Once he had helped the boy up, he filled his bucket, then followed the professor's instructions and began to stir his broom. Whoa, this could make you dizzy. He stirred a little faster, since he knew he was a bit behind the others. Ouch. His arms were starting to hurt. |
Trying to stand up so he could walks toward the door, it seems that from his prospective everything was moving and his stomach were making some strange sound too. It took him a while to get the hold of the door and to fall outside. He didn't feel like arguing and the faster he could get some fresh air the better it would be, or at least he was hoping that it would be the case. |

Now Vindictus had it. A girl was in his Broomshed during a lesson. "Five points from Hufflepuff for disrupting a lesson," he said and shook his head. "Make that a lesson for boys only. You have thirty seconds to leave the shed before I take off more points and report you to Professor Rae-Branxton for disobedience." Oh, how he hated the new Ministry rules . . . . |
GASP! Was that a girl he heard? He was just about to begin polishing at the handle, when Clifford spun around. It was either a girl.. or a guy with a very squeaky voice. It was probably best to let the Professor handle it, and watching the poor pukey Gryffindor stumble out for fresh air, Clifford proceeded rub handle cleaner into the handle of the broomstick. |
Cale blinked when he realized that there was still a girl in here. Uh oh, she better get out, especially with the bad mood Vindictus was in today. He felt sorry for her--the Ministry was making things so difficult at the schools. Stupid Ministry. He continued to stir, and could feel his head pounding a little. Ok, look at something else. He lifted his head and let his eyes wander around the dingy broomshed. Ehh, that wasn't too interesting. And his arms were about to fall off. He checked his watch. 10 more minutes of this and he could stop. |

Vindictus now looked at the Hufflepuff boy. "Since you clearly are not participating in this class either, five points from Hufflepuff," he said sternly and went back to wraping an old Quidditch robe around the tail twigs of the broom Fred was cleaning. "Cale, I think you can take that broom out of the bucket now." As he said those words, he could hear Fred outside. |
Cale nodded and removed his broom. Had it already been 20 minutes? He hadn't realized. Taking the robes, he wrapped the twigs and then grabbed a bottle of polish and began to rub down the handle. |
Poor Hufflepuff. Heaving a deep breath, and swinging his rag around, he began whistling a random tune to himself. Whistle while you work. Hehe. |
Whiping his mouth as he was coming back inside, his walking had improve a bit but still it wasn't his ordinary way to stand. It was clear that the boy had been sick outside. Trying to keep a calm exterior but still feeling a bit uneasy, he at least didn't feel any stomach pain nor the need to run back outside. "I think I can continue the cleaning, professor..." |
"Good, good," Vindictus said as he walked around the table. "When you finish cleaning the handle, then you need to apply the handle polish. Apply three coats and make sure you gently buff off the paste between coats." OCC: Keep on cleaning brooms. For those who join the lesson in the next few hours, pretend that your character has been here the entire time. Read my posts so you know what to do. Can you leave the lesson? No. If you have your character leave before the lesson ends, points will be taken away. Is the lesson finished? Not yet. There is more to come. :shifty: |
Arg, this was a lot of hard work! Sighing, he took the polish and applied some more to his handle, just like Vindictus had said. He rubbed it again, then checked the twigs to see if they were dry. Not yet. He continued to buff the handle, making sure he followed all the instructions so that he didn't damage the broom. |
Clifford gave pukey Gryffindor a polite nod when he reentered the broomshed. Poor kid. He'd obviously just puked his guts up.. niiiiiiiice. Not. Still whistling, he grabbed one of the rags and gently began buffing the broomstick handle, rubbing off the first layer of polish he had applied. One down. Two to go. |

Maddox jumped up to his feet and said, "Im so sorry professor, i will get busy rght away." Maddox grabbed his broom, and sat it it down so he could get his bucket filled. He sat it down, filled it half full of water and poured two capfuls of cleaning solution to the bucket, and screwed the lid ack on tightly. He took broom and slowly put it into the bucket until the tail twigs were in the cleaner. He slowly stired the broomstick clockwise twenty times. He stoped and held the broom upright until the swirling solution stoped swirling. Then he stired the broom counterclockwise twenty times, according to the professors instructions. After he was finished with that, he grabbed a set of old quidditch robes and wrapped them around the twigs of his broom just tight enough to make it stay on with out breaking them. Like the professor said, he grabbed a container of handle cleaner and begin rubbing it on the handle of his broom. He let it set for 10 minutes, buffed it off and rubbed more handle cleaner on it. Then let is set again for 10 minutes and buffed it off. Maddox then grabbed the handle polish. He applied a coat, let it set and buffed it off. Then he applied the second coat, let it set and buffed it off. Then he applied the final coat, let it set and buffed it off. After he was finished, he sat quietly waiting for futher instruction. He couldnt believe he had just lost 5 points for not participating in the class, he didnt even know it was going on. it was a good thing he did all this for his broom once a week otherwise it would be harder. |
Cale rubbed down the handle of his broom once more. This seemed like a lot of hard work for a broomstick. Oh well, his was in pretty bad shape--this one had obviously not been used for some time. He checked the twigs again, only to find that they still weren't completely dry. |
Clifford had just began rubbing in his final layer of handle polish when he heard a girly voice again. Ack. What was it with these girls? Could they not see there was a lesson going on in here? Glancing between Professor Vindictus and the Gryffindor girl, Clifford cleared his throat, unsure of what to do. |
With a small shake of his head, and roll of the eyes, Clifford watched the girl run out. Had Vindictus even got a chance to catch her? He wouldn't put it past the Professor to have eyes in the back of his head. Teachers were just scary like that. They knew everything! After waiting for the polish to set, he slowly and carefully began buffing it off, making sure he did a perfect job. Broomsticks were the bestest, they deserved special treatment. |
The Gryffindor girl had trampled on the broomsticks lying on the floor and Vindictus was shaking violently as he tried to control his rage. It took him fifteen minutes to calm down becase if he went after her, he would have used the Body Bind spell on her and carried her like a sack of potatoes to Belle's School where he would have dropped her in Rae's doorway (and in return, he'd get the sack - he had a family to tend to now). Still smarting, he looked at the boys who actually took the time out of their day to attend his lesson - a lesson that was about to get interesting. "Brooms look good boys - each of you need to clean four more and then we're gonna get 'em ready for the girls school." There was a mischevious glint in his eyes. |
Curt continued to polish the shaft of the broom, and his hands were quickly becoming numb. He did this every day at his house, being as Quidditch and flying obsessed as he was. Curt laughed as the girl ran in and out and had to resist further laughter as he watched Vindictus just standing there, absolutely fuming. Curt smiled to himself and finished off the tip top of the broom and set it aside from the rest of the clean ones. "The girls better well enjoy the clean brooms." Curt said to no one in particular, turning around while grabbing another broom. Unfortunately, it looked like rats had gotten ahold of this one. The very middle was knawed all the way through, and looked just about one tiny tug away from breaking in two. "Safe to say this one's kicked the bucket Professor." Curt said, offering the broom to Vindictus to have him check it out. |
Polish in hand, Shel worked on the brooms, taking care to follow the instructions they had been given. It was not particularly hard work, and Shel felt used to it - no, his mother did not make him wash 54302921298576 dishes everyday - chiefly because of all the similar work he had voluntarily done for various goody goody places, back at his hometown. He picked up another broomstick, inspecting it with interest. It smelled of rotting wood and already rotten polish, but he could not say he did not like the smell - scent, for him, actually. He loved the smell of decayed wood, for some reason. There was also a certain scent of wet mud about this broomstick, and Shel admired it, too. He worked happily, not at all bothered by all this work. |
Vindictus looked at the broom and smirked. He had an idea. "I can fix that," he said and went into the back of the shed with the broom. He returned a few minutes later - the handle had been repaired with a special handle repair putty and he returned the broom to Curt. "Add a few coats of polish to it before I put the charms back on." |
Ah, broomsticks. Well, this one was done and - courtesy all the amount of hard work Shel had put into its 'revival' - it looked quite a nice, clean, decent broomstick now. Not like something the Giant Squid had chosen for dinner, but refused, a little too politely, after two bites. What are you thinking, Ambrose? Oh yeah. What was he thinking? Shel blinked, shaking his head to clear his rather insane thoughts. He placed the broomstick in an upright position, inspecting it closely to see if it needed another coat of polish. Nope. It seemed in quite, quite good shape, now. With an inward nod of approval, he moved on to another broomstick, deeply inhaling its scent. BIG mistake. Next second, he was coughing all over the broomshed. Oh yes, he liked the scent of rotting wood and heavy, heavy dust encapsulating it. But he did not like the scent of what seemed like a mixture of wet cement and spoiled eggs. He clutched at his throat, trying to get a control on his coughing. Too late, it seemed. The broomstick fell from his hands, ready to clatter to the floor. Shel bent down with speed enough to outshine a furious, unhappy tiger, and caught it before it came in contact with the ground and made a noise. No sound! Thank God, he thought inwardly. "Silly broom," he mumbled, wanting to tap it with his wand so that the annoying odour could go away. His sudden fit of coughing had subsided now and he was ready to work on the broomstick, albeit a wee bit reluctantly. |
Nodding back toward the Slytherin boy, he could feel that he was getting back to his natural color. His head where getting clearer and nothing was turning around him which was a good sign. Grabbing back the broom, he started to cleaned to handle carefully trying not to forget any little spot. He was sure that if Lexis could be there she would be laughing at him but at this point he was trying to concentrate on what he was doing. It took him a bit of time before finishing. Now was the polishing part, applying the product one and gently (but not that gentle) polishing it. Keeping in mind that he had to do it two other time, he was starting to wonder what was going to happen after they had finish. It's not that he was nervous to find out but ... |
Curt's eyebrows perked up as Vindictus claimed he could fix it. Curt nodded and handed it up to the past Quidditch Professional. If anyone knew what they were doing, it was him of course. Curt sat there silently while Vindictus was working his magic. He stared at the dirty interior of the broomshed, it was actually quite cozy in here. Maybe it was just the presence of broomsticks, who knows? Vindictus came back with the broom and Curt took it from him to clean it, "Oh, good stuff." Curt said, forgetting about the putty. He read about it in an ad of a Quidditch magazine... his lifeline. Curt simply nodded as Vindictus told him to add alot more coats, great. Curt went through the first coat pretty easily, the second one too. About mid way through the third one though, Curt had to stop and set the broom on his lap and rest. He stretched his fingers and popped his knuckles. As he did so, he watched as the older Gryffindor, he knew as Sheldon? Maybe Shel, have a little commotion with his broom. Curt grinning and went back to work on his broom's cleanliness. Which of course, brought back the strange memories of Lord Borrs class, even this smelly broomshed smells better than that place. Several moments went by and Curt finally finished his last coated, and looked back up to Vindictus with a nod. "Good to go Sir." he said, offering the broom once again... ready to get on with the lesson. He was so tired of cleaning. |
