Sarah walked into the classroom and took a seat near the front and got her parchment, quill and book out ready for taking notes

Vince went inside the room, his footsteps making sounds as he closed his eyes, walking up to a bean bag in the front row. When he opened his eyes, he almost felt like shouting as he saw snakes on her hair, looking to be very slimy and dangerous. I should've moved to the back rows! he thought, looking around since he was the one of the first to go into the classroom. "Uh... hello professor," he said, his heart beating faster than ever. He smiled, waiting for more students to come inside the room.

Gem Jewels almost danced into the room with anticipation. She sat down and put her bag down, now jumping up and down with excitement. If their was a class that she like just as much as Charms- it was Care Of Magical Creautures. Gem loved animals big and small, slimy and smooth, legless and plentiful in limbs. She pulled her shortish black hair back into a ponytail for convenience and sat straight, looking attentive. She grinned and stopped bouncing up and down. Holy crow! thought Gem as she saw snakes in the teachers hair and an anaconda around her shoulders. She wasnt afraid of snakes, she thought they were rather prety, but she found herself yearning for a seat farther away from these serpents.

Kat walked into the classroom and smiled at the professor. "Hello Professor Maline," she said as she took a seat on one of the bean bags and prepared for the lesson.

Brooke came into the classroom and took a seat near the back. "Hello professor." she said with a smile as she pulled out a quill.

Professor Maline beamed as the classroom soon began to fill up, and she greeted everyone back warmly, shifting on the desk so Anna the snake could wrap about her leg too.

"You catch on fast Eliza," Professor Maline laughed, "I think i'll wait a few more moments for some others before class starts properly," She beamed, and absently placed a snake from her own blonde hair, into Elizas'.

Gem smiled. The teachers here seemed to be nice, and this one was no exception at all! She giggled as she took the snake out of her own hair and put it into Eliza's. The snake was rather pretty, she just hoped it wasnt venomous. But she was sure Professor Maline wouldnt place them in any real danger... "Hello Professor," Gem Jewels greeted timidly. She was a shy girl, unless she had sugar, then there was no shutting her up but at the moment she hadnt had any sugar so wasnt hyper and when you're dealing with snakes its hardly a good thing to be uncharestically hyper.

Ophelia smiled once more, it seemed the class was full enough, and as soon as Anna had slithered off her body she deftly hopped off the desk.

"Can any of you tell me, why i would be stupid enough to start a fire in the middle of my class room?" She asked them all. "You don't have to worry about being wrong or right, i just want your ideas," Professor Maline grinned, slipping her hands in the pockets of her jacket.

Jill entered the classroom and said, "Hello, professor." Taking a seat in the middle of the class she took out her quill and notebook.

As Professor Maline started to talk Si smile and took out some parchment and his quill. Resting it on his knee he smiled when he caught Professor Maline’s eye and when she asked about the fire he scratched his head

Torie raised her hand from her seat on one of the beanbag chairs close to the fire. In the dark lighting, her pale skin looked even paler and dark shadows could be seen under her eyes. "Maybe because we are going to deal with creatures that live in fire?" she asked with a questioning tone.

As the professoer asks the class the question of making a fire in the middle of the class oom she takes a bean bag close to the teacher, a little weary of snakes she puts a brave face on and tries to think of an anser to the question

Vince saw the professor put a snake on Eliza's hair as it moved on her head. Hearing her talk again, he wondered why she would put a fire place in her classroom. Yes, that seemed to be very weird. He scratched his head, thinking about his answer. He shot his hand in the air, as he looked the professor in the eye, possibly knowing the answer. "Uh... is it because you might teach us how snakes can sense body heat?" he said, wondering if that was correct.

Ariana thought this was an interesting question to start off the class and smiled as she raised her hand to answer.

"Well professor, it would be stupid because there are students in the class and we could get hurt, unless it's a magical fire in which case no one would. However, if you're doing it to teach us something about serpents then there should be nothing wrong, you know what you are doing. On the other hand, the desks and chairs would catch fire, and that wouldn't be good."

She than realized how dumb her reply was and stopped talking. Taking her quill she waited.

Jill raised her hand and then said, "Maybe we're going to deal with creatures that are used to being in hot places?"

As Kat noticed Si sit down, she smiled at him and then tried to think of an answer to the professor's question. The ideas thrown out by her classmates seemed to be on the right track.

Gem sat back and listened to their answers, wondering if she should offer her own... but she was quite sure hers wasnt correct. Because I think these bean bags are flamable was her answer but she didnt say it out loud because it sounded a bit to irrevelant to the lesson. So instead, Gem got out her quill and parchment and decided to learn all she could about snakes before class was over. It would be not smart to start a fire in Professor Maline's class room because... she scribbled down.

Ringo leaned in a shadowy corner, half listening and half gazing at Professor Maline. Not snakes... he thought.

Professor Maline shook her head, "Oh dear, a point from Slytherin for being late i'm afraid." She sighed, points off already!

"You are close Torie, yet wrong, good try," Professor Maline smiled at her, and tossed her a bar of chocolate from honey dukes for the effort.

"Good try, but snakes warm themselves from the sun, no need for fire," She explained, throwing her a bar of chocolate too.

"Point to Ravenclaw!" Professor Maline beamed, "You are wrong in the sense of this lesson, but right in the way of science, also, that is an astonishingly good answer!"

"Nope, but good try," She smiled, tossing Vince a bar of chocolate.

"There is a snake, that comes from Magically induced fire, this particular serpent is the Ashwinder. Can anyone tell me where it gets it's name from?" She asked the class, as the fire began to move slightly.

Sarah sat taking notes she wasnt too sure of the answer and did not want to risk losing any more points

Vince got in the eye with the chocolate she threw, but he didn't mind. He listened to what she had said and immediately raised his hand, reading in a book that he might have the correct answer. "Ash comes from a serpent's color also a reference to its connection of fire. Winder is the movements of some snakes," he said.

He wrinkled his long nose in disgust. Why did they have to study something like that; it was so gross. He didn't look at the snakes but continued to gaze at the teacher, dazedly.

Torie gasped in surprise as a rogue chocolate bar landed in her lap, thrown from the strange new Professor. She smiled grateful at the teacher and proceeded to tear open the wrapper. It made a crinkly noise and she tried to stiffle it in the loose folds of her uniform jumper. She broke off a piece and muched it absentmindedly as she listened to the responses of her classmates.

Jill stayed silent and began to copy notes. Slytherin was already behind and didn't want to cost them anymore points.

Gem thought she knew this answer well enough but wasnt sure. She bit her lip and raised her hand. "Well, because its ash coloured, Professor?" she questioned. She also knew a few other facts about this serpent but she didnt say them all. She also though it lived for only one hour and came from fires that burned too long- explaining why you wouldnt want a fire in her classroom but she didnt say those. Professor MAline had just asked where it got its name from.

"Another point Miss Kennedy, i believe you said the right answer just as i said it." She smiled warmly.

"Ohhhhh nice try Eliza, but we're not trying to kill the poor snake!" She laughed slipping her some chocolate.

"Ah, no, but nice try Kennedy," she smiled, and threw her some chocolate.

"Perfect answer, two points to Gryffindor Marie," She smiled and tossed her some chocolate.

"Point for Ravenclaw too," She smiled again.

"Yet another point" She laughed, delighted with all the points she was giving out.

"Thats a very good point Gem, and it brings me onto the next point, What are your ideas on the Ashwinders colour? They're ash grey, with bright red eyes." She spoke as she gave Gem some chocolate and beamed as an Ashwinder began to come from the fire.

Eliza grabbed the chocolate and turned a bright shade of crimson,she couldn't help but laugh at her own answer.it did sound stupid but it was the first thing that popped into her head.

BIC:Eliza gazed at the fire as a gray-coloured snake slithered from the fire towards them,she smiled.Be friendly to animals,they mean you no harm that was what her personal COMC tutor had once told her,that was,before the inncident in Egypt with the Sphinx.

Without realizing it, he raised his hand.

Sarah thought and raised her hand and said "I think there colours come from the fire or from the area the fire is in"

Vince looked at his chocolate, wanting to eat it, but he knew he cannot until class ends. He listened to the next question the professor had asked, wondering what the answer was. It was very difficult for him, but he knew he could get the answer if he tries his best. He raised his hand saying, "Maybe they get the color from the ashes in the fire, forming into a serpent by the ashes. They get red eyes by the color of the fire." He wished he didn't use a dumb answer.

Jack raised her hand and said "Because of the fire itself and the ashes that leaves behind" said Jack

Amie raises her hand "they are gray because of the ashes that it leaves behind and the red colored eyes represent the fire"

Amie sat back to see if she was close...

She beamed as she was thrown chocolate and wondered where to hide it from her pet toad. Gem raised her hand slowly. "Maybe..." she mused. "It has something to do with the extremly hot body heat they give off..." she was lost in thought as she said her answer. "I mean, they're so hot they can catch buildings on fire!" Gem wondered about her asnwer.

Ermagardle sat silently with her brow furrowed. She felt bad for not knowing the answer. Her dark eyes lit up as she saw an Ashwinder emerging from the flames.

Torie raised her hand after she had finished her mouthful of chocolate. "I think it is for camoflague." she said. "By having their bodies a grey colour, like ash, they can hide in the fire, and so that they don't look just like a long round strip of ash, they have the red eyes so they can peer through the flames and not be seen."

"You all have simply brilliant ideas, there is no real answer to this question, i was just curious for your views," She beamed, handing out chocolate to everyone who answered.

"Two points." Professor Maline said instantly, "I'll tell you why in a moment."

"Absolutely!" Professor Maline exclaimed, and deftly picked up the Ashwinder, she placed it in Whende's arms, and beamed at her, "Be gentle, it's a baby one in retrospect, it's only just come from the fire, feel free to keep it or name it," She smiled.

Turning back to the class she beamed again, "I gave two points to Gem here, because in actual fact, that is exactly what Ashwinders do! Now there is something special about the eggs, what?" She asked, before getting ready to reveal the next snake.

Vince sighed, ready to answer the next question because he wanted to earn many points for his house and also learn many new things if he was correct or incorrect. He smiled, scratching his head, knowing the professor sure gave a tricky question. With his answer, he shot his hand in the air, giving her a determined face. "The eggs are very hot, can also be used for potions making," he said.

"The eggs, if they are frozen before they ignite your house, can be used in Love Potions or be eaten whole as a cure for ague." Kennedy replied.

Kerry raised her hand "The eggs are quite valuable actually, they can be used as ingredients in love potions or may be eaten whole as a cure for ague"

"Ashwinder eggs give off great amounts of heat and often cause wizards' houses to catch fire. If an egg is frozen with the appropriate charm, they may be used in love potions or as a cure for ague" said Jack proudly

Sarah took the chocolate and took down notes cause she was not sure of this answer

Gem's hand shot up. "If the eggs are frozen with the right charm I think they can be used to cure ague," Gem said clearly, wondering if that was right. She then added, "And can be used in love potions to..." Gem Jewels was no expert on potions, and definatley not love potions, but she had done her reading and hoped that her answer was atleast remotely correct. She smiled as she got her House awarded two points. This is SO much better than Carver Elementary she thought again.

Professor Maline beamed happily once more, "Point to all of you that answered, they were all right!" She laughed, then put out the fire, before lighting the torches round the side of the room.

She took the sheet covering the cage of the next animal and grinned around at the class. "This," She announced," Is a Runespoor, what is so unusual about it?"

Ermagardle smiled at the Ashwinder in Whende`s arms. She thought it was quite cute. Turning back to her parchment, she quickly wrote down all of the answers that were being suggested.

Vince felt so comfortable in his large bean bag, wondering why other classes did not allow it. This class was one he would like, feeling like he was about to sleep. Hearing another question, he sat straight, looking at the professor. He knew this one! It was just because he was very curious of his answers. "They are very long and are three headed..." he said.

Sarah thought and put her hand up and said "The unusual thing about a runespoor is that it is a serpant but does not act like a serpant"

"It has three independently thinking heads, ma'am." Kennedy answered.

Ariana raised her hand again, unsure of the answer, "Um, they have three heads?" She looked at the Runespoor, gulping lightly. It looked dangerous. She was glad she was sitting at the back of the class.

"Also, ma'am, Runespoors are the only magical beasts known to produce eggs through its mouth." Kenned added.

Jack raised her hand and said"they have 3 heads?" said Jack very shyly

A runespoor is a three headed snake the can be up to seven feet long. It is a bright orange color with black banding. It is native to Burkina Faso, and there are several forests that are designated as preserves for the snake. It is unique because it produces eggs through its mouth. Cora said.

The planner decides where the runespoor goes and what it will do next, although the dreamer's visions often lead to a runespoor remaining stationary for days, lost in its imaginings. The critic, the fangs of which are extremely venomous, hisses continually as it watches the efforts of the planner and the dreamer. Many times, the other two heads will gang up on the critic and bite it off; two-headed runespoors are not uncommon to see."

"It has three heads!" exclaimed Gem, eyes wide. "It reaches up to six to seven feet and it produces its eggs through its mouth!" She remembered everything she read over the summer, either that or she had a dream about reading. It must have been a very realistic dream then... "Each head contains an individual brain and they tend to attack eachother," she giggled a bit as she said this, the idea was quite comical but a bit frightening. She pointed at each head as she gave answers. "The right head is the planner, the left head i think is the critic," she paused, thinking just like my dad. "And the middle head is the dreamer. "The planner decides where the snake goes and what it will do, the middle head tends to cause the snake to sit there for days, just imagining things and the left head has really venomous fangs and hisses alot at the two other heads, evaluating their efforts and such. It used to be thee favorite pet of a Dark Wizard," she said the last bit in a whisper.

Turning to Whende she nodded, "Of course you can keep it, and as strange as this may sound, keep it near very cold water."

"Good, we'll get on to length later," She smiled, tossing him some chocolate.

"Correct, point to Slytherin and we'll discuss this point in a moment too."

"You got it exactly, another point," She grinned.

"That is yet another unique point, have a point for that," Professor Maline grinned.

"What is so special about the heads exactly though?" She asked, keeping the Runespoor in the cage.

"Ma'am? I noticed that a great deal of students are staying that the left head is the critic, but I read in Fantastic Beasts and Where to FInd Them that the right head was the critic and the left the planner.Which is right? Or is that from the viewpoint of the wizard?" Kennedy asked.

Vince looked at the professor, knowing many creatures were very weird in this subject. It kind of freaked him out, but it was the only way for learning this kind of subject. He glanced at each student, giving each a smile. He raised his hand, as he scratched his head. "Uh... they each have different minds. "Um..." Gem has said the answer already and blushed. She had been too eager. The planner decides what the Runespoor does, the dreamer normally makes the Runespoor stationary for days. The critic has extremly venomus fangs and evaluates ther planner and dreamer heads." Ariana replied, quietly.
