| | | Divination One Professor St. Toussaint opened up the doors to her classroom with no particular vigour.
"Come on, ladies, class time! Let's go! Let's go! Let's go! Sometime today would be nice!", she piped out commandingly in a voice that only Betty Boop would envy. She took her wand and stood behind her desk as she waited for the class to fill. |

Tommy glanced over at Cassandra then back at Anna, well she shouldn't have said that, she thought to herself.
She raised her hand "Also muggle doctors have done studies that suggest that left handed people live longer. The Chinese palmist were the first to suggest that fact though."
OOC: 1 point!

Hogwarts RPG Name: Scarlett Lillian Travers Fifth Year | Unicorn Magic Rawr-er Gem's hand inched up once more as she tried to pull up the text she had been reading. Staring at one of her hands unwaveringly, she traced the complex, weaving lines with wide eyes. "Hm. Well. I'm right handed. So, Professor, wouldn't my left hand indicate my inherited personality and fulfillment of potential?" That sounded about right... She wondered what her hands would say about her. She'd never looked at them as anything but, well, hands before. Sometimes, they were potential friends when topped with finger puppets. But usually she didn't think twice as she grabbed things with them, clapped them together, clasped them, performed teetering handstands.... She was snapped out of her thoughts at Cassandra, and she turned, giggling, to the hostile Slytherin. "That's nice. Pablo Picasso was left handed, too!" Trilled Gemma, her grin only stretching wider. Not wanting to look rude for chattering, she turned her attention back to the topic at hand. At hand. She thought, with a bellish laugh.

Krissy took notes as fast as she could. Her mother was a seer, but never really explained any of the skills that went along with it. Her hand was hurting, but you couldn't tell by her tiny perfect penmanship.

Professor St. Toussaint began to stroll the classroom, scoping out for the brightest of the bunch, her wand twitching behind her as she flicked it a bit, playing with its' bumpy texture. Quote:

Anna raised her hand and then replied with, "Palmistry or Palm Reading, as well as Cheirology, Chirology, or Kirology. It has two variations of spelling, and those are Chiromancy and Kiromancy. Cheirology is included, but that's really the study of the lines of the palm without any divination involved."

Usagi quickly took notes of what her classmates have said. "My determination is set: to earn more points for us Gryffies."She wrote on the front page of her notebook using a brilliant shade of silver ink - thanks to her colour-changing ink bottle.

Jade raised her hand and brightly added, "It is called palmistry or hand analasys, though is inclusive of both chirognomy, study of the bumps and shapes of the hands, and chirosophy, which is the actual divining of the meanings within the hand."

Hogwarts RPG Name: Scarlett Lillian Travers Fifth Year | Unicorn Magic Rawr-er Gem could feel herself bubble over with excitement. She remembered correctly. It was too easy to forget things in her all-consuming abyss of a mind, though facts and schoolwork usually was easy enough to stay imprinted. She nodded complacently at Toussain'ts request, and she did have a few questions. At the next inquiry, her hand shot up once more. "Chiro... Chiro... Chirognomy," she chirped with another bright smile, slightly tripping over the world. It was a mouthful.

"In general, we study the hand, but as your fellow classmate has pointed out, there are many different aspects to studying the hand. The palm itself is one thing, but also the nails and the fingers." She held up her hands palms out to give a visual.
"What are the basic shapes of the fingers that we study in Cheiromancy?" |

Krissy raised her hand again and spouted off something she had read in one of her Mother's old books. "Professor I believe `tis something like this, each shape represents an element.
Earth hands are usually identified by broad, square palms and fingers, thick or coarse skin, and ruddy color. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually equal to the length of the fingers.
Air hands have square or rectangular palms with long fingers and sometimes protruding knuckles, low-set thumbs, and dry skin. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually less than the length of the fingers.
Water hands are recognizable by the long, sometimes oval-shaped palm, with long, flexible, conical fingers. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually less than the width across the widest part of the palm, and usually equal to the length of the fingers.
Fire hands have a square or rectangular palm, flushed or pink skin, and shorter fingers. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually greater than the length of the fingers." Krissy let out a deep breath after spouting off that long explanation. She hoped she didn't sound like too much of a know it all. she just had a really good memory

Jade raised her hand and said, "There are four general shapes, each designated to a elemental symbol, earth, air, water and fire. Earth-shaped fingers are more squareish, air-shaped are longer, sometimes with bulging knuckles or low-set thumbs, water-shapes are also long, but more flexible and conically shaped, and fire hands have shorter fingers, sometimes with flushed or pinkish skin. There are also twelve different types of fingernails, each associated with a different zodiac sign.

Hogwarts RPG Name: November {Noe} Franze First Year | Brain Twin | MASTAH ASHURRII | Reisdent PokeNerd | Digifangirl "Fingers give into hand shape," Issy explained as she raised her hand. "They are then split into four different types - those of the different elements, in moderm palmistry. Water hands, earth hands, air, and fire hands.
Earth hands are characterized by broad, square palms and fingers. The length of the palm to the wrist is typically equal to the length of the fingers.
Air hands are square or rectangular palms also, with long fingers and sometimes knuckles that protrude out as well as low set thumbs. The length of the palm to the wrist tends to be shorter than the length of these fingers.
Water hands are long and sometimes oval shaped with long, flexible fingers. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually less than the width across the widest part of the palm, and usually equal to the length of the fingers.
Last, we have fire hands, which are distinguished by square or rectangular palms and short fingers.
The finger lengths and in a sense, shape, determine the type of hand you have, which determine temperments."
She small girl took a breath and leant back in her chair, grabbing her quill. |
