How hard could it be to find a box of rags? Considering the mess in this broomshed? Pretty difficult. Eh. Stumbling over a few broomsticks, Clifford rummaged around in search of the hidden crate. "I think -- I may have found something over here." He called, searching under a pile of dirty Quidditch robes. |
"Cale, set the box you found on the table," Vindictus said as he used a cleaning charm to scrub down the work table. "Good work, Clifford! Put those used robes on the floor by the broomsticks - we're going to tear them into polishing rags." He looked around. "Somewhere are the buckets and bottles of cleaning solution. And polish." |

Fred who had kept it quiet was feeling a bit uneasy but this class. The only reason why he was there is because he wanted to earn points for his house or he would have skip it. Walking around to see if he could find the buckets, the cleanings solution and the polish. It didn't take him that long for him to spot them. Grabbing as much buckets as he could, he carried them back toward the professor. He wasn't sure he was suppose to put them, so he put them next to the working table. |
"Okie Dokie." Clifford grinned, heaving the pile of stinky robes over to where the old school broomsticks were. It seemed wrong to tear them up, but hey, it was for a good cause! Was that everything now? |
Nigel stood there watching quietly, finally glad that there were girls there. He was getting bored of seeing only boys around the school. School. How could anybody call it a school. He looked back up and continued watching the proffessor. |
"Good work, boys," Vindictus said and actually smiled for the first time since entering his Broomshed that day. "Now, today we're going to work on some neglected brooms. Grab one from the pile and set it on the table. You'll also need one old robe." Most of the boys in the room had already attended this lesson, so it was going to be a nice change to be able to simply tell them to go to work and see what they remembered. Plus, it would give him a chance to talk Quidditch and other things with them. Sometimes, having no girls in a lesson was a blessing. Quote:
OOC: There are no girls in this lesson. If there are, I will take away points. |
The one thing that Fred was relieved about is that they weren't going to fly today. This was lucky but they were no way he was going to get someone get on those things and leave the safe ground to be flotting in the air. Grabbing one of the broom that seems to be damaged. Shaking his head thinking that those who were there before could have been more careful, he walks back toward table making sure to make a quick stop to get himself an old robe. Strange enought he could hear a voice in his head nagging him about not getting himself in trouble. If only Lexis would have been allowed to be here, it would have been easier for him. Praying that the professor wouldn't change is mind about flying, he was ready to start. |
Cale placed his broom over his shoulder and grabbed himself an old robe. He was glad they weren't allowed to bring their own brooms. His was in perfect condition, because he had been bringing it down all the time to polish, hoping Anna would be there when he came down. He sat down again, waiting for the professor to continue. |
"Do any of you remember how to clean the tail twigs?" Vindictus asked as the boys assembled around the table with a broomstick and an old Quidditch robe. |
"Well, shouldn't you use some clippers to trim and neaten the crooked twigs, Sir?" Clifford asked, raising a hand. "They need to be clipped to get aerodynamic perfection." |
Fred was totally in the blank for that answer. The only used he had for brooms was cleaning things which he rarely did. Not wanted to say anything but at least making a tried, he raised his hand: "The clippers will come handy in order to trim crooked tail twigs." He was almost sure he was totally wrong about that but he couldn't be blame for not trying. |

"That's right, Clifford. But before you do any trimming of the tail twigs, how do you clean them without making a complete mess of things?" Vindictus asked and hoped that someone remembered. |
Cale blinked. He had never cleaned the actual twigs on his broom, mainly just the handle, with some trimming here and there, like Clifford had said. "Is that what the cleaning solution is for?" he asked, raising his hand. He knew it wasn't the polish--that was for the handle. |
Oh gosh. How could he have forgotten something so important? Lack of Quidditch and flying had obviously gone to his head and Clifford wrinkled his nose as he raised his hand once more. "Do you take the time to clean each individual twig? It would probably take a while.. but it would preserve the twigs from water damage." He finished with a shrug. |

The buckets were haphazardly stacked in a corner covered in dust and cobwebs. |
Cale did as the professor told them, grabbing a bucket and the bottle of cleaning solution. Noticing that the bucket was covered in dust and grime, he wiped a few of the cobwebs off and blew on the bucket to get the dust off. |
Clifford had flew into a tree before.. that probably meant he needed to pay more attention to his tail twigs. He'd get this old school broomstick neatened up first though.. it looked like it needed more attention. And so, grabbing himself one of the dusty old buckets from the corner and a bottle of the cleaning solution, he waited for further instructions. |

Fred didn't move at first but since they had to do it, he stand up in order to get a bucket and a cleaning solution. Obviously the Broomshed hadn't be clean in a while since the bucket was rather dirty which wouldn't help much if they wanted to clean their or more appropriate the school brooms. Grabbing a bottle of cleaning solution, he walks back toward where he had let his broom. Taking his time to take out as much dust and cobwebs as he could, he was making sure that at least the inside of the bucket was clean. The only thing that he needed is more instruction from Professor Vindictus. |
"We're going to use Aguamenti to fill the buckets halfway with water. Get out your wands and place them over your bucket," he said and had his own wand at the ready. "I know it's a sixth year spell, but it comes in mighty useful for broomcare. Using this spell can be tricky since you can't wave your wand around. Do that and the entire room will be soaking wet, and I'm sure none of you want to deal with cleaning up mud." Vindictus grinned. "Don't say the incantation until I say so." OOC: If your character is not a sixth year, then I expect you not to be able to do this spell. Yes, you can try but nothing should happen (perhaps a spider scurries out of the bucket or something - be creative). |
Cale looked around. Were there even any sixth years in there? He didn't think so. Looking down at his bucket, he wondered how they would be able to fill the bucket without that spell. Unless the professor did it for them. |
Aguamenti? Clifford still had trouble casting a simple levitation spell, there was no way on this planet be able to fill the bucket up halfway with water! Nuh uh. He was going to have to try though.. how embarrassing would it be asking someone else to do it for him? Very. Drawing his wand, Clifford held it steadily over his bucket. "I'm sorry in advance if I soak you all." He mumbled nervously, waiting for Vindictus' say so. |
Fred blinked a few time. They were suppose to used the agua... aqua... thingy spell, whatever it was call. Personally, he didn't remember hearing about something like that. Doubting he would be able to cast it since it wasn't even his level (which was hard for him to admit). Waiting for the professor to say something else, he kept repeating himself of not causing any trouble that would lead to disaster. |
