| | | Thriftwood Manor
After graduating from the clutches of University Dia agreed to move in and share an apartment with her three bestfriends: Lizzie, James and Cameron. It hadn't been very long into the move that Lizzie ran into a very interesting girl, Scarlett, who was in a bit of a fix until her and her fiance could find a place of their own. Well...they had been meaning to move into a house soon anyway, especially with Dia's mother breathing down their necks to get their life into order. In an effort to please her mother and help a new friend in need Dia contacted her mother and asked her to fund Thriftwood Manor--the house of their dreams. Glad that her daughter was finally getting a proper place of abode away from Muggle London Allison happily paid the price and had the house handed over to them. Now with two knew members to their little 'family' the boys must try to learn a little thing called civility and a few lessons in manners that Lizzie has been trying to teach since the day they met each other in the halls of Hogwarts. Will the move draw them closer or show them that it really is time for them to go their separate ways after over a decade of friendship?
Will all the new relationships developing cause dissension among the friends? Can Dia and Lizzie handle the women that the boys bring through the house day in and day out? Can the boys take things seriously long enough to realize that they can't keep messing with every relationship that starts to blossom for the girls? Will Scarlett and Chris Hawkins survive living in such a chaotic household or will they decide to just try their lucks back on the streets after just one month of childish pranks and inconsiderate gestures?
Thriftwood Manor, the things of dreams...step inside at your own risk. Characters:
Dia Thriftwood Lizzie Courwell Cameron Grail James Pickerton
Friends who stop by or spend some time at the manor: SIDE STORY: can't edit the title but bear with me Arisa has left Hogwarts and is not too sure what to do with the rest of her life. Still with her parents she tries to figure life out as much as possible. Can she survive her chaotic parents and a lonely house? Quote:

"We've definitely got our work cut out for us," she continued as she bent down and examined a broken vase to her right. The vase looked like it had once been quite valuable- it must have been an antique or something. Looking closer, she found a few stray cat hairs in it. Asha smiled wryly. Must have been Artimus, she thought to herself. "It'll take a lot of effort, but I think we can get it done." She stood up and waited for Arisa to tell her where to start. As Arisa walked into the house behind her friend she felt a twinge of embarassment. It really was a mess and in fact she was almost sure that Artimus had done a bit more damage after she had stepped out. That cat was something else. It made things all the more awful after her friend openly mentioned that the place was a terrible mess. She sighed. "I know and the thing is I did a bit of cleaning up earlier but I think that bloddy cat might have done a number on this room after I left." Following her friends gaze to a broken vase on the floor she felt her skin crawl. O_________O That was her mother's priceless vase...
She swallowed hard. "You wouldn't happen to know any fixing spells for that would you...?" She herself had never been good at cleaning spells.

"This one might work," Asha replied, muttering a spell under her breath as she pointed her wand at the vase. The pieces mended themselves together, reforming the vase. It was impossible to tell that it had ever been broken. She stood up and smiled at her friend. "Good as new," she replied. "Should we take separate rooms and get more done at once, or tackle one room at a time and get them each done faster?" Either way, it didn't matter to her. She simply wanted to get the job done so that Arisa's parents wouldn't be angry with her.

She shot Asha an appreciative smile hoping she could see just how greatful she was that there was one less thing for her to get killed for. "You're the best!" She squealed as she picked up the vase and placed it back on it's stand. Now she was definitely saved seeing as most things were broken not dirty because she didn't know where she would have been able to find some of the things that her parents had scoured the earth in search of. "Ummmm let's both tackle each room...I'm not very good at fixing or cleaning spells and I'm pretty sure I'll end up coming to get you every five minutes if we take different rooms." That way they could move quickly seeing as most of the day was gone and her parents could have popped up at any minute.

As Arisa suggested that they both tackle the same room at once, Asha nodded and turned to the filthy window to her right. After muttering a spell or two under her breath, the window became sparkling clean. She straightened a picture to the left of the window that was angled just a bit too far, and stood back to admire her handiwork. So far, so good. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all. She then turned around to face the rest of the room.
Nope. It would be that bad. She smiled somewhat exasperatedly and headed to go siphon the dirt off of the rug in the middle of the room. The rug, which she guessed had once been white, was now a not-so-lovely shade of mucky brown. Asha got on her hands and knees and began to pick the major clumps of dirt off of the carpet. Those could simply be thrown into the wastebasket. Now she had to clean out the stains themselves.

In times like this there were only a few people you could count on and clearly Arisa was one of them. She watched her tackle the little messes with awe. It was official. "Before you leave you have to teach me a few of those." Then her mother would never have to bother her about cleaning her room again, she would just wave her wand and everything would be fine while her brother would have to continue doing it the old fashion way. Artimus strutted into the room and took a look at a very familiar girl. He'd seen her before somewhere...meh, he had seen everyone at some point in his life. He stopped in his tracks when he saw that she was cleaning his work. he had worked hard to get thhe place looking like it was. He meowed a complaint up at Arisa.[/COLOR] "Oh no you don't," She told the whiny little cat. She knew exactly what he was meowing about and she wouldn't stand for it today. Not with her parents on the way.

Dia looked to the door again when she heard a knock. Who could that have been. Not that she minded. If there was one thing she liked it was company. Hurrying to the door she threw it open without asking any questions. She grinned widely when she saw her pregnant friend standing before her. "Hey, glad you could make it!" Lizzie hurried down the hall after Dia. Ugh, how many times had she told her that she couldn't simply throw open doors without first finding out who was on the other side? Seriously?! Even children knew that. Not like Dia cared; she welcomed everyone and everything. At the door she was about to give her friend a lecture when she caught sight of a friend that she had not seen in ages. Oh Scarlett! Hi! So glad you could make it! Well don't just stand there, come in, come in." She said, gesturing for her friend to enter.

I'm hopelessly unorganized, so they'd get quite angry with me. A few of these spells would fix up the room in no time, and they'd have no reason to be upset anymore." Her roommates had all cornered her at one point in time, holding her at wandpoint until she gave in and agreed to clean up. While their backs were turned, she'd muttered a few spells under her breath, and suddenly the room was sparkling clean.
As Artimus meowed at Arisa, Asha smirked. "I bet he's mad at me for destroying all his handiwork," she said with a slight chuckle. The cat certainly didn't look pleased with the improvements they'd made to the room.

Seeing as she hadn't known any she had had to clean everywhere meticulously in order to keep her mother happy...not the easiest feat--but hey! Now that Asha was here the place would be spotless and her mother would be soooo happy that she wouldn't even care that she had gone out and gotten Artimus. "With you here I'll definitely be able to pull this off!" She was getting all hopeful and excited about it! When she heard her friends comment she scooped him into her arms and stroke his fur--but only to distract him from the clean room. "Pay no attention to him. He's gotten me into too much trouble for him to really have a say right now." She said, rolling her eyes animatedly. How rude. Did no one care about the plight of a cat anymore...? Why he had half a mind to--oh...that actually felt good..."puurrrr" all was forgiven...for now.

Asha snorted as Arisa picked up the cat and rolled her eyes, making some comment about how much trouble he was in. "Shall we continute?" she asked, gesturing to the still messy room around them. Without waiting for a response, she repaired a cracked picture frame that was hanging from the wall and fixed a broken statuette. Things were actually moving along fairly quickly- they'd probably be able to have everything done before Arisa's parents returned home! She kept cleaning, hoping to get everything done in time.

Artimus didn't care who this girl was. She was not nice at all. He had worked so hard on his beautiful mess and with one wave of some magic stick and a few spoken words she had fixed everything. He hissed at her. "Whoa, easy there Artimus, she's a friend remember and she's here to help clean up your mess before I can get killed for it." She told her overly sensitive cat. He didn't seem to like when anything but his spot in her room was clean and that certainly couldn't work.
She followed Asha through the house cleaning and straightening as they went along. As the last vase was set right she threw herself down in the couch and tried to relax. This cat had been enough trouble but at least they were able to get everything done. She smiled over at her friend. "Like I said, you're the best." I beg to differ.

Asha snickered as the cat hissed at her. Seeing that Arisa wanted to continue cleaning, she followed her friend, casting cleaning charms left and right. It actually didn't take as long as she thought it would. But now she wasn't sure what to do. "Good- the mess is cleaned up now. So what should we do?" she asked Arisa, looking around at the nearly spotless room. Seeing that Arisa had thrown herself onto the couch, Asha came over and joined her, taking a seat next to her friend. "Aw, thanks," she laughed. "Always happy to help." Asha grinned at her happily.

"Maybe we could--" Suddenly Artimus sprang from her hand with a great leap and landed on a vase that was fixed earlier. "Artimus, no!" She shouted frantically but the cat had already brought it down. He ran over to the curtains and began running his claws through them. In seconds the entire livingroom was newly converted. She sprung to her feet and chased him as he left the room to wreak more havoc. "Asha, he's ruining everything, we gotta stop him!"

It was quite comfortable. In fact, she'd almost fallen asleep, until her friends' cry of protest made her sit up in alarm. Artimus was sprinting around the room, destroying everything in sight. Her eyes narrowed. I hate that cat, she thought, getting up quickly to help Arisa chase the cat down. "Where's he going?!" she shouted, as Artimus left the room and headed to who-knows where. As soon as I get my hands on that cat, I'm going to wring his neck, she thought, scowling as she looked around frantically for the cat.

People always chose the wrong time to visit. The livingroom was now a mess and she needed to catch the cat responsible so she could lock him up because he was allowed to wreak anymore havoc. When the doorbell rang again she sighed in annoyance then turned to Asha. "Grab him for me will you." She said before hurrying over to the door and swinging it open. She felt her heart stop. For a moment her voice was caught in her throat and she didn't know how to respond. Back in the other room she heard something make a crashing sound. "Arisa what on earth was that?" Her mother asked with a suspicious raising of her eyebrow. "You guys are home early..." Was the only answer she could give. They weren't due for another hour or so. She watched as her mother stepped by her and walked into the next room. Her father was still at the car. Oh great...

She saw Artimus sitting on the windowsill and looking around the room, probably plotting his next move. A smirk crept up on her face and she lunged into the room, pouncing to snatch him up. At the last second, however, he darted out of her grip and smashed into a vase of flowers on the table next to the bed. The vase broke with a loud crash, and Asha rubbed her head in the spot where she'd hit it on the wall. "Come here already, you stupid cat," she hissed, glaring at him.
Why couldn't he just make life easy and be lazy, like most cats she knew? Every other cat she knew just laid around and meowed occasionally. Of course, Arisa had to pick the one cat that didn't act like that.

Of course, Arisa had to pick the one cat that didn't act like that. Arisa watched with a pale face as her father made his way into the house next. She didn't know what she would tell them and in fact she was hoping for a bit more time to think that through with Asha but apparently she wouldn't be getting that time. "Don't close the door your cousin is heading in with our bags." He told her before hurrying off to the kitchen. She made her way up the stairs and in the direction she had heard the crash coming from. Throwing open the door she saw a very unfamiliar girl and a cat. This might not have bothered her were it not for the fact that one of her favourite vases now lay shattered into a million pieces on the floor. Before she could think straight she shrieked. "What is going on in here?!" She stormed from the room and back to the top of the staircase. "Arisa! You had better explain to me what is going on this instant!" She demanded. She was about to ask which of her cousins but then she heard that all too familiar shriek and knew instinctively that her mother had either found Artimus or his mess. With a sigh she dragged herself to the staircase. "Mum...I can explain..." Though really she couldn't and had no idea what she would say next.

As a woman who Asha took to be Arisa's mother opened the door, she saw the vase shattered on the floor and let out a piercing shriek. Grabbing Artimus quickly before he could do any more damage, she winced as the woman yelled at Arisa from the staircase. She quickly pulled out her wand and muttered a spell to fix the vase. Maybe that would calm her down a little bit. Gingerly, she picked the vase up and set it back in its original spot. It looked as good as new. Hopefully, Arisa could now talk her mother into calming down and they could have a rational conversation about Arisa's new cat.
Asha glared at Artimus. "If you were my cat, you'd be going straight back to the Magical Menangerie. You'd better be grateful that your owner loves you so much," she hissed.

Asha glared at Artimus. "If you were my cat, you'd be going straight back to the Magical Menangerie. You'd better be grateful that your owner loves you so much," she hissed. Artimus was about to make a run for the exit when he was suddenly grabbed by that girl from earlier. Was she..threatening him? He didn't take very kindly to that. Glancing up at her he curled back his lips and gave her a dreadful hiss to put him down. "Can you explain to me why there is a cat running around breaking things in my house??" Vivianne could easily overlook the stranger being in her house as she figured it must have been a friend of Arisa's but what she would never overlook was the cat that seemed bent on destroying her house. "Just when did you get a cat and why?" She demanded. Nevermind the fact that the girl had fixed her vase, the fact still remained that the cat was still there to break it again once no one was looking. "Uh...well you see what happened is..I kinda got lonely...so I went out and bought a cat..." Then she quickly sought to change the subject. "And um this is my friend Asha, by the way, she helped to get this place in tip top shape." Oh wait, she wasn't supposed to even hint that the place was a mess or they would never let Artimus stay! She looked to Asha quickly, hoping she had a better response.

She looked to Asha quickly, hoping she had a better response. Asha rolled her eyes at the cat's hiss. "Do you really want to get her in trouble? I suggest you stop that and stay still before I strangle you," she hissed back. She couldn't understand why Arisa loved that cat so much. Honestly, Artimus behaved like a monster. Of course, that could have something to do with the fact that she'd threatened Artimus, but that was still no excuse.
As Arisa stumbled around for an excuse, an idea came to Asha. "Arisa wasn't at home very much, so the place was fairly dusty. I came over and helped her dust everything up and make it extra-tidy so you'd be surprised when you came home...Surprise..." she finished, rather lamely. It could pass as a valid excuse. Possibly. If Arisa's mother believed it. Asha waited with bated breath to see if she and Arisa would get by with their fib.

If Arisa's mother believed it. Asha waited with bated breath to see if she and Arisa would get by with their fib. After hearing that little threat the cat reluctantly quieted down in the monsters arms. Trouble? He wasn't trying to get Arisa in trouble he was just trying to make himself more comfortable she she said and at the moment he was feeling restless. Arisa sighed in relief at hearing her friends quick response. She couldn't have thought up a better excuse herself! Now that was what you called quick thinking. She gave her friend an appreciative smile when she was sure her mother wasn't looking and mouthed a quick thank you. It seemed her friend was saving her a lot today. Vivianne sighed but decided not to make a big case of it. She wasn't very pleased about their being a cat running around her house but she figured she would wait until the guest left to explode. It was one thing to do that in the presence of family but in the presence of guest was simply inappropriate. She shook her head then headed to her room. When her mother finally walked away she breathed a sigh of relief and quickly took her cat from her friend who she was sure was itching to skin him alive. Such a shame, maybe the would get along one day. "Let's get downstairs before she changes her mind and decides to give us that lecture afterall."

Such a shame, maybe the would get along one day. "Let's get downstairs before she changes her mind and decides to give us that lecture afterall." Arisa mouthed a 'thank-you' to her, and Asha smiled back at her. Maybe all those years of having to come up with valid excuses for her mischief at home had paid off. Arisa's mother left the room shortly after she gave the 'excuse.' Asha grinned as she left. "I can't believe she actually bought that!" For some reason, she'd felt like Arisa's mother would see right through her lie. Maybe it was just her nerves getting to her. Yes, that had to be it. She hadn't wanted Arisa to get in trouble, so she was nervous that her lie wouldn't be believed.
Looking down, she realized that Artimus was still in her arms. She quickly held the cat out to her friend, saying, "Take him before I do something I regret." Alright, so she was being a little dramatic, but she was genuinely irritated at the cat. A little drama was certainly called for.

Alright, so she was being a little dramatic, but she was genuinely irritated at the cat. A little drama was certainly called for. Arisa chuckled as she took her cat. She led the way back down the staircase. "Somehow I don't think you'd actually regret any of it." It was no secret that the two didn't seem to get along and actually she found it kinda cute the way they had this love/hate relationship going. Okay so maybe for now it was only hate but she knew there was love.
She stopped suddenly and turned to her. "Oh and let me apologize before hand--my cousin's an idea! Don't listen to anything he says and the moment he starts talking about some kind of past experience just ignore him because it's a lie." She had to warn her before hand because Dustin could be an annoying, self-centered air-head.
And now that her friend was fully warned she could go down and ignore the idiot without having to worry about her friend carrying on a conversation with him that would give him the right to keep talking.

He was dying to see her beautiful face! |

Lizzie ordered, ushering the three through the back exit. Alex would be there any minute and they had promised that they wouldn't be there when he did. It was already after midday and the longer they stayed was the more likely he would show up and run into them. Not. Good.
Hearing very faintly a knock at the door she gave James a final shove then shut the door and hurried to the front room. Right before opening the door she took an extra second to compose herself and get her hair straightened. Okay, now she was ready. She swung the door open. "Alex!" She said with a wide grin before pulling him into a hug. She was glad to see him again.
