| | | The Egg Hatching
After an entire term of taking care of mysterious metal eggs, each with odd little quirks and particular preferences for heat and cold and damp and dry, its time to see if they will hatch! Professor Schirmer has set up the charms classroom with no desks. Instead there are comfy squishy cushions everywhere for the students and the eggs to be comfortable.
The professor is at the front of the room and there are instructions on the board. Quote:
To those of you who participated in the term-long egg assignment, it is time to see if all your hard charms work and care paid off. Please take a seat and cast the following charm on your egg. Quote:
Incantation: Effringo (Ef- frin -goh)
Wand Movement: Tap
Focus on your egg hatching. Remember it might not hatch based on how well you took care of it.
When you are done and you have a hatched egg (or a non-hatched one, in which case you may keep your egg and use it as a paper weight or similar) you may leave. You will receive marks regardless of whether or not your egg hatches. You may ask the professor questions if you wish.
OOC: Its time to hatch your eggs! You should manage this in two posts. Your first post should be settling in and casting the charm, the second will be the result of the charm and you will need to PM Tegz to find out what hatches!
If you have completed at least 6 entries of your egg journal, you may choose HATCH or NOT HATCH. Please title your PM with one of these options. Within your PM please link to your journal post!
If you have not yet managed to do the journal, you can still participate, but your egg will NOT HATCH.
You can still work to do some of the journal before posting here and PMing if you wish.
You will get a PM back from me with the contents of your egg! Then you may RP the hatching and a reaction.
The hatching is marked out of ten points as follows:
Creativity: /5
Completion: /5
Total: /10
Remember that the final was a term long assignment. With the journal, you'll get up to fifty points! Here are the details about the assignment as a whole.
Have fun. You have TWO DAYS from the time and date of this post.
Please note your hatched egg will come with a little blurb of what it means/does! You can feel free to include this as an actual note within your egg, or find out the information on your own. Take whatever approach that you wish, you won't lose marks from doing one thing or another with it, its mostly just for fun.
Additionally, there are different contents in each egg. Even if you get the same figurine the charms and the note will be different. It is assigned quite randomly and there are no swaps or take backs. Have fun! |

Too nervous and excited, Kennedy sat on the ground and left the entire cushion to Hilbert. He kept fidgeting with his hands as he saw that some of other's eggs were already hatching. Was his not going to hatch? He extended his arm and slightly poked it.
Maybe Hilbert was sleeping?
Right then the egg tipped over, and that made Kennedy think that it was a dud. So, he's been carrying an empty egg after all this time? No. That couldn't be possible. It moved and reacted to the weather and to Puff. He was about to stand up when he could have sworn that Hilbert shook. Kennedy sat back down and just stared at it... And, it did it again!
The egg began to shake and wobble, rolling slightly on the cushion. Then a crack on the side appeared, the another one, and suddenly the egg was covered in cracks. If Kennedy would have blinked he would have missed the birth of Hilbert Escalante --yes he gave him his last name. The small pup bounced out of its shell and looked up at the world, wagging it's tiny tail.
He was the most adorable thing Kennedy has ever seen. The boy extended his arm once more and petted the metal pup. He was SO cute! Kennedy also liked Hilbert's ability to alert him of trouble. Hehehe.
Kennedy picked up the egg shells, picked his bag up, and Hilbert in his other hand. This was the best project ever. Before exiting the class he turned to the professor. "Thanks for a great project," he said, lifting the pup so she could see it. "Have a great summer." And with that he left with a big smile on his face.

Isobel was really excited. She had been waiting almost all term for this; the chance to find out what her little Roza would hatch into. She studied the directions and felt a surge of panic. What if Roza did not hatch? That would be horrible! Isobel really hoped that she had taken good enough care of her, because she thought she had. Isobel sat down at a desk and set her pretty pink and purple swirled egg in front of her. "Effringo," she said clearly, and she tapped Roza, concentrated very hard.

Desiree walked into the Charms classroom beyond excited for this. It was finally time! She held her little egg close to her before setting her down gently onto the cushion. She looked over the directions, repeating the incantation over and over in her head, before realizing she was really nervous about this.
She had had such a great time with Indy.. But what if she had done something wrong.. what if Indy didn't even hatch! Desiree stared at the little blue egg, almost sad to see it go. She took in a small breath, "Are you ready Indy?" she asked quietly, and the egg gave her signature twitch in response. Desiree smiled, feeling a little more confident now.
Picking up her wand she tapped the top of her egg, "Ef-frin-goh" she said very cleary, enunciating and concentrating as much as she could.
As she lifted up her wand Indy began to shimmer, the silver lines swirling around the dark blue egg.
Indigo was ready to come out.

"Alright today's the day, you're going to hatch,"Alyssa told her egg as she took it out of her bag.
She lay it on the table in front of her and taking out her wand she tapped her egg and said, "Ef-frin-goh" As she cast her spell she concentrated on her egg hatching. "Please hatch, please hatch, I want to see what you are" Alyssa whispered to the egg.
She waited and watched and suddenly the egg began to glow.

| Post 2 Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - ❄ Lunar Library Lurker ❄ - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror Gideon watched his egg carefully, still holding it in his hand with the cloth loosely around the lower half as he held it. The fourth year's breath was slowed as he awaited a response to his spellwork, it hitching in his throat as he sensed movement. Was it hatching? Did it work? Oh please oh please let me not be imagining it. *Snip*...*snap*
Sounds were certainly coming from his egg, of that he was now sure. Holding it closer to his ear, Gideon awaited more noises and such and for the apparent hatching to continue. "Come on little egg," he encouraged as he removed it from beside his head and gingerly lowered it back down onto the cushion in front of him. Maybe just maybe it needed a stable perch upon which to escape. *Snap*...*snip*...*crack*
More sounds could be heard as the egg warbled and wobbled in place and the first audible crack could be heard. Since the egg was no longer held the movement became more and more noticable between cracking noises as everything seemed to speed up and race towards its goal until finally one last crack left the egg open to reveal...
A metal elephant?
Gideon certainly wasn't expecting that figuring it to have the chance of being something that as a real animal came from an egg. But it made no difference to him, the fourth year tilting his head slightly as he looked it over. Spotting the other item that had appeared, he then picked up the scroll that had apparently come with it explaining the item, reading it for what it could possibly mean. Quote:
Who needs a remembrall when you have a miniature metal elephant charmed not to let you forget? It even will trumpet to let you know if you've forgotten a detail or two. Unlike a remembrall this little thing can stamp out a message in morse code to let you know exactly what it was you forgot. At least for as long as the charms last! You can even use it as an alarm clock.
Quite interesting...a nice little reminder of important things. Though Gideon wasn't sure how he felt about the fact that apparently fate believed him to be forgetful of such things. Oh well...it was all in good fun and certainly a beautiful item. "I think I shall call ye Babar," he said picking up the elephant and looking at it closer. He remembered the name of a fictional elephant from a book, having been exposed to a mixture of muggle and wizard tales growing up.

With one eye closed and the other one half-closed, Louisa saw the metal egg shudder once... shudder harder.. roll off her lap and into the cushion on the floor. The girl grew rather anxious and she'd opened her both eyes squinting them at the struggling metal egg. C-c-craaack... BAM!
Something jumped out of the cracked egg and Louisa, instinctively, pulled her feet up to the chair with a gasp. Seeing nothing scary or cockroach-y, she gradually let herself relax as she stared at the... rabbit? The metal figure was still on the floor, off the cushions, and the Ravenclaw had to get on her knees to take a better look- You don't want to touch anything mysterious that had just hatched out of a metal egg.
OH! There was a note in the cracked egg too! Phew! Louisa snatched the paper and read: Quote:
Originally Posted by The Note Your egg contains a Jackalope. Wait a minute... What the heck is a Jackalope? Looks like a rabbit with horns. Thats exactly what it is. Muggles thing its a myth but really its just a magical creature and a rather unique one at that. Beware approaching a Jackalope, it looks harmless but actually packs a bit of a punch. Its special skill is one of imitation and mimicking and this little charmed figure helps out there too. If you ever need to use any charms, transfigurations or potions which are made to change your appearance or your voice, this little Jackalope will make it easier. As long as you have it on you the effects of such magic will be stronger and you'll better be able to focus. Impersonations have never been so easy. Better yet you can charm it to say things in your own voice. Useful if you want people to think you're saying something that you're not, or that you're in a room when actually you've already made a sneaky exit. Enjoy it while the charms last! O_________o
Louisa raised one eyebrow at the Jackalope, " You're a HE?" Yes, that was the main surprise. But she'd named HIM a girly name. Pooouuut. Sighing subtly, she grabbed the Jackalope and brought it closer to her face, " You're okay with the name Dalouisa, aren't you? It's not like there are many of your kind to embarrassed among so.." Was that insensitive? Meh.
ANYWAY. She was happy to have a Jackalope! It was unique, useful and educational! Yay!

Tori closed her eyes as she heard the magical, mechanical sound of Harry starting to crack. EEEEEEEEEE! Everyone in the classroom was going to be SOOOOOO SUPAH JEALOUS when they saw that her egg had hatched into...
...a dung beetle. A MECHANICAL DUNG BEETLE?! Seriously, professor?! Tori blinked several, several times, and then several more times and picked up the tiny slip of parchment that had also escaped from her DUNG BEETLE. Quote:
A magically enchanted mechanical dung beetle! This little fella is charmed especially to be able to help with moving extremely heavy objects. Need a hand lifting something? Your little beetle will help and best of all, he fits right in your pocket.
Of course, you could always use the little guy as a paperweight...
Well....well. At least he was useful. Tori shrugged and picked Harry up, squeaking a bit when his little legs started churning. YIKES MAN. He was... he was still HER Harry, right?! Even if he was a DUNG beetle now and not a beautiful peacock or something similar...
"Aww it's okay, Harry," she sighed at last, perching the beetle on her shoulder. "I'll still love ya, I guess. But this means you have to carry my purse and all my books and stuff, ya hear?"
She stood up and scribbled a little, "Thanks, professor, for a great term!" on the back of her parchment, then headed out of the room. Hmmph. Was that a spike-shooting porcupine she saw on Sierra Greengoblin's desk? WELL WHATEVER.
Her DUNG BEETLE could pick Sierra AND her porcupine up single...armedly. So HA.

The moment Kurumi's wand struck the metal, the egg began to vibrate violently. Kurumi squeaked rather loudly and her eyes widened like an owl's. Vibrating...was it shivering?! Did that mean that she needed to cool it down using the proper charm? Kurumi pointed her wand at Aristotle and was just about to cast another spell when...it stopped vibrating all together and remained as still as the Black Lake's waters at midnight on her lap.
o___________________O
Had she...killed it?! Wait, that was impossible considering that Aristotle had never been alive to begin with, right? Her hands trembling a bit, she picked the egg up off her lap and held it in her hands. It didn't feel warm or cold to the touch, but was at a pleasant room temperature as it should be. She studied its intricate design, not noticing any differences, and a small smile appeared on her face. Well, she had told it that it could be whatever she wanted it to be and if that meant it would stay as it was as an egg then she was perfectly fine with that.
"It's alright, Aristotle," she whispered. "You don't have to hatch if you don't want t----"
Kurumi was just about to put Aristotle back in her bag when she heard a sort dinging noise similar to that of a wind chime. Odd...there was no breeze in the classroom. Kurumi looked down at Aristotle once more and saw that his intricate design was swimming around, lines were moving up and down and in all sorts of directions until they eventually lined up with one another. The once almost floral Victorian pattern on the silvery surface was gone and had been replace by a single thick crevice down the middle. Kurumi continued to blink as the chiming noise ceased and Aristotle shook in her hand slightly. In the middle of the crevice, a circular design about the size of a sickle appeared and Aristotle whistled once. Was she...supposed to touch it?
Kurumi swallowed and pressed her finger against the shape. Instantly the metal began to break, top to bottom, like shattered glass...only the bits vanished before they could hit the floor. Kurumi squeaked with eager anticipation. He was hatching! Kurumi was going to get to see the real... "KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Kurumi stared at the thing in her hand and tried not to scream again. Kurumi loved all creatures, big and small, but insects were something that always made her skin crawl...and an ant was definitely one of those creatures. It could have been worse, she could have had a cockroach or a spider in her hand and then she most certainly would have passed out right there on the spot. She swallowed again and tried to calm her trembling hands. "Ar-Ar-Ari-Aristotle?" she squeaked almost hoping that the ant wouldn't turn to look at her. Fudge. It did and even wiggled its metal antennae at her as if to say 'It's me!'
She looked at the ant and into its beady metal eyes when...she saw a glimmer of something. She couldn't explain it, but something in that moment told her that it really was the same egg just in a sort of creepy new state. Hadn't she just told her egg that he should be whatever it wanted to be? She was being rather hypocritical right now wasn't she? She picked up the ant and held him like a puppy in her arms in front of her face. She then noticed that he had something engraved on his abdomen and she squinted to try and make it out. "This little ant is a hard working little thing. Mechanical and charmed to last, he's uncrushable and has great stamina. Its charmed to help with packing and storage, even when the things that need to be packed and stored are a bit more like a tetris game than anything else. This little planner will help inspire you to keep things ordered and in their proper place, and maybe even remind you that nobody can get you down if you work hard enough." She peeked up to look at Aristotle's face again. It sounded a lot like her. A reflection of herself in charmed metal form.
"Welcome to the world, Aristotle," she smiled. This assignment had been yet another example of not judging a book by its cover or, as the case may be, the contents of an egg by its shell.
"Thank you, professor," Kurumi said with a small bow as she approached the women. "For a lot." Not just about charmswork either. Kurumi had learned so much more from her teaching this term and hey! she hadn't melted a single thing! "I will see you at the closing feast."
And with that, Kurumi exited the room with Aristotle held proudly in her hand.

POP!!!
The egg was slightly deforming. The edges were slowly breaking apart. Louisa was finally coming. Erin's thoughts were randomly changing from different places wherein she could bond with her metal egg. Ooops! She'll never be a metal egg again. Or rather, not just an egg. A shiny dark silver metal creature was coming out from the broken shell. "Whoa!" cried Erin. What kind of something was that?
And finally, it was the result of all her hardwork. The note that came with it says... "Oh no! You're a he! That's a big problem," Erin chuckled. All this time, she was pertaining to her egg as a girl with the name Louisa. Now what? "First. I need to change your name," said Erin thinking for a while. "Booboo. From now on, that'll be your name. Can't think of any better." Erin smiled and hugged her... wombat? She didn't even know there's something of an animal like that. But hey, Booboo's a Ravvie too. Yay!

Why is Quiglee not hatching? Why?
Beezus looked at the egg on her hand. It stopped moving but it wasn't hatching. She was having the feeling that it wasn't going to hatch anymore. If that would happen, then..then..she did not know! She badly wanted for the egg to hatch. But if she hadn't taken care of it enough then she didn't have the right to request for such. "It's fine with me." If you're not going to hatch. She whispered to the egg. Really, if she failed then that was going to be partly her fault. And she just had to accept it.
She was about to stand up and approach Professor Schirmer and tell her that Quiglee didn't hatch when the egg started to vibrate. Beatrice returned to her seat, wide-eyed staring at the egg still clutched in her hand. Maybe it was going to hatch after all?
A low crackling sound followed and sure enough, the a crack was starting to form on the egg's surface. "Quiglee." the Ravenclaw girl stuttered, as she held the egg with her two hands. It cracked more, drawing what seemed like an irregular line that cut separated the surface in half. As this was happening, Beezus was all dumbstruck. She actually couldn't believe that her egg was actually hatching. But--what if it doesn't have anything inside it?
However, her negatives thoughts were ended when from the egg emerged a metal figure. An animal, with a long neck, it was small and she knew she could just hold it with one hand, "A giraffe." She identified. Just then a note followed the emergence of the figure. Beezus quickly unfolded it and read it. "Heh." was all she could say after reading it. Reach for the top no matter how far away it is. She looked at Professor Schirmer. Her first term was the best she ever had. And their Charms Professor was someone she could never forget. Much like the figurine clutched in her hand.
She stood up merrily and approached Professor Schirmer, "Uhm.. Professor. Thank you." She beamed. "For everything." Not just this long term assignment but for all the lessons that she had learned while spending her time with Quiglee. "I do hope you'll still be here next year." Because if she would be, surely Beezus would look forward more for Charms. "See you at the Feast Professor." And with a bow she walked out of the classroom.

Yup, Hatching Day.
Janice had waited quite long for this thing. It would be really cool to see a metal chicken emerging from the depths of the shell of the metal egg. She positioned Egg in front of her and took out her wand.
A wave of panic hit Janice square in the face. What if it won't hatch? She and Egg would be an embarrassment to the Wizarding World; not being able to take care of a simple silver egg for a term. Anyways, it's spell-casting time.
Concentrating, she said "Enfringgo!" while tapping the egg with the very tip of her wand. Hatch? No hatch?

Minerva was waiting patiently she started wondering if she did something wrong. Sparkles was quiet and not moving. That was odd for Sparkles. Sparkles was always moving and always trying to get away. Minerva knew she had to chase the egg all the time. She bit her lip and worried that the term was going to end with more sadness. She was about to gather her things when Sparkles began to move again. A smile crossed Minerva's face. The egg wiggled and moved a crack in the metal started to appear. Minerva gave the little egg room. A nose poked through and then the rest of it. "A metal object" Minerva said aloud a little confused. She had thought it was a real thing this entire time. She should have figured being a magical world. She looked closer at the little object moving around. "A badger"
"Well Hello Sparkles" Minerva said as she pet the little object. Then she saw a note. Quote:
Look its a badger! The bold and fearless badger is quite the inspiration. Its always ready to fight for what it wants and never backs down. A badger is also a nature lover and connected to the outdoors from all that burrowing. This particular metal figure is charmed to help with healing herbs in particular. It will snuff them out and let you know what plants and herbs are safe to eat and which aren't. Best of all this badger fits in your pocket. Even when the charms run off you could always keep it to remind you of all the wonderful things a badger stands for.
Minerva looked at the note and back at the badger. "Well Sparkles I am so excited to finally see you." She picked up the cute little badger and played with it a bit. Then she decided she better head back to the common room. "Good Bye Professor. Thank you so much for everything this term." Holding Sparkles close she made her way out of the room.

Slowly, the egg cracked, allowing a tiny figure to appear on top of it. It's a duck!! Janice was overwhelming with happiness because she had succeded in 'growing' Egg although it gives a lot of pressure and annoyance during classes. And don't mention all the squirming, rolling, running, dropping, and the tickling it had done to her.
Janice eyed the duck closely. It sure is made of metal, just like the egg. She noticed a small piece of parchment that had probably fallen off when the egg hatched. She picked it up and read it in her heart. Quote:

At least while the charms last. And remembering that Janice had not been able to blew up a nice and clear Bubble-Head Charm last term, this thing might just be useful. But would it break the Restriction of Underage Magic? she asked herself. I should really ask that to Professor Schimer.
She then stood up while cleaning her work space. "Thank you, Professor, for great lessons this term!" she said while smiling. And that was when she saw Minnie. She got badger. How lucky...

Alyssa waited as the glow enveloped the entire egg. The swirls on Queenie started to move and swirl around even more. It looked like the swirls were coming alive. The color of Queenie became brighter and brighter. It became so bright, that Alyssa had almost had to shield her eyes from the brightness. Then she heard a small sound. It sounded like a crack. Alyssa moved closer to the egg and sure enough, there was a noticeable crack in the shell. " Oh no, I do hope the shell is not cracking because I didn't take proper care of it. Please let it be hatching. Please let it be hatching!" Alyssa whispered to herself.
As the pieces started falling off the egg, Alyssa tried to look to see what was inside. She first saw something metallic, and then ears, and then a head, and then the rest was revealed. It was a beautiful tiny metal horse.
Queenie was a beautiful metal horse. Alyssa was so excited and happy. She then noticed a little piece of paper that had fallen out when the egg shell cracked and was lying on the desk next to the figurine. Quote:

With this little bewitched object on your person you won't ever get nauseous traveling, whether its in muggle ways or by floo, apparition, broom or other magical means. Such travel will be safer too. No splinching for you and no flooing to strange locations by accident. It makes a marvelous little portkey to get you home when you're stranded too.

Alyssa read the little inscription inside. It was a travel charm. That was even better. Since she had to fly back to Salem, she definitely needed all the protection she could get. She quickly picked up Queenie and immediately took out her wand and waving it all over the horse, said " EXCOLO". A bright beam shot out from her wand and covered the entire horse. When it disappeared, Queenie shone even brighter than ever. Alyssa smiled, picked up her precious gift and kissed it on the head. She then cleaned up the pieces of the shell and slipped it into her pocket as a momento and then walked up to the Professor.
" I just wanted to say thank you Professor for having me in your classes. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it, and hope that I will be attend more of them. I hope that you have a great summer." With a smile, Alyssa walked away eager to show off her new horse to Janice and Minerva.

Miss Puff prefect bounced into the charms classroom for the last time this term excitedly with Muffs in tow. The little egg seemed content enough in her pocket and not acting like today would be the day she'd hatch! Big day indeed. "Hey, Professor." She greeted the woman with a bright smile, and then went to reading the instructions. Easy enough. Arya settled down on a cousin by the window and pulled Muffs out of her pocket. The enchanted egg got her own cushion, but before Arya placed her on it, she admired the handy work and reminisced on all her hard work with Muffs.
Good times.
Her excitement didn't allow for too much reminiscing though, as she was ready for the hatchling to emerge. The prefect placed Muffs on her own cushion and flicked her wrist, giving her wand a little twirl. "Lets make this surprise a good one, 'kay, Muffs?" Of course whatever was inside had to be awesome.
Arya wasn't worried.
She tapped the enchanted egg gently. "Effringo."

Hogwarts RPG Name: Kiana Desiree Remora Fifth Year | Post #2 two sides of the same coin
Desiree was holding her breath. The silver lines began to get brighter and brighter and the whole egg started to shake. It seemed like it was going to burst open.. and that's exactly what it did. There was a bright flash of light, and Desiree was blinded for a minute. But she could hear the sound of cracking, like it was spreading over the egg. When she could see again she looked down and saw that the metal egg had been flung open, it had broken apart along the lines, like puzzle pieces. And in the middle of of it all sat a little gold....
Awww it was so adorable! Desiree quickly scooped the little thing up into her hands. It even had little gems on it! "Indy, you're a mouse!" she said smiling and looking down at her, yes she would still call her Indigo. She had to admit it wasn't what she was expecting though, she figured it would be something real..
..Desiree jumped almost dropping the mouse on the ground when it started moving in her hand. "You can move too?" she asked in shock. She figured a metal mouse, must just be well metal. But she should have known.. it was a charmed metal mouse, from a charmed metal egg. She was petting Indy who had started to wiggle her ears, when something caught her eye in the pile of blue metal. It was a little miniature scroll. Desiree carefully unrolled it to reveal a message: Quote:
... eeeek! A mouse! Well don't eek, because its a cute little mouse and quite decorative. She'll fit right in your pocket and best of all she's charmed for secrecy and stealth. Ever heard the phrase 'as quiet as a mouse'? well you will be with this charmed figurine in your hand. As long as the charms last, you'll be able to sneak around stealthily without being heard, or hide without giving yourself away. But be ware that people can still see you!
So with Indy she could sneak around, and no one would hear her.. it would be great for sneaking up on someone, playing a joke, or eavesdropping. Only.. Desiree wasn't really into that kind of stuff. Either way she thought it was amazing. Indy had turned out to be even more than she had hoped for. But Desiree hadn't missed the line, 'as long as the charms last'.. was Indy only going to last for a little while?
Ah well she wasn't going to worry about that now. She picked Indigo back up again, and gathered her bag, filling it with the leftover pieces of Indy. Wait no Indy was in her hand, that was just a metal shell. This was going to take awhile to get used to..
Holding the little metal figurine in her hand, she walked by the Professor's desk. "Thank you Professor for the great project! You're class has been one of my absolute favorites, I can't wait for next year." She said with a smile and a small wave before walking out, silently. hehe.

As she lifted her wand tip off of the enchanted egg, she watched in amazement as Muffs began to hatch. It was quiet different from watching a real chicken hatch, but the same excitement was there, the fascination increased. What was inside?!
The shell of the metal egg cracked down the center, and Arya leaned forward to peek inside, when a little metal clawed hand stuck out and ripped at the shell. She continued to watch, intrigued as a hole in the egg was made, and out poked a small head. "... Muffs?"
Naturally, the head looked around, observing it's surroundings and checking for danger before it went back to ripping out of the egg. A wide grin spread across Arya's face when she was finally able to see the entire body of her creature. It was a cute little meerkat! "Look at you, Muffs!" The little metal meerkat, standing to her full height, continued to look around until she heard Arya's voice, at which she turned her attention to the prefect, scurrying off her cushion and into Arya's outstretched palm. Noticing a note on Muffs' abandoned cushion, she retrieved it with her free hand and read it over. Quote: Its a meerkat! The meerkat is a creature that works hard for the best interests of the group. Its always looking around for trouble, and also for anything of interest, both to protect its family and to share things of note. This particular metal meerkat figurine can be charmed to keep an eye on someone far away, and let you know if they're safe or not. A bit like the legendary Weasley Clock except for with just one person and it stands up and chitters at you if it can see something wrong. Ohhh. AWESOME. Muffs couldn't be a better fit for her! And she knew exactly the person she'd charm Muffs to watch over. Mmhmm. Clearly pleased with her little hatchling, the prefect rose from her cushion, slipping the note into her pocket, and heading over to the professor. "Thank you, Professor. For this epic gift." She beamed at the woman, still holding Muffs in her hand (such a good little meerkat she was, still looking around for trouble), then turned and headed out of the classroom, chattering to her new little creature. "You know, Muffs. If I enlarge you sweater, you can still wear it!" Yay!
