Herminny had been lstening to the proffesor and according to what she heard it seemed they were to turn a lock into a clock and then the clock back into a lock and she was supposed to try it non-verbally. She would go non-verbal once she got the hang of it first. she took out her wand and pointed it at the lock before, "Horolos", Herminny said with concentration of turning the lock into a light pink studded wrist watch. she saw the lock turn into the watch she desired right before her eyes. She smiled but that faded quickly knowing she was heading right into the tough part of reverting it back. She waved her wand over the lovely watch, "reverto", Herminny said and concentrated hard on reverting process and it worked. there was the lock good as new sitting right on her desk. Now it was time to try it non-verbally Herminny thought. She cringed at the pospect but was gonna give it all she had. She pointed her wand at the lock again and thought Horolos concentrating as hard as she could but all she had managed was a half lock, half watch thing. she frowned at it but was determined to succeed so she pointed her wand at the mismatched thing and gave it all she had and then some in concentration and saw the rest of the lock transform into the pink studded wrist watch. she had done it and it felt like oh woew but she knew she was not done yet. She pointed her wand back at the wrist watch and and thought reverto with abosolutely everything she had concentrating super hard on reveri=ting the watch back into a lock and she was suprised to watch it work the first go, she felt like she was on cloud 9. |
Cadence gave an internal sigh as she was told to try again and make it harder this time. Perhaps she'd try it nonverbally first because she was pretty sure she had gotten the hang of the spell and would be able to transfigure it into something more difficult. So, nonverbally it was. Giving her wand a flourish, she thought, "Reverto!" sending the silver pocket watch back to its original state as a combination lock. Right, so, she had to concentrate. Staring at the lock, she imagined it transfiguring it right back in to that pocket watch she had just untransfigured it from. Picturing the changes in its properties clearly, she gave her wand three little circles, a flick, and thought as hard as she could, "Horolos!" And much to her surprise, the lock obediently changed into her handsome silver pocket watch. Finally, she seemed to be getting the hang of this nonverbal thing! She admired her pocket watch for a few minutes, just smiling at it. Then she thought, "Reverto!" and sent it back to its regular state. What to try next? Maybe she'd try one of those old-fashioned Muggle alarm clocks with the bells on the top that the little hammer thingy went back in forth between to sound the alarm? Yes, she'd try that. Nonverbally. Looking at the combination lock, she tried to imagine all the transfiguration it would have to go through to turn into one of these alarm clocks. The shape would change, it would get bigger. There would be fewer numbers, two hands, the bells, the hammer thing, some turny thing on the back to set the alarm. Staring at her lock with utmost conversation on these properties, she made three tight circles with her wand, a flick, and thought, "Horolos!" And her lock turned into a alarm clock... that was going off... very, VERY loudly. Picking it up, she examined it, trying to figure out how to turn off the alarm in a bit of a panic because she knew she was drawing attention to herself. As she looked it over, she seemed to have missed the part of the transfiguration that would allow her to turn the alarm off. |
Thank you professor, Amy looked at the deformed thing and murmered Reverto, it changed back to the lock, slowly she closed her eyes, imagining the clock she wanted, Holoros she told it definatley willing it to change, she opened her eyes and-well not the clock she wanted but almost, Reverto, she repeated as she closed her eyes to try the spell again |
Aww man, they didn't get to keep the pocket watch? Ah well, now that Fletcher knew how to transfigure 'em he could always transfigure anything to be a watch and sell them on the street. Sweeeet! "Re-ver-TOE," the boy stated, flicking his wand at the watch and watching as it turned back into a lock. Fletcher strolled up to the front of the classroom and obediently deposited it in the box before returning to his seat. |
"Reverto!" Ellie said at her little clock. She walked up to the front and put the now lock into the box. She then walked back to her seat and sat withe her hands folded on her desk. What was next? |

She listened to the professor as he explained what the spell did; quickly scribbling down notes. Collecting one of the combination locks as the box reached her, she passed the box on without even lifting her quill from her parchment. Iris looked up and listened to him carefully as he described the movements. She wanted that pocket watch. It was cool. Quickly making a few more notes, Iris picked up her wand and practiced the movements a couple of times. When she’d gotten the hang of it; Iris then picked up the combination lock and examined it. So, she had to imagine it turning into a clock. Picturing the properties changing carefully in her mind, Iris picked up her wand. “Holoros!” She said, copying the wand movement. Hmmpf. Nothing. It was still a combination lock. Sighing slightly, Iris glared at the lock, imagining an animation playing in her mind, of all of the properties turning into a pocket watch; around the same size of the combination lock. Iris figured that it would be easier to transfigure it, that way, if she didn’t have to change the size. The professor DID say that this one was the harder spell, right? “Hol-eh-ros!” She said, a little bit louder than she intended to. Lowering her wand, Iris watched as the combination lock slowly changed into a little, grey pocket watch. It was relatively simple, with not much design on it. Iris picked it up and opened it; to look at the face. Well, there were twelve numbers. Three hands. No Ticking. WTH man? This was not fair. First, she had a bracelet that was ticking. NOW, she has a clock that doesn’t want to tick! The hands WERE moving though … So … maybe it was just … a tick-less pocket watch… Iris looked up as the professor announced the class again.. Quote:
Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick … When she had a steady ticking noise stuck in her mind, she imagined the lock turning into a pocket watch again. “Holoros!” With the gradual ticking noise in her mind, Iris grinned as the lock turned into a watch again. Putting her wand down, and picking up the pocket watch, Iris put it to her ear. Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick … Smiling successfully at this; Iris knew that she’d done the transfiguration properly. SIIIIGH. Now it was time to change it back and chuck it back in the box. “Reverto.” The pocket watch turned back into the combination lock, and Iris got up out of her seat. Then she went to the front of the class and put the lock in the box, then went to go back to her seat. Iris read over her notes, and added to them, to see the things that she’d forgotten to write at the time. |
Oh. It was all over? Why shouldn't it? The lesson had been fast enough for him to take notice of things. Well, he did take notice, just later than anyone else, apparently. So, the pocket watch (which was not a normal watch, either) must be turned into a lock again. No problem. He'd done that before. "Reverto!" he said, and with a flick of his wand the 'pocket watch' held its true nature. A lock. Treyen took the lock in one of his hands and let it drop in the box, then returning to his seat. Without a lock, and without a pocket watch. But with an Ace of Spades card in perfect condition. |

"Reverto!" And LOCK. He picked it up and threw it back in the box from whence it came. When he got back to his seat, he picked up the toy soldier and started to play with it, sound effects and all. |
Selena sighed. She liked her clock. "Reverto," Selena said as she pointed her wand at the silver clock. It turned back into the darn lock. She placed it back into the box. Eh. She liked the clock more... |
Preston watched each student come up and place the lock back in the box. He was about to continue when a noise rang out that caused him to slip as he leaned on the desk. Quote:
The noise ceased and she was left holding a combination lock. Adjusting his collar, Preston cleared his throat. "Okay. If you haven't brought your lock up yet, just hold on to it until we're done. You've all done exceptionally well today. If you didn't get it, do not despair! Perseverance is key and I have no doubt you will all improve tremendously this term." Walking over to the board, he erased it to add new notes. "So, a review of our spellwork. I trust you already have the theoretical notes from before. Reverto, pronounced re-ver-TOE, will untransfigure an object. The wand movement is a simple flourish, almost like a check mark. It is easier to use to reverse spells you've cast yourself, and it is harder the stronger the spell." He paused, turning, to make sure everyone was following. "Horolos, pronounced hor-eh-los, will transfigure an object into a watch or a clock. The wand movement is three clockwise circles with a flick at the end. The duration that the object remains a watch will depend on the strength of your spell, but will never be permanent." Turning to face the class fully, he scanned the room. "And now an announcement. At the start of term, I was approached about the possibility of hosting a Transfiguration Club for those who wanted additional instruction and an opportunity to practice with fellow students outside class. I am willing to do so if there is interest. If you are interested, please see me once I've dismissed you." "Any questions before I assign homework?" |
Selena fixed up her notes in case she had messed up something. She added a little more detail then sighed. Joy. More homework... bah. She really didn't like work... Selena held her quill at the ready to write down the homework assignment. She hoped the homework wouldn't be too bad... |
Quote:
Ah, good enough.... She returned to watching the teacher, and, as homework was mentioned, sighed. C'mon, give the girl who almost got eaten by a cuckoo-whatsits a break! |
Oh. Next was review. That means the next next is dismissal! Yay! Ellie liked transfiguration, alright. But, she hated staying in class for too long. Time to go stretch her limbs. She watched Professor Kingsley anxiously now, kicking her legs beneath her chair. |
Cadence gave a bit of an embarrassed smile to Professor Kingsley as he changed her clock back into a lock. Riiiiight. Magic. She listened intently as he reviewed what they had learned, filling in the gaps in her notes where she had missed information earlier. And then he mentioned a Transfiguration Club, and she brightened greatly. That would be so much fun! She loved Transfiguration... and could obviously use a bit of extra help. When he asked if there were any questions, she shook her head. |
Cool, a Transfiguration club Lysandra thought. Maybe I'll join. I need to practice more. Raising her hand she asked Professor, when will we have the chance to sign up for the club? |
When the professor spoke again, she turned her attention to the man. Taking down what little notes she had forgoten she thought about the club he wanted to start. The offer sounded fun to her, she could always use more practice with transfiguration. |
A transfiguration club? That sounded like tons of fun! He and Rafe would have to join. He shook his head no when the Professor asked if there were any more questions. He waited for the homework to be assigned. |
sorry for the wait; internet troubles Preston took a long look around the room, seeing a few shaking heads and a lot of note-taking. He made a mental note to speak slower the first time around, so that they could keep up. Taking note of the one question, he put down the chalk. "Anyone interested in the Transfiguration club should see me after class. Also, some of you had questions that we didn't get to today," he looked pointedly at the students who had questions what would happen if they burned or ate Princess while she was transfigured. "You may also see me after class." Unholstering his wand, he continued to speak. "For your homework, I want you to practice these spells. I have some guidelines. Work with a partner and transfigure an item into a watch or a clock with horolos. Then, switch items, and untransfigure using reverto." He paused. "If you were not successful with reverto in this lesson, and your item is still transfigured, it will remain so for the next week. Use it to practice upon, as well." "5th years and above may use an animal for this exercise, however," and he addressed the students sternly. "If I hear of any abuse of creatures or attempts to transfigure a creature other than your own or one that you have explicit permission to cast upon, you will receive no credit for the assignment." In other words, don't come after Princess. Don't capture random creatures on the grounds. Preston watched them all, carefully. "There will be a written portion, as well. I will post full details on your noticeboards after lesson. You are dismissed and anyone wishing to see me may do so now." ooc: I'll leave the thread open for a bit for those who want to see him. No more casting or Prof. Kingsley will take points. |
Lysandra walked up to the Professor, put the lock back in the box. When will we know when we can sign up for the Transfiguration club? she asked. She really wanted to join it to help her with her spells. |
Snickering at remembering that she was going to stay behind to ask her question, Evelyn wrote down the practical portion of the homework before packing everything up. The mention of the Transfiguration club did not fly by over her head either. She hated to admit it, but this was one of her more difficult classes, that dealt with spells that is. Astonomy or Muggle Studies didn't count in this group. Perhaps joining the club would help her out a little. Although, the thought of joining another club was enough to make her roll her eyes. Eesh. Standing up, the Slytherin stretched for a moment before grabbing her bag and the pocket watch, and walking up to the Professor. She forgot to turn it back into the lock but...c'mon! She couldn't just change it back! Look at the detail on it! "Professor, you didn't answer my important question in class." she said, a small frown on her face even though a smile was threatening to show. She was going to ask about the Transfiguration club too, but some other girl had already asked. Woot! |
Kellen couldn't help it: a very large grin spread over his face at the mention of a Transfiguration Club. Now see, this was a club he could get excited about. Cela and Sabel and who-knew-how-many-others could get excited about the Dueling Club, he would sign up for something way more up his alley. He packed up his stuff and slung his backpack over his shoulders, then made his way to the front of the class. There were already some other kids up here, and making the same inquiry, so he patiently joined the line. |
Arya shoved all her belongings into her bag when she finished copying down the homework. A transfiguration club sounded like fun, she could always use the extra practice and it would give something else to do in her free time when winter came and she wouldn't be able to go swimming. Slinging her bag over her shoulder, she went to the front of class with the other students who wanted to join the club and waited. Some had other questions that need anwsering and she didn't mind the wait. |
Treyen was certainly on board for this Transfiguration Club. If he ever wanted to study Experimental Magic, then he should be doing his best in Transfiguration too. That's why, after scribbling down some of the homework, he gathered his belongings, and the Ace of Spades card, and walked to the front of the class, where one girl had already asked about the Transfiguration Club. He nodded at her, and then looked at the Professor, waiting for an answer to that inquiry. As, surely, everyone else was waiting for. |
Cedric scribbled on his parchment the homework details and listened as the professor gave them some further directions. He was really grateful that they would and could have a Transfiguration Club. He couldn't really tell that Transfiguration was one of his strongest subjects nor one of his weakest subjects neither. So, because of being indecisive if he should learn more about Transfiguration or not, he'd be pleased to join the club and hopefully, there'd be enough interested students to get the club running. He hastily placed all of his belongings including his quill, parchment and textbook in his backpack and slung it over his shoulders as he made his way to the professor's table. He suppressed a diminutive smile as he approached the professor's table. "I'm quite interested... and pleased to hear that there'll be a Transfiguration club, Sir." He said as he gently wiped his soft black handkerchief over his forehead. |
Sophia listened to the homework and suddenly thinking of a partner. She's determined to join the Transfiguration Club so she didn't stand when class was dismissed, waited for the other students to go out, and finally moved to a closer seat. |
