Was he late? Sage was almost always late but he was supposed to be setting a good example! The Herbology professor bustled quickly into the charmed kitched, hurried forward and bumped right into Professor Reynolds. Oops.

"S-sorry," he gasped, rather flushed from the hurrying he'd been doing. Oh, and there were already a fair few students in here.. he felt the normal burning sensation in his ears.

Diggy had to hide a giggle as the Herbology professor rushed into the room. He liked it when professors acted like students. Sometimes professors acted like they had never been kids. Well that give Dillon a little lift and he relaxed in his chair a bit and looked around at his fellow committee members. He only knew William and that was just a shame that he didn't know more people at Hogwarts. He was going to have to get out more.

Wesley had no idea the Herbology Professor was going to the same room as her until he sailed through the door and pedalled into Professor Reyalds.

She'd just assumed he needed to use the restroom or something.

Chris walked into Professor Carlton's Charmed Kitchens area on the thrid floor excitedly. As the ball was posted on the boards a few weeks ago, he had been expecting it and signed up for one of the committees and was picked for his first choice - FOOD!

After walking to the area and smiling and waving at all of his fellow food makers, he grinned at Professor Nolan and then waited for them to begin.

Just as Chris was waving a excited looking Hufflepuff, who just so happened to be a one Torin Kane, he noticed a embarressed Professor Dodson join the Food Committee. Ooooh he was helping them?! Chris walked over to stand with the Herbology Professor with an estatic grin. "Hey Professor Dodson, you helping out with the food too?!"

Carter heard the seat beside him move. He was surprised to see Destiny there. But then again, knowing someone trumped them having cooties. Now if only he could think of something clever to say. "Hey." Nothing clever came to mind.

He then looked back up at the door wondering when the meeting was going to start. He saw Rafe enter. "Hey." he said to him. Then he saw a lot of other people enter including the Herbology Professor and the Divination Professor. Maybe this meant they'd be starting soon. And that thought made Carter kind of hungry. Maybe they'd be sampling food today. If not then he might stay behind and make himself a pie.

He liked pie.

Gold skipped into the Charmed Kitchen, backpack slung over her shoulder. Only to spot Chris, the moment she entered. She sidled up to him, giving him a small smile, before looking around at the other students.

AND the professors.

"I was thinking of mixed food," she offered. "I wouldn't want a limited menu, and I think it would be amazing if we could have variety. I know I personally love menus that offer a lot of different things - seafood and chicken, and subcontinental and spices."

FOOD! One of Gold's very favourite topics!

Just as Chris was about to open his mouth and suggest a few item that he felt would be great for the Alumni Ball menu, a flash of bright hair and the smell of flowers overwhelmed him. He smiled brightly as he felt her stop and stand beside him, he reached his hand down and took her's in his with a grin.

Gold of course said something that was right and sounded pretty good to him. He then raised his free hand to add something. "Professors some specifics I think that could go along with the idea of a little bit of everything. Perhaps to get a bit of traditional Ball and elegant food we could make Chocolate covered Strawberries? And then for main dishes I say we have almost a around the world food-station place you know? I remeber a few terms ago in Muggle Studies class we were split into groups and we each cooked a dish from a different region." he added some of his ideas to help get the ball rolling.

Diggy raised his hand "Is this going to be a sit down dinner or just like a table set up for people to pick over?" He asked. That would determine what sort of foods to have at this ball, and he wanted the food to be good.

FOOOOOOD! Delicious, elf-made food! Evan excitedly half-ran to the committee meeting. It looked like he was late, but then again, this wasn't a lesson or anything, right? Peeking inside, he guessed he was late just for a few minutes. Good. Wouldn't want to miss anything about food.

Smiling at everyone inside, his smile totally disappeared when the blue eyes saw Carter. He had to be in his committee, didn't he? But no, Evan was going to ignore him. And so he did. Hearing a Slytherin boy's question, he nodded slightly. "Yes, how will the format be?" 'Cause, obviously, if people were going to sit down, there had to be proper food; while if it was only tables where people were on foot all night, snacks would be enough.

Nolan looked over at Dodson, who after nearly barrelling him down upon entering the room, started the meeting. He had thought he was doing a pretty good job, but the poor guy seemed to be awfully nervous...maybe he should jump in. He didn't want him to have a heart attack or anything! Ever since he had encountered all those students fainting and whatnot, he was rather paranoid of sick people.

"The setup is going to be a table format, not sit down" he explained. "I was envisioning a table laid out with food, as well as some plates and silverware and some chairs nearby so people can sit down and eat their food if they wish. That way, we don't HAVE to limit it specifically to just finger foods, but still, we should probably steer clear of things like steak," he said with a smile.

"Any more ideas?" he asked. They were getting some good thoughts so far!

Taking out his notebook he began writing things down, "Well professor, we have to think about the different cultures don't we? Some students will want some food from their homeland, I know we're not all from the same place and culture is good. It can be a learning experience as well, learning about different cultures while eating their food. We could have several smaller tables with the different foods while having one large table with the ... err regular food." William said his head tilted in concentration as he pondered just what kind of thing he was talking about.

"How about instead of just chocolate strawberries we have a whole fondue table?" Carter suggested. Fondue wasn't a muggle thing, was it? "And I agree that we should stick to smaller things since its not a sit-down event."

Oh, those were some pretty ideas. "I think a buffet sounds good, Professor," Gold said, looking up at Professor Reynolds. "That would save us the hassle of having to worry about who and how to serve, and people would be free to choose whatever they want to, provided that the menu is varied enough." Variety. That had to be there, pretty please!

"I like William's idea, too," she said, a little thoughtfully. "We could have two tables, or section the same table. That way, people won't have trouble finding what they want, if they only want to stick to a regular menu. I don't think space will be a problem, we have magic to fix that," she added, in a matter-of-fact way. "And since everyone seems to want something of a variety, maybe we could include a dish from each continent, or at least one sample of every type of food, salty and spicy and sea-ish." She twirled her wand. Oh God, she loved talking about food. "We could still stick to regular stuff, for dessert. I don't think anyone will have a problem with that, professor - professors." Regular desserts were always a hit.

Or so had been Gold's experience, so far.

"Do you think we could offer personalized candy? Badger and lion and raven and snake-shaped toffees, or something fun, to the alumni?"

Wow. Everyone had such great ideas. It was all making Aiden quite hungry to say the least. "Definitely chocolate-covered strawberries," he agreed with Chris. That just seemed like a perfect treat for a ball. Elegant, but not so much as escargots or something. Not many students enjoyed snails anyway.. The one boy's suggestion about a variety was also a smart one. Everyone could find something they'd like, then.. even those picky eaters ~~like himself~~.

"Ooh, and good idea, Gold!" He sent a grin her way. Personalized house candies. Hmm.. now they just need some more improvement of the non-dessert foods, it seemed. "As unoriginal as it sounds, I think we should have fruit and vegetable trays. Can't go wrong with that."

Legend didn't know most of these people except for the Professors and-HEY William! "Hey Willy!" He said as he gave a high five to the other boy. Now things were getting interesting.

The ideas that everyone was putting out were pretty good. Legend had to admit trying foods from different parts of the world would be cool. It made sense food for everyone right? And normal food made sense too.

That that redhead-the....Prefect said something that made an idea pop into his brain. Legend jumped to his feet "Hey! Food isn't just about like....food right? It's about making it look nice too right? So for the desserts and stuff we should like get the normal stuff like cakes and whatever and charm them to look like vegetables." It would be awesome! It would confuse AND trick people. And they could say that they were eating healthy. "I think people would find it funny." The fourth year shrugged and sat back down.

The ideas being thrown across the kitchen were all good ones and Sage nodded in approval as he scratched his beard thoughtfully. "So we're agreed on having a buffet type set-up with a large variety of different dishes," he said, summing things up. Sounded like a plan to him.

He especially liked the idea of charming desserts to look like vegetables. Heh heh.

"But we still need to come to a mutual decision on which dishes to go for." Sage sent a glance toward Nolan and decided now was a good time for phase two of the meeting. With a flick of his wand, the many invisible dishes that had been placed around the room on the counters reappeared. Each dish contained just enough for everyone present to try a mouthful and there was everything from the traditional cheese and pineapple on cocktail sticks to what looked like .... dog food?

Hey, they wanted variety, right?

"I hope you're all hungry." He didn't know about Reynolds, but he certainly was.

Gold totally knew what she wanted to try out. She looked around, saw that no one had tried anything yet, and decided to be the one to start things off. Because, you know, no use being shy. It was not like the dishes were going to come to life, and eat her - SHEEE was going to eat them.

Hehe.

She skipped over to a pretty dish, and peeked at it. RAWR! Biryani! Seriously, what was THIS doing here? This was too fantastic for words. She made a few, cute-ish faces at the dish, before looking up at the two teachers. "We need Biryani on our menu, professors!" She said, all energetically. "It's one of Pakistan and India's most amazing dishes." Lord, the dish can be yummy. Well, when cooked right, that is.

Gosh, gosh, gosh. BIRYANI!

Taking her eyes off the should-be-delicious dish, She skipped over to a big, copper dish, shaped like two clam-shells attached at one end. Twisting open the clamp, Gold peeked inside. Her guess had been right. It was the Portuguese Cataplana. Thankfully, however, it was not the clam-and-mussel kind. Gold had never, ever been able to bring herself to eat that. The dish was chicken-and-herbs, and Gold picked up a fork to try a tiny bite. "We could serve Cataplana, too," she said, out loud. "Though if the one on the menu focuses on mussels, I think I might avoid it."

Soo. Other than clam-and-mussel, there was Chicken Cataplana, clam-and-chicken, and chicken-and-herbs. Well, usually. Gold eyed the big dish, thinking of all the varieties of the dish.

Nolan HAD eaten a bit before he got there but now that all this delicious FOOD was in front of them...well, he'd HAVE to eat some of it, right? Surely all these students couldn't eat it all themselves!

He eyed all the food, his eyes lingering a bit on...was that DOG food? Oh goodness. Had Dodson gone off his rocker?! He looked at some of the dishes that HE had provided as well, some of his favorite foods...a chocolate fondue fountain, a plate of cheese quesadillas cut into triangles and...tuna salad.

What? Lots of Omega 3's!

He grabbed a few cheese cubes and ate them as he watched Gold attack the dishes. Hehe. He turned to the other students. "Go ahead, dig in!"

Food!??! They got to eat now?! ALRIGHT!! This was the best group EVER! Standing up quickly Legend looked around at all the food. Where would he go first?!?

His eyes landed on the the red haired girl. She was all freaking out about some dish. Maybe it was good? Grabbing a fork from the side he stuffed a bit of the rice thingy in his mouth. The first thing he noticed was that it was SEASONED. But not in a bad way. No. This rice was good! "Hey you're right! We need this...Brinana stuff." He was sure he got the name wrong but that was alright.

Looking at the other dishes he nodded noticing a few that he knew. His green eyes slowly landed on another small plate a couple of feet away. Glancing at he his mouth opened wide. It was Canederli! the first little snack he had gotten when he moved to Italy almost 8 years ago. Grabbing one of the small dumplings he stuffed it in his mouth. Ahh! It was such a....calming food? "Keep the Canederli." Legend said as he chewed. "My Grandpa told me that it's Italian, German and Austrian. That's like...almost universal. And it's good for vegetarians." It was usually only bread or potato.

Walking over to the other dishes he noticed things like fish and chips, pizza, tacos (which he so happily took). This was the best day. Ever.

Good God, this Legend boy must be an INTERNAL KIN, or something of that sort. "Biryani," Gold corrected, with a chuckle. "You can get it anywhere in South Asia." It was, what, a staple delicacy?

Since Legend seemed to share her love for food, Gold decided she might try out what he was trying. Of course, only as long as he did not try anything that looked like it had once walked and talked in the sea. MUSSELS. Or clams. Eep. Shaking her head at the thought, Gold slowwlyy inched towards the dish Legend seemed to be enjoying and, peeking at it, picked a dumpling with a gloved hand. Which turned out to be completely delicious. "I second that!" She said, swallowing the small bite she had taken. "They have something similar to this in the subcontinent, too. Only, they call it by a variety of local names." STRANGE names.

Gold didn't remember even two of them.

Sad, right?

Speaking of Italian food, was that Gold thought it was? She skipped over, as if pulled by an invisible line. Picking up the spoon that rested next to the two dishes, Gold scooped out a small portion of the delicious-looking ice-cream, and swallowed. Good gosh! Milk, melted sugars, cream, an ever-delicious variety of nuts AND fruit-flavours. This was definitely, definitely what she thought it was! "Sir, sirrr!" She looked up at Professors Dodson and Reynolds with HUGE, green eyes. Well, huge right now, that is. "We need Gelato on the menu. It's like, Italy's ice-cream specialty."

For her.

Gosh, she loved Gelato.

"We could have cheese in bowls, evenly distributed throughout the main table," Gold offered, as she finally managed to tear her eyes away from the Gelato, and focus them on the cheese. Cheese, there is no doubt, is completely yummy. Which was exactly why Gold wanted to try some. But, you know, she didn't want to try out stuff whose taste she was already certain of. Though, that said, cheese DOES come in an awful lot of variety.

Gosh, gosh, gosh. FOOD!

William stood frozen to the spot as everything appeared. His mouth was watering as the delicacies were shown to him, a cornucopia of deliciousness, but first he needed to know one thing. Having food allergies was horrible, he couldn't even sniff the stuff without breaking out into hives, let alone taste it. One reason he was now leery, standing of to the side, a quirked up eyebrow. He didn't want to say anything for fear of being rejected; an out cast in this small feast.

Crossing his arms he watched Gold and Legend eating away. "That looks so good." he said, watching them with longing. It was then he thought of something. "Professor...err I mean Professors, what about people with food allergies, we need to be careful about not hurting them." like me he thought. "I'd like to try the food but I am not sure if there's any pineapple in them and don't want to risk it." he added sheepishly.

It would be just like an eating contest. An eating contest that he was trying to lose and his contender didn't know about.

He just hoped Destiny was hungry. He didn't want to look like a complete pig. At least not on his own.

It would be just like an eating contest. An eating contest that he was trying to lose and his contender didn't know about.

He just hoped Destiny was hungry. He didn't want to look like a complete pig. At least not on his own.

Destiny's eye involuntarily twitched and her stomach grumbled as all the food showed up. She looked up and down at all the food just WAITING to be devoured and her eye caught the most DELICIOUS looking thing EVER!

OMG!

There was a chooooocolate fountain. Sure, it was a fondue fountain which meant you were supposed to dip things in it..well, she was gonna dip something in it alright; her fingers. She would have gone for the whole face in fondue fountain look, but others needed to taste it still.

Or did they?

She didn't need to be told twice to 'dig in' and was standing up, trying to make her way over to the fountain, when Carter grabbed her and started taking her AWAY from the chocolate. "Noooo! Chocolate first." she mumbled, trying to pull him away from whatever he was going to eat.

It looked disgusting anyway.
