Chris looked at Professor Pilliwickle with bright eyes as she went on about the possiblities of the Reverto Spell and in doing so answered his question. "Thank you Professor, I was really wondering about that." he smiled.

Hmmm, you could do other things to?! Let's see a non-living thing to revert. "Ooh! Professor Pilliwickle, could you revert a cake back into it's original ingrediants?"

Tiberius poked at his flower-less stems as he considered the professor's question. He hadn't managed to do the spell.

"Professor? What about things that are combinations? If you use this on something like mud, would you get dirt and water separately? Or just one?"

He continued poking at the thorny steams with his wand. Maybe he should try the spell again?

She could break her promise to Professor Dumont just once, right? Right?

Gold raised a hand. "Professor, if we use that spell on a bit of dyed hair, would the hair go back to its original colour?" She picked at a strand of orange hair, as she spoke. She knew that her favourite hairstylist used a fair amount of magic, when working with funky stuff like hair dyeing and streaking -- maybe she used Reverto, too?

"... and we could convert a magazine into paper, couldn't we? Or a pretty necklace back into a bit of gold, or whatever it's made of." She liked that idea. Molten gold... lovely.

"... and, professor?" She had a question, now. "What about things that were once alive? I mean," she frowned a bit. "What about something that's made of fur?" Her frown deepened a lot, as she spoke. Anyone could have told she was against the use of real fur. "It's not possible to bring back life, so would we just get..." She trailed off, not wanting to say what was on her mind. It would be horrible, to get a dead animal.

She wasn't so sure if she wanted to think of what this spell could do, anymore. The fifth year looked down at her hands, and checked a sigh, as she waited for the Professor to answer her question. She hoped the response would be a really big no. Really hoped that.

"We... are all made of things," Lina said, overhearing Gold, and getting distracted from Neptune. "I would guess that the life would not be returned, but something could be returned to an old form, or even the base materials or something." She bit her lip slightly, getting probably the same image that Gold was getting. "It would probably be possible, if you can revert both live things and inanimate things. But maybe... you could restore something that way too. Like something that was made of fur that had deteriorated, you could restore it to looking like new. Or you could restore a favorite stuffed animal that had started falling apart. Like how some of us turned the flowers into buds or something similar. Not doing it all the way, you know?"

...oh Merlin.

Oh MERLIN.

"Chotto matte," he finally managed, looking from one to the other and holding one hand toward each of them, as if to make them stop. If these two started in on each other... oooooh things would get so awkward. "This is not an argument that needs to be started, it's... silly."

Because surely the spell wasn't suggested for use on humans. At all. So this was a moot point. And there needed to be no argument! See? Everyone be happy.

If only. At least Lina had gotten distracted by Gold... now if he could just get Neptune to let the idea go. How, he had no clue. But... well. Raiden was not going to let any students cast this spell on him. Ever.

Candy hadn't been able to do this spell at first. She had just waved her wand at her flowers but nothing had happened. Even though she had said the incantation a bunch of times.

"Revertoesss!"

"Rehvertoehsss!"

Nope nothing.

Now she tried again. The first year pointed her wand at nothing in particular and went all "Orchideous!" Pretty tulips erupted out of its tip and she looked at them and BEAMEED. Because they were SO PRETTY!

"ReVERto!"

She BEAMEEED because this time, the spell worked! The flowers went away and in their place were pretty seeds. Not as nice as the flowers but still SOOOO awesome! OOOH! This was a nice lesson it was!!

"Professah!" Her hand shot up in the air when a question was asked. "Maybe we could turn steam back to liquid water?"

OOOOHHH!

Of course they were all made of 'things.' But that wasn't what Gold had asked. She still nodded at Lina, though, in silent acknowledgement of the girl's thoughtful response.

"Professor," Gold raised her hand again. "It's not really possible to revert humans into babies, is it?" Because that would be scary. "I mean, there is the whole thing about human beings having souls -" Not that everyone believed that -- "- and, even if we place that aside, that would be really complex magic, would it not?"

She didn't think anyone could do that. Not even the Professor, though she looked old enough to have had quite a long, long time of practice. Maybe even a century of it?

"thanks Professor. I will keep trying." Kay smiled glad that she had gotten that close. "This is my great suit." Turning back to the flowers she started over. "Orchideous." The flower grew back. Waving her wand she started the next step. "Reverto!" the flowers started to change and what was left on the table were liltte seeds. "Yes! Professor I did it." Smiling she thought she was ready for the next step.

Avery must have been day dreaming through out the lesson so far. She remebered coming into class but she couldn't remember what she had done since then. Her eyes could have very well been glazed over as well. Avery shock her self awake and started to pay attention to what the professor was saying. Avery wondered if the professor even nocited....

Mildred listened carefully to everyone's examples. She'd been expecting the usual.. you know, paper back to a gooey pulp.. sugar mice back into sugar.. some of these students though.. they had some DISTURBING thoughts!

The Professor blinked, a little worried.

"Trying this spell on a human would have dangerous consequences," she warned, looking at Miss Botty in particular. Apparently she wanted to try it on the kitty Prefect. "We're far too complex and the effects could be horrific!"

Giving her head a flustered shake, Mildred got ready to continue.

"Butterflies however, have a much simpler form.. and practising the spell on them is perfectly fine!" It would probably just TICKLE them. HEHEHE. "It will require more concentration than reverting the flowers," she'd be surprised if some of the younger ones even managed to pull it off.

"Some come on! Papilio! Reverto!"

Reverting butterflies to caterpillers, REALLY, everything about transfiguration at this school seemed so sissy to him. But he decided he would give it a go anyway and and thought of butterflies as he thought the spell papillio and butterflies apeared. He then pointed his wand at the buttterflies and said, "reverto", and sure enough with concentration the butter fly was now a catterpiller which he caught in his had before it reached the ground. He dicded he might as well make it a butterfly again and pointed his wand at the catterpiller saying the same spell with concentration of intent and the caterpiller was a butterfly again. WOW, he thought sarcastically as he laid his head on his desk, this class is so boring.

Oh Merlin thank you. Raiden breathed a sigh of relief and leaned back in his seat. Surely Neptune would give up quietly on this then, since... well Professor Pilliwickle had said 'horrific'.

"Right... butterflies."

With a flick of his wand, Raiden produced a handful of blue butterflies. Holding out a hand, he coaxed one to land on his finger and directed his wand at it. Now it was just... focusing on returning the thing to catepillardom. Even if it didn't want to.

"Reverto."

Hmmm. Nothing. Which meant he had to focus harder.

"Reverto!"

Oh yaay it worked this time. Raiden watched the catepillar crawling across his finger, slightly pleased that he'd been able to do it without killing the thing.

But the poor FLUTTERBYS! Lori pouted once, but did as instructed and picked her wand back up again.

Flicking her wand, along with the incantation "Papilio"; Lorelai ceased to giggle loudly at the dozen pretty pink flutterby's that appeared there. One even seemed to have GLITTER on it. GLIITER? Like OHEMGEE. Hehe.

Was it even possible to have glitter on a flutterby? Probably not. It was probably just a flicker of light. Yeah, that sounded better than her idiotic thought of GLITTERY FLUTTERBYS!

Oh right.. Back to the task. Taking a little breath, as she steadied her hand and concentration again, she flicked her wand and said the reversal incantation, "Reverto!" ; nothing.

Absolutely diddly squit.

Frowning to herself, she tried once more and bounced a bit, with a LOUD SQUEALISH giggle. She had DONE IT. There were atleast twelve -well, there should have been- catterpillars now crawling on her desk.

"Oh professor, aren't they CUUUUUTE?"

Turning butterflies back into caterpillars. What fun. But, well, she didn't want to get into trouble by not doing anything. "Papilio." she said, with a flick of her wand, and a few green and white butterflies appeared from the tip of her wand. THANKFULLY there was no blue, yellow, pink, or sparkly gold ones like last time. *shiver*

And...they were getting away! Alert! Fleeing butterflies!! EEK!!

"Reverto!" she said, slightly standing up and pointing her wand at the butterflies. A few of them turned....into something that looked like a rather large caterpillar with wings, while one lonely white butterfly turned completely back to it's caterpillar state.

Although, that wasn't really her concern at the moment. Her concern, and to her utter amusement, the butterflies had been flying away over some peoples head and when she managed to change a few of them...they dropped. HAHA! Even though her transfiguration wasn't all that good, she still managed to amuse herself in class.

Right.

Evelyn had asked Destiny a question a WHILE ago, and she was too busy cuddling her wand to answer it. She would just have to wait until after class to hear why she was burying her wand..no need to embarrass herself in front of the whole class. Being embarrassed in Potions was too much.

And now butterflies. If Destiny didn't like caterpillars so much, she would sit this part of the lesson out. Stupid butterflies..

'Papilio!' Destiny frowned at her butterflies. Why did they have to be white all the time? They were boring, and plain. Not that they weren't boring even if they were colorful..what's so fun about a flying bug? Nothing! Pointing her wand at the butterflies, to rid the room of the boring, Destiny did the wand movement, 'Reverto.'

Eeeep! Falling caterpillars! Reaching over her desk, Destiny cupped her hands together and caught the few that had actually changed. Good thing they all didn't change, her hands were not big enough to catch them all!

And she definitely did not feel the caterpillar that was on her head, thanks to Evelyn..

'Now we get to rvert back a living animal, this is so so cool', Herminny thought as she waved her wand and said, "papillio", thinking of of the intent she wanted and saw the butterflies. 'Now for the fun part'. Herminny waved her wand over one of the butterflies and said with intent of the spell on her mind, "reverto", and saw the butterfly become a catterpiller before her eyes. She smiled aat the sight. She was having so much fun. She decided to to try reverting the catterpiller back into butterfly again. She waved her wand over the butterfly and said, "reverto", and having the intent just like that the catterpiller was a butterfly again. Herminny giggled with glee as she watched everyone else trying the spell on butterflies.

"Papilio!" Lina cast, remembering what Raiden had said last time. She looked at the butterflies and thought over what the teacher had said. More complex organisms... and humans were far too complex... And then... "Professor... what if we mess up? I mean, what can happen to the butterflies?"

Well then... Miranda hadn't gotten her question answered, probably because the Professor didn't want to give the students any more weird ideas. Fair enough.
Miranda muttered 'Orchideus', conjuring up a few lilac orchids that fell on her desk. Well then, she had that figured out. Now, to turn it into seeds... "Reverto!" She called out, jabbing her wand at the flowers and- Er. They sort of shrunk, but nothing more. Allright, one more time maybe? "Reverto...?" There was sort of a hiss and the crumpled flowers finally turned into seeds. Ack! SUCCESS! But that was sort of weird. Well, nevermind that.

"Orchideous!" FLOWERRRS!

Oh goshness. They were going to do this on the butterflies? Eeeeeeek!
Butttt allrighty then... Here we go.

Miranda coughed, grabbed her wand tightly and... "Papilio!" She said loud and clear. A beautiful yellow butterfly flew out and fluttered around her before settling down on her flowers. Aw, it looked JUST like a Hufflepuff! TEHEEE!

Okay, so now to turn it into a caterpillar. Gulp.

"I'msorrylittleHufflepuff!" She said, grimacing and then pointing her wand at the insect, though she closed her eyes. "Reverto!" She squeaked and heard a crack. What the... Opening her eyes, she noticed her desk had sort of cracked a little, and there was a...stem with one single leaf poking through it.

She lowered her wand and looked around. I a- uuuuuuh...

Awwww..... Neptune had been SO SURE the SO SO SO pleasant Professor Pilliwickle would have been offended by the RUDE Slytherin and her name calling. Maybe Neptune should cry? That would probably get that girl in trouble - and RIGHTLY so.

Hm. Maybe later. "He's not exactly a human though. One has to consider the ears and..." GIGGLE. THE TAIL. GIGGGGGLLLLLEEEEEEEE!


Regardless, Neptune wouldn't be wasting more time on either of them since they both were Slytherin and obviously lacking any semblance of a fun streak. "Papillo," she cast leisurely, having practiced this one SO MUCH the butterflies seemed to KNOW her and her wand. "I'm sorry butterflies for what I must do to you now." Butterflies to caterpillars was not an improvement. "Reverto!!!"

Eh.. winged caterpillars fell on the floor at Neptune's feet. Ehh... she wrinkled her nose up and pulled her feet up in her chair so the ugly things couldn't touch her. "Eww..."

Now Michelle had to change butterflies into caterpillars. She focused her attention and said,"Papilio!" Two bright pink butterflies shot out of her wand. The easy part was over with. She now concentrated on turning them into caterpillars. "Reverto!" Nothing. She knew she could make something happen, so she concentrated harder and tried again. "Reverto!" Well, something did happen. One of the butterflies was half caterpillar half butterfly. It looked really funny, but she wasn't laughing because she knew she could do this! She focused all of her concentration on changing the other butterfly into a caterpillar, blocking our everything else. "Reverto!" Finally, the butterfly turned into a cute little caterpillar! She felt very accompished.

Carter cast Papilio and his characteristic Gryffindor butterflies floated out of his wand. He then cast Reverto as his little butterfly began ageing? de-ageing? reverting back into a caterpillar. He watched as the once flying creature became a little bug and fell to his desk with a little thud. Whoops. Maybe he should have caught it...

Ella smiled. She was good at Papilio. Casting the spell, she admired the rainbow butterfly for a little while before casting Reverto on it. It didn't work out right, and she ended up with half a chrysalis.

"Ummm, professor?" Ella said, raising her hand with a nervous chuckle, pointing at the cocoon. That surely wasn't supposed to happen.. poor butterfly. It was twitching.. and she was afraid to cast again. Maybe she should be more precise.

Looking at the caterpillar on Destiny's head Marie was glad she had decided to sit by herself in the back of the room. At least she didn't have a wormy thing crawling in her hair. Just to be sure though she put her hand on her head.... Nope, nothing there.

She listened as the professor told them they would be reverting butterflies back to caterpillars. She had succesfully turned the flowers back to seeds, surely she could change a butterfly into a caterpillar.

Thinking about pretty green butterflies she said "Papilio" as she waved her wand in the air. Looking up she seen 3 green butterflies. Holding her arm up, all three of them landed on her.

"Okay guys, time for you to go back to your unwinged form." With a flick of her wand and a confident "Reverto!" she watched as the pretty butterflies turned back into ugly little caterpillars.

Not wanting them to crawl on her she placed them side by side on her desk and watched them. The way they were llined up and the way they were moving looked like they were trying to race each other. Yes, watching them would keep her occupied for a couple of minutes.

Chris listened as Pilliwickle told them this next task would require more concentration. He could do that. He thought of the pink and orange butterflies he had seen in the Greenhouse gardens a few months ago, and said, "Papilio." two butterflies popped out and began to flutter in front of him, eventually coming to rest on his desk-top.

Ok now it was time to concentrate. He thought hard of ickle little catipillars and then said the incantation, "Reverto." he waited a second and then slowly and then speeding up, the butterflies' wings shrank away and their bodies became a little wider and then they were brown catapillars. "I did it professor!" the prefect exclaimed excitedly.
