The class had to start off with a really hard question, didn't it? Ashley thought hard, finding it difficult because he'd never been in a fire and didn't plan to ever be, so he didn't really have any plans of action for such an event. Eventually he raised his hand, though, having come up with an answer. "Since I'd already have my wand, I guess I'd take my homework."
Because that was important. Nothing else was all that important to him. Not important enough to worry about grabbing it before running away from a fire, anyway. But if he'd done any homework, he definitely wanted to make sure he wouldn't have to do it all over again.

Kurumi's eyes widened in surprise a bit. Thank you? She assumed that it was in response to the feathers, because Professor Lafay never said thank you when students greeted. Kurumi nodded and continued to set up her station.
Kurumi thought for a moment. What was something that she couldn't be without. Most students seemed to want to take their wands, but you could always get another one if need be. "My familiar, professor," Kurumi said with her hand raised.

As the first question was being ask, Daichi's twinkles in his eyes died away almost instantly. The smile he had been wearing died together with the twinkles. The usually cheerful student was now looking rather pale and he nervously fumbled with his fingers.

He didn't like fire, he hated it. Daichi stared at his desk as he remembered about what happened when he was seven. He blinked rapidly as to not wanting to show he was almost crying. Luckily , he managed to stay cool but he could feel a cold shiver run down his spine. And it wasn't from the cold dungeons.

The second year listened as the others gave their answers. He sighed as some grabbed things like Journals which sounded stupid to him. After a while, Daichi decided to raise his hand too. "Professor? I would pick nothing. I don't think any of the things that has been mentioned like inanimated objects are worth dying for. I-i'm sorry but i t-think those things can be replaced... But living things like creatures and the other students can't . I think i would try and help my fellow housemates get out."


It was a rather Gryffindor answer but Daichi wasn't someone who went for replaceable inanimated objects when REAL lifes were at stake...

"BUT...if i HAVE to pick something it would be my wand.."

Jayden raised her hand slowly, biting her lip nervously. "Well, just one thing? Hmm... I would take my owl, Snowflake."

Why would the dorm be on fire in the first place? Dorms don't just go burning down with no reason, and with Hogwarts being a magical school with magical occupants you would think nothing would actually end up being burnt.

Everett thought for a few moments before answering. He definitely wasn't going to say anything like books, clothes or homework, he really didn't care about those. His wand maybe, or his guitar. Those were his prized possessions. He raised his hand after he made his decision.

"I would bring my guitar," He said. He couldn't imagine leaving his guitar in a fire, he had had it longer than his wand, and it was special to him.

What will you bring if your dorm caught fire? A hard question. Raven thought hard. Then she answered her question.

"If I just can bring one. I'll take my wand."

Minerva thought for a second. "Well professor if I was able to take anything out it would probably be my wand, but my first priority would be to make sure others were getting out safe." Minerva knew if others were in the dorm she would try helping them and forget about taking any items.

Without a moments hesitation Jesifur flung her arm in the air."Professor I'd have to take Izzy. He's a muggle bobbley head thingy I got from my grandmother."

So, Hug A Slytherin day wasn't exactly a hit with the Head of Slytherin then. What a surprise, not! Wondering which of the other House Heads set that one up, MJ chose a desk and unpacked her things.

"My owl's sensible enough to get out by himself, and my Pygmy Puff follows me everywhere; so I'd have to say, AFTER the other people - and my sister of course, my wand." MJ didn't want to say what she'd really have to save. It was private, personal. The only photo she had of her with her father. Aged two and sitting triumphantly on his shoulders waving at the camera. It was a muggle photograph, her father being a muggle, so it didn't move, no matter how much she poked it with her wand.

Harvey didnt have to think about this even for a second he knew what he wanted to take, he put up his hand "Well first I would help my fellow claws get out safe and then since my wand would be in its holster, I would take my hockey jersey that was gifted to me by a fellow student." he said not looking over at Minnie, he didnt want the Professor to know who gave him the jersey.

Typical cheery start to the day, although a tricky question.
Scott raised his hand "I would either help someone out, or most likely get my cat Oscar" he said trying not to smile.

Daisy rolled her eyes, all fear gone after she had hugged the professor.
'Geez,' she muttered under her breath, 'it's true, you really aren't a cuddle-bear? Why so grumpy, anyway?' Daisy muttered. Couldn't she at least get sent out... She was going to have to sit through a whole potions lesson now, and that wasn't her idea of fun. She didn't even take potions, but then again, it was an oppurtinity to have a little fun. Lafay didn't really scare her anymore, and she wasn't going to take an OWL in potions, so why even bother trying in the lesson?
How dare Lafay say there was no such day. It was true. She had taken part, Rose had taken part too, and probably many others as well...
'Oh?' she said, raising her eyebrows 'I'm not the only one, Professor, ask your house... They've recieved several hugs today... Hug a Slytherin Day does so exist.... And If my dorm was on fire, I would so take my broom,' she added randomly

Aaron frowned, WHY would his dorm catch fire? He burst out into childish giggles at the idea of him setting his bed on fire. But shook his head to clear his mind, what would he take? Really, he had no idea, never having set his house on fire. Well, his tree house had almost burnt down once, but that was an unfortunate mistake. It really was.
He supposed he'd take his wand. But then shook his head.
'I'd take my Plunko.' He said, his hand in the air.
The moment he'd said it he slapped himself for his head, why had he said that? Nobody needed to know he had a plushie-doll that was called Plunko. And that he still slept with it... He grinned foolishly, hoping people wouldn't remember this.

One thing? Only one. Thea sighed. This would be hard. She loved her locket.. but she would have that on.. Maleficent also popped into her head, but she would no doubt get herslef out just fine. She rolled her eyes, smiling slightly. Her wand? Well, she'd already have her wand. Blinking once, Thea raised her hand. 'My photo album..' She almost whispered. It contained much more than just photos for Thea.

Lowering her eyes, she began moving about her things on the desk, while listening to everyone elses' answers.

Well. Indiana surely hoped that her dorm was not going to catch fire. That would be pretty bad. But hopefully that wouldn't happen, or somebody would be able to put it out. But now she needed to think about what she would take. Now she could take her wand...but she could always get that replaced. And she did have her wand in her holster. So technecally that would already be on her, considering she didn't leave that anywhere else. So...hmm. "I'd take my books." Becaue she was a bit of a nerd. But that was good. Because knowledge was power. And Indy liked being nerdy. "I like reading...." Because even if all her stuff had burnt, she would still be able to learn, and that would be good.

Caroline looked around the room as people started saying what they had grab if there was a fire in the dorm. This was just like those What would be one thing you'd want to have with you if you were on a deserted island questions. What would she want to grab and get out of a fire with.

After thinking for quite sometime she decided on something that she had strangely enough wanted to set fire to this summer but didn't she couldn't. So saying that she realized that would be it. She raised her hand "I have a box, and memory box. I'd take that with me." It had just too many irreplaceable things in, she looked over at Kita who knew exactly what kind of things.

'I think I would take my cat', the second year said quickly. Think?, she asked herself. I'm sure I would do so... How could I leave Jinx behind?, the young Ravenclaw thought. However, there's the possibility that her cat might get away faster than her. That way, what would she save? The wand? Nah... I always have it by me. Books? Nah, I am a Ravenclaw- I enjoy reading... but I could find those books everywhere. My notebook, then. Of course, all my drawings are in there! All my notes! All my things about potions, charms and stuff like that.

Why just one thing? Can't you grab at least two? Why couldn't we stop the fire? Gwendolyn thought of several questions while waiting for the Professor's answer.

Hmmm. Lilly raised her hand. "My kitten, Pearl, professor," Lilly answered. Why would her dorm set fire anyway? She thought of her adorable kitten, sitting under the bed with a ball of wool, waiting for her, patiently.

'Hug A Slytherin Day is totally true Professor! Loads of kids around the school take part in it, have you ever tried it? Might be fun! The Slytherins reactions certainly are!' Rose smirked, winking at her friend Daisy. Their reactions were amazing... 'Just trying to difuse the tension!' she said slowly, smirking still. 'I'd bring... My cat, Maxine.' Rose shrugged. Or extra arms to hug more Slytherins with...

Okaaaay...that almost made the Gryffindor jump because, well, he had been half sleeping. Lifting his head from the bag on the desk, Josh gave the Potions Mistress a sleepy look. ''What do you wish me...''

Ooooh, riiiight. ''Sorry, professor. Well...'' he stood up and bowed at the woman before taking a deep breath for a clearer voice.

''Good day, Professor Lafay! I hope you are experiencing a happy day!''

*quick smile*

He could sit back now, right? Anyway, he sat back and was almost leaning his head back on the bag to continue sleeping just when the woman asked the next question. And that was a difficult question...since she said 'one' so before he could speak, the lion boy started to think over it hard to decide.

And Carter's answer made him snort loudly. Hahahahaha...what a good friend he was. He surely knew after having less and less sleep lately, Josh would be too lazy to leave his bed even if there was a fire. But if he happened to be his normal self, he'd try to make sure that every living thing out before he himself escaped the place.

But...Lafay said one. One thing. So...

''I'd try to take the fire itself out, mistress.''

Did that make any sense?

Violet looked at Daisy and her sister, Rose, admiration in her eyes. They were mad. Completely and utterly mad. But so brave at the same time. She groaned. 'I'm related to an idiot...' she decided out loud.

Take one thing out? One thing? She knew that.
'The last letter our Mum sent me.' she said quietly. Violet still hadn't read the letter Rose had left for her. She wanted to read it with a friend. Their Mum was still alive, as far as she knew. She sighed and looked into the professor's eyes, feeling kinda scared. This teacher scared her. Most definitely.

'You have a plush toy?' Violet snickered, whispering to Aaron. 'And I thought you were so manly!' she pouted. That was amazing. She had to throw a party for this. Violet threw parties for any reason. That was why she and Aaron got along so well...

'No..' Aaron lied. Badly. He sighed, 'Yeah I do. Because I am so manly.' He flexed his muscles with a grin and shot Lafay a cautious look, not wanting to lose points again.

Selina froze when Lafay said her name. But she was safe in her seat now and she did not have to worry about that right now. She was going to do what she always did in this class- survive or at least try to. Part of her knew that perhaps she should invest in a tutor or some outside preparation for potions... but every time she touched a cauldron someone got hurt... or turned red in Kurumi's case. The school nurse did not particularly understand how Selina had even managed to do that, she was just that good at potions. Yeah, that was it.

Class began and Selina rose her hand timidly, "A wand, ma'am? So you can fend off the fire?"

Harlow squeaked and hurried off to her table as Professor Lafay spoke to her.

She quickly found a seat and set up her potions station, before the first question was asked. She raised her hand, "Since Legalos would have enough sense to leave if the place was on fire and I would have my wand with me already I would grab my writing satchel." She would die if anything happened to it.

Maddy had no idea, cause there would be no fire in the first place she thought. "My suitcase I guess, cause it has all my stuff in it. I never unpack " was Maddy's final answer.
