Professor Fox opened the Arithmancy classroom and stepped in. He conjured a large box to appear on the instructor's desk at the front of the room. He then removed a small, old wooden box and set it near the front of the desk. Fox wrote silently on the board at the front:
Applied Arithmancy: Spell numerization
We will be continuing using concepts covered in last year's courses. This term we will be applying the theory we learned last term directly to curse breaking.
New Students:
If you are unfamiliar with the matereial covered last term, simply try to keep up. This material will be new for everyone, so try your best to learn as we go and interject your ideas and opinions when asked. I will not deduct points for incorrect answers, and questions are always welcome. However, we stay on topic in my classroom, and I don't tolerate rule breakers or class clowns.
Having written that, he turned his attention to the now empty seats and waited for everyone to begin arriving. | |

Aurore tried again. "Arithmos Revelio" she said concentrating on the locket and the numbers. It was perfectly clear!! She smiled. "Oh no!" she moaned silently...the numbers wrong.

Aurore tried a few more times, each time one or two numbers was wrong. On the fourth try she finally got it. Thinking it was a fluke, she tried again. After getting it right a few times in a row. She raised her hand, "Professor, i think i've got it!"

Tonks jumped out of her seat to get a locket eager to give it a try. Walking over to the plate she almost tripped on her hair being down to her ankles and her frame so small, for a half-elf she was mighty clumsy on her feet, and snatched a locket quickly and stumbled to her desk. With a fierce look of concentration raises her wand and clearly repeats the words "arithmos revelio" then waits for the result.

Sabrina tried four more times, each time the numbers getting a bit clearer. Her eyes were beginning hurt a bit from staring at the fuzzy numbers trying to decipher them.
She rubbed her eyes, then concentrated really hard, repeated the spell once more, and her eyes opened in surprise and delight. It worked! The numbers showed up clearly.

Professor Fox stopped and examined the numbers. "Yes, well the numbers are certainly somewhat clear, they just are incorrect. To answer your question Ms. Abagnale, you should see the exact same numbers we saw when I performed the spell on the chest. All of the lockets have the exact same curse on them."

She had had problems in her other classes so she was extremely happy to have gotten the spell right, exspecially so quickly. I think i'm going to like arithmancy after all! she thought

Evy laughed quietly. She was surprised that so many students were suddenly sick. Maybe they are afraid to approach the box, she thought, amused.
Seeing as the class was almost over, Evy decided to pack her things and head to her common room. She got up and walked towards the exit.
"Thank you professor Fox, that was a really interesting class, I'm looking forward to the next lessons." She smiled gently and walked out.
