Melina overheard the conversation and tried to fit herself in. She realllllly wanted to make friends in her house- after all, they were going to become her family for a looooong time.
"Um, excuse me- hi, I'm Melina and I'm a 1st year. I just heard you say that you didn't expect to be in Ravenclaw, but you hoped you would be. May I ask where did you think you were going to be placed?"
"Is it, um, alright if I join your conversation? I mean, if not it's alright , I can catch up with you guys later." She didn't want to just barge in.
"Yeah, it's fine. I'm muggleborn so I didn't really know about the houses until a few days ago, and I didn't think about it much even then." Emmy replied with a grin. "I'm Emmy, it's nice to meet you!"
Adelyn rushed over to the Ravenclaw table as soon as the sorting had ended, searching for her little sister. She spotted her auburn hair from the back, and threw her arms around Melina from the back.
"Oh, Melina! I'm so glad to see you! Congradulations on Ravenclaw!" Adelyn grinned proudly at her little sister.
Melina was thrust forward by an unknown force hitting her in the back. She nearly ended up with a face full of cauldron cake, but it only took a second for her to recognize those arms around her.
"Adelyn!! Oh, Adelyn!!!!! I'm sooooo glad to see you!!!" She was actually tearing up; it was just that all her dreams were coming true in front of her eyes, and now the one person she wanted most to share it with was here with her. She jumped out of her seat and threw her arms around her big sister. "Adelyn, I'm in Ravenclaw, can you believe it?! I just knew I'd be!!"
She could barely contain herself- she felt like her energy, her joy was going to just explode out of her. "Now you promised that we'd still see each other a lot, even though we're in different houses and years, right? Everything is so wonderful tonight- there's more food here than in all of England, I think!"
"Tell me- what happens next? What do we do tomorrow? When can I see you?" She realized that she was firing questions at machine-gun pace, but her excitement had simply overloaded her nervous system.
Ariana nodded happily. "That would be a Ravenclaw attribute! For me, the Hat couldn't decide between Ravenclaw and Slytherin. It let me choose myself! I picked Ravenclaw just because I'm muggleborn."
"Cool! I'll let you talk with your sister now. I'll catch up with you in the common room later," he told her with a smile.
He was looking forward to get to know her more but right now, he wanted to talk with Emerald who was sitting right across from him.

"I think you and I will get along famously then," said Gavin with a smile. "I love books too... But so does all the Ravenclaws, if I heard my mum right," he added with a chuckle.
Definitely, it was nice to be with people like him.
"You know, even if kids weren't really kind to me, I think I would not have liked to have a governess... then again, I'm by myself so it would have been rather lonely. Why do you think your younger brother may be a wizard?"
After decided that the food wasn't going to appear just yet, He brought his head up, and looked around. Many people had joined, and all the new little eagles were now all sorted.
Wait... Did he hear his own name?
Jacob looked around, and saw no one was directly speaking to him. Well, better not to dwell on it. Most of the time, when he heard his name without being directly spoken to, it meant people weren't happy with him. So Ignoring the situation was always the best option.
He watched more new first years join the table, Jacob nodded his hello to all of them. And gave an occasional "Welcome to Ravenclaw" But other than that he simply listened and observed, hoping there would be no trouble around him... If it was around Ivory or Finn, then it was fine. They could deal with it... if it happened near Jacob, he'd faster wrestle them to the ground than take them to a teacher or just break the trouble up.
Nika skipped around in search of Ariana. She wanted to say hello before the feast officially started. Besides she wanted an excuse to go visit the Ravie table anyways.
Ariana saw Nika skipping happily up to the Ravvie table, and waved her hand in the air to attract her attention. "Nika! Hi! How're you doing? Don't you think the food's being reeealllly slow in getting here? Speak already, Heamaster, speak! I'm hungry!"
Kinda replyin' to both of you at the same time... (:

Yes, that was the plan.
"To be completely honest, neither did I at first." she answered truthfully. "There's not too many though, for the most part Ravenclaws are a good bunch." She said that last part with a bit of pride. Yeah, she was proud of her house. "Oh don't sell yourself short." He seemed like an intelligent guy. "I'm sure you would help if someone really needed it."
He didn't seem like the sort of guy to turn someone in need away. But then again that was just her first impression.
"You know," she began with a grin. "Some people think of it as sucking up to meet the Professors on the first day." Not that she was calling him a suck up of course. "But I like to think of it as laying of the ground work. Like you said get off on a good start. Shows them you have initiative and whatnot." Most people admired that.
Her lips quirked up at his enthusiasm for his duties. Giving a small giggle, she nodded. Yes, those sounded like excellent duties. "Well then I guess that makes us official new friends."

"Oh." SIGH. "Sorry. It's weird right?" she asked. Her not being all excited and stuff. Excited was so HER. Especially in the beginning of term. Her being merose even weirded HER out.
At the question, her eyes flickered up to the Staff table. SOMEONE was missing. Someone that she was pretty sure, if present, she'd be less like...less like whatever she was being right now. Less like a Debbie Downer. Ironic, right? "I just kinda...don't want to be here...now." Maybe in a few more weeks. But now? Now she just missed HOME.
Still, Ellie managed to smile at the fifth year. "That's good! Have a good holiday?"
"Nice to meet you too." More beaming. She could do that, apparently, be sad and happy at the same time. Or her mood just changed constantly.
Heh. "Depends on the professor, I guess." Ellie said, inviting herself in their already established conversation cuz she COULD. "Like...if you already knew them, then you're just visiting them and it's like...like you actually like them and genuinely want to interact with them. If they're new, it's kinda like more sucking upish." Words of wisdom from Ellie Stone. Like Little Professor or Hadley, she could confidently approach just to see how their summer was...or something. But that new woman? If she was like 'I'm really looking forward to your class', it'd be MAJOR sucking up sounding. Right?
Dallin shrugged one shoulder, laughing lightly. He supposed everyone thought they wouldn't be a good prefect - or whatever - until it actually happened to them. He smiled at her obvious house pride and nodded in agreement. "Yeah, this is a pretty good house, I think." Not to mention they were the stereotypical smart people, which was never a bad thing. "Sure," he said slowly, "I would try to help people. Maybe I'll be able to once I get used to this place more." Even though he had last year to get used to the place...
He grinned when both girls mentioned sucking up to professors. "Is there something wrong with that?" He was joking, of course... well, sort of. "But, like you said Ivory, shows initiative." Yup. Good students like to meet their professors, right?
He smiled brightly when Ivory said they were 'official' friends. That was good to know. "I don't know what other duties my Guy-ish Fifth year-ness entitles," he said thoughtfully, "So I guess I'll just wait to see what else I'm called upon for." He was totally enjoying this, incase you couldn't tell.
He couldn't help but laugh at Ellie. "Yeah, not having friends is definitely a downer." And believe it or not he had not had friends at one point in his life. He did not want to go back to that.
His smile faded at Ellie's reply and his blue eyes got big and round. "I-" He didn't exactly know what to say to make her feel better, or even if he could say anything to make her feel better. "You don't have to be here..." he murmured, looking up and down the table to see if there was anywhere else she could sit.
Or... maybe she meant here as in Hogwarts... oh well.
Ariana saw Nika skipping happily up to the Ravvie table, and waved her hand in the air to attract her attention. "Nika! Hi! How're you doing? Don't you think the food's being reeealllly slow in getting here? Speak already, Heamaster, speak! I'm hungry!"
Rowan had been sitting quietly by herself at the table when she heard a familiar voice. She looked up to see her new friend from the train. She smiled and gave her a little wave, not wanting to interrupt Ariana's conversation.

"Ariana! Just the person I wanted to meet!" She looked around at the rest of the table. "I don't know why it took my so long to find you... I probably wasn't searching good enough." Heehee. "Oh my goodness you are right! I wanna have some food! You know one thing I missed most about Hogwarts was the food." Nika rubbed her small belly. Sure she maybe small and short, but she lurves her some food!

Hateya sat down at the Ravenclaw table, looking around for people she knew. When she didn't spot them, she gave a mini-pout and reached to pour herself some pumpkin juice. Well, great. She was in the house that apparently loved to bury its collective nose in books and stay there until summer holidays came around. Sigh.
It wasn't that she minded books, not really, but... she just hoped that wasn't all that the other people in this house did. There was a world outside printed text, after all.
Yukiko walked over to the Ravenclaw table and took a seat. She didn't know anyone so she simply put some food on her plate and began to eat. She was looking forward to classes getting underway so she could learn new and interesting things.

Empty spot, empty spot. It seemed as though when Niko had gotten up to use the restroom, his spot had been filled by a group of cackling 4th year girls. Joy, now it was off to find a new spot.
Well, there was an empty spot next to that girl over their. "Ex... Excuse me." Niko nervously bit his lip. "Do you mind if I sit next to you?"

Hateya looked up at the newcomer with a relieved grin on her face, "Nope, not at all! Here."
She immediately poured him a cup of pumpkin juice. Hopefully he wasn't allergic to pumpkins; that would be just her luck to offer food to two different people in the same day and have them both be allergic, "I'm Hateya. You?"

Theodore walked into the great hall behind a crowd of other students clad in uniform black robes, which grazed the floor as they each padded along the stone floor toward their specific table. In the pocket of his freshly-ironed trousers lay his wand and in his right hand, he clutched a copy of Hogwarts, A History tightly. He was new to this school, a transfer from New York, and had recently been sorted in an impromptu ceremony before the term had officially begun. Seeing students who bore the same blue badge on their breasts, that of an eagle within a bronze and blue crest, he followed them to a table in between two others; others wearing the same symbol for their house sat at the table. Taking an unassuming seat at the end, he plopped the book down next to an empty, golden plate and looked around eagerly.
Looking up, he had to keep his jaw from dropping at the sight. What magic was it that could have made the sky appear on the ceiling? Figuring that the best way to uncover the mysteries of this new school would be to tear through the textbook, Theodore carefully opened the cover and began to pore over the table of contents.

Hateya, that was defiantly a unique sort of name. This girl was also rather sociable. Well better to sit next to someone else also sociable, rather than shy like himself. They would both just be sitting there not talking.
Niko looked at the glass of orange-colored juice that Hateya just poured for him. "Nikolas." He looked up for a second to answer her question, and then down back at the drink for a quick sip. Not bad. "Folks back come just call me Niko though."

"Oh, okay Niko. I don't really have a nickname." Hateya gave him an encouraging smile when he drank the juice. Yes, good, please don't be allergic and swell up like a balloon. That wouldn't be a good way to start the term.
"Have you gone here before?" She liked to mix up the 'are you a first year' question. There were only so many times a person could hear that in a day before freaking out. "There were so many first years who got sorted, I couldn't keep track. I'm a first year."

There just seemed to have so many people, and really he was more preoccupied with his own sorting even though he knew nothing about any of the houses.
"So this ravenclaw house. Like is all we do is... read... or something?"

Jeanne looked to her left and saw aguy with a book about the history of hogwarts. She didn't had the copy of that one since she left hers at home. Boy, that was a big mistake. Jeanne tried observing him for awhile. Staring at his every move. "Is he perhaps a transferee like i am?" Jeanne thought to herself. Well he was looking at so many things and was especially amazed by the ceiling.
Not to make things more awkward Jeanne scooted a bit and gestured a hand to him "Hello. I'm Jeanne." she smiled but is still looking at the book .

So many first years today. Jeanne forgot what it's like to be at Hogwarts for the first time. Then she saw an adorable first year across. She was eating alone, quietly. Jeanne can tell she was shy... most of them were. Jeanne decided to acquaint herself with the first years "hello." she smiled at her. "I'm Jeanne, a fourth year. Congratulations in making it to Ravenclaw." she added.
Niko let out a nervous laugh and shook his head. "First year too." He said looking up and down the ravenclaw table. He couldn't really keep track of who all got sorted too. There just seemed to have so many people, and really he was more preoccupied with his own sorting even though he knew nothing about any of the houses.
"So this ravenclaw house. Like is all we do is... read... or something?"
"I hope not." The words were out before she could really think about... well, not blurting them out. She really had to work on the buffer between her brain and her tongue; her parents said she didn't even have one, "Sorry. Reading's great, don't get me wrong, but sometimes you just have to roll up your sleeves and make mistakes, right?"
Like in Potions. She was going to make a lot of mistakes in that, and love every minute of it. Except if she got wounded or turned into a wombat or something, of course.
In all fairness, it was the sight of Mr. Stryker that brought him to this table. Don't ask. He just did.
Perhaps he was walking over to the Staff table, because, well, BOTH the pretty Healer and the awesome Groundskeeper were sitting together, so, they were practically calling for him to make a sudden appearance over there, but then something red caught his attention and he ventured elsewhere?
It seems very likely. That was probably what happened. And so he kept on walking, right?

Actually, the boy was RIGHT, Ellie didn't have to be here, she was always welcomed at the Hufflepuff table, though, he wasn't sure if he wanted to have her in there, seeing how he was surrounded by first years all the time he's spent at his table.
Treyen regretted his decision of walking this way as soon as he arrived. But that didn't stop him from sitting between Ellie and this boy, whatever his name was. "Hey there, I'm Treyen Lockhart." He smiled, offering the boy his hand for a handshake. He wanted to add the 'Hufflepuff Prefect' part, but it was rather obvious, since the badge was right there. "You are?" he demanded, because the Hufflepuff wanted to know the name of the one occupying Ellie's attention at the moment. And...Ivy's too. But he didn't mind the Prefect.
In his attempt to get the Ravenclaw's name, he forgot to greet the most important one.

Theodore had become quite engrossed in the contents of the book. The classes offered at the school seemed to be quite interesting, and the stories of how four founders had banded together to create such a fine place of education amazed the new Ravenclaw. He had been in the midst of turning one of the thin pages of the book when a voice, one that seemingly came out of nowhere, caused him to spaz and accidentally rip off a corner of the page. Turning, he noticed that it was an innocent girl, not a scary monster coming after him.
Theodore really needed to loosen up.
Quickly taking his wand out, he muttered a quick 'reparo' and once the page was as good as new, he turned to the bold girl with a small smile. He seemed to be attracting new acquaintances like flies to honey, which he was growing more comfortable with by the hour. "Oh, hello," He nodded. What to say next? Well, the only polite thing to do would be to say his own name in return for hers. Duh, Theo. "I'm Theodore. Nice to meet you... Joanne."

Well, it didn't seem as though that this girl knew very much more than Niko about this house. Well Niko knew nothing about any houses. He loooked around, well it didn't seem as though anyone at the table was currently reading. "Yeah I'm not a big reader." He smiled when Hateya sort of blurted out her answer.
BEAM. Ellie BEAMED at the nudge. Physical contact. It was a good thing. "Beats not having any friends, right?" Cuz last term he was NEW. Heh. That was fun. Good times.
"Oh." SIGH. "Sorry. It's weird right?" she asked. Her not being all excited and stuff. Excited was so HER. Especially in the beginning of term. Her being merose even weirded HER out.

But that new woman? If she was like 'I'm really looking forward to your class', it'd be MAJOR sucking up sounding. Right?
With a small laugh, Ivory nodded. "Yeah that sounds about right."
Heaving a big exaggerated sigh, she pointed to the at times obnoxiously shiny badge on her chest. "But this thing pretty much requires me to go and say "welcome" from Ravenclaw and "we'll all try our best to meet your expectations, hope you enjoy your term", yada yada yada." On that last part her hand came up to make the chicken clucking hand...at least that's what she knew it by.
Realizing it might be something only her little brothers would recognize, she brought her hand down with a slight blush. "But yeah....sometimes being a prefect is synonymous. I don't mind though. It means when firsties ask about how to approach certain professors and what I can answer from experience." That was a plus she supposed.

Wait and see what else he's called for. Heh.
A little chuckle escaped her lips, and she glanced down. Why she did that, though she didn't really know. She'd been doing a lot of that lately. Reacting without thought. But why?
Pushing the questions to the back of her mind, Ivory lifted her gaze to his once more.
"Once you get more used to the place?" She repeated belatedly, a bit confused. "Reading between the lines here a bit," Cue the lift of hand and the waving of the fingers that represent metaphorical lines of course. "I assume you only recently started at Hogwarts?" That might explain why she didn't have more memories of seeing him around. Then again...she wasn't the most observant person at times considering those years had gone by with her nose always in some book or other. Nevertheless it was a good question. Seemed like one of those mandatory getting to know you ones.
It was at this point that she couldn't help listening in a bit to their conversation. Didn't want to be here? she wondered as she looked at the girl in concern. Was everything okay? She didn't want to pry, but she wanted Ellie to know that if she ever needed anything she had a good listening ear right here. Hopefully, all that got across in one concern filled look.
SPOILER!!: Green eyed monster Treyen ;)

He smiled, offering the boy his hand for a handshake.
Suddenly though, her attention was caught elsewhere as someone squeezed themselves between Ellie and Dallin, squishing them all together like a pack of sardines in the process.
Angling her head a little forward, she spotted the familiar face of a certain Hufflepuff prefect. "Hey Treyen." At least that's what she started to say when she sort of choked on the last syllable with a tiny, little almost unnoticeable bell of laughter. His demanding tone spoke volumes...at least to her at the moment. If she didn't know better she'd swear on Merlin's belly button lint that he was jealous of Dallin talking to Ellie....actually to be completely honest, she didn't know better. Sooo she was free to believe that.
Alright so maybe Ivory's grin turned into a little smirk at the testosterone fueled exchange. But it was a little one, promise.

Reason: Adding Treyen quotes :)

"Whoa, hey there."
Dallin blinked a few times as a boy he'd never met was suddenly sitting right next to him. He scooted away as much as he could without sitting on Ivory. After a second of trying to figure out what was going on, he just started laughing. Seriously this kid was joking, right?
"I'm Dallin McKinley," He said cheerfully, returning Treyen's smile and shaking his hand. He glanced down at the badge on the Huffie's chest. He couldn't help but wonder why he'd come all the way from the Hufflepuff table just to squeeze his way in between him and Ellie.
"It's, uh, nice to meet you?" Because really, what else was he supposed to say?

He half-smiled at her curiously when she laughed then looked away, wondering why she did that. Although he knew he wouldn't find out. Girls were weird, and they did weird things. End of story.
He nodded once to her question, his smile getting bigger at her 'lines.' "This is my second year here," He told her. "And I would've thought that I knew most of the important things about this place, but I don't. I've never even been to the Hospital Wing." Among other things.
"Have you always gone here?" He asked curiously. For her, what - four years? Five years? What year did you have to be in to be a prefect?
Well, it didn't seem as though that this girl knew very much more than Niko about this house. Well Niko knew nothing about any houses. He loooked around, well it didn't seem as though anyone at the table was currently reading. "Yeah I'm not a big reader." He smiled when Hateya sort of blurted out her answer.
"I don't think you have to be," Hateya decided on the spot, informing him of her decision at the same time. After all, hadn't the Ravenclaw motto been something about wit and learning? That didn't necessarily mean reading, right? Right.
"Have you heard anything about the classes?" She spared a peek towards the staff table, wondering who taught what.
Or... maybe she meant here as in Hogwarts... oh well.
Giggle. "No worries, though." Cuz he had a friend in her. And Ivory. BAM. And probably others that she didn't know, but they were of NO importance at this current time.
Meh. Ellie shooooook her head, "But I DO. To learn and stuff and stuff."
She glanced up at the Staff dias AGAIN. Little Professor should get here STAT. Now.
SPOILER!!: Puff

Ellie BEAM!GRINNED when she noticed the Hufflepuff coming towards their table. It had been FOREVER and a DAY since she saw him. AND even moreso, he sat RIGHTTHERE.
Right there...
...and didn't talk to her. "Watch the cameraaaa." Sure it was between her legs, but Treyen could have easily stepped on it, right? ...Maybe she should put it in her lap now?
And hi to you too, Lockhart. HMPH.
SPOILER!!: Ivory

On that last part her hand came up to make the chicken clucking hand...at least that's what she knew it by.
Heh.

"True." So much truth was in that uberrrr long statement. So much.
"Bet that's a lot of fun. Answering First Years' questions." That was...sarcastic. Ish.
Though, if she remembered correctly, she went to Cela for a lot. Or at least considered asking Cela a lot. In her first term.
