| | | Advanced Arithmancy Lesson 2
As you step through the Arithmancy classroom doors, the wooden desks and chairs have been arranged into the shapes of numbers, specifically a three and a seven. Professor Shackleton has provided a number of cushions in a myriad of colors and textures that are stacked by the door for you to choose from to match your comfort and liking.
Professor Shackleton sits behind her desk, sipping from a cup of tea with a box of tissues on the desk beside her. Her eyes appear a bit pink and glassy and her nose is red. She sneezes rather petitely in a high pitch, before blowing her nose and tossing the tissue in the trash can. Popping a cough drop into her mouth, Professor Shackleton greets you with a wave to conserve her already weakening voice. OOC: This lesson is for fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh years ONLY. Any students in first, second, or third year who post in this thread will be dismissed. |

He had SPACED! Tobi scrambled to catch up. "Ma'am" said Tobi raising his hand, "the capstone like the cornerstone takes from our firstname at birth it never changes if we change our name, but it uses our last letter, even though I go by Tobi, my Capstone is 'S' because by actual birthname is Tobias. It shows us our inclination for finishing what we start. some people are starters and some people are finishers, and the capstone shows us that."

Alessia, who had snuck in the back of the class raised her hand. "Hi! Can Uhmmm you tell me how many 0's are in a gagillion?" She smiled, and had a pad of paper and a pen.

Nodding again, and pulling her parchment closer, Liz starts writing Quote:
"Z"
Z: You are optimistic and dynamic. You tend to look at the bright side of life. You have high expectations, but also common sense. You are understanding, compassionate and kind. You have a sharp mind and can respond quickly when necessary. Your reflexes are excellent. You have wisdom and an ability to be a mediator of opposing parties. You have to guard against impulsive and impatient behavior. You can be stubborn. I think I am optimistic, and always look for the best in everything.
I like to answer questions, in class, quickly, and listen to others answers too. I love to also tutor, that is why I work at the study tables in the common room.
I am very patient...but stubborn?
Everything here seems accurate, but I don't think I'm very stubborn. Looking at what she wrote, it seems right, but I guess everything can't be exact.
Looking up when she hears a voice ask about how many 0's in a gagillion. What? | |

| Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict Elizabeth quickly scanned the textbook for her Capstone. Last letter of my first name. So H, she thought. Then, as she located it in the book, she wrote it down in her journal. Quote:
H: You are creative and original. You make and lose money easily. However, you will probably do well financially in the long run. You are independent and you rely on your own judgment. You may be a loner. Skepticism and self-doubt are your greatest enemies. You need time in nature to feel your true self and re-establish your direction and clarity.
Then she glanced it over a few times, thinking about what it said, as compared to what she thought about herself, before scribbling more underneath the description. Quote:
Well, I can't say much about the money aspect, but I am fairly independent. I like my friends, and I can't do without them, but I don't need them to make my decisions for me or anything. And I definitely have had moments this term where I have doubted myself, and my worth.
As for my philosophy toward finishing things I start, I think it seems fairly accurate. I mean, if I say I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it. And I like being original, not copying whatever is already there for me.
Then she tapped her quill against her lower lip, rereading it all and trying to figure out if it made sense, before her attention was diverted by the Ancient Runes professor's entrance and question. O-kay, she thought. She wasn't even sure she knew what a gagillion was, let alone how many zeros it had.

Tobi found the letter S, it was right where it had always been in the alphabet, so it didn't give him much trouble. Quote:

Assessment:
I don't know about charming and charismatic. But I guess I'm devoted. I do what I say I'll do. My word is important. I didn't have a sad childhood, traumatic yes, weird crazy sisters picking on me all the time, but not sad. And I'm impulsive, I don't think before I act all the time, so the question of finishing what I start isn't often a question because it's often over as soon as it began. I could do well with doing as my capstone says and thinking about what I feel rather than just going ahead and letting my emotions tell me what to do- I approach everything with my heart and not with my head, and I do have a lot of ups and downs. Maybe that's why all my sisters were put into Ravenclaw and I wasn't.

Cale looked down at his textbook, trying to locate the letter B. Even though no one called him Caleb, that WAS his official name, no matter how atrocious it sounded to him. Quote:
B: You are emotional, sensitive, and a bit shy. You are friendly and understanding. Peace and harmony are essential to your happiness. You are sensitive. You are loyal and firm in your beliefs, often clinging to ideas after they have outlived their usefulness. You must learn to change more with the times and become more independent in thought.
Shy? That definitely wasn't him. He remembered his mum telling him stories how he had walked up to stranges in the market when she was doing her shopping and introducing himself to them when he was little. The emotional bit was true though, no matter how much he didn't want to admit it. He made a few notes on his parchment and continued to read his description when he heard someone pipe up from the back of the class.
Turning in his seat, his eyes widened as he saw Professor Lupa sitting in the back, asking how many 0's a gagillion had. Oh Merlin. Rolling his eyes at the nutty professor, he turned and focused his interest on Shackleton, wondering what her reaction would be. He remembered all too clearly her obvious annoyance at the whole Jack Mosier incident, and guessed that because of that, and her obvious allergies, she would be less than friendly with Lupa.

Finally, assess whether or not you think the inforbation accurately abblies to you. That is, does the inforbation abbly to your cabacity for and philosophy toward finishing projects that you start?" Anna glanced down at the information she'd recorded about her Cornerstone---the letter A. The problem with her name was that it began and ended with the same exact letter. Oddly enough, she didn't have to do any additional work for her Capstone. She reread the information on her parchment:
Cornerstone: A
Capstone: A Quote:
A: You are ambitious, independent and have great drive, you are not easily influenced. You are mental and direct. You want to take charge. You have willpower and are resolute and purposeful. You have courage and boldness but may also be stubborn and willful. Be more flexible and willing to listen to others.
Underneath the textbook's description, Anna recorded her thoughts about how the information applied to her:
Wow. This Cornerstone and Capstone information is surprisingly accurate. My family and friends tell me that although they truly don't believe I tend to be bossy towards others, I am. I guess I do sort of jump into situations and try and take charge. I can't help it if I do, though. I tend to set really high goals for myself and stress myself out until I accomplish all of them. I guess you could say this is sort of a downfall of mine, though. I really should learn to relax a bit more. The independent part is true, too. I tend to enjoy accomplishing goals through the peacefulness and quietness of working alone. I can organize my thoughts better that way. My family and friends try to assist me and give me their ideas, as well, but I'm usually bound and determined to go with my own gut instinct. Maybe I should be more open to their ideas, too. Perhaps I wouldn't stress myself out so much. "Professor," Anna said, raising her hand. "My Cornerstone and Capstone is the same letter. Do I need to do any different, or do I just apply the same information?"
Hearing the sound of another question being asked, Anna raised her hand and said, "The Growth Number, or key, tells us how to continue growing as we progress through our life path. It also pinpoints areas that will assist us in discovering our own true nature. We relate the Growth Number to the Life Path Number."

But onto the growth number now.
"The growth number reveals ... well, how we'll grown really. How we're gonna change througout our life.." Evangeline answered, raising her hand. "And we evaluate it with the Life Path number." Yup, yup. That made sense. Quote:

Cornerstone: A
Capstone: A
Underneath the textbook's description, Anna recorded her thoughts about how the information applied to her:
Do I need to do any different, or do I just apply the same information?" "You would abbly the inforbation differently. The Cornerstone describes your abbroach to obstacles and obbortunities, while the Capstone describes how you finish projects you start. You need to keep those in mind when interbreting the inforbation." Quote:

She kept trying to stop laughing at the pretty and very proper professor. "Ok, so... what if it wasn't fictional? How many 0's then? Oh and how many in a bazillion?" Professor Shackleton's eyes narrowed slightly. She didn't tolerate students disrupting her classroom with chattiness and laughter, and she didn't much appreciate a professor doing the same. But it wasn't as if she could reprimand a professor in front of other students. That would be rather disrespectful, and despite Lupa's lack of respect for Mac's authority in her own classroom, Mac wasn't going to stoop to the same level.
Trying to appear as if she was appreciating the humor and in good spirits, she replied smartly, "If it wasn't fictional, then I subbose we'd just let you choose how bany zeros. So you tell us. Same goes for a bazillion. Enlighten us." Standing with her hands on her hips, Macadrian gave Lupa a look that said, 'What in Merlin's beard are you doing disrupting my class without my permission?'

Beaming at her favorite professor, she murmurs "thank you" thrilled at getting 3 points for her answer.
She watches and listens intently at how the professor, answers Professor Lupa's odd questions.
