'Fine, m'am!' ROse said. 'I'm sorry, William, for hexing you, I know it was wrong and won't do it again' Rose told him. 'But, I am afraid I can't bury the hatchett, but I won't hex you or give you trouble' Rose said.

" Your apology is accepted" William told Rose.

'So is yours...' Rose told him cautiously. The sooner she got out of here, the sooner she could go and see Tyler!

Sierra edged inside, her dark brown eyes automatically scanning the area and observing her surroundings. There were Gryffindors in here, apologizing to one another at that. Just her unlucky day. Other than the brief observation, she ignored the Gryffindors and turned to Professor Cerulean. "So, ...Professor Cerulean," she said, noticing her voice sounded far more pleasant than it usually did. Then again, she was talking to a professor, not some Puffer.

Should she take a seat? She hadn't been offered one, so she'd stand for now. "I was just stopping by, because...well..." She trailed off, unsure of where to start. "How are you doing today?" she asked, changing her sentence altogether. It would give her some time to think about what else she might want to say.

Gemma glanced from the girl to the boy with a satisfied grin, "Well, if there is nothing else, then we will call this even...now you two get along and stay out of trouble..." she said with a friendly wink. "Is there anything else I can help you two with?" she asked politely just checking.

The professor focused in on the young Slythie. "Sierra, please come in and have a seat. I'm sure our two Gryffie friends will be leaving shortly...." she said politely but hintingly as she motioned towards a seat on the couch.

She cocked an eyebrow at the odd way the conversation was starting...there was obviously something else on the young girl's mind. "Well, I'm doing great Sierra. And you?" she said flicking her wand and sending a glass towards the table in front of the empty seat and offering the young girl a drink and a pastry.

" Nothing else at al" Willaim told the professor. " I can't wait for your lessons next term" Willaim said to the professor. William left her office.

'Alrighty, m'am, I can take a hint!' Rose grinned as she left the office. She turned around and said 'thank you!' before leaving

Well, there was the invitation to have a seat. She slid into the nearest seat, eying both the Gryffindors as she did so. Then it was just the two of them. It made the office visit a little more comfortable for Sierra, as she wasn't the type of child who was used to such visits. She fidgeted in her seat a little before speaking.

"So, I...realized the other day that I never really stopped by to welcome you to the castle," she started off, "so first off, even though it's the end of the school year, welcome to Hogwarts." There. That wasn't so bad. See, she could be nice. When she wanted to be, that is. "I also just wanted to say that if I can do anything to help you close out the year, put way supplies or something, just let me know." Again, not so bad.

"Last, I wanted to know if it was alright with you if I performed my magic trick for homework here," she finished, pulling a clear, glass goblet and a pack of cards out of the pocket of her robes.

The professor shook her head back and forth as the two walked out of her office. That was an easy solution...thank goodness...but somewhere in the back of her head she knew this probably wouldn't be the last she saw of them and the jinxing of each other.

She focused back in on the Slythie girl...

Gemma glanced up from a drink and smiled at the girl, "Well, thanks Sierra...better late than never...." she said with a little friendly wink....and then she tried not to choke on her drink as the young girl offered to help her...the professor had always thought the young slythie wasn't too keen on her and now she was offering to help her...something must be wrong with this picture....but she would welcome the help. "Well, thanks Sierra! I don't think I have too much stuff left to do but if I can find anything, I could def use the help."

She perked up as the girl mentioned the Homework assignment, "O yes, Sierra I would love to see your magic trick. The muggle card tricks always fascinate and entertain me." she paused, "And I've never had a student come and do a homework assignment in person...you get extra points just for that!" she said encouragingly.

OOC: This is what she'll be doing.

A smile slowly appeared on Sierra's face as she saw the professor wink at her. It was nice to have the feeling of getting someone on your side. Well, more so than they'd already been. She didn't have anything against Professor Cerulean, and the woman had never really annoyed her. The lack of annoyance alone was more than she could say for half the people she came face to face with in this castle.

Hmm.

Oh, and extra points, as well? Excellent. Another smile. A pleased one this time. "Alright," she said, placing the glass goblet on the desk in front of the professor. "Thanks." For the opportunity and for the extra points. "So what I'm going to do here is balance this glass goblet," she started, and then she picked up the goblet and tapped it lightly against the desktop, letting the professor hear how sturdy it was, "...on a playing card." She steadied the glass again then held up the deck of cards. "Ready?"

Gemma was instantly interested and intrigued when the girl mentioned balancing the cup on the card..."O yes, I've heard of this one but never seen it in person. " she said placing her cup down and giving the girl her entire attention.

Sierra was looking down toward the glass goblet when she heard the sound of Professor Cerulean's cup coming down on the desk with a soft thud. She looked up at the woman under her lashes and gave her a little smile. "Excellent," she said. "So what I'm doing now," she said, breaking apart the cards and stacking and restacking them, "is just to show you that I'm dealing with a regular deck of cards. Nothing unusual."

Of course, there was something unusual, and she debated on whether or not Cerulean knew that, but in the end, she decided since the woman had never seen the trick done in person, the end would maybe be a surprise. She paused and looked up at the professor.

The professor smiled at watched carefully as the girl started the trick. She tried to watch very carefully trying to figure out where the little trick took shape or where the slight of hand was. She shook her head up and down slightly with wide eyes.

After the little nod of approval, Sierra continued with the next step of the trick. She stacked and restacked just one more time, and then she plucked a single card from the stack. She put the remainder of the cards off to the side--she didn't need those. "So here's the card I chose," she said, holding it up and turning it around and around. There was clearly only one card in her hand.

"Okay, so this single card is hold the glass goblet up," she reminded the professor. She stood the card up horizontally and then moved the glass goblet on top of it. She didn't take her hands off the card or the goblet just yet, though.

She watched and tried to examine the single card as much as she could from a far. She shook her head slightly left and right almost in disbelief as the girl started setting up the trick. There was no way this going to work...I mean Gemma couldn't even make a card house there was no way that a single card could balance the goblet.....

Sierra took a deep breath. This better work. If she failed at this, especially in front of the professor who gave the assignment, that would be a complete letdown. For her and likely for Cerulean, too. She released the breath slowly and then moved her left hand away from the card and her right hand away from the goblet.

A full ten seconds passed before she dared to look up. It had stayed! "So there you have it," she said, gesturing toward the goblet balanced perfectly on top of the single card.

OOC: She finished the trick, but I need one more post for the assignment. Can you maybe ask her to show how to she did it or something?

Gemma's jaw dropped down as the girl let go of the goblet and...and...it stayed. She began clapping excitedly like a little kid...I mean she couldn't help it...it was amazing!!!

"Wow, Sierra! That is absolutely brilliant!!!" she said excitedly through the claps....then she couldn't help but ask, "I know a magician never shares her secrets, but.....how did you do that?" she asked with a cocked eyebrow and a smile.

Sierra gave Cerulean a knowing smile. "Right, but I'm not a magician," she said, "I'm a witch." In other words, magicians didn't tell their secrets, but since she wasn't one, she didn't mind telling. She removed the goblet and held up the card that had once supported the goblet. "This isn't really just one card," she revealed. She picked at the back of it, and it could clearly be seen that a second card was glued to the back of the first, but only halfway. "The second card was bent, so it formed I guess...a table-like structure?"
