Division: International Magical Office of Law |
With a heavy sigh, Alistaire steps out from within the lift, all within seeming to breathe a sigh of relief at his exit. He casts a weary and hopeless eye at the cubicles before striding amongst them to reach his own, the desk and walls within plastered with pictures of his loved ones to keep his spirits up. Being able to spot his cubicle from a mile away made it easy for him to reach it, the briefcase that was in his hand being slapped onto the desk as he relieves himself of his jacket. Not having that much to do until morning briefing, he sits down in his favourite seat and begins running over a few last minute pieces of parchment work regarding criminal extradition. |
Stepping out of her office, Evaline went toward the Magical Law division. She opened the door to the office and walked down the line of cubicals to the division head's office. She went up and knocked on the door. She better be in by now. She tapped her foot while she waited. She needed to clear up this matter as soon as possible before any more countries called to complain. |
Katherine Witt was sitting at her desk, glancing at the Daily Prophet as a knock lightly tapped on the door,"Come in..."She called. It was early in the morning, the time when there weren't usually any visitors. Katie sat taller as she waited for a response from the other side of the door. |

Evaline heard a voice come from inside the office to tell her she may enter. Good. At least she is here. She opened the door and stepped into the office and closed it behind her. She turned back to Katherine and began what she needed to tell her. "Hey Katherine, I just got a called from France about a problem with melting cauldrons." she stated and then added, "They want us to do something about the thickness and all. She looked at the chair. She figured this would take a while and decided to ask for a seat. "Do you mind if I take a seat, I need to brief you and all?" she asked to her. |
"No, No not at all, take a seat!"Katherine said, resting her chin onto her fist."Hmm...melting coldrons you say,"Well how thick are they now?"There was always a rare case that a coldron would melt but there must have been several cases before they took it here. "So what's all going on here Evaline?"Katie said casually. |
Lizeth walked into the correct Department this time and looked around for whoever was in charge. Finding who she was looking for, she said "Excuse me, I'm Lizeth McNeil, I got lost and ended up in the wrong Division. Sorry I'm late." It was here first day and she was already late. She felt stupid for thinking that working in the Ministry was a suitable job for a nineteen year old. |
Turning her attention away from Evaline she smiled,"Its fine, the ministry is huge. Just dont make it a habbit."Katherine smiled and stood up walking over to her,"I'm Katherine Witt, division head. So go on to your cubical and start on your work."Katie nodded to the girl."If you need any help feel free to ask anyone. Oh yes and Lizeth Welcome..." |
Lizeth smiled at Katherine. "Thank you Ma'am." she said before turning and walking away. She searched for her cubicle until she found the one that had her name on it. Sitting down in her chair, she dropped her bag on the floor and started to go through a pile of paper sitting on her desk. She could tell this job would defintely require some type of effort. |
Katherine nodded,"Yep...."She smiled, closing the door behind Lizeth and returning to her seat. Katie turned to Evaline,"So where were we?"She really hoped that the young ladie wasn't too young for this job, it was a difficult job and Lizeth seemed a tad overwhelmed. |

Finally the girl left, and she noticed Katherine seemed very calm about it. Interesting. She then turned back to Katherine and began. "Well. The cauldrons standard is three inches thick." she answered her question. "Supposedly this is to thin. Now I haven't heard if anybody elses cauldrons melting, so maybe they had faulty ones." she stated and then added, "but whatever it is, they are complaining to me about it cause we made the rule or something." Looking at her notes, she peeked up at her and asked, "With me so far?" |
Katherine let everything sink in,"So the coldrons are only melting through in France?"Katie asked,"Yeah keep going..."This struck her odd, only in France, her thoughts wondered if it was just faulty ones or a start of an outbreak throughout Europe, then she woundered what potions were exactly being made to cause this, if in fact that was the case. Watching Evaline study her notes over and picking the words to correctly get across the message she also noticed that she was confused about Katherine being so leanient with the girl, hopefully she didn't think that it was a usual thing, if it weren't the girls first day, the worker would have had to come back later. |

She then decided she would give some back groun info. "Right. Also, supposedly this was suppose to be handled years and years ago be some guy named Percy Weasley. Ring a bell? Well I checked into it, but nothing obviously seems to be done." she said and then looked up. "So does this seem like its urgent urgent or shall we wait a bit?" she asked. |
Delaney walked into her division, excited to for her first day of work. She had went out the night before and bought a bunch of professional outfits or well, ''professionalish''. Today she wore a bright red pencil skirt with a black blazer and black pumps. Her unruly blonde curls were tied back in a thick velvet bow. She strutted though the cubicals until she found her own. 'Oh no,' She thought to herself as she veiwed the white walls, This won't do at all.' She got out her wand and decorated the boring cubical with bright colours and designs. "Much better." She said to herself. Finally sitting down in her chair, Delaney pulled out her paperwork from her briefcase. She shuffled through the stack, finding the one she needed. She grabbed her pink quill and began working through it. |

Evaline listened to what Katherine had to say and smiled. "Right, All of that sounds good to me." she said and stood up. That didn't take as long as she thought, which was brilliant. She was hoping things would be smoothe and easy sailing, well sort of. Before she walked toward the door she just gave a little reminder. "Well just keep checking the inbox thread if anything comes in and I'll let you know if any calls come in. Feel free to update your staff if you like." She walked toward the door and opened it. As she walked out she gave a wave and said, "Thanks. See you around," and walked out back to her office. |
"Have a good day Ev..."Katherine smiled and looked down at the parchment on her desk, she scribbled a quick note, it read: -I would like to keep you updated on the current issues rising in France. Coldrons are melting with postions due to thickness. We believe it is just a faulty order of coldrons at this time. If any more Countries are to complain we shall take a law of thickness into consideration. If you have any questions or ideas, feel free to chat. Division Head -Katherine E. Witt Katherine walked to her door and posted the note, returning to her desk she glanced at several papers, then returning to her Prophet. |
Lizeth heard movement and walked out of her cubicle to see Katherine posting a note. She walked over and took a look. Hmm.. cauldrons melting. That wasn't good. She pulled out a piece of parchment and started jotting down notes on the way back to her desk. Maybe there should be a law regarding a standard thickness, but how would you get every country to agree on the same thickness? and then, depending on the material the cauldron was made of, the thickness could be thicker or thinner. She sat down and rested her head on the small empty space of her desk that wasn't cluttered with paper work or family pictures. She would think of something, she was determined. |
Alistaire, having buries himself on a dissertation regarding the misuse of enchanted Wine bottles in Russia, looks up from his desk as a note is pinned to the division head's door. With a flick of his wand, the words on the page scrawl themselves in front of him in mid air, the man having little time to walk over and read it. Oh just wonderful. He couldn't claim to be wholly interested in melting cauldrons, potions having never been of much use to him: but of course his job required him to take an interest. The words dissipating from the air, he turns back to his work, his attention closing to the world as he sinks into the parchment; figuratively of course. |
Katherine, already finished with most of her notes had disided it was best to make sure every staff member had attended today. She glanced at her list. -Alistaire Bashir -Kayleen Rawlen Grabbing her pen she crossed out the name Lizeth McNeil, she knew that Lizeth had come today. |
Chad continued his frolicing through the Department of International Magical Cooperation, looking inside the cubicles in the division. He waved to a few random people, not really taking much care to learn their name. He would in time...but that time wasn't now. He just wanted to be able to say that he went through the departments. Sniffing, he started up his happy whistling tune and now his eyes searched the desks for any apparent signs of peanuts. Those suckers were addicting. |
Delaney had noticed that there weren't that many people working in this division. She was sure not to let anyone down. She quickly pinned back a few stray blonde curls as she leaned over her paperwork once again. |
Katherine walked out of her office. Seeing a man, acting quite odd,"May I help you with something?"She smiled. Katherine had been sure that her list was needing updating but she had a feeling that this man didn't belong to her division. |
Delaney looked out of her cubical, when she noticed a man. It seemed he did not belong here. She bit the end of her quill as she watched the scene before her. |

"Excuse moi, Mademoiselle..." he tapped her shoulder lightly, "Mais, Do you, by chance have any peanuts?" He blinked and smiled, but then jumped slightly at the voice of another woman. Quote:
He smile turned to a sly grin though, it was apparent that this woman was thinking that he didn't belong here. "To answer your question, non, I do not need help avec anything. Just merely looking through...meeting les peoples that I pretty much have to speak with everyday that I have this job." He wondered if she got his drift, but just to make sure... "I am the liaison for the Department of International Magical Cooperation," he smiled and then looked attentively around. "Would you happen to have some peanuts on you? Juste wondering," he added quickly with a custom smile. "Back to my point originale...I do belong here. I may work in the minister's office, mais, you people are like my second family. I hope," he added unsurely. |
