Jasmine hummed a tune to herself and kept packing the ashwinders. Looking over at Kerry near by she said," Today's class was awesome! I hope they are all like that!"Then looking at the barrel she said," There are sure alot of the little fellows, this is gonna take awhile."

AJ was walking very carefully down the hallway, making sure not to drop it, on her way out to the lake to do the observation part of the homework. Suddenly, when she was only a few doors down from the classroom, she returned with a question.

"Professor Maline, do you have a minute?" she asked.

"Oh Hello AJ, yes i do, go ahead," She smiled, over seeing the moving of the Ashwinders to the boxes carefully. She was also thinking that before next lesson, she'd have to majorly clean out the classroom.

Pulling out her parchment, Torie quickly scribbled down the homework. She wondered absently what would happen to the Ashwinder egg sitting in the box on her lap. When she had finished writing, she tucked her pen and parchment back in her bag and pulled on her dragonskin gloves again, having removed them in order to write.

Torie also was eager to help the new Professor. Leaving her stuff by her bean bag chair, she carefully placed her box with her Ashwinder egg on the floor beside it. Tugging at her protective gloves, she began helping sort the Ashwinder babies into the boxes, two at a time. She beamed at Professor Maline. "That was a wonderful lesson, Professor. I hope I can make it to more of your classes. And thank you for the chocolate, by the way. It was quite delicious."

Jeff leaned against the hallway wall getting his breath.

"Snakes, why did it have to be snakes."

He grumbles a bit.

"What a bunch of suck up. 'It was SOOOOO cool!.' Don't they know what danger their in? Even without the snakes the whole school is in danger."

He staggers back to his dorm.

AJ smiled, "Thanks Professor I'll try not to take up too much of your time. But I know you said they can't hatch in the sunlight, but won't the ice melt if we study them in the sunlight long enough?" she questioned and lifted the egg up to examine it's glowing-ness some more, "And if all the ice melts, then we wouldn't be able to take it back inside without it hatching, and surely we'll be having to give it back to you in the end, right?" she asked, not completely sure of her question, and hoped she wasn't just going to be making a fool of herself.

"I'm only more then happy to help, especially after my little run around the room today," Kerry laughed, "I think I owe you Professor."

She laughed happily, shaking her head, "It's not a problem Kerry, trust me, quite entertaining if you think about it!"

"Professor, you mind if I help you put them in the boxes, these ashwinders are pretty cool." he said and started grabbing two at a time and putting them in the ice boxes. "Amazing lesson by the way, can't wait until next time." said Curt smiling.

"I don't mind at all Curt, congratulations on some very intelligent answers today by the way, i can't wait until next time either, i wonder if i'll have a commotion then..." She mused, before giggling as she picked up a pair of Ashwinders.

"Not a problem Torie," She smiled kindly, "Thank you for the help, and the chocolate, well, i just like to give it out!" She laughed, stacking the boxes.

Liz walked over toward Jasmine and started helping her pack the ashwinders. "Yes I agree this class was awesome!"

Cora copied down the homework quickly, packed her backpack, and headed for the door. Thanks for a wonderful class professor, she said as she walked out the door.

"Ah, no very sensible question AJ, the ice becomes water, so keep it in the box, the egg won't hatch because it's in water, the baby Ashwinder inside is perfectly ok with ice, but not water. It'll wait until i free it from the water, so make sure you keep the lid on that box!" She smiled, "Very sensible question, i completely forgot to mention that." She mused.

"Mmmm, very true, never a dull moment, that's for sure. But I can't believe I was such a coward, I'm usually the one to keep my composure. What a fool!" Kerry laughed.

AJ let out a small laugh and made sure the lid to her egg's box was on very firmly before looking back up to Professor Maline. "Okay, so as long as it's in the water it's safe, that's good to know, thanks very much Professor," she said smiling and began to turn away. She was thinking, altho she didn't have anything else to ask, so leaving was the only thing she had left to do, at least that shes could remember.

Listening, Jasmine looked up and said." I don't think you are a fool Kerry." Giving her a warm smile.

Torie finished helping sort out the boxes of baby Ashwinders. Pulling off her now soaking wet gloves, she walked back to the bean bag chair where she had stashed her stuff. Opening the front pocket of her leather bookbag, she tucked the wet gloves inside, mentally noting the need to dry them out once she returned to the Gryffindor common room. Slinging the bag over her neck, she settled it across her shoulder before bending down to retrieve the box containing her own Ashwinder. Before leaving, she turned to Professor Maline. "Professor," she asked, "Do I need to do anything special to take care of this egg? Like add more ice or anything? I'm not very good with pets, you see."

shortfry 03-19-2007 02:41 AM

"Awe thanks Jasmine! I just got a bit frightened" Kerry laughed, wanting to hug Jas, but not able to because of the eggs in her hands.

Curt smiled broadly as he put some of the last ashwinders into boxes. "Thanks professor, serpents are neat creatures..fun to read about." Said Curt grabbing another Ashwinder. "Yeah, I think everyone learned about ashwinders about as good as you can." said Curt laughing looking at the scorched bean-bag. He looked down at his watch, "Oh, potions starts any minutes, I almost forgot. Thanks for the great lesson professor, see you next time, and I'll be sure to have a great report on my ashwinder egg!!" said Curt as he grabbed his belongings and tore out of the room quickly.

whende 03-19-2007 02:46 AM

As much as she would have liked to help, Whende wanted to head straight for some icy water. She jotted down the homework, grabbed her bag, and was headed straight for the door.

"See you later, Professor," she called. "Thank you for letting me keep him!" Then she was gone.

"Not a problem AJ," Professor Maline smiled and watched her leave. She whistled lowly, and began to attach her owls and hawks to the stacks of iced up Ashwinders.

"Nope, not at all, just keep the lid on that box and you will be fine!" Professor Maline beamed, sending out the boxes through the windows. Thank goodness she had such well trained birds.

Torie gave her thanks to the CoMC professor before herself racing out of the classroom in hopes of catching the potions class. If she hurried, she might just make it in time......

starlightangel 03-19-2007 03:20 AM

Ophelia smiled at the now empty classroom, and ushered the remaining students out, "Bye bye now, if you have any questions, i'll be in my office." Professor Maline grinned and waved them out.
