Gryffindor Common Room

The official home of the Lions, the Gryffindor common room, is found on the seventh floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Because the entrance to the common room is the portrait of the Fat Lady, Lions must know the password and speak it to the Fat Lady in order to get through.

"Oddsbodikins!"

Remember that word...and keep it a close secret, for it's the current password you'll need to speak in order for the Fat Lady to swing away from the hole and allow you entrance to Gryffindor Tower. Once you're lucky enough to crawl through, you'll find that the common room is a circular area full of squashy armchairs, tables, and a bulletin board. A window looks out onto the grounds of the school, and a large fireplace takes up one entire wall. It's the perfect place to relax and hang out after a long day of classes.

That is, unless you're in need of a nap or ready for a good night's rest. In that case, there are two doors leading off from the common room that open to spiral staircases. Boys dormitories are upstairs and to the right, while girls dormitories are upstairs and to the left.

For whatever reason you're here, make sure you take good care of your home away from home. There's bound to be a perfect, your Head of House, or maybe even a house elf lurking nearby.

Just when Nika was starting to give up on this whole "list" thing Zara turned red. This had to mean something! Nika got it! She knew who it was. HAHA! Nothing gets past Nika. Invincible Nika, mystery solver Nika, crush-figure-outer Nika. She had said his name! But wait... she had said four names. So it wasn't Oakey, unless Zara was lying. It wasn't Jacob based on her half- reaction to his name. So it had to be either Willie or Patroclus. The question is... which one?

Nika looked at Zara and tried to search for answers, but she was only sitting there with her mouth open. HMPH. So Nika would have to figure it out all on her own, eh? Well it's enie-menie-minie-moe from here. She had come up with her final answer. It seemed more probable anyways. "YOU HAVE A CRUSH ON Willie?" Nika said lowering her voice to a soft whisper just incase anyone was listening in. Only Zara would be able to hear that. "I knew it all along of course. I was only playing at this whole list thing to make sure I was right." Heh heh, no. Not really. You could tell by her chuckle that she was only just saying that.

She bent down on the floor, her hands touching it and with her legs, pushed herself to tumble; she closed her eyes feeling herself roll and ended up next, as she opened it, sitting down. She looked back at William. "your turn." she said, smiling back at him. The rolls are just starting. maybe later they'd both get dizzy for rolling when they do more.

Nika was really starting to wonder what Emily was trying to mean by all of this. She was truly confused. Why would Emily not want to be friends all of the sudden because she wanted to work things out with her mom. She looked at Emily and searched for answers. But it didn't take long for the second year to give them to Nika.

Then Emily dropped the bomb. The she's-not-coming-back bomb. That bomb. Nika wasn't sure how to react. She wasn't sure if it was a joke or if the girl was being serious. She sounded pretty serious. So Nika just sat there. Curled up in a little ball on her chair. She just sat there looking at the ground trying to figure out exactly what was going on. She just sat. Nika knew Emily would want her to be happy and understand that it was the best. But she couldn't understand. She just wanted her best friend to be by her side forever. Of course things weren't going to work out the way that was ideal. Of course there had to be that bump in the road. "I-I understand." And that's all she said. She said she understood, when really she didn't. It was the first time she had lied to Emily. The first time ever.

She looked up at her friend for the last time during the conversation and held back the tears. The sad, angry, confused tears. "I- I have to go to the bathroom." She said slowly as she got up from her chair. Her legs felt unstable, but hopefully they wouldn't give in by the time she ran to the courtyard, or the lake, or the bathroom, or anywhere. Anywhere but here. She didn't want to show Emily how upset she was. She didn't want her friend to see how selfish she was being by not being happy over the fact that Emily was going to be with her birth mum.

Nika bolted towards the passage way so that she could get out of the common room before the tears rolled in. She didn't want her friend to see her like this. She couldn't let it happen. Not now anyways. She wasn't ready.

" You really did a great job of helpig me" Willaim told Nika. " Happiness is better than sadness" Eiliam said to Nika. "Do not worry about the boys she likes, she will tell yo ueventually" William explained to Nika. William ran after Nika. He is going to help her. William is doing this a lot these days.

Zara still couldn't get over herself. She was still blushing, still not having the ability to make her body follow her brain. Was her brain even thinking? No. Well yes. But thinking of Patroclus. Only him. HIM. PATROCLUS. That one person in the world who had been special to Zara the day she met him. Really though, she never thought of crushing someone. She's eleven for Godric's sake! But she did. And she couldn't turn it back.

Then she heard the name Willie. What? Willy? Willie? Oh who cares, they sound the same. Then she blinked. OH HEYYY. She can blink now. The name reminded her of a song. And then it reminded her of a person. Willy Wonka. OOHH, chocolate, candies, lollipops, YUMMEEHHHH! Patroclus Hudson slowly left her mind for a while. It went back to its drawer, and locked itself up. He'd be back soon. But for now, her thought of him are safe within that drawer.

Her hand was able to twitch. Then slowly, she tried if it would move. It did, then her lips slowly curved into a smile. 'Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka the amazing chocolatier. Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka, everybody give a cheer!' The song began to play in her head until it faded into merely an inaudible sound because she began to burst in laughter. For some reason, she did.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!"

And laugh some more.

"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!"

And some more.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!"

Until she could laugh no longer and realized she was on the floor, holding her sides as she was shaking with laughter.

She clapped at William's front roll attempt. "that's great William!" she said and he asked her how many they were to do. Heather tried to stand again to do another roll. "hmm..it said we have to do 50..." she rolled once more and waited until she could talk properly again. "...so if this is your first time...you have 49 to go...and since i did two...i have...32 more rolls to go."

Rose looked outraged 'So, what, if your friend called me a freak, you wouldn't at least try to back them up, like saying 'Oh, it was just a joke!' I would, and I did! Gryffindors know how to treat their friends!' Rose said firmly 'Well, go to Lafay, but you'll just get a cold stare and probably told to 'get back to your Common Room little boy!' And then you'd start arguing with her, and then we'd lose housepoints!'

'I'm sorry for acting like a prat!' Rose said as she leant up against William 'This is good you know, as Cleo was getting ready to smash your face in!' "Ohh, Christmas at Hogwarts, huh?" Zara smiled. "It must be a lot of fun. That makes me wonder where I'll spend Christmas."

She sighed a little, resting her elbows on her knees as her cheeks rested on her palm. Where would she spend Christmas? Would her parents be home, or at the Ministry Christmas eve? Wow, it has been a long time since they've sent a letter to Zara. Maybe they're too busy.

"...I did 16 rolls with Zara in the defense training room." she explained to the boy and stood up once more. She once again did two more rolls making it 4 for today. Emily kept her head down not daring to look at her friend. She fiddled at the stap of her watch as the two girls sat in scilence. Nika was her best friend. Her first and only best friend. 'How could you do this to her?!' a voice said inside her head. She felt suddenly selfish, as if wanting to know her mam was a bad, selfish choice. But she coudn't back out now, her sister had already quit her job, her parents were already looking for a house...

As Nika spoke Emily wanted nothing more than to hug her, or shout her. Tell her she didn't understand and tell her she was sorry. "I..." she murmered but then Nika was out of there.

Emily tried to go after her but it was like her feet were glued in place. "Nika!" she managed to cry, her voice very crackly. "Nika I'm sorry! Nika!" But she was gone. It was to late.
Tears fell from her eyes by the bucket load and she turned and ran to her bed. She'd never forgive herself.

Common room. Right, she could probably do some stretching here.

Zara began to stretch. And stretch lazily. She was kind of sleepy right now. Just doing the stretching to get it over with. She was yawning. Yawning while stretching. Yawning as she reached for the sky.

Still yawning as she reached for her toes. Still yawning as she reached for her back. And forever yawning until she finished. Right, glad that's done.

" Good point" William told Rose. "DADAD would be better if the teacher had been at the class" William said to Rose.

William was good at this, definitely. He just made ten rolls effortlessly on his first tries. Heather clapped for him. "That was really good, William." she said and stood up once more. She did one, and tried one more, and kept going and going and going and stopped. She looked at William. "that makes ten for me today as well." she said with a laugh. Wow. and she didn't get that dizzy yet.
