Have me a blaa-aast.

So, Hogwarts cuuuties Victoria Bunbury and Paulie Foster have kept their promise to Tori's BFF Taryn Hayden. And WHAT was the nature of this promise? Two words: blind date. ~~With THE August Goldstein.~~

Summer was now in full swing, so what better time for a date?! Paulie and Tori had arranged for everyone to meet up at a cool, little casual restaurant with a big outdoor seating area, AND waiters and waitresses who rollerskated to the customers' tables. Yes, it was quite a find, this place.

After flooing to their set destination, Paulie looked ahead, and his eyesight landed right smack dab on one of the talented rollerskaters bringing some whipped cream-topped milkshakes out to some customers. He was definitely getting a milkshake. They certainly didn't skimp on the whipped cream!

He finally swiveled his head from side to side, but there was no sign of anyone else yet. Hence, he randomly picked out one of the vacant tables and plopped down beneath the shade of the umbrella. The shade was very welcomed 'cause it was hooooooooot.

Ahh yes. That was more like it. Sure she may have not introduced herself like that but you didn't go around calling women you had just met by their first names. Lois smiled at Paule but didn't verbalise any further. The boy got the picture and there was no need to say anything else about the matter. At least her seemed to have some manners unlike a teenager she knew.

Oh dear. She should have seen this coming really. Arnie had told her about his thoughts of Paulie. "both are find careers" she didn't telly want he pair to fight. She offered her husband a smile as she took a drink of her eggnog. "I think Arne just thought maybe you would've gone for a more magical career considering your education" but then plenty of wizards graduated hogwarts and err losers so that was not always the

And now the pair were kissing again. Oh dear. "Victoria" Lois gave the girl a look. She wasn't being mean. Just saving her from her father who probably wouldn't be impressed at all. And she couldnt teally exaxtly tell paulie what to do so she just left it at that.

This time, Paulie was having Tori over at his house. Now, the Foster house was more like a cottage and the whole house was literally the size of one of the SMALL rooms in Tori's dad's house. But Paulie liked it, and it was only two of them, and it somehow suited them.

And his mum liked when Tori was over - probably 'cause she just liked having another female around, but Paulie wanted her to just mind her own business today, please. So, Paulie sat on the landing at the bottom of the steps, right by the front door, and absently examined, for the millionth time, the little model plane given to him by Adam as he ~~nervously~~ waited for his girlfriend.

Tori click-clacked up the walk to Paulie's, her little heels making QUITE the angry sound as she approached the "boyfriend" sitting out on the stoop. While she usually loved Paulie's adorable little cottage (it looked like a REAL home, not a museum like hers did), all Tori wanted to do right now was to huff and puff and blow the whole thing down.

"Paulie." She greeted him with a twitch of her lips. Hmmph. It wasn't fair that he could go DO things and make her MAD and be BAD at Hogwarts and still look so cute. Not fair at all.

Paulie didn't even have to look up from his miniature plane to know that Tori was approaching. Just by the sound of her heel-clicking walk, he knew she was MAD. It made him debate whether or not he should look up at all. But he had to at some point..? And even if she was gonna be all mad and stuff, he still wanted to look at her. It had been since Christmas, anyhow!

And so he looked up, and the long separation hadn't helped at all, 'cause now she looked all pretty and she was right there in front of him, and he had to force himself not to jump up and kiss her on the spot. He did stand up, though. "Hi, Tori." He was nervous, and not in a good way. It was like he was telling Adam all over again, except this was even WORSE. For once, he was sorta at a loss for words.

"You look pretty." Well, she did! She always did. Maybe the comment would make things easier. Or harder. He didn't know.

But she looked pretty.

'Don't you HI TORI me!' Tori wanted to yell, but then Paulie complimented her so she just tapped her foot and took a moment to think up a reply. She ended up wrenching the model plane out of his hand and instead shoved in the Aparecium articles she'd brought with her.

"I'm pretty MAD right now is what I am." Eyes narrowed, one hand went to the hip while the other put fingernail clench marks in the little airplane.

Okay, so compliments would get him no where right now. Note taken.

In the next moment, the plane that Adam gave him was snatched from his hands and some papers were shoved against his chest with such force that he had to take a step back to maintain his balance. As she made it very clear that she was pretty MAD, he took a look down at these papers. Ugh. The Aparecium! Paulie wagered that Taryn probably sent her these ridiculous things. He actually loved reading the Aparecium articles, just not when HE starred in them in a light like this.

"That stuff's always blown outta proportion, so can I just.... tell ya what happened? What really happened?" His forehead creased as he looked at her pleadingly, similar to how a dog peered up at it's owner after it had been scolded.

Under her stare, the guilt/anxiousness/worry that had been brewing inside him since the incident seemed to skyrocket, and the words began slipping from his lips before she could answer. "Me and Louisa kissed," he blurted. And it sounded so bad, actually WORSE because he wanted to just say it straightforwardly. He swiftly took another step closer to her so that he could take hold of her hands. "But Tori, I'm really, REALLY sorry, and I swear it was just spontaneous, and the only reason I didn't tell ya sooner was 'cause I wanted to tell ya in person."

Sure the stuff may be blown out of proportion--- Tori wasn't stupid, she'd read lotsa gossip mags before--- but STILL. It was all the news she HAD coming out of Hogwarts. Who was she to believe, the "cheating boyfriend" or the best friend/know-it-all paper thingy?

The redhead opened her mouth to reply but before she could say anything, Paulie was confessing like a nervous criminal trying to catch a plea bargain. Her facial expression went from angry to confused to just plain hurt in a fraction of a second, and then Tori adopted a neutral, normal, I'M-STILL-ANGRY-BUT-I'M-THINKING-face.

There was a long, long pause and then she pushed his model plane back toward him, releasing his stupid strong hands. "Spontaneous kisses are the worst kind," she mumbled, taking a step back. "Because they don't mean anything. Kinda like our relationship."

Tori took another wobbly step away from Paulie, her face cracking the farther back she tried to walk. Those shoes were pretty unstable though...

Paulie held onto her hands rather tightly. The look of hurt was CRUSHING him, and he stared at her with apologies written all over his face. He was usually good at coming up with words to comfort someone or wriggle out of trouble, perhaps, but what could he say to make this better? Nothing.

Despite his grip, she slipped her hands out of his, which triggered the plummeting of his heart down to his feet. He'd forgotten about the plane, and it fell to the ground without notice when she spoke. 'Kinda like our relationship.'

AHHH!

Paulie's heart raced. "That's a lie, Tori - how can you say that?!" Okay, given the circumstances, he supposed he DID know why she was saying that right now. He scrunched his eyelids together for a moment and shook his head. "I mean.." Ugh, semantics.

He combated her attempt to back away by moving forwards with every step she took backwards.

"Tori, please. Just.. I know I really, really, really, REALLY messed up, but.. please? It was a mistake; I wasn't thinkin', and just.. gimme another chance." PLEASE. He needed it. Otherwise he felt like he was gonna die right then and there.

Extending his arms a little, he reached for her hands again.

How could she say that?? She could say it... "Because it's TRUE, isn't it? Why else would you have kissed her? Curiosity? Most people put curiosity aside when they're in a relationship, Paulie." But evidently not him. He was Hogwarts' Head Boy. He must be ABOVE things like LOYALTY and CHIVALRY and TRUST. Was he a Gryffindor or wasn't he?

Tori felt so... betrayed, more than anything else. He'd broken her trust and tarnished his reputation as her Lemonade Knight. Forget lemonade - she was never ever EVER gonna drink that stuff EVER again. Just like how she was never gonna talk to him again. NEVER!!

Every step he took toward her made her only take one more back. "I don't WANNA give you another chance, you--- you-----!!!!" His reaching for her arms was the last straw, as she failed her hands at him desperately and ended up losing her balance on those spikey, teetery heels. Tori went crashing toward the sidewalk, thankfully landing more on her bum and her side than anything else. Still, the fall HURT, and instead of getting up, she just stayed there for a little while.

Then she started crying.

"No! It's NOT true!" Paulie emphasized. If their relationship meant 'nothing,' then he wouldn't have been going crazy with worry and guilt and all those other feelings since the day it happened! "I don't know, Tori, I just.... it just happened." Curiosity was definitely killing the cat now, though. And the horrible feeling in the pit of his stomach, the feeling that he was getting NOWHERE, was not going away. He worried more with every passing second. "I'm sorry." So so so so so so so so SO sorry.

She stepped away, and away, and away. She didn't want to give him a second chance.... His heart pounded against his chest. What did that mean?! WHAT DID THAT MEAN?! But when she swatted away and flailed at his arms, he saw her teetering on those heels. Like, REAL bad. And she was falling, and he grabbed onto her jacket, and her jacket slipped right through his fingers.

And she fell. HARD.

The tears came and his heart was aching like a freakin' ACHY BREAKY heart. He went to his knees beside her, and he screwed up his face and bit his lip. Seeing Tori like this was torture, and what was even more unbearable about it all was that he made her this way.

He spoke softly, quietly, but most of all, desperately.

"Please, Tori... I'll do anything."

If Tori weren't so angry right now, she MIGHT have listened closer and actually noticed the hurt and worry and heartbreak behind Paulie's emotional words.

"But what ELSE could just happen with her, ya know?" she had mentioned with a big sniffle.

Then the fall happened and Paulie was right there beside her, saying he'd do anything to make this better, to make it right. Being the Slytherin Princess and evil Bunbury that she was, Tori couldn't help but have a few wheels click in that ginger head of hers.

"Help me up," she demanded quietly, trying to wipe her eyes on one sleeve and only succeeding in smearing her eye makeup horribly. "I want to meet her." AND. "After you tell her I wanna meet her, you are NEVER to speak to HER EVER, EVER AGAIN."

She looked up at Paulie, looking like a pathetic redheaded raccoon, and held out her hands. "Promise?" Please? This was the ONLY WAY this could WORK.

What else? NOTHING else! "I know, I know," he said quickly, because Paulie couldn't really blame her for not trusting him right now. Back at school, he had tried to imagine how he might act if the roles were reversed. Like, what if she and August had kissed? .. He probably would have felt a lot like she seemed to be feeling. It was hard, though, trying to put yourself in other people's shoes.

She told him to help her up, and he immediately got to his feet and pulled her up with him. Noticing the smeared mascara, he lifted his hand and tried wiping it away with the pad of his thumb, not even really thinking about it as he did this. She wanted to meet her? Okay. Tori probably would have met her soon anyway, and Adam had wanted to meet--

Never to speak to her..?

EVER, EVER AGAIN.

Paulie's eyebrows scrunched up and his mouth opened a little. No more being friends with Helen of Hogwarts? No more making fun of her? Getting her into trouble? Ever..? Paulie wanted to protest, to persuade her that they WOULD only and ever just be friends.. but he knew better. And he knew TORI better. 'Cause all that would end up doing would be making him shatter any shot of staying with Tori, and THAT he really could not handle.

He'd said 'anything,' didn't he?

"Yeah.." he nodded a little, then momentarily looked down as he hooked his fingertips with hers. Then back to Tori's reddened eyes. "Promise."

Tori leaned into him a little as he wiped her tears away, the little action somewhat redeeming him in her eyes. He was always there to look out for her, wasn't he? Paulie couldn't have meant the kiss with that.... girrrrrl.... surely he couldn't have. Surely he deserved a second chance.

Besides, look, he was agreeing to her terms and everything. "Good," Tori decided with a solid note of finality in her tone. She hadn't missed his little shocked expression, so she added on to her ruling: "You can talk to her ONLY to set up the meeting thing with her, k? Then after that.... silence."

Cold, hard silence, for the rest of their liiiiives. Tori brightened for some reason at the mental image that gave her. This LOUISA GIRL would SUFFER. Somewhat. Yeah, yeah she would.

"So," Tori nudged Paulie a little, "are ya gonna invite me in or what?" She needed to clean up her face, after all!

Okay. Okay, so at least now Paulie's panicky heartbeat was getting under control. And Tori's angry face didn't seem to be surfacing any time soon, either. PHEW. ~~Although Paulie MAY have thought that angry!Tori was super hot. Maybe.~~

And then she added on anotherrrr official Bunbury ordinance. So, basically he couldn't even chit-chat with Louisa right before he told her that she needed to meet Tori and that he could never speak to her again. Which was even MORE cold turkey. "Ya know she's, like, my best female friend," Paulie remarked, but he said it in a VERY nice way, so as not to get her mad. He had to say it, though, because it was gonna be hard enough just cutting himself off from a best friend, ESPECIALLY since he lost his best mate ADAM to this stupid kiss, too.

Anyway.

Oh.. right, right! Inside. "Yeah, yeah.. 'course!" Paulie gave her a lopsided smile and moved back to shove the front door open for her. This, of course, triggered the chocolate lab that was Pudge to come scrambling to the door like a maniac.

Yes, Pudge, Fostbury was ALIVE AND KICKIN'.

Tori nearly whipped around and gave Paulie another ANGRY BUNBURY glare for saying that. But. Perhaps now was time to practice her Ice Queen freezing skills? She really didn't want to get so mad she cried again. ~~Let's face it, her makeup was ruined enough.~~

"August Goldstein is like, my best male friend," Tori mocked Paulie in a Valley Girl-esque voice. "But I don't go around kissing him behind your back, do I?"

She ignored him for the moment and instead focused all her attention on Pudge, the non-pudgy ~~dog~~ puppy who was blocking the door. "Haiiiiiiii Pudgyyyy!" she cooed, bending down to give him hugs and pets and giggles of appreciation. Maybe Tori should get a DOG for a boyfriend since her REAL BOYFRIEND was behaving like a DONKEY.

..No. Paulie's guilt shot up some more and he lowered his eyes to the ground. Hopefully that was a rhetorical question because he chose not to answer it.

Hearing her sudden change of tone, Paulie looked over to see Pudge soaking up all the attention she was giving him. Hmmph. After leaning down to pick up the model plane that was on the ground, the Gryffindor tucked it in his back pocket and moved over to the doorway that was blocked by the two. "Go on, buddy," he told the old, slobbering dog. When Pudge had finally retreated inside, Paulie took Tori's wrist and pulled her up so she was standing again. His hand slid from her wrist to her hand and he leaned in to kiss her lightly, just for a second or two. And it tasted like strawberry, and it felt right.

He pulled back. "I'm sorry, Tori." And he'd said it before, but he said it again. 'Cause he really, really was.

Tori noted that Paulie didn't answer, which was better for him than if he HAD answered. Good. At least he was learning something.

She gave the dog a little wave and was about to stand up when Paulie suddenly hoisted her up. Geez, what was with him grabbing her wrist these days? It wasn't like she was the one liable to run away or cheat on him... no, that honor belonged to him. Hmmph.

Her thoughts quickly went in the opposite direction with that kiss though, and of course she had to kiss him back. It was like their thing, duh!

"Let's just put it behind us," she muttered, dropping her gaze to the ground but giving his hand a squeeze. "You can't change the past, you can only change the future. Right?"

No more kisses with other girls, right, Paulie?

This is true.

They couldn't change anything that had already happened, but they COULD change the future. Very eloquent, Victoria. Paulie nodded his head. "Right." And he would make sure that he'd never screw up like this ever, ever, ever again. EVER.

And now since Pudge was no longer blocking their way.... "C'mon, Princess, I think we've got some lemonade in the fridge.."
