"My aunt and uncle gave me the choice" she said. Sure she missed them a lot over the holidays but she had a lot of fun here. And wished Violet could have been here too, not at home where it clearly sounded like she had a miserable time.

"Its so pretty and amazing during Christmas. A giant tree was set up in the great hall and there was a really pretty tree here in the common room too with all our presents from our family" she paused "I spent a lot of time outside, I just love the winter and the snow. But it was fun to just see friends and not have to worry about classes" she explained.

"Yeah," Violet said glumly, thinking of all the review lessons Miss Howard had made her do. Still, she thought, brightening up, she had got a really nice, new journal for Christmas, and a potions book, and a box of Muggle candy from her uncle (as well as some 'respectable clothes' from her grandfather and uncles--could there be anything more boring than clothes for Christmas?!)

"Say," she continued, "have you ever seen a Muggle film? My uncle took me to see one on Boxing Day--it was full of people travelling around in those automobiles they have and blowing things up and stuff. It was pretty interesting."

"Actually I have seen a few muggle films, my aunt and uncle have a ton at home. There actually very interesting" she admitted. What was the name of that one film she watched...hmm.. oh well she couldn't think of it at the moment. "Its actually quite funny to watch muggle movies about magic, wizards, werewolves, and such I've seen one before" she paused "And it was very inaccurate" she laughed.

"Where is it, where is it, WHERE IS IT??" Cass cried out as she turned her covers out, flipped the mattress of her bed over, dug out practically all the contents of her trunk, checked under the bed and finally, checked Ice's abandoned kitty bed, only to find the object of her panic sitting there snugly. Well, not so snugly as it was shaking badly. Maybe it got scared of the ruckus that she had made? But no, that would be silly, eggs can't get scared, much less metal eggs! But hey, they didn't shake - or rather, shiver - either, and here was an egg in her hands, shivering like a leaf in autumn.

"There you are!" She exclaimed happily as she hugged the egg to her, acting like a mother who had almost lost a child in Diagon Alley "I've been so worried!" Then, as if realizing how crazy she must look, she closed her mouth and glanced around the mess that she had made. Oops.

She brought out her wand and waved it over the disaster area that was known as her part of the room and said "Scourgify." effectively bringing her bed back to its former glory. Then she flicked her wand to her trunk, which was standing their with her clothes lying haphazardly around and said "Pack" sending them to fold on their own and stow themselves into her trunk in an orderly fashion. Perfect.

When all evidence of her earlier panic attack had been cleaned up, she climbed up on bed and hugged the egg -which was still shivering- to her chest.

"You must be cold." She told the metal egg, taking a moment to remember what the right spell for that was, then she pointed her wand to it and said "Argentum Calidus", and sure enough, the egg stopped shivering.

Then she leaned back against the headboard and began to stroke it gently, as if she had been stroking her cat before, and told it "You need a name." Then she closed her eyes for a moment and thought, what did metal have that can be considered as a name? Well, she remembered something about alloys and all that...she couldn't recall where she remembered it from at the moment, but all kinds of metal seemed to have them...but there was no way she was naming it Alloy. Suddenly, her eyelids flew open and smiled. Heh, she was such a genius. "From now on, you shall be named Allie." Brilliant.

Sitting on her bed reading a book, Katie started at Cass and giggled, watching Cass being worried about her egg made Katie think about hers, maybe she should check on Eggy? Katie opened the slightly open draw to see the metal egg, luckily her's wasn't somewhere were it wasn't meant to be. The blonde placed the egg infront of her and remembered that she should probably clean the egg, she checked her pocket for her wand... it wasn't there, where was it? Think Katie.... She tried to remember where she put it, oh yeah, she opened Eggy's draw and there it was, good, so she pointed her wand at Eggy and said "Excolo" and the egg was nice and clean again.

Katie smiled and started to read again as she had stopped in the middle of a page, so she was going to finish the chapter and then continue caring for little Eggy.

Finishing the page Katie was alarmed to see that the egg was being pulled off the bed by two.... paws? Katie looked beside the bed and saw the mischief fox like cat staring curiously at the egg, "No Vixy!" Katie screamed at the cat, she did not want Vixy to break her egg or anything, she actually liked taking care of the egg, big surprise.

Vixy moved her paws back to beside her body when Katie yelled at her, and "Meow"ed as saying sorry, but Vixy wasn't giving up that easily, nope, she walked slyly to the front of the bed and got ready to jump, she took a peek and saw Katie reading again, and thats when Vixy jumped up on the bed and pawed at the egg.

"No Vixy!!!" Katie yelled more stern at the cat, and with that she quickly grabbed the egg off Vixy before she could do damage to it and put it in its draw, "Vixy thats my egg for charms, named Eggy, I need to take care of the egg, please don't" Katie explained to the cat, yes, she was talking to her cat, and did she care that people may stare? Not really no, and with that Vixy jumped off the bed to the opposite side to the draws and layed down to have a nap, and Katie smiled, getting the egg back out and placed it where it was before.

"I hope your not damaged Eggy" The slytherin said checking every edge on the egg, then lifting it up again and she noticed that the egg felt a little dry, that couldn't be good, another excuse to use magic now!

Placing the egg back down and taking out her wand, but before the spell the egg seemed to wiggle, Katie wondered why, curiouser and curiouser, "Argentum Humidus" She said, then lifting the egg back up, wasn't damp anymore, Katie watched the egg curious if it would wiggle again like it did before, was it trying to her something? How odd, Katie was going to keep a keen eye on it to see if that happened again. Katie deicded it was enough eggy caring today, and placed it back on the pillow in the draw and continued reading, but before she started reading again, "Vixy" Katie called, and the cat raced onto the bed and sat on Katie's lap, smiling, Katie then started reading.

Violet laughed to think of the kinds of things that Muggles might put in a film about wizards and magic. She could only imagine. On the other hand ... "Still, it can't be much worse than some of the things witches and wizards think about Muggles. I'll have to ask my uncle to take me to one of those next time--I'll bet he never has because he might think it would offend me." She stopped to think fondly of her odd-ball uncle for a minute; he always gave good value!

"So, what else did you do during the holidays? Did Hogwarts have a Christmas dinner?" She thought for a minute about all the odd problems with the House Elves they'd been having, ever since Opening Feast, and she hoped that her friend had at least gotten some food during the break. Dull as her own family dinner had been, at least the food was always top notch. Her grandfather would insist on that.

Desiree had to think really hard for awhile, did she remember her exact hair color? After a long pause she finally answered "Well I do, but then maybe I don't really.." she said and then laughed at her indecisive answer. She really didn't want to mess up Nora's hair, what if she turned it orange.. her hair always turned orange when she tried the spell..

Out of nowhere she said "No It's ok, I can do it. I'm almost positive I remember." she gave her an encouraging smile and pulled out her wand. But she immidiately regretted it, if she did something wrong she might never trust her again.. oh well she had to try, still looking like she knew what she was doing she aimed at her hair, looking to Nora one more time to make sure she was ok with it, and then said very clearly, "Intaris!"

She looked at her hair, trying not to gasp, it wasn't orange.. it was BLUE. O_o not wanting her to see it, she said quickly "Hmm, um didn't quite work, I'm just going to try it again.." pointing her wand again she said, "Intaris!" Please work, please work, please work..

.."Nora I think it worked!" she said beaming at the second year, practically jumping up and down. She ran over to her bag and held up a mirror for her. As far as she remembered that was definitely the right color!

Victoria held her metal egg securily in her hands, and being quite protective of her egg. She gently laid her egg to her pillow. What exactly should Victoria name her egg? It does seem quite strange to name an egg, but this egg needs a name!

Her eggs seems quite cold from the weather oustide. It's time for the first spell. Victoria took out her wand and said, "Argentum Calidus!" as she did a graceful swish and tapped gently on the egg. Victoria then laid one finger on her metal egg.

Good. Nice and warm.

"You have to watch one. I found it rather amusing actually" she laughed. Ahh the things muggles thought about this unknown world.

"Yes there was a feast it was really nice. Better then the opening feast, silverware was actually clean" she paused, basically she had spent the holidays with her friends William and Ryan. Everyone else had went home for the holidays.

"Well, that's good, I was worried for you for a minute there. I would've much rather have stayed at Hogwarts for the holidays, but I do have to admit that the food at my grandfather's is usually really good. I wonder what is up with the elves this year, anyway? Things don't at all seem like the stories I've heard about Hogwarts," Violet mused to herself. Then she suddenly looked over at Chelsea again. "Well, go on, what else happened at Hogwarts during the holidays!?" There surely must be more to it than that, at such a magical place as Hogwarts!

"I missed Christmas with my aunt and uncle, but it was so much fun staying here" she paused "Oh and my aunt and uncle got me a broom!" she continued. Over all she had a great christmas "Well at least the food was good. Anything else happen over the holidays with your family?" she asked Violet.

"As for the house elves I'm not sure. It is very strange, when I lived with my parents they had house elves and they acted nothing like that" she explained. House elves always did what they were told.

Getting back on topic "Oh yeah, well I hung out with a lot of friends mostly. And this boy, Ryan, he got me a gift" she said extending out her arm showing the bracelet to Violet. "It was mostly just a normal Christmas though surprisingly. Well the feast was very over the top but like i said other than that, normal"

"Not really, nothing to write home about," Violet said hurriedly; really, the less said about her lame family holiday, the better. "Oh, but one of the servants--a younger woman--got in major trouble with the cook for going out with this guy that I guess she had been warned to stay away from. That was pretty exciting; they were all stirred up for days afterwards." Violet remembered how exciting it had been hiding in the back corner of the kitchen pantry and listening to the big reveal. That made up for all those wasted hours hanging around in a dark closet for nothing over the years.

"Yeah, something's definitely up with those elves..." Violet muttered. She had intended to find out what was going on since the Opening Feast, but the kitchen had been closed up tight and she hadn't managed to figure out a way to sneak up on the little creatures.

"Whooooaaa!!!" Violet breathed appreciatively as she looked at the bracelet--did Chelsea say she got it from a boy? Ryan?! So this was a different boy from the one who had made Chelsea so upset a few months back. And she was only in first year! Violet could barely manage to have a civil conversation with a boy and couldn't imagine having the stunning social skills that her friend seemed to possess.

She laughed at Violets story. "Well even though your holidays were not that exciting, at least you got to see your uncle you said right?" she said. She knew that Violet disliked her family but liked her muggle uncle.

She looked down at the bracelet "Yeah, his name is Ryan Pictor, he's a first year Gryffindor" she said. Ryan was a nice boy, much nicer than the Ravenclaw who had played with her emotions months back.

Ariana entered the dorm slowly and then flopped in her bed. She was really tired, all the homework that were given to them were hard. She grabbed her pillow and stuffed her head in it. She felt like crying. She never thought 2nd year could get this hard. She had a few friends, but still, something was missing...

Aurora went into the dorm, grinning like an idiot, and plonked herself on her bed. Sebastian looked up, a little annoyed at being awoken so unceremoniously, then saw it was Aurora and ran over to curl up in her lap.

"Come on 'Bastian, I'm not a pillow." Aurora muttered, tickling him behind the ear for a minute then pushing him off and lying on her belly, producing her diary. Sebastian glared at her for a second then padded over to her bedside table and began to tease Flo, the pot plant. The pot plant that bites.

Aurora scribbled in her diary for a bit, taking down all the awesome stuff that had happened in the last week, sure, it wasn't as good as January but it was still awesome. And Valentines day had been awesome... That reminded her; she was still clasping the white lily in one hand. She took out an empty potions phial and stood it on her bedside table, casting a calming charm on Flo to stop her trying to bite her hand, then she placed the lily in it, filling the phial with water from the tip of her wand. Hmm... how was she going to stop Flo from trying to eat it..? Ahh! "Impervius." That would have to do.

Aurora put her diary away and sat up with her back against the headboard, gazing at the lily... wasn't Kennedy the loveliest person in the world?! Tiff had been teasing her about him since the moment she had said his name in her presence but she never thought it would actually happen... Aww, my little sister's in love! That's so adorable! Aurora had denied it completely - even now she wouldn't agree - she had no idea what love really was, and she didn't care. Krys' reaction had been considerably different... she frowned at the memory. Got your first proper boyfriend, sis? Tell him this, if he ever hurts you I will hunt him down and curse him into oblivion. Krys was such a... a... a brother! And it was infuriating!

Hmm... she was sleepy, but she really didn't want to sleep. She wanted to watch the lily glow all night...

"Yeah," replied Violet. "Uncle Mitch is always pretty fun--he's an artist, you know, and is pretty eccentric even among other Muggles, I think. And I do really like my governess, Miss Howard, but she's always trying to teach me things, even when we're having fun, and it's not the same as being around other kids, you know?" Violet looked over at the bracelet again and wondered, if she had stayed at Hogwarts over the holidays, whether some boy would've given her jewellry; somehow she rather doubted it. "Ryan's a nice name," she added diplomatically, but secretly hoped her friend wasn't setting herself up for another heartache. Boys were uncanny creatures, for sure, and you couldn't ever count on what they might do next.

"Thats true, I think thats why I love it here so much. Since I am an only child I haven't been around other kids my age much. So here I can just be my self and have fun, not constantly being around all adults" she replied. Being an only child sure was boring, but it also had its positives.
"He's very nice..." she trailed off blushing a little. Chelsea was happy that she decided to stay here over holidays she had a great time between getting to know Ryan, and hanging out with her friends like William.

"I'm an only child, too!" exclaimed Violet. She watched Chelsea smiling and blushing--oh boy, here we go again! Then she remembered something her friend had said earlier. "Which William do you mean? I think I met one, too, in a class before the hols," she said, remembering the Gryffindor Second Year who had helped her in Transfiguration.

"Really? Wow I thought I was the only one!" she said laughing. Most people she met seemed to have siblings. Looking at Violet she saw her expression when Chelsea blushed. I need to hide my emotions better she thought. She wanted to explain to her friend, but most likely she wouldn't understand, after all Violet had seen what Scott did to her. But it felt weird not to tell her best friend about her boyfriend.
"William Starr he's a second year Gryffindor" replied Chelsea. Seems like Violet may know him too.

What a day, phew, Kimalia had enough drama especially at the end of her Quidditch match for now. After her relaxing bath she came back in her Slytherin green colored pajamas before heading to bed.

"Hey Aurora, long time no see" Kimalia asked before eyeing what Aurora was eyeing. "Ooh, what's that you got there?" At a glance she couldn't tell, and was walking to sit near the edge of her bed to get a better look.

Aurora jumped as someone said her name, she turned to see Kimalia. "Hey! How are you?" she said. And then... oh.

"Oh, that? Valentine's day present..." she said, grinning, looking at the lily glowing gently.

"Hmm, not bad." Not bad as in, mainly confused on whether or not she will be getting detention, indeed not bad definitely describes her mood. Ohh, Aurora has a Valentine's present.. Kimalia closed her mouth moving it to her left upward whilst looking up toward the ceiling before looking back at Aurora. "Ohh..from.. who?" Looking closer, Kimalia saw it was definitely a lily, and judging by that grin she had made Kimalia smirk. "An admirer, friend, boyfriend or.. all of the above?"

Aurora blushed a little as she nodded, "All of them I guess..." she said, her smiled widening. "You know Kennedy? He's in fourth year..."

"Oh, that is the William I know!" Violet exclaimed excitedly. "He was my partner in that Transfiguration class where we had to dress up like clowns. I wouldn't have made it through that without him," she added, remembering how lost she had felt looking for a partner and not even knowing what a clown was in the first place. "He was pretty nice, I guess."

Violet did know William. "Yeah he's really nice, he's became one of my really good friends" explained Chelsea. She did talk to William a lot. "I met him one day at the lake, he was the first one, besides you, to actually try cheering me up the day Scott broke up with me" she said. And after that she knew she had made a good friend.
