I know where the thread is but I was under the impression that the details would be pasted into the appropriate posts in the new thread and that I wouldn't have to worry about inserting the Games & Sports details.


At the moment, I'm trying to get some of the G&S planned and organized (my department is SLOW) so the updated details in the new thread are important and I'm afraid that I might have my department take on a different department/division's responsibilities by mistake.

I am going to take up Tiff's offer on the first post and vent here. Because otherwise, I think I might honestly explode.

So, you see, there is this one guy who transfers department but he can't just move quietly - oh, no - he has to make this big scene and drag other RPers with him too. Now, I have no problem with that apart from the fact that he's doing it IN THE MIDDLE OF A MEETING. Were I would have thought it was obvious that there is to be NO CHATTING. Plus he never actually left, but RPed himself coming back anyhow.

GAH!

And what else? Well, my charrie's authority is now being challenged by a horrid Division Head (I picked the user 'cause she'd gooooooood but the charrie - ACK! She drives both me and Jake up the wall) and a slightly insane ex-girlfriend who seems intent on keeping her own and not listening to him.

I GET that it would make sense for the charries to have objections but this is their boss - I hardly think a workaholic would dare to challenge her boss like that. And even if she did, this meeting is important OOC as well as IC so if she had any objections couldn't she just save them for another time?!

ARGH! I just don't know how to calm them down since they are my two major RPers of the department. The others are all crying because the guy from above is moving departments. I need them to be on subject so that others are too - otherwise we won't get anything done!

Then this must be a misunderstanding between us because I was under the impression that you were going to put the details in the v.2 thread. That is why I didn't save the chat nor copy and paste my final details into the v.2 thread.

I have another service announcement that I hope to post in a few days . . . trust me, I was laughing so hard that I was crying.

I'm not revealing the final teams until the end of November. My secret.

I want to post this in here (and not the general absence forum) because I want everyone (who can't see the mod forum) understand why I haven't been as active as usual (and why I might vanish for 3 days at a time). One of my brothers is sick and is having major surgery on Oct. 22. My other brother has 3 kids and one of them is in the hospital again (she's only 4). So these are the RL issues that are distracting me and keeping me away from SS.

The DP is going to post some QWC stuff soon (gave Roro my stuff and told her to have fun with it).

Aug 20 - Aug 31: Department Heads meet with Minister Taylor
Sep 1 - Sep 30: Department Heads meet with their employees to share news and give QWC assignments
Oct 1 - Oct 31: Departments plan their roles and begin to RP preparations

Nov 1 - Nov 31: Departments implement their plans where appropriate
Dec 1 - Dec 31: Quidditch World Cup forum open
Dec 1st-19th: Campgrounds open for those with 'bad seats;' VIP tent for those with good seats
Dec 19th: Quidditch match takes place
Dec 20-31: Celebrations and RPing leaving QWC

YAYYYY! Two of my divisions who are involved in the construction are looking forward to this

I had a quick idea that I wanted to run by everyone--do you think that sometime in the future, we could set up some sort of Division Head Evaluation? I remember that us Department Heads were evaluated a while back, and I found that really helpful because it let me know what areas of my job I was doing well, and what areas I needed to improve on as well.

I thought it might be good to extend this to the Division Heads as well, because we seem to have a problem with a lot of them disappearing after a while, or simply not keeping tabs on their divisions. Don't get me wrong, we have some STELLAR division heads out there, but if there are heads who aren't maintaining their divisions, I think that definitely contributes to lack of activity in those threads. Even though it is our job to keep the activity flowing on our levels, we're also not superheroes and can't keep ALL of the divisions running by ourselves, which is the whole point of having the heads in the first place.

I think that one of the main issues is that Division Heads sometimes start to think that the really don't have to do much in the threads, and therefore they start to slack off a bit. If we evaluated them and let them know that they were going to be put on probation if their performance wasn't up to par, I think we'd definitely see a rise in activity for them. It's kind of sad that some of the employees need that extreme nudge to get back in the office, but we hired them because we know they can handle their job, and sometimes a red flag needs to be waved to let them know that if they don't start putting more effort into the Ministry, they could lose their job. I actually had to do this with one of my Division Heads a couple of months ago--they were consistly doing things I was asking them NOT to do and they were making their employees do all the work. Once I PMed them and let them know that that sort of behavior from a Division Head wasn't going to fly and if they didn't shape up, I'd have to let them go, they immediately stepped it up a notch and they've been a STELLAR Division Head ever since. For a lot of people this IS their first big RPG role and I think that if they knew that WE were taking it seriously, they might take it a bit more seriously too, and we'd get more activity out of the Division Heads as well as more people posting in the divisions

Lissy, I think the Div head evaluation is a great idea. Feel free to develop an evaluation form with criteria. Everyone can add the stuff they want to see on there and then we can implement it.

The QWC forum is built and almost every thread is in there with the exception of a few. It is still invisible. I plan to open it to ONLY the depts with jobs there right now (like construction crews and people putting the safety enchantments on the structure). The forum is divided into the Campground subforum (with 4 threads for tents) and the Stadium subforum (with 3 stands threads and the pitch, which is where the employees will RP them finishing construction and whatnot. The pitch thread will be closed shortly before the actual MATCH thread that Kay will create so as to avoid confusion.)

The campground threads will be opening December 1ish. But I don't want any non-working employees posting in the stadium before December 10th or so, just in the campgrounds. So I need to figure how we will convey this message clearly. Maybe we could get the workers to finish their RP by roughly the 1st and then I can close the whole stadium subforum. Make that the goal.

And, I said it in my last post but I'll say it again here...two of my divisions need to help construct the stadium

Here is a rough draft I created of the Division Head Evaluation...feel free to tweek it as you feel necessary I based a lot of the critera off of my OWN department and what I feel they should be evaluated on so if you have something else you want to add, please share it! I doubt it's perfect so I won't be offended or anything

In each of the following categories, you will be given a grade based on the following grading scale:

O- Outstanding; completes the task described in assigned category to the best of their abilities and goes above and beyond the required amount of work

E - Excellent; completes this task on time and to the best of their abilities

A- Acceptable; completes this task on time, doesn't do more than is required

P- Poor; sometimes completes task and sometimes doesn't, needs more reminders than necessary to complete said task

D- Dreadful; never completes this task on time, has failed to complete tasks more than once, etc.


Any grade resulting in a P or lower on THREE or more of the following categories results in probation. If you find that you are placed on probation, you will have one month to come back into the Ministry and become active once again, and if your level of activity and participation increases, you will be taken off of probation and you will continue your job as Division Head. However, if your performance does not improve during your one month probation period, you will be asked to step down so that another employee can take over.

1. Contributes to the Accidents and Catastrophes planning thread in the Division Head Retreat forum on a regular basis

2. PMs employees to keep them updated and informed on the Ministry wide plot as well as plots that are specific to their division (or updates the Plot Updates thread on their level, if applicable)

3. Actively tries to keep plots moving in their division, and attempts to keep activity moving in their division even when they are in between plots

4. Completes all tasks for the Ministry Wide plots on time to keep the timeline moving, and contributes WITH employees to finish all plots

5. Actively works with their Department Head to plan plots for their division when we are in between Ministry Wide plots

6. Informs Department Head of any absenses they may have, difficulties with completing a plot on time, etc.

7. Keeps tabs on activity in their division and lets the Department Head know if they are in need of more employees

Additional Comments from your Department Head:
Obviously number 1 needs to be changed for each department...five and one might be able to be smashed into one category, but I know that sometimes my employees don't really LIKE posting in the thread and prefer to PM me about plots...while I'd rather they post in the thread like they should be doing, at least they're plotting, you know?

I took the whole probation thing from that thread that Kris made "How to nudge your slacking division heads" so edit that to whatever you feel is appropriate as well
