"Come on, ladies, class time! Let's go! Let's go! Let's go! Sometime today would be nice!", she piped out commandingly in a voice that only Betty Boop would envy. She took her wand and stood behind her desk as she waited for the class to fill. |

"While that is true," the twelve year old replied, "Professor St. Toussaint is talking about the over all accepted chiromancy. She was even more confused about why the other girl was trying to make her own answers seem as though they were irrelevant. She shrugged and waited for the teacher to respond.

However, we are in the UK, in a class that is merely a skimming intro and I highly doubt that the focus would be on the thumbs of Asian divination, therefore, please, let's end this before it becomes a problem."

| Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict Rhiannon had spent the entire class so far taking notes on what everyone else had said. It wasn't so much a matter of her not knowing the answers, she just felt like being quiet. But she was glad that some Ravenclaws were managing to answer, and get points.
During a lull between answers, she started sketching her hand on a piece of parchment. She was putting a lot of detail into it, making sure she included every line. If it came to it, she thought she could use it as a diagram, depending on what all they ended up discussing in class.

Usagi raised her hand and begin talking. "Professor, I agree with Anna. However, I think I may be able to add some information into her answer.
Heavy fingers show a physical nature. Long and slim signifies more of an emotional and aggressive type of person.
Short and thick shows that the person is very emotionally comfortable.
If their index finger is longer than the normal length, they tend to be a leader and tell others what to do. If it is shorter however, then they tend to sit back and let others control them.
If their ring finger is longer than the normal height, they may tend to have an artistic talent, as well as a reckless and wild nature.
If their little finger is shorter than the normal length, it shows that they lack the ability to influence others. If it is longer, then they tend to be very articulate, and good at writing and selling.
People with tapered, almost pointed-like fingers are cautious, intelligent and flexible. They are conversationalists and their work involves them interacting with other people.
They are interested in Spiritualism and have an interest in anything new, modern and revolutionary.
People with conical fingers are sensitive types. They take great care about how they look. They think quickly and have firm convictions. They must be careful however to not let their emotions run away.
People who have square fingers are business minded, rational, practical and down-to-earth. They are also conventional liking to stick to the norm.
Realistic people often have spatulate fingers. They like the outdoor life and go for the adventure in life. Although travellers, they value work and regard it as important.
People with straight fingers are honest, sometimes too much so. They are diligent and energetic. They are great thinkers and often do well in life.
People with knotty fingers are extremely practical and great planners. So much so that spontaneity is a rare word to them. Their straight forward approach to life means they tend to be careful characters in all apsects of their life."
She threw her deadly glare at Jade, which can also be translated as "You-do-not-want-to-lose-points-for-arguing-do-you?"

Jade was sincerely confused at why everyone seemed to be upset with her, but she nodded at Anna. She'd only been trying to be helpful and offer a little more information that she'd picked up from the reading, but everyone seemed to be competing, and viciously at that. Nevertheless, she did as she was asked and resigned herself to taking notes instead.

| The REAL Sorting Hat: "Ravenclaw!" This monkey is bananas. Ari resisted a shudder and looked around wearily for someone she knew. She was sitting beside Issy and grinned at her, sharing a special brigade moment before looking on in frustration. "Ugh." she muttered to herself, looking down at her notes where two eyes were staring back at her. Oh great she had drawn his eyes again instead of writing notes. She had to stop thinking about him and his blue eyes with the gold tinge and the quirking smile...
Perfect.
Wishing she had an eraser, she sighed and pulled out a new sheet, writing the notes this time. She slouched down in her chair, being reminded about how dumb she felt at that moment. Blaylock never let her know she was dumb. No, she was always going on about how bright and special Ari was.
She missed her.

Yes, it was quite a lovely thumb indeed, but it wouldn't be much if the four of her fingers weren't there to keep Ms. Thumb company. But then, Divination probably didn't take the thumbs emotions into account whilst divining. Poor thumbs. Don't worry, thumbies. My fingers will stay intact for you, she mostly thought to herself, but half to her thumbs. The Ravenclawh glanced up at Jade's comment, and her brows furrowed at once. "B-b-b-but they eat duckheads in China," she whispered quietly, though loud enough to carry to both Issy and Jade. Her eyes glazed over with suppressed tears. She adored animals, and ducks made that lovely quacking noise.... She thought China was entirely interesting in every other aspect, the culture and the people, but the ducks... She couldn't help but reach out to those waterfowl in need.

Jade looked round at the Ravenclaw's comment and had to fight to resist the snort of laughter that bubbled up. She did, however, allow a silly grin to rest on her face, though she made no comment or noise. She didn't want people mad or shushing at her or even trying to sabatoge her well-remembered answers anymore.

Kaika was getting a bit tired from all the looks and answers for the discussion the Gryffindor and the Ravenclaw had before, but was glad to see that it was turning a little quiet on the Gryffindor girl side. She sighed, she truly missed her old classes.
She was done taking notes and got out an old book that contained some information about Cheiromancy, to check on what it said.

Air hands are square or rectangular palms also, with long fingers and sometimes knuckles that protrude out as well as low set thumbs. The length of the palm to the wrist tends to be shorter than the length of these fingers.
Water hands are long and sometimes oval shaped with long, flexible fingers. The length of the palm from wrist to the bottom of the fingers is usually less than the width across the widest part of the palm, and usually equal to the length of the fingers.

Pointed-shaped fingers often have almond shaped nails; cone-shaped fingers will have oval nail; square fingers have square nails; spade-shaped fingers should have square-based nails which broaden at the tip."
Cassandra was determined to outshine Anna know... was she trying to be the knew Xana Venefica? "Finger reading doesn't only depend on shape... it is read on four characteristics. The shape, of course, but also the length, the smoothness, and the space between fingers."
"The length of your fingers are relative to the size of your palm. On average, the longest finger is about seven-eighths the size of your palm, and if it is just as long s your Palm, then your fingers are considered long. Short fingers are shorter than seven-eighths of the palm. In relation to the fingers, the thumb is normally higher than the bottom joining of the index finger. The index finger, however, reaches a third of the way up the nail of the middle finger. The ring finger normally reaches just above the nail of the middle finger and the little, or pinkie, finger should reach the top joint of the ring finger."
"The smoothness of knottiness of the fingers and their joints is a good indication of which area of life a person would most likely be active in. It also deals with the instinctive, practical, and intellectual attainment in regards to the fields which each finger represents. The middle finger deals with service (goals, restrictions). The index finger deals with authority (position, wealth, happiness). The ring finger deals with fulfillment (fame, success). Finally, the little finger deals with activity (health, mind, commercial ventures). Characteristics of finger smoothness, if your joints are generally smooth, then you may tend to be passive, letting other control you, but at the same time quite impulsive which may sometimes lead to carelessness."
"Finally, it is also important to note the way fingers are spaced apart. With your hand in a relaxed position, examine how some fingers stand apart from others and how some stick close to the adjacent fingers. "
"An independent mind is signified when your little finger stands apart from the ring finger, with a great deal of space between them. An art related life is shown when the ring finger sticks close to the middle finger. Your fate will also aid in your success. If your middle finger and the index finger stick close together, it shows that you will gain authority and rank through your own goals and dreams. If they stand apart, then your position will come from other means." "Very, VERY good, Prefect! 5 points." Quote: Quote:

"Okay, ladies, answer me this; What planets are associated with which fingers? Extra points for she who can name the area just below the thumb next to the life line." She lifted herself onto her desk and took a seat there. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: November {Noe} Franze First Year | Brain Twin | MASTAH ASHURRII | Reisdent PokeNerd | Digifangirl Raising her hand, Issy beamed. She'd found this answer earlier. Reading out loud from the book, she replied: Quote:
Jupiter finger: Leadership, Self Esteem, The Teacher, Organization, Punctuality, The Limelight. A strong determined person will always have a long Jupiter finger, as do teachers, and performers.
Saturn Finger: Destiny, The Corporate World, Karma Long finger: Lots of karma to work out. Section closest to palm: Your family Section in the middle: Business world Section near the tip of the finger, your spiritual path
Apollo Finger: Creative, Metaphysical, Health If it points to the Saturn finger: Your have karma in the metaphysical realms.
Mercury Finger: Communications: Writing, Computers, Media Much can be gleamed in this area with a palm print as so many people are in the communication fields now. A short finger: does not go up as high as the third section on your Apollo finger: Not great with writing, but will overcome this by working with others. It the Mercury finger bends in: You hold back what you need to say!
Venus finger: How stubborn / or giving you are. It can be straight (stubborn) ---or bent (subtle)--the giver. Please check both hands as they may be different. "Alas, I'm not sure of the space beneath the thumb..." she mumbled, searching the book frantically.
"Jupiter is the index finger, Saturn the middle, Sun the ring and Mercury the pinky. Right? Venus is below the thumb?" |

Desdemonda raised a hand. "The area right below the thumb, Rhea, and next to the life line is called the mount of Venus, which is opposite the mount of Luna. The index finger is ruled by Jupiter, the middle finger is ruled by Saturn, the ring finger is ruled by Apollo and the little finger is ruled by Mercury."

Hogwarts RPG Name: Scarlett Lillian Travers Fifth Year | Unicorn Magic Rawr-er Gem's thoughts snapped away from ducks for the moment, and she stared intently down at her hand, before it went sailing up, each finger wiggling as she spoke. "My ickle finger is Mercury," she murmured, smiling fondly at the baby of the bunch. "My middle finger is Saturn. And my ring finger is the sun. Which isn't really a planet.... And my pointy-" She cut herself short, using a more grown-up term. "Index finger is Jupiter." She then stroked the area which the Professor mentioned, and replied, breathily. "Venus, I do believe."

| The REAL Sorting Hat: "Ravenclaw!" This monkey is bananas. Ari smiled slightly as she heard Professor St. Toussaint say something somewhat postiive about her and felt her courage go up as she heard the next question. Finally something I can answere she though, putting her hand up.
"Well professor, I think the thumb, Rhea, is above the mount of Venus. The index finger, ruled by Jupiter, is above the mount of Jupiter. Um, then comes the middle finger, ruled by Saturn, is above the mount of Saturn. Then the ring finger, ruled by Apollo/the Sun God, is above the mount of Apollo. The pinky finger, ruled by Mercury, is above the mount of Mercury." she repied, frowning slightly as she looked over her answer.
She listened to the others reply and frowned. Well, it was worth at least one point she thought.

Jessica raised her hand: "Jupiter rules the index finger, Saturn rules the middle finger, Apollo rules the ring finger and Mercurry rules the little one."
Then she added:"The area below the thumb is the Mount of Venus."

Anna raised her hand and replied, "The little finger is associated with Mercury, and it reveals health and professional ability. The ring finger is associated with Apollo, and it shows fame and fortune. The middle finger is associated with Saturn, and it indicates distinction and excellence. The index finger is associated with Jupiter, and it symbolizes ambition and self-esteem. In addition to all that, the thumb shows power and authority."
"And the area below the thumb and next to the life line called a mount, I believe," Anna added.

Hogwarts RPG Name: November {Noe} Franze First Year | Brain Twin | MASTAH ASHURRII | Reisdent PokeNerd | Digifangirl Ack! As Desdemonda replied, Issy glanced at her text. Of course - different books would have different opinions and ideas, all depending upon accumulation. And it sounded a bit like she was replying with... Greek names? Issy blinked, uncertain. She'd never heard of a planet Rhea. Wasn't Luna associated with moons?
Intriguded, Issy quickly scribbled down what the Slytherin had answered, squaring it in with heavy lines in a box, making a note of interest. Even if it didn't apply (or by chance did, it would be interesting information for future reference, she was sure.
Her head tipped to the side when she found that, Ari too, had replied with the same as the Slytherin and she leaned over a bit to look at the book Ari had. Maybe she'd pick up a copy of that, too. It couldn't hurt to own, could it? Gem replied with the same as she herself, though in a much more unique and cute way. Issy could not contain a giggle.
Still pondering the other answer, Issy's brows furrowed down. Wasn't Rhea a Roman goddess? Was she not the roman version of Hera...? Perchance Issy was wrong... and Apollo... was Greek. Did he have the same name in Roman mythology...? Oh, now her head was all kinds of confused. With her answer in the air, she chose to remain silent on this subject, rather than speak up and sound dumb. Maybe the Professor would elaborate on such points? |

She raised her hand once again. "The thumb, Rhea, is above the mount of Venus. The index finger is ruled by Jupiter The middle finger, ruled by Saturn. The ring finger, ruled by Apollo. The pinky finger, ruled by Mercury. The plain of Mars is located in the center of the palm." She said hoping she got some more point

After flipping through her text book for a while Taylie raised her hand and said. "The thumb, Rhea, is above the mount of Venus. The index finger, ruled by Jupiter, is above the mount of Jupiter. The middle finger, ruled by Saturn, is above the mount of Saturn. The ring finger, ruled by Apollo/the Sun God, is above the mount of Apollo. The pinky finger, ruled by Mercury, is above the mount of Mercury. Upper Mars mount is located beneath the mount of Jupiter, the plain of Mars is located in the center of the palm (beneath the mount of Saturn), and lower Mars mount is located beneath the mounts of Apollo and Mercury. Earth mount is located on the fleshy mount created on the back side of the hand when the thumb and index finger are pushed against each other. The mount of Luna is located on the lower part of the palm directly below the lower plain of Mars. I think"

Jade quickly scrawled down what both girls had said, still stock and determined to keep herself quiet and out of trouble, though she was gumbling on the inside about the whole ordeal. She knew all these answers already, yet was disinclined to participate. She was grateful, at least, that she had lost no House points.
