There are four gumball machines near the exit to the sweet shop. They have been charmed to accept wizarding money instead of muggle money. If you have any knuts in your pocket that you are just dying to get rid of, why not buy a few gumballs with them? All you have to do is place the two knuts inside the little slot, turn the knob, and watch as the gumball travels down the maze and to the little compartment at the bottom where you may receive your gumball. Enjoy!
Baelyn watched it deflate...hmm. He smirked and as she said all of that he ROLLED his eyes...and then her hand--he quickly smacked it out the way and growled as his bubble deflated. "Hey! You cheater! " he cried. "I don't hit girls--but you're a merlin's-pants-eatin'-cheater!" he snapped, and he groooowled.
Ugh.
And then he felt bad. He started chewing again and shuffled his feet. "I'm sorry...you won..." he said and looked all glum now.
He shouldn't have hit her hand...that was mean. He didn't want to be mean. He took out two knuts and put them in the machine...he then watched another pink gum roll out. He picked it up and held it out. "Here--" his face looked all sad.
He had lost.
And then he had been a MEANIE.
UGh.
"You better be sorry because I didn't even touch you. I thought about it but I stopped." Hope rubbed her hand and glared. She had thought about it and she might not have stopped but point was her hit her and she had NEVER been hit her entire life.
She reached out and took the gum. "Thank you." She popped it in her mouth and chewed it up with the wad of gum that was already in her mouth. "You going stand there and feel bad or are you going to get over it?" She didn't do forgiveness and she didn't care too much for other people acting like babies.

Baelyn sighed. And he rubbed his arm uncomfortably...ugh. Girls were dumb. He had decided the ones his age were stupid. older ones were cool. Maybe he would just be friends with older girls. HMPH.
He then scowled. "Hey! I was trying to be nice and let bigones be bigones!" he cried. He had heard his father say that a lot. Making peace, yep. "So don;t be a meanie. Or I can be mean right BACK." And he crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes. Stupid girl!
"Isn't Hope a peaceful name? Shouldn't you be nicer? I gave you a gum. You should say, oh, thanks Baelyn! I forgive you! You're awesome!" And he grinned cheekily. Hehe.

"Hi, stranger." She sidled up next to him, hand moving to touch his hair. Or rather, add touch ups to his hair. Her eyes shot down to his and her hands moved behind her back when she was done, a grin taking over her features. "Fancy seeing you here."
Theo watched the gumballs dropping through the machine with amusement. It was one of those boring days, that's why. They eventually plopped to the bottom and Theo scooped them up, quickly putting one into his mouth straight away. Mmmmmmm, juicy.
Anyway.
Before he could be tempted with anything else (because he couldn't really afford it), Theo turned around a little but his eyes automatically went over to the chocolate frogs. Why must they tempt him so? Hi, stranger. Whoever this was came at good timing. Theo looked away sharply when the person decided to touch his hair.

Touched. His. Hair.... Oh, it was Dora.
"Do-wa!" He managed, almost forgetting the gumball stored in his left cheek. Please don't dribble, please don't dribble.

She inserted two knuts and turned the knob. Out came a blue piece and she offered it to him. She wasn't asking for forgiveness because she didn't want nor need it but she was asking for him to be one of her non-friends. She didn't do friends because friends have the word end inside them.

He had to come here. It'd be a while until he returned to England since business in the States was growing at rapid pace. It's also the reason why Xavier sold the shop. It had been a tough decision, but more money meant more comfort and possibilities for his family. And his ambitious side wouldn't let him throw away an offer like that. Time means money, yeah? 'Course!
Besides, Peyton was starting Quidditch at Salem's and Cornelius was in little league Quidditch (that he coached), so there was absolutely NO WAY he'd missed that. Plus, the sudden popping of grandchildren. SIGH.
The former Sugarplums Shopkeeper found himself standing in front of the gumball machine. One last act before he left. For an odd reason he glanced around expecting to see Alexa. She had a knack of kicking the gumball machine senseless.
Shrugging, he placed two knuts in the slot and turned the knob. He waited but nothing came out.
Huh?
Oh, uh-uh! It couldn't do this to him on his last visit. It was unfair!!
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
You know what she needed to add to her growing bag of candy? Gumballs from her favourite machine. Lex and the thing went way back, coming here for gum had become something of a summer tradition for her. Even if she didn't feel for gum she still needed to get some. Granted, it wouldn't be much of a tradition without that nice Xavier man who'd always been there to help her out after the machine got rude but she'd have to make due.
That kinda left her wondering...without him....HOW WOULD SHE GET HER GUMBALLS???
Cassia said her uncle owned the place now and she'd like to think that by virtue of being his niece's best friend she wouldn't get kicked out after she gave the thing a good kick...but she couldn't be sure..and didn't want to try just yet either because she hadn't done her school candy shopping yet.
Lex rounded the corner and headed for the--Mr. Xavier!!! HJFJDDUJEUFEIUGE!!
She slid over until she was standing at his side and fixed him with a wide grin. "Hello! Fancy seeing you here again. I figured you'd be long gone." Her gum was SAVED...if only for the last time....

Switching his attention from machine to the small person next to him (not so small anymore, actually), Xavier smiled, momentarily forgetting the no-gum ball result. "Couldn't leave without saying goodbye to my favorite customer, now could I?"
His eyes shifted toward the machine. We have a problem, Huston. "And I need your skills." The grown man pouted at the machine. IT RIPPED HIM OFF.

Lex BEAMED at his response. Favourite? She definitely liked being the favourite. "Good! Because I never proper got to say goodbye to you. I was kinda miffed about it for a while." Walking in and learning there was new management in the year she'd gone off to school. Who did things like that?
Her curiousity was peaked when he looked to the machine again and was informed that he needed her skills...? Kicking? He meant kicking, yes????
"It stole your gumball, didn't it?"
The man never seemed to believe her when she said the thing was MEAN and STOLE, even after that one time he tried and it stole even from him. Well! No fear! She was on it. The machine didn't stand a chance.
"You'll have to be look out though, in case the new guy shows up." Final team work, neat!

Really? Somehow Xavier found that adorable. "Yeah, well things happened all so fast, but the shop is in good hands." He grinned. His son had thrown a fit when he told the family the news. Apparently he'd thought the shop was his second home. The poor guy.
Anyway. Gum ball. It was stuck or the machine was being severely unfair with him.
Xavier nodded all sad-like and hung his shoulders. "Yeah. It did it again." He seriously felt like a child, but...he wanted to his gum.
Look out? Like a mission? Xavier liked that. "You go it," he said. Arching his neck to see if he spotted anyone. "Make sure to kick it good," he whispered.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
Lex could understand that. As much as she didn't particularly like it and wasn't all that sure she'd be accustomed to someone other than him in the shop for a while she was happy he was making more money and his business was taking off. 'Sides, that meant good things for Peyton too, yeah? "I guess the shop is, but did you know I couldn't find the chocolate frogs the other day? I think he might have remodelled." Either that or she was too used to the inside of Honeydukes but SHHHH.
Lex looked to the machine again. It was just as she thought. Back to its old money stealing ways. So good it's been his coins and not hers because she might have gotten violent assertive....not that she wasn't about to be now that he'd asked for her help.
If this weren't such a serious moment she might have still been beaming. What were the odds that she'd be on a candy machine kicking mission with the former shopkeep for this place. The one strictly against it.
"No problem! I got this!."
Lex swung her foot backward, measured the distance then gave it a solid kick.

Pretty normal kinds of candy too, actually.
Mitchell tilted his head to the side. "Sugar quills?" he said looking at the treat in her hand. His eyes then widened a little. "Right. You guys use... old timey paper over here, huh?" He then made a face. "I just remembered that I'm going to need to learn how to write with a feather."
It was practically criminal how... ... just... dumb that process was. Why couldn't he use a pen? Carrying around a feather and some ink was so unnecessary. Wasteful and unproductive even.
Right. Candy. Back to that.
"Oh. I've had lemon drops before." Assuming that they sold the same kind here. Of course, they couldn't be too different, right?

Xavier raised an eyebrow. "You don't say!" Fake surprise, of course. "Maybe he's hiding them from you, knowing how much you love those things." He remembers her buys. Also that time her father had accompanied her. Xaiver wondered if he ever used his sticky-time-out chair suggestion.
Not that it worked. Unfortunately, Xavier has caught his six year old son in nothing but underpants, running away from said chair and escaping grounding. That boy was too cunning! Excellent.
Xavier was ready. So ready he shrugged his sleeves up while keeping an eye on their surroundings.
BAM!
That was a nice kick. So nice Xavier wondered if the shopkeeper heard it. "Great! You'd make a football coach proud," he said, beaming like a kid.
He hadn't doubted her abilities, but he hadn't expected it to work so soon, either. A green gumball rolled its way down...
.... Followed by a blue. Then a red and an orange.
That...wasn't supposed to happen. Was that dent on the machine there before? O___o

Business was very very good! Silas' smile was wide and had been since he opened his new shop. Or well, bought it. He was relieved to know that he didn't buy a shop that no one visited or liked. Which was something you think of when buying any shop. Was its previous owner getting rid of it. As for this case, the answer was obviously not.
He found no greater joy than watched the kids come into the shop and load their baskets. then paying. Hehehe.
He moved from behind the counter and walked around, hands in pockets and smile playing on his lips.
Well, that until he got to the gumball machine. He spotted a bunch of kids talking casually and he noted the presence of gums. But then, someone familiar caught his attention. "Mister Baltazar," Silas politely said walking towards the man and was about to offer his hand to shake but the scene got clearer and he stopped confusion written all over his face. There was a teenage girl with him, too.
"What happened to the machine?" he asked trying to make his voice free from any traces of accusing. No really, what happened to the machine, he just had a gum himself like an hour ago.

Lex felt pretty confident in her kick. Those hardly ever failed thank you very much so when the first gumball rolled out she grinned. All in the foot work. Ahem. They needed to start hiring her for this job. She and the machine had an underst--
Uh-oh!
One behind another there was something like a burst of gumballs falling from the machine. Oh merlin! Sweet Circe! Holy Kneazle! JGSGFRDURDKFKRDFKI!! "Uhhhhh........" Lex leapt forward and tried grabbing as many of them as she could, saving the candy as it were, but it was no use as more and more kept bouncing to the floor and spreading out.
Every muscle in her froze at the voice of the shopkeeper.
.__.
Of all the questions he could possibly ask. "Er.....it...the gumballs....stealing money. These things happen sometimes." Her eyes trailed down to the floor again, now covered in gumballs. Guess it was time to try that friend of the niece card....?

Xavier was between hauling Alexa out of there (along with their loot) and make a mad run for the door, but the new shopkeeper recognized him.
Snitches!
"Mister Calverley," Xavier said, swirling around and giving him one of his best I-am-innocent-and-dashing smiles. Too bad Calverley wasn't a woman. Xavier totally melted the hearts of women with his winning smile. Too bad he was all Ursulla's. Ha!
Oh. The machine. Right.
"I forgot to tell you, this machine is old. Ancient, even. This young lady was just assisting me in retrieving my gumball..." Holly Bludger. They were surrounded by gumballs.
This looked bad.
"Oh, that dent...that one right there," Xavier pointed at it, "it's been there before. Pops in and out every once in a while." He jerked his head at Alexa: Get the loot and run!
"It was nice seeing you. I'm glad to have left the shop in great hands."

Move it chickidy!
The more he looked the more he realized how serious the situation was. GUMBALLS WERE ALL OVER THE FLOOR! Ones that should have only popped out by putting MONEY into the slot. So much money that was supposed to go into his pocket.
He shook his head snapping out of profits calculating and diverted his attention on trying to fix the problem at task. HE needed to fix it or the customers who were witnessing this wouldn't come back! He cleared his throat and pushed back his shoulder, "Everything's under control," he said reassuringly and intentionally quite LOUDLY to be heard. But he didn't reassure his self.
He looked at the teenage girl, "They do? " did she know MOAR about the machine than he did? Well, if she didn't, then he was certain someone else did.
Someone who was like standing with them.
Xavier!
Who was pointing out the dent. Now! Would have been helpful if he did when he handed over the shop, maybe?! Just thinking here. And waaait a sec, he was leaving. Oh, no, he wasn't. Someone had to help Silas! "How often did this happen?"he asked in a low tone as he pulled out his wand and tapped the machine murmuring the incantation.
Phew! he sighed in relief seeing that there was no more gumballs rolling out.
As for those on the floor, hmmm. Speaking of! Dashing down, Silas gathered a fistful and shoved them in the girl's hand. "We are going to have maintenance here very very soon." he said flashing a smile. "Please don't let this stop you from shopping at Sugarplums," he said commercially. He couldn't afford to lose costumers or having them spread the word about this. So bribing it was.
More gumballs into her hands.

Abel was starting to get bored. There were lines everywhere for every shop and he wasn't the most patient person. Deciding he would get more school supplies later once some more people have cleared out. For now he just decided to take a few knuts he had and get something sweet. Looking at the gumball machines, Abel felt like he was making some big decisions on how to spend the little bit of money that his dad worked hard for. Should he go with the regular gumball from the machine? Or should he indulge himself in the creature feature gum he had been eyeing out for the past five minutes... Decisions decisions...

Upon arriving and unpacking from Peru, Aidan realized that he was in desperate need for candy. Not that he'd been deprived, he'd just packed it all and eaten it and came home to find that he had none in his room and his parents hadn't been nice enough to think of buying him some for his return. So the boy made a stop at Sugarplum's a priority.
By now, he'd already roamed around and made his purchases and it was time for a quick treat before heading out of the shop and deciding what to do next. Bags in hand, he lined up behind another boy at the gumball machines.

Gumball.... Creature feature..... Gumball.... Creature feature. Why is this so hard to decide? Abel looked around to see another boy behind him waiting to use the gumball machine. "OH um, I'm sorry you've been waiting on me. Go ahead, for some reason I can't decide." Awkward. Abel figured he had spent too much time at home as excuse for his awkward social skills. He stood there for a bit, wondering if he should say something else or just walk away all embarrassed. "Um, do you go to Hogwarts?" Ugh, Stupid question. Of course all these kids went to Hogwarts, their parents weren't weird like his, 'I'm sure none of them have been homeschooled.' He thought, starting to feel awkward again, was there any saving himself from this? Hopefully school won't be this awkward all the time.

He went up to it, but his 2 knutz in and then he saw the gumball travel down the machine and he smiled. He bent down and picked it up and started chewing on his new gumball.
