Professor Fox opened the Arithmancy classroom and stepped in. He conjured a large box to appear on the instructor's desk at the front of the room. He then removed a small, old wooden box and set it near the front of the desk. Fox wrote silently on the board at the front:
Applied Arithmancy: Spell numerization
We will be continuing using concepts covered in last year's courses. This term we will be applying the theory we learned last term directly to curse breaking.
New Students:
If you are unfamiliar with the matereial covered last term, simply try to keep up. This material will be new for everyone, so try your best to learn as we go and interject your ideas and opinions when asked. I will not deduct points for incorrect answers, and questions are always welcome. However, we stay on topic in my classroom, and I don't tolerate rule breakers or class clowns.
Having written that, he turned his attention to the now empty seats and waited for everyone to begin arriving. | |

The girl's head was spinning again. Heck, worse than that, the class was going at such a fast rate, that she felt like banging her head on the nearest object she could find.
"If 0 stands for decay and change and 8 stands for navigation, then one would assume that the 0's decay is acting like an offensive spell while the 8 means locating the person who tried to open the box," Alex spoke, rather hesitantly this time. Mind, it was worth a try.
"And perhaps that the 0's on either side make the effect of the curse stronger than usual," she added, as an afterthought.

"I think the 8 represents that the spell hits exactly the core of the cursed object," Jara said trying to think. "And it stops human movement," she said, simply repeating the words of her fellow classmates. Oh when will you ever understand this yourself?
