| | | The Office of Professor Alexia A. Carlton OOC: Before posting in this thread, you must first post in the Waiting Area for Professor Carlton's Office. The Office of Alexia Carlton
In its time, this particular office has housed a number of different professors, most, Lexi Carlton would assume, bringing about their very own special flair for decorating, meeting, and greeting. Professor Carlton knows not what it looked like when it first came to be, nor does she ever recall visiting it during the years she attended school here at Hogwarts. She simply strolled into it a little over a year ago and...well, took over in her own special way.
Lexi is a pureblooded witch who was born and raised in Sevenoaks, Kent, England. Despite her birthplace and the fact that she attended Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, much of her life, so far, has revolved around living in the United States of America, where she attended a university and worked in the American Ministry of Magic.
Once inside the office, you'll find that it's typical of what a person would expect any office to look like. The professor sits at a large, wooden desk centered along the back wall. A wizarding portrait of the Carlton family of five decorates the wall just behind the desk. If you watch the portrait long enough, a Carlton or two just might grow bored of their pose and walk away. Don't worry, though, they'll be back later, of course!
Little odds and ends throughout the office, such as a miniature model of the Statue of Liberty and a framed portrait of Times Square, reflect Lexi's time away from her home country of Great Britain. A bookcase lining the entire left wall of the office houses Lexi's career-oriented literature, diplomas from Hogwarts and university, and a collection of framed pictures of family and friends. Don't let the professional appearance of the office fool you into thinking Lexi is all about work and no play, though. In between staff meetings and teaching class, the Charms professor enjoys sitting back, relaxing, and thumbing through the latest edition of Witch Weekly. It's typical of Lexi to have a couple of issues squeezed in amongst the literature, diplomas, and pictures situated on the bookcase.
Once you’re invited in, please help yourself to a seat. Professor Carlton is quite happy to see you!

"Miss Shepard? Miss Shepard! You can come in now," she called, just loud enough to be heard from behind her desk. Swinging her feet back and forth over the arm of the chair, Destiny was thinking of ways she could get that glass of lemonade. Not having any house elves of her own, she wasn't sure how to make one appear. It was much different in the kitchens. Down there you could just point and yell at them to get a drink. What was one to do when they weren't in the kitchen?
She supposed she could clap, and she was thinking of doing just that when Professor Carlton's office door swung open. Destiny hadn't expected the woman to answer so quickly and if she had, her shoes would have still been on.
Nah, she would have still taken them off. Removing her legs from the chair's arm, she quickly put her shoes back on her feet and made her way into the office. Once inside, she shut the door behind her for fear of eavesdroppers. Wouldn't want people spying..that was Destiny's job, after all. "Hello, Professor!" she said, hand already in her pocket. No, she would not pull the parchment out yet. "Your chairs are comfortable."
The boy in the office with them..he was in Lafay's as well, wasn't he?

O___O Oh, how polite. The girl had remembered to shut the door behind her, which Lexi was grateful for. Usually she had to either get up from behind her desk and shut it herself or fumble for wand to shut it with magic. Lexi smiled at Destiny then nodded in reply to the comment about the chairs. "Mmhmm, they are. I wouldn't have it any other way," she remarked. Nope. Hard, half-broken, uncomfortable chairs just cramped her style.
She paused for a moment, waiting for Destiny to speak up, but when the girl never did, Lexi decided to take the conversation into her own hands. "So, Miss Shepard, how are you today?" she asked, figuring that would be a nice, polite way to inquire as to what she could do for the girl today. While she waited for a reply, she glanced over at Simon, who'd been silent for a while now. Had the cat gotten a hold of his tongue, or something?

Yeah, they should totally have those chairs in the classrooms. How did the Professors expect them to learn while they were sitting in hard and very uncomfortable chairs? Sure, sometimes they got lucky and they were allowed to sit on pillows and bean bags, but pffft, Destiny wanted a nice cozy chair..it would be easier to fall asleep in. She smiled a cheesy smile and quickly glanced around the woman's office. She was looking for a sign that proved Professor Dodson had been in there, but she didn't see any flowers.
As she stood there, she was having second thoughts about showing the parchment to the Professor. What if she KNEW it was her fault that the thing was written up? Gah! Sure, Carlton didn't seem scary and mean, but she could be like a polar bear; quiet and calm but once someone steps into their territory..RAWR! They attack. Destiny was in the Professor's territory now.
Thankfully the first question was not what she was doing there, but how she was doing. It gave her time to prepare for the wrath of the Professor. "I am good. Good and alive.." For now. she finished mentally, before giving a quick thumbs up. Her other hand crinkled the parchment in her pocket, hoping it would look like she had it for a while. The older it looked, the truer her story would seem, right?.
Maybe she could just roll the parchment into a ball and chuck it at the woman's head? Too bad she had shut the door before thinking about that idea.

Surely he couldn't say anything now else she'd report back and he might as well sign his death warrant with the Slytherin head of house. Simon bit his lip, meerly glancing at Professor Carlton as he sat quietly and tried to figure out the best way out of this and how to handle things further.

Maybe she could just roll the parchment into a ball and chuck it at the woman's head? Too bad she had shut the door before thinking about that idea. Good...and alive? Now that wasn't quite the answer Lexi had been expecting, but then again, this was Destiny Shepard. From the little Lexi knew about Destiny, the girl could seriously get herself into some odd situations. As a matter of fact, the first time Lexi and Destiny met, Destiny had dashed under Lexi's table and hit there to avoid her Ravenclaw robe-buying grandmother. Funny girl, yes. "Well that's good to hear...that you're good," she said. "I get the feeling you've come here for something other than a random chat, though..." She paused and grew quiet, waiting for the girl to clarify whether or not that was true. Quote:

Too quiet," Lexi said, turning back toward Simon. The boy hadn't said a word in quite some time, and Lexi thought it may have something to do with the fact that Destiny had arrived. It seemed the boy had something to tell Lexi that he just couldn't say in front of someone else. "What's wrong? Do you need to speak with me privately?" she offered. "I can always cast a silencing charm, so that only I can hear what you've got to say..." Of course, Lexi would still carry on conversation with Destiny, too. She couldn't just ignore the girl and whatever it was she'd come to say!

Simon had actually been hoping Professor Carlton would speak with Destiny and the girl would go and he could speak freely once more. And actually get the words out this time, he berated himself for hesitating. "Yes I would prefer to," he answered quietly lowering his gaze to his hands for a moment.
His gaze lifted as she mentioned a charm she could use that would help and he nodded at the suggestion. He certainly wasn't going to try and meet up with her again and he had already wasted enough time getting to her this time. "That would be good," Simon accepted.

Without hesitation or another word, Lexi raised her wand and cast a silencing charm, making it to where only she could hear what Simon had to say. She hoped Destiny wouldn't take it personally, but at the same time, she was sure the Shepard girl would understand. When the charm was good and in place, Lexi turned to Simon. "Alright, what's going on, Simon? Is everything alright?" she asked. As the seconds ticked on, Lexi grew more and more anxious to hear what the boy had to say. It seemed urgent. She hated when her students were troubled!

| Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - ❄ Lunar Library Lurker ❄ - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror Simon waited as Professor Carlton set up the charm, inwardly relaxing once it was done. He did his best to appear normal so the other girl in the room wouldn't think twice about anything. "Well you see...what I over heard was..." he started to say gathering his thoughts on how to say it before finally coming out with it. "Professor Lafay gave Evelyn and this girl the task of...spying on you...and Professor Dodson," he finally said not certain of Destiny's name only knowing Evelyn through Josh. "Granted it was said in hushed tones and when she realised us Gryffindors were still in the room she returned to normal playing it off as spying was bad but she didn't fool me, Professor."

Oh no!
Destiny did not like when Professor Carlton put the silencing charm up. Sure, she was an not so EXPERT lip reader, but she didn't have a good view at the boy's face. She didn't want to make it all obvious by leaning up to see what he was saying! Besides, she had a feeling she already knew what this was about. They were going to bad mouth all the Slytherin's. Why else would the Gryffindor boy visit the Gryffindor Head of House?
Really!
Scoffing to herself, she glared at the boy as he spoke. Was he done yet? Destiny didn't know because she couldn't HEAR him, but his mouth seemed to FINALLY stop moving so she figured it was her turn to speak. Pulling out the parchment in her pocket, all the thoughts of her being scared gone, she started to unfold it before placing it on the table and sliding it over to the Professor. "I found this..somewhere." Not in her bag. "I think someone is spying on you!"
Too bad she really had no idea what that boy said..

Although she was upset--and highly upset, mind you--Lexi managed to keep her cool. She would not let this...whatever it was with Hecate and Sage...be like a stage show for the students. That is, if it hadn't already become that, thanks to all the spying that was apparently going on. "I see. Well, Mr. Bennett, first off, let me say how thankful I am that you've come forward to share this," she said, giving him an appreciative smile. "That was brave--very Gryffindor--of you. I think there are some things I need to take care of now, so if you'll excuse me, I'm going to pay Professor Lafay a little visit." Quote:

She wasn't one to get completely furious, and she was still managing to, surprisingly, keep her cool. "Well, apparently there's been a spy among us, or so I've heard. Surely this is the result of the spying that has been going on," she said. "Thank you for this little piece of evidence, Miss Shepard. Now if you'll excuse me, as well, I'm off to pay the Potions professor a little visit."

It did brighten a little however when she complimented on his bravery making him glad he had finally decided to go through with it. With the chaos surrounding the Potions homework assignment finally settled down and in the past, Lexi returned to her office with a few cardboard boxes in hand. She placed one beside her desk and the other beside her bookcase. When she was done, she stared up at all her belongings and drew in a deep breath, letting it out slowly as her eyes traveled from book to portrait to doggie bed.
Prince Charming, her little Chihuahua, and The Ferret, her...well, ferret...were both curled up asleep in warm beds under her desk. She watched them both for a moment before removing a few books off the bookcase and dropping them into the box. This was going to take a while if she went about it without magic.

"Packing?" For some reason, Lexi was so lost in thought that she missed the knocking. She didn't even realize she had a visitor until she heard the sound of her best friend's voice. "Oh, hey, Lil!" she greeted, dropping a fourth book into the box. She frowned at her progress, and then nodded. "Yeah..., I swore I'd do it muggle style, because I wanted to dust each item, but...I may just abandon that idea."
She frowned again, and then plopped into the chair next to Lil. "So, ...what's up?" she casually asked. "Ready for summer break?" She crossed one leg over the other, accidentally nudging the doggie bed The Ferret was sleeping in. She peered under to check on her babies, and then she glanced back up at Lil.

If I always did what you expected, what would surprise you?" she joked. She raised her wand, pointed it toward a nearby portrait, and had it pulled off the wall, dusted, wrapped in paper, and packed in less than thirty seconds. "There now. Was that charming enough for you?" She gave her friend a playful expression then turned away from the bookcase. "Brysen? What are you going to do with Brysen?" she asked. She guessed Lil already had plans...or at least an idea..., but she thought to ask just in case. "Oh, and when do we leave again? I just want to make sure I have the right date..." Her calendar was... somewhere amidst all the chaos in her office.

Really, where?
"He will be with his father." She stood from her chair and walked to the bookcase, tugging one book out, and opening it. Hmm. "Nice...male bonding time." Or so she supposed. Lilyan didn't know much about male bonding. For obvious reasons, of course. She lifted her eyes from the book, "Did you know that a good Charms professor is always ready for something to explode?"
HEH.
Lily closed the book. "July 10th." That way, she wouldn't be coming home and then just leaving again. |

HEH.
Lily closed the book. "July 10th." That way, she wouldn't be coming home and then just leaving again. Lexi just glanced at Lily out of the corner of her eye and gave her best friend a smile. She just loved Lil's sense of humor. She'd grown so used to it over the past two years they'd been working together. Two years? Just two? It seemed she'd been best friends with Lily for far longer than two years. Time really did fly when one was having fun! "Ahh, makes sense," she commented, nodding just once when Lil told her that Brysen would be with his father during their little tropical island vacation. She burst into another round of giggles when Lily quoted something from one of the Charms books on Lexi's shelf. "Yes, I did know that a good Charms professor is always ready for something to explode," she remarked. "July 10th..., got'cha," Lexi said, this time making a mental note of the date. "So how are... things?" Lexi was pretty vague with her question, but she was sure Lily would figure out that she was asking about the reason Lily was always smiling now-a-days.

| ♥ Touch Lass! | MOON OF MY LIFE | Lemon's Winner | Inside Kitty "They're going camping." Lily raised her eyes to look at Lexi once again. Heh. Hehehehe. Her silly Ex husband didn't really camp, so much as he packed up and moved to his "cabansion" in the mountains for the week.
So yeah, that would be interesting.
Lily replaced the book, and sat on the edge of the desk, "Things are...." Hmm. "Busy." Maybe Lexi knew what was going on at the Ministry, since her sister was the Minister and all. "Working, apparently." She gave her friend a look that only the woman could decipher. |

"Working, apparently." She gave her friend a look that only the woman could decipher. "Ahh," was all Lexi replied with. She didn't really know much about Brysen's father, so she just assumed he was the outdoorsy type and went camping all the time. "Well, I'm sure they'll have a good time then. I bet Brysen, being a boy, will like camping much better than hanging out with us on a tropical island."
Busy. Yup. Lexi knew all about that, too. She gathered from talking to Allie that moments of downtime were few and far between. "Hmm, same with Allie. Her free time is a thing of the past. I actually think she likes it that way, though," she said, shrugging then laughing lightly.
She paused and took a long look around her office. She loved it here. Really, she did. She smiled as she thought of all the people she'd met and all the good times she'd had. A moment later, she sighed and pointed her wand toward the bookcase, wiping an entire row of books off it and into the box. "I decided to do this this magical way after all," she said, stating the obvious as she turned back to Lily.

| ♥ Touch Lass! | MOON OF MY LIFE | Lemon's Winner | Inside Kitty Lily took a quick step back, ducking out of the way of the books as they flew off the shelf. She pulled herself back onto the desk and pulled out her own wand, twirling it between her fingers, "Want some help?"
"I'm particularly good with cleaning charms." Hah. The Charms thing would just never get old, would it?
Nope. Never. |

Nope. Never. Lexi laughed as she watched Lily's reaction to the books being charmed right off the shelf. "Oh, sure. Feel free to pack and clean to your heart's desire," she said, giving her friend a silly look. On that note, Lexi returned to taking items off the shelves, dusting them off, and carefully packing them into one of the two boxes she'd drug into the room. "Lil? You and I...we'll always be friends, you know," she said, pausing for just a moment to turn toward the nurse. "Best friends," she added with a smile. Funny how two years ago, Lexi had considered Allie her only best friend. Now, though, it seemed as if there had never been a time when Lily hadn't been around. Still smiling, she turned back around and tossed a few dust-free books into a box.
