. There was a small handprint now adorning it.
"I-- I didn't mean to!" the Gryffindork immediately replied when Ruby accused him of poking her eye out. "It was an accident, I swear! You know I'd never hurt you on purpose, Bubs…" Didn't she know him by now?!
And then she was asking what he was going to do to make up for it. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa'?!
Braeden's jaw fell to the floor for a moment before his expression turned into a more wary one, his brown eyes narrowing at the girl. He wasn't going to fall for THAT again! Brae might've not been the sharpest tool in the shed, but he was smart enough to learn from his mistakes. Specially the really huge mistakes. Like jumping into ponds naked while a girl stole your clothes and your girlfriend came out of nowhere and thought you were cheating on her.
At that moment, Braeden pulled out his wand. Luckily for him, his wandwork had improved 736745% this term, much thanks to the NEWTs scare. With a wave, the boy conjured up a small bag of ice and handed it to Ruby. This was his way of 'making up for it', no way was he going to do another crazy dare! "Here you go."
Ruby waited and waited for his response, hoping for something along the lines of, 'I'd do anything..' But of course, that did NOT happen because the stupid lion boy had turned smart on her. For a millisecond anyway.
The lioness took the bag of ice he conjured for her, stared at it for half a minute and then...WHACK!! She hit Brae square in the face with it. "Why thank you, love," She said with gritted teeth. And then she proceeded to stomp away and scheme some more. WHY DID SHE HAVE TO GO AROUND GIVING BRAINS TO PEOPLE?!!! GRR.
When he mentioned Ryan her smile quickly faded. "I haven't seen him much, and when I do we don't talk much" she admitted. It made her a little sad but maybe he was still upset about his mother. "I think hes still upset about his mother though, which I completely understand" she explained to William. Hopefully William knew, but if not hopefully Ryan wouldn't get mad at her for telling him.
" Oh, I feel bad for you" Willaim told Chelsea. " Ryan is such a nice boy and that does not sound like him at all" Willaim said to Chelsea. " Hw probably is worried about her, but you both could talk about it as you would probably help him get through it" William expalined to Chelsea. "Do you want me to talk to him for you?' Willaim asked Chelsea." I like to see you happy" Willaim smiled.

"I know, it isn't like him at all" she agreed with William. She really cared about Ryan and hoped he would be ok. "I've tried comforting him, but I really don't know how. I've never had a family member die before" she explained. It was a bit hard to comfort someone not knowing what their feeling. "Please, will you talk to him for me? It might help" she asked.

Braeden looked pretty pleased with himself as Ruby took the bag of ice he'd handed her. HA! He'd managed to get out of the situation without doing any crazy dares! He. Was. A genius.
One point for Stonem.
And then Ruby hit Brae with the bag, right on the face.
-384758 points for Stonem now.
"OW!" With his nose now feeling like it had just been hit with a hammer, Braeden had to, ironically enough, take the ice bag Ruby had just hit him with and place it on the bridge of his nose to numb the pain away. What had THAT been about?!
Of course, Ruby had figured out his plan. "Bubs!"
But the girl was already stomping away. Brae watched her go and winced. His nosseeeeeee! How could she do this to him?! ;_______;
