Sarah stood staring at the devastation.
"How can this happen?," she muttered to no-one...as there was no-one else around. "One day,that's all we've had,one day and already every house is in the minuses.Unbelievable."
She continued staring and shaking her head,rooted to the spot with disbelief.

Blue eyes taking in the scene before her, Evolette McKenna shook her head slowly. How could they be so far into the negatives already? It simply boggled her mind how people couldn't just mind the rules. Or at least be more sneaky with the rules they broke. Honestly.

Crossing her arms, her lips pressed together as her eyes trailed off of the Slytherin hourglass, and over to the Gryffindor hourglass. Her mind itched to remember if she had seen Terry at the Feast, but she knew that she hadn't. There was really no point to keep thinking about him at the moment though, there was nothing she could do about their relationship.

So, she forced herself to think on something else, anything else; and then a smile slipped onto her lips as she remembered her talk with Cale and Anna on the train. Top points earner? She wasn't so sure about that, but then again, you never know what could happen.

Casper Scouten approached the set of hourglasses and tried not to notice how poorly Ravenclaw was doing so early in the year. It was quite embarrassing, actually, and he moved his drawing pad over the Ravenclaw emblem embroidered onto his robes. The two other students there, who he saw were a Slytherin and a Hufflepuff, didn't have to know that he shared the same characteristics as the fools who had created the reason for his shame.

The reason Casper had come to this room, of course, was to draw the hourglasses. With the sun hitting the glass just right and the edges of the flawless jewels gleaming with different degrees of brightness, it was truly spectacular. Today Casper was going to try a sketch before going back to the dormitory and filling in with watercolors.

Unfortunately, the Slytherin girl was standing directly in the beam of sunshine. From her angle, the picture would be perfect. Casper dreaded asking her to move, because she already looked disapproving, but it had to be done. "Excuse me," he said clearly, approaching the girl. "But could you move over just a foot or so?"

Evolette stopped just short of chuckling to herself. How odd it was that her moods seemed to be going one way and rapidly changing direction on her, and without so much as a small notice. It was rather rude actually. She should be used to it, she guessed, she'd always been the same way after a breakup, but this one had been different.

"Hmm?" she asked, turning her cool eyes onto the boy who was standing beside her. "Oh, yes. Of course." she added quickly, stepping back and off to the side a little, "Better?" she asked, tilting her head slightly.

Casper had half expected her to bite his head off. She had a regal, slightly imperious air about herself. So the calm response was a surprise.

"Er, yes, thank you." Casper said graciously. He placed his drawing pad underneath his arm and sat down cross-legged, preparing to begin a masterpiece. Unfortunately, as he did so, a rainbow of colored pencils spilled from his pocket and scattered across the floor in all directions.

"Rats!" Casper had forgotton he even had those in his pocket. He hadn't needed them for this particular project. But they were some of his best pencils and now they were all around the room, possibly even in pieces. Casper grabbed a light blue that was the only one left by his person and sadly put it in his pocket before commiting himself to go find the others.

The corners of her mouth turned down slightly when she noticed how sad the poor boy looked at losing all of his drawing pencils. She almost felt like they were her own. Kneeling down, she gathered up a few that had landed at her feet, and smiled at him. "There's a green one just over there." she said, pointing to the wall beside him, as she walked to his side.

Tucking her hair behind her ear, she sat down beside him, offering the pencils in her outstretched hand, "Do you mind if I watch you?" she asked, sitting in the sun was nice enough, but she could also take her mind off of Terry by talking to this boy, "Unless you're one of those people who hide what they are drawing until it's all done." she added, shrugging. "Either way, I'm Evolette."

Casper scurried to retrieve the green pencil she had pointed out. He came back and dropped it on the pile she had made of the ones she had collected, feeling somewhat like a dog playing fetch.

"Thanks a bunch," Casper said, suddenly feeling a bit shy. It was odd and he didn't like the feeling. He was usually incredibly personable and carefree. "I'm Casper Scouten." He wasn't sure if he wanted her to watch him draw. What if it turned out really badly? Usually he had great confidence in his artistic talents, but not today. "Yeah, sure, why not? Just promise not to laugh if it turns out badly." Casper said hesitantly and with the most awkward smile that had ever graced his face.

Evolette McKenna was used to making boys flustered, but she hadn't even been flirting with this poor boy, and he looked flushed. The poor thing. Either way, it was kind of cute the he was all flustered. "Nice to meet you Casper."

Placing a hand over her heart, she smiled at him, "I promise not to laugh at all." she said, "Lest my beautiful locks lose their shine." her left hand tugged at her dark hair as she spoke, then both of her hands rested in her lap. She couldn't help but notice the Ravenclaw crest on his robes, and smirked. "A Ravenclaw eh? I bet you're proud of the points you've lost." she rolled her eyes in an annoyed fashion. "It seems to be the thing, seeing which house can lose the most points before the term really starts."

Her eyes flew to the hourglasses again, and she shook her head, placing a hand over her mouth. "Sorry." she added, "Should I stop talking?" She knew that Terry hated when she bothered him whilst he was drawing something.

Beautiful eyes? Casper suddenly had an urge to see how beautiful her eyes were but thought he would rather die than meet them just for a peek. What is going on? What is going on? WHAT IS GOING ON?! Casper couldn't help but remember a conversation from a few years ago he had had with his father about the time when hair would start to grow on his chin and he wouldn't mind when his sister's friends visited the house anymore. Well Casper's chin did spurt the occasional hair every few weeks...

Casper's heart plunged. "No - no! I didn't lose those points. I would never do something so stupid. Ravenclaws are supposed to be smart. Obviously some people who are sorted here don't fit the mold as well as they're supposed to." He frowned and bowed his head to draw a few crooked strokes that he immediately erased to replace with proper ones that weren't crazed with the frantic feelings of a 13-year-old boy.

"Oh no dear, I didn't mean you specifically." she said quickly, reaching out to place a hand on his shoulder, but catching herself quickly. She didn't want to mess up his drawing.

"You look like one of those smart Ravenclaws." she added, winking at him, "I hear they are few and far between. Rare." She watched him carefully. He almost looked like... well, she didn't really know.

Patricia was passing by the Hourglasses for another look at Ravenclaw's disastrous first day. As she stepped closer, her foot slid over something. "What the...." spilled out of her mouth as she righted herself before she could fall. She looked around the floor to see what she had stepped on, and found a light blue pencil. Its tip was broken off but the rest was fine; she picked it up and turned to see who was around.

She noticed Casper and a slytherin girl standing a few feet away. The boy had a pile of pencils at his feet, so Patricia assumed the one she held was his. She walk over with a smile. "Hey Casper!" she said as a greeting, nodding to the girl at the same time. "I think this is yours... I'm sorry, but I think I broke its tip when I accidentally walked over it." She hunched one of her shoulders sheepishly.

A smart Ravenclaw! A smart Ravenclaw! He was a smart Ravenclaw! "Gee, thanks, I don't really think I'm that smart, really. Honestly...." Casper trailed off. Oh. Irony. Right. "Well yeah I suppose I'm pretty smart." He pushed his blonde hair around on top of his head to increase the messy look.

"You wanna be in the picture?" The words tumbled from his mouth before Casper knew he was even thinking them. That was a mistake. A big mistake. Casper almost ground his pencil into the paper, but refrained. Maybe she wouldn't think he was a freak. Maybe.

Casper received the pencil gladly. Maybe all his pencils would return to him at some point. "Thanks a bunch," he said and smiled. Thankfully he was able to meet her eyes. One out of two girls must be worth something right? Maybe he wasn't entirely bumbling. Except of course Evolette still hadn't answered him. Oh boy.

Kaika wanted to see the hourglasses for herself this time. The boy had been right! Hufflepuff was down by 15 points! "What?!" she exclaimed, slightly annoyed by that fact. Their house had to be the best this year. Well, every year, but they'd failed the last ones, so...yeah, this year it will have to change.

If it even meant to talk to the new arrivals, the first years, then so be it. They had to learn not to make them lose points. Though, wasn't Dominic into that account as well.

She sighed as she climbed up the stairs.

Casually walking by the Hourglasses, Whitney couldn't help but notice Slytherin's. "What?!" How was it possible that they'd already lost 28 points,putting them in last place? "Where was I when this happened?" she asked out to anyone who would listen. After not winning the House Cup last term,this was the last thing she wanted to happen. It definitely wasn't what she was expecting.

Evolette was more than slightly caught off guard at the boy's question. He wanted to sketch her into the picture? Thankfully she recovered quickly, not wanting to scare the poor boy. He looked, slightly terrified about asking in the first place.

She was about to answer him, when a girl appeared. Pressing her lips together, she waited as the girl spoke, and then turned her blue eyes back onto Casper. "Sure." she said finally. "What could it hurt?" She tucked her hair behind her ear, offering him a comforting smile.

Patricia smiled back at her fellow Ravvie, happy to be of service. She then noticed a few more pencils in a corner. She retrieved them and added them to the pile. "Here you go... I didn't know that you drew, Casper. Can I see what you do?" she asked, pointing to his drawing pad. She was so-so at drawing, but loved to admire other people's stuff.

She then noticed that the slytherin seemed a bit put off. "Sorry I didn't mean to interrupt... I'll see you in the common room... um ...later." She lowered her gaze and turned away.

Casper breathed a sigh of relief. "Alright, cool. Just, uh..." He realized he wasn't exactly sure what he wanted her to do. "Just sit against the Slytherin hourglass, I suppose. That way it all makes sense and I get my main model in there too..." He was lost in erasing a bit of the forming hourglass on his paper so that he could fit Evolette in there too. The pencil was taking over his mind and he could think more clearly now.

Oh right. She was going to have to sit still. Yeah, probably easier said then done, but she would try her best. "Okay then." she said. She was tempted to just slide over to the wall, but she figured that her robes would only end up in worse shape if she did.

So, standing up, she walked over to the hourglasses, and situated herself where he had told her, infront of the Slytherin emeralds. "How is this?" she asked, raising an eyebrow at him, waiting for him to look up from his sketch pad.

"Yeah, yeah, that's good," Casper said, his pencil-concentrated mind slipping a little bit for a fraction of a second. He bit his lip and looked at her critically - or so he thought, until he realized his critical look wasn't so critical anymore.

"Would you mind moving your hair over your shoulder, to the front? Only the sun and the color of your hair..." Casper would have bet his brand new set of pastels that his ears were a few shades darker than they should be.

"So, speaking of points, how did you Slytherins lose your sum? Seems to be nearly as bad as my house, at any rate." Ooooh yes, anything to distract her from the fact he was an awkward teenager.

Looking down, Evolette bought her hair over her shoulder with two fingers, dark curls shining in the sunlight that she had been placed in. "Better?" she asked, raising her head again, not failing to notice the shade of his skin.

It was a good thing, she decided suddenly, that she had not tried flirting with him. The poor thing was already blushing. She gave him another comforting smile, hoping that it would make him relax a little.

Wrinkling her nose, she tried hard to think of the reasons why Slytherin had lost their points, but no reasons appeared. The truth was, during the feast, Evolette had been staring at the wooden table, because it was the only way she could keep her gaze from landing on Terry and staying there. "Actually, I'm not exactly sure." she admitted.

"Yes, that's great, thanks," Casper said. The curl was a perfect surface for the light, especially in contrast to the sharp edges of the gem stones.

"I'm not exactly sure what happened to Ravenclaw either. I think there might have been a food fight." Pencil strokes covered the page and Casper felt comfortable again. He could talk normally now he was in his prime. "I bet it was first years. It usually tends to be. Then again I'm only a third year so I suppose I have no right. I'm still in the younger half of the school."

A smirk flitted onto her lips as she tried to keep herself from giggling. She was meant to stay still, right? "Let me get this straight." she started, folding her hands in her lap, "There was a food fight, and you didn't notice?" she asked, her blue eyes flicked over him as she pressed her lips together to keep her laughter inside.

She was quite curious to see how his drawing was coming, but she didn't move. "First years are all right." she said off offhandedly. "Actually, no. That's a lie, most of them are quite annoying." she amended quickly, nodding her head only slightly. He seemed a little down on his year, which he really had no reason to be. "But I'm sure you are a credit to all third years."

"Well, thanks, I do try," Casper said, trying not to feel smug. He changed Evolette's mouth to have the corners twisted up lightly. She was smiling, after all. It totally had nothing to do with the slight flush of her cheeks when her mouth looked like that.

"Yeah, there was some girl moping across the table from me and crying. I tried to feed her bread but she didn't want any." Casper smirked. "Didn't matter though. I got to eat more myself. I like food."

Evolette made a mental note that when Casper was drawing, he was more confident. It was nice to see him finally relax a little, even though she did find it completely adorable when he blushed. What could she say? She was a sucker for this boy.

"That was very sweet of you." she said, blinking a few times, she'd been holding still for not too long, but she was already restless. Then again, Casper seemed content now, so she would stick it out longer. "Most boys do like food." she added, chuckling a little. "As for me, I prefer strawberry ice cream."
