Zekke shouldered his satchel a little higher on his shoulder before knocking on the frame of the door.

He glanced down at his slip of parchment that listed the time he was supposed to meet and hoped he had written down the right time and date.

Professor Virohsa lifted her eyes from her parchment, which was almost done being written. "Come in!", she called automatically.

Zekke stepped in and inclined his head in greeting. "Professor Virohsa, you wanted to see me?"

He smiled a bit and stepped into the room and closed the door and sat down in a chair and set down his satchel.

Professor Virohsa nodded and observed him while he sat down. "Ah yes.. Zekke", she replied as she moved the parchment to the side. "Tell me.. what are your plans for your future?", she asked in her usual cold tone. Her green eyes scanned Zekke's face and seemingly natural composture.

His eyes darkened a bit as he went into thought.

"I actually have a few notions on what I might like to do, professor. I was thinking that I might like to work as an Auror someday or work in the International Magical Office of Law or in a similar area.

I really enjoy working with others and helping to keep order. I like to see arguments and contentions handled in a civil manner, and so I feel drawn to diplomacy as much as I feel drawn to actual... Auror work."

Professor Virohsa nodded as she paid close attention. "Well.. dear, it seems like you are talking about three different things.. and I shall put them in different categories so that it is easier for you to discern where you would feel more comfortable in", she explained.

"The first is of an officer of the court, per se. Such rule would to make sure fairness is handed out as well as being enforced from within the ministry. It involves more of.. a calm yet determined attitude, since you would be dealing directly with citizens as well as creatures", she added.

"The second is of a diplomat, with a heart of the enticing politician. In here, your job would be to make laws, draft laws, amend laws, and abate them as required", she continued. "You would still be upholding order, you see. You would just go about it in a different approach".

"The third is of an adventurer who is sent in missions to recover objects or to kill enemies. It is like being in the frontline", she added.

"As you see, all of these uphold order, the law, justice, and fairness. However, they go about it in different ways", she explained. "When you think about them, think of what seems natural for you.. and if you make the wrong choice, you are always free to change your mind and switch careers midway through", she told him.

"Honestly, I feel torn between being the adventurer and being the diplomat because I see clear reasons where both sorts of... services are needed and my own personal interests are... divided."

He clasped his hands and his eyebrows furrowed a bit.

"The voice in me says two different things. Half of me wants to handle things directly and be on the front line, in active duty. The other half of me wants to talk things through and try to come to agreements or try and help people come to agreements without resorting to violence.

There are times for both situations and... I don't know how to choose at this point, honestly. What are the educational requirements for each?"

Professor Virohsa tapped a parchment with her wand, and the criteria for different jobs appeared. "There are a variety of jobs.. which you may be interested in", she explained as she handed him the parchment. "The first list is a more active duty.. type of job. The second list is a more diplomatic one", she explained. "Would you like me to explain them?", she inquired.

Zekke's eyes widened a bit and he nodded as he took the parchment and grabbed his quill out of his bag to take down notes.

"Oh yes, please, professor! I'd very much appreciate that."

Professor Virohsa nodded. "Very well.. Aurors focus on death eaters and catching dangerous wizards", she explained.
"The Improper use of magic focus on stopping contraband and making sure that the magical regulations and laws are followed by the magical community when it deals with objects and enchanting objects", she continued down the list.
"The Magical Enforcement Squad will focus on stopping contraband and making sure that the magical regulations and laws are followed by the magical community when it deals with people instead of objects. So, it will make sure people are casting the appropriate spells and not making dangerous ones against others", she added.
"The misuse of muggle artifacts on stopping contraband and making sure that the magical regulations and laws are followed by the magical community when it deals with muggle artifacts. For example, that they are not enchanted and dangerous to either muggles or the wizardry community", she stated.
"The office for detection and confiscation of counterfeit defensive spells and protective objects focuses on stopping contraband and making sure that the magical regulations and laws are followed by the magical community when it deals with defensive spells and objects designed to protect property, land, people, or objects", she explained.
"The Wizengamot and Wizengamot Administration Services of Magical Law deals with wizengamot, its regulations and relevant rules", she continued.
"The magical equipment control focuses on on stopping contraband and making sure that the magical regulations and laws are followed by the magical community when it deals with equipment used by all wizards. Such as, cauldrons, wands, and scales", she explained.
"The International Confederation of Wizards is the government and it focuses on legislation. These rules are changed, amended, abated, and so on. They work closely with all the other departments in other countries and within our own to make sure everyone gets what a fair share", she continued.
"Lastly, the International Magical Office of Law deals with international rules for the trading, exchange, buying, and selling of objects from other countries. These rules are changed, amended, abated, and so on. The government works together within and outside of this country to make sure that everything is according to regulations and safety standards", she added. `

Zekke listened intently as Professor Virohsa explained each role. He had done some research on this before, courtesy of his father, but that wasn't quite the same.

As he took down notes, his eyes brightened on two specific roles and his quill circled two options.

Auror.

International Confederation of Wizards.

"I don't suppose it's possible to work in more than one department at a given time?" He tapped his quill on his parchment.

Professor Virohsa nodded as she saw him circling two options. "Well.. you can try one first and see if you would like it. The only things that you need to keep in mind is that you need to go through a couple of years of Auror training, whereas you can jump right into the International Confederation of Wizards. You are free to either first, of course", she replied.

He nodded and took on a very severe and considering look as he listened to her advice.

He made a notation on his parchment before looking up at Professor Virohsa, his countenance pensive and serious.

"Professor... from my academic and other school and non-school related records and from having me as your student... If I told you that I'd like to go directly into diplomacy and work in the International Confederation while studying to be an Auror at the same time... what would you say?"

Professor Virohsa looked at Zekke quizically. "Even though I know you are fairly capable, I'm afraid you have a misconception on what these jobs are like. Unlike muggle jobs, these jobs will take most of the day and night. I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to hold two jobs, since one of these jobs require more commitment and time than what muggles consider as full-time", she explained. "These are very serious jobs. You need to be fully dedicated towards them", she stated plainly.

He seemed to muse over this for a moment longer before he nodded. "Then I believe I will elect to finish my Auror training first, should I head in that direction."

Thinking about Auror training made him think about requirements and thinking about that made him think about his upcoming NEWTs...

"Professor... I do a fair amount of studying and reading on my own time, but I worry that the... disruptions and incidents of the past few terms might have created a few... rifts in my studies. I'm honestly not too sure if I'm prepared well enough for the NEWTs or not even though I've kept up with all my classes," he admitted.

Professor Virohsa nodded. "I would suggest that you 1) ask your professors for extra reading or classes, then 2) start a study group with your fellow Slytherins and go over the books. Now, if you would like.. I'm hosting a small study group on NEWTs for plants in Greenhouse #24?", she inquired.

Again, Zekke's eyes lit up. He had just asked Branxton for help and he had asked Lainey as well and had asked Rae in previous terms. Now he had Virohsa's help, too!

"A few of us have managed to get together for some study sessions already, actually. And it does help. And I'll be starting extra potions studies with Branxton shortly. And actually, that's also why I've signed up to volunteer to work in the Greenhouses for your class, too."

The corners of his lips upturned a bit. "The hands-on approach seems to work rather well for Herbology and the last out of classwork we did help me and I'd very much like to join the study group you're hosting."

Despite Virohsa's cool and even cold composure, she was quite forthcoming in her advice and he was glad of this. People really always weren't as they might seem sometimes...

Professor Virohsa nodded and wrote a quick note on a parchment. She handed it over to Zekke. "You will need this", she stated.

"Thank you, professor!" Zekke took the note and tucked it carefully into his satchel. He glanced at his pocketwatch and realized the time.

"Is there anything else I should know in regards to career advising or my upcoming NEWTs... or Herbology class?"

Professor Virohsa shook her head, "No, child. That is it. Let me know if you have any other questions at a later time".

"I'll do that then. See you in class, professor." He inclined his head respectfully and collected his things and left his HoH's office while rereading the sheet of parchment he had been given.

Selena dragged herself to Professor Virohsa's office with the last part of her punishment in her hand. Knocking on the door Selena waited for a response.

Professor Virohsa looked up. "Come in", she said in her usual cold voice.

-not wanting to end up back in detention for failure to delivery her apology letters for a second time selena entered the room and handed the professor the note she was kinda forced to write-

Professor Virohsa took the note and read it. "Very well... Your apology is accepted", she replied. "I hope you realize that you need to treat all students.. especially Slytherin, with upmost respect. If you don't, I will make sure you end up in detention.. or even get expelled", she said as she frowned. "You may go now", she added.
