The ancient schooner stands tall in the dark water, although there is a definite list to the mast and sails that belie its age. After all these years hidden in or around the lake, the ship is in remarkably good condition, although the lower decks drip with water and something rather green and slimy. If not for the age and apparent solitude of the ship, it would appear the crew had just departed, even going so far to leave the gangplank lowered to provide access to the main deck.
The main deck is cluttered in a way no captain would approve. Bits of knotted rope, lank strands of the shredded sail, and abandoned cannon balls that seem to have taken root to the deck would have tripped up a sailor in bygone days. They are the only artifacts left of those hearty men now. A rope ladder twists uselessly in the rigging - wonder if the crow's nest can still be reached?
Just a few steps above the main deck, the steering wheel is knotted into place with a moldy length of rope. It's impossible to know where these sailors were headed, but they've been sailing in one direction for a very long time indeed. Propped against the railing behind the wheel is a marlinespike, a nasty pointed thing that was someone's weapon or tool... or both.
Beneath the quarterdeck, a gaping doorway leads to the captain's quarters. Decrepit maps, a rusted quadrant, and a compass sit on the captain's desk, but the most interesting artifact is probably the old tricorne hat propped against the chair. Wherever the man went, his head is bare. The bed and wardrobe in the corner could give you more clues about the man who lived here, but the best clue is the log book folded closed on the chair - Captain's Log for the Dead Wizard's Trove.
Below the main deck, you will find the hold and sailor's quarters. Kegs of powder are scattered with a few ancient gold coins, Galleons by the look of them, but there is no further indication as to what the ship once carried. Was the ship a merchant ship? Privateers? Or pirates?
Hearing the creaking of the gang-plank, Simon turned from his own exploration to spot three other students climbing aboard ship, the likes of which all seemed to be either first years or just younger students. A Ravenclaw and two Gryffindors....figures the brave and the curious.
So much for a private adventure
He mused to himself with a shake of the head before seeing the sparks errupting from one of the Gryffindor's wands and he decided to walk back closer to them. "Please be careful you guys," he said feeling like as the senior member of the house he should help Vindictus keep an eye on them if in fact the professor was going to allow them to say. The captain glancing back at the Quidditch official where the man explored near the door to the lower deck.
Peyton had it. She just couldn't stay behind and not know what was inside the cool ship. She quickly ran, but stopped once she heard creeks.
Eeep!
She was going to fall and it was probably going to hurt a LOT. This time, she walked on the tips of her toes and heard someone and as careful as she could she ran towards the voice. She didn't want to be alone. What if a scary monster decided that she was a tasty red treat and chased her.
No way.
Peyton approached the guy. "Is it okay if I walk along with you?" she asked. What if she followed him and he thought she was some sort of stalker? Plus, he looked smart and smart meant that he knew spells.
Simon smiled as he followed everyone, he had seen Professor Vindictus go over to the ship and so had followed him, he didn't want to miss out on this, he was hoping there would be some sort of treasure map, maybe there was some treasure burried somewhere in Hogwarts.
Simon looked around and then saw his namesake Simon who he had partnered with in a lesson last term, but since then he had never seen him since and then there was Amy, who he hadn't seen since his first year, well except for earlier in the corridor though he had no idea why he hadn't seen her for ages maybe he could find out one day.

Simon had only walked a few steps in continuing his looking when he stopped as someone spoke, turning to the girl and noting how she appeared to be talking to him. "Um...sure," he answered with a shrug. "Just watch where you step and be careful," he added politely before continuning on.
Ronnie wanted to get on this ship from the moment she saw it. It was adventure to be had and she loved adventures. She climbed up to the top deck follwing the other students who were coming along as well. It was creeper than she thought and it almost made a shiver run up her spin. But she would had for someone to noticed that.
She looked around and wanted to run and explore every last nook and crany on this ship. Maybe they would find a skeleton? Or some lost buried treasure.!!!! Ronnie was so giddy with exciment that she did start running and.....tripped right over a stupid cannon ball that seemed to have almost welded it self to the floor.
Ronnie fell. "OWWWWW." She yelled looking down at her hand. it was already black and blue and swollen........ But that was most certianly NOT going to stop her from exploring. She stood up bushed the dirt and grim off with her good hand and looked around to see if any one noticed.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Plushed duck in one hand and his phoenix feather wand in the other, Daichi sneaked behind the other students when they made their way in to the old ship. The first year Snake had heard about this old mysterious ship from his father and he had read it in the daily prophet. He was curious to find out why it would be here. Even people who didn't care could not deny they were curious!
Daichi walked up on the ship, following the other students but kept his eyes on a professor he did not know, yet. He wasn't here to make friends , he just wanted to do some exploring and the safest way to do that was sticking close to the older students and professor like a stickening charm.
The floor creaked under his feet because of his weight and that is saying something. Daichi wasn't heavy , showed how old this ship was... Some of the creaks made him jump in fear. Thinking they were going to be attacked by someone or something any minute. "W-wait for me! Daichi whispered as loud as he could. This was actually pretty scary! But he was NOT scared! He only hels his plushed duck tight against his chest because he was ...yeah ok, he was a little scared, this place looks so freaky~!

Hannah Was on the ship and walk quietly.She was waiting for the professor to give orders.she explore the ship very quitely and bump into shomeone.
Audrey was scared of this ship. She felt like she would fall in at any second. She saw a girl that looked as scared as she was. Making her way over, and being careful not to fall through, she said,"Hey, I'm Audrey. Wanna explore this thing together?"

Scoping the deck he saw a door. Mordred smiled at the sight. "Cool." he muttered. He pulled out his wand from under his sleeve and made his way down to the door.
Oakey finally caught up to Mordred who had booked it from the suit of armor. HEY! HEY! MORDRED! WAIT UP! He was so busy running to catch up to Mordred he hadn't noticed the cannonballs lying on the floor in front of him. Oakey stepped on one and began doing a circus act all the way to where Mordred was standing and did a face-plant into the ships floor. Ouch! Oakey stood up and rubbed his nose. I'm good, don't worry. Oakey walked next to Mordred and peered into the doorway to see what he was looking at.

Her eyes grew wide with amazement as they walked, Peyton has never been on a ship before and this was just COOL. She paused when she heard another voice. What now? She listened closely...what?

What did that guy mean by regretting what they touched? Peyton hugged her tiny frame and stared at the older boys with wide, worried eyes. "W-What do you mean by that?" she asked, her voice a bit shaky. "Are there hand-eating monsters?" she said, walking closer to the older boys. Those monster didn't exist...

Oakey noticed an older boy shook his head in disappointment at what just happened to him. It wasn't his fault these things just sort of happen to Oakey. He figured his burst of good luck had drained itself out at the suits of armor and now Oakey was back to his normal bad luck-self.

Aaaannnd just when they said to be careful and watch their step he saw a young Puff getting familiar with the ship's deck. Salander pressed his lips together into a line trying to look displeased but really he was trying his best to keep from guffawing and having a real good laugh at the boy's expense.
So instead he turned his back to them and started on his way again, snickering as he did.
Then another young stuttering voice caught his attention. He looked at her curiously, wondering what could she possibly be frightened about and then realized "Oh..... " he started. Yeah what did he mean by that? ".... just wanna make sure you kids dont end up getting a splinter or a cut or s'mthn." he shrugged. Should he also warn them about ancient ships carrying cursed treasures?...
Nahhhh. He doesnt know what kind of ship this is anyway. Hence the exploring.
And besides what fun is there of knowing whats luriking around the corner? heh.

What he had in front of him was a dark entry that strongly reeked of rotten wood and mildew. Slowly, he pulled out his wand. Lumos! Suddenly, the interior lit up and he walked down what was a short corridor to a private bedchamber that was still untouched by teenage hands.
Another light suddenly joined his, and Vindictus turned around. "Be careful! There are OLD things. FRAGILE OLD THINGS. THINGS THAT BELONG IN MUSEUMS!" He narrowed his blue eyes on the two. "And how do you two first years even know the light spell considering it hasn't been taught yet?"

He then questioned them on their ability to use "Lumos". Oh that, Oakey put his wand away I-uh,Harvey showed it to me once. Oakey hesitated he was scared right now. He was first year and had already been doing something he hadn't. Oakey had no idea they weren't supposed to be in here. He even said Harvey's name instead of calling his foster father his foster father, to the the Professor. I mean my foster father showed me it once, sir. This was true. Oakey knew he wasn't allowed to do under age magic, but he had a really good memory.

"Ah, okay," that was a relief. Still, he hadn't confirmed whether there was a hand-eating monster on board. She'll just keep close to him too, just in case. It was also nice of the old dude to look out for them.

Another light suddenly joined his, and Vindictus turned around. "Be careful! There are OLD things. FRAGILE OLD THINGS. THINGS THAT BELONG IN MUSEUMS!" He narrowed his blue eyes on the two. "And how do you two first years even know the light spell considering it hasn't been taught yet?"
There was that man that hadn't answered her out by the lake. Peyton kept her distant from him and peered into the room. It was dark.
Then there was LIGHT!
"Awesome," she whispered. Peyton had no idea how to do that with her wand and she hadn't heard the man saying any incantation. The girl took her wand from its holster. "Light," she said.
Nothing.
She frowned at it and shook it. Light, she wanted LIGHT! She looked up at them man's wand and then back at her wand. Why wouldn't it do the same? Pfft.
What if her wand was broken? The girl gave up and held her wand against her chest. Poor broken wand. Looking up at the man with sad eyes, Peyton cocked her head to the side. "Then why aren't they in a museum?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. If they belonged in one, why weren't they there, huh?

What he had in front of him was a dark entry that strongly reeked of rotten wood and mildew. Slowly, he pulled out his wand. Lumos! Suddenly, the interior lit up and he walked down what was a short corridor to a private bedchamber that was still untouched by teenage hands.

Picking his way around the debris, Salander neared the Deputy Headmaster when he felt a bump on his side by two really really eager younguns as they went past him-- one of which he remembered just landed on his face after slipping on a canonball.
He looked to Vindictus and nodded his head silently-- right, really, really old stuff, could disintegrate at the slightest touch. Got it. He then took his wand from his pocket and uttered Lumos as well, moving his arm slowly as his sight adjusted to the dimness of the interior chamber.
As he stepped around slowly he could hear the young Slytherin girl speaking to someone he could only guess was Vindictus. But something else has gotten this Slytherin lad's attention. An ancient looking journal lay quietly on a seat and squinted his eyes as he tried to read its scribbled front "Captain's Log... " he glanced up at Vindictus, wodnering if the Deputy Headmaster may want to take a look at this. Salander glanced back down and tried to read the rest of the scribbles "Captain's Log.... Dead Wizard's Trove." He glanced up puzzled. "Dead Wizard's Trove? What is that... some kind of mission the crew had? Or is it the name of a ship?" Perhaps this ship?

"Just be careful where you point that thing," Vindictus warned the two first years and saw that they were looking at what appeared to be the ship's log. Even Salander was now looking at it.
"Dead Wizard's Trove," he repeated and walked over to a table where a cool-looking worn leather tricorn hat lay. He picked it up and began to examine it. "Never heard of it."
And he put the hat on his head.

Apparently what Salander had said had frightened his own shadow, so Simon turned about to say something to make it better when the Slytherin explained it in a more firstie-appropriate way. A way which seemed to calm the girl thankfully. Continueing on his exploring, sure that the younger Slytherin was probably still close to either older boy, Simon sidestepped some of the more annoying debree, thinking that it certainly was a mess.
His train of thought was cut off when he heard Vindictus make his displeasure known, the captain almost chuckling at the fate of whoever it was that had gotten the reaction out of him. Nothing like the familiar yell of the deputy headmaster to jopefully set the younger students straight. Staying back a bit to avoid crowding, Simon watched as the young Slytherin tried to light her wand like the professor had.
"Not quite the spell," he said quietly to her trying to reassure her it wasn't her wand. "But you'll be taught it eventually."
