As you step through the Arithmancy classroom doors, the wooden desks and chairs have been arranged into the shapes of numbers, specifically a three and a seven. Professor Shackleton has provided a number of cushions in a myriad of colors and textures that are stacked by the door for you to choose from to match your comfort and liking.

Professor Shackleton sits behind her desk, sipping from a cup of tea with a box of tissues on the desk beside her. Her eyes appear a bit pink and glassy and her nose is red. She sneezes rather petitely in a high pitch, before blowing her nose and tossing the tissue in the trash can. Popping a cough drop into her mouth, Professor Shackleton greets you with a wave to conserve her already weakening voice.

OOC: This lesson is for fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh years ONLY. Any students in first, second, or third year who post in this thread will be dismissed.

Oh. That was easy!! "It's the first letter of your given name at birth! Mine is E" Evangeline said brightly, with her hand raised on the air.

She spoke to the class, "I'd like you all to deterbine your Cornerstone, then write down what inforbation the textbook provides about that letter. Finally, assess whether or not you think the inforbation accurately abblies to you. That is, does the inforbation abbly to how you approach obstacles and obbortunities in life?"

"Right you are, Ma'am!" Clifford said brightly, nodding at Miss Shackleton before leaning over his parchment. They had to figure out their Cornerstone, write the information from the textbook and see if it applied to them. Okie dokie.

Miles groaned, and wondered that even if she didn't really acknowledge that he was answering, he was still gaining points. Because if not, what was the point? He lazily flicked through the pages of his textbook to find the letter M, and read;

Nodding at what the professor said. Taking her parchment and quill, and looking at the textbook, she writes down.

Tobi ran his finger down his textbook until he came to the letter T. Wow that's pretty close, he thought.

Okay, that's mostly fair. I'm a busy person. And slowing down is hard. I like taking on more projects, I like making new friends, and I am competitive about things like grades, Quidditch, and especially protecting my friends. I don't know if I would say I get hurt quickly, but I take offence on people's behalf pretty quick. I was hopping mad when Barry referred to Aggie as an inanimate object and we don't even need to talk about all the problems I've had with Kettleburn because of Cela.

I am NOT energetic. I'm probably the most laziest Slytheirn ever, and I'm not a workaholic, because I try and make sure I avoid all work, ESPECIALLY domestic work. And forget being more patient, if I was more patient, I'd be DEAD!

Hmpf. How wrong was his personality. Maybe his name shouldn't have been Miles.

Oooooooooh. The interpretation part! It was always funny to see how the numbers applied to her ... and usually they applied pretty well. Hmm. Flipping the pages of her textbook till the right page, Evangeline picked up her quill and wrote what it said about letter 'E' down.

You are highly perceptive and not easily fooled. You are original and versatile. You are capable of looking at a situation from different perspectives.

What?

"Marry more than once?" Evangeline read that bit of information out loud and blinked, looking confused. "I like to be social and entertain.." Except for the different perspectives part .. it was all sorta wrong! "Gosh, I think my parents totally named me wrong.." Hmmm.

That's a bit greedy isn't it?" He asked playfully, giving her arm a nudge before turning back to the front of the classroom.

Tobi coughed really really hard. It was the only way he could cover his laugh, and he didn't want to laugh at them, it would have been rude, but it was kind of funny.... the Slytherin power couple were having a tough year.

Evangeline was still sulking over the fact she needed to get a new name when she loved hers so, when Clifford leaned closer. Aaaaaah! Trust him to tease her in this moment! Hmm. Maybe she could start being called Louise?

EWWW! No way. Louise was good for a second name - only.

She crinkled her nose at his words and shook her head. Greedy. Pfft. Evangeli -- she was not greedy. "I must just like the free food.." She whispered back at him, falling into silence right afterwards.

She might have to have a name change, but she still feared losing points more than Peeves feared the Bloody Baron.

Professor Shackleton walked around the room, inspecting the parchments of all the students following her directions. She explained, "Everywub who I observed deterbinigg their Cornerstone will receeb one boint for their effort. And now let's bove on to the Capstone. How do we find the Capstone?"

Professor Shackleton blew her nose rather loudly before tossing the tissue and turning her attention back to the students. "What does the Capstone tell us about ourselves and others?" While she awaited their answers, she shuffled back to her desk to pop another cough drop in her mouth.

Evangeline raised her hand once more, not one to let her disappointment with her name let her miss the change of winning house points. What did Capstones tell us? That we will marry more than once, that's what they tell us! Ahem. "They tell us our capacity of finishing projects we've started..."

Clearly, she had none.

Elizabeth sat quietly, scribbling down notes. It was taking most of her concentration to listen to the professor, and by the time she figured out the questions, they were already answered. So she figured she would just wait for another chance.
