With the new year came an unexpected change in the staff. There's a new potions teacher and everyone can't help but notice how unorthodox she tends to be. Maybe she's not all that bad but the students can't help the suspicion that slowly creeps in. Things might have been better if they could point out exactly what it is about her that unnerves them but at the moment the only thing they have to go off of is her very famous saying "Pick your poison".
There is also something very unnerving about her jar that she keeps at the right hand corner of her table. Many have heard it bubbling but oddly enough they could all swear it's empty.
Why is it that they haven't learnt a single potion since the start of the term. Most important, who is Ms. Arscott and what does she have in store for them?
Okay guys so for this I'll need about six characters including myself to be the students that decide to find out what's going on. You should post a bio and until you do the character is not guaranteed to you. The only thing pre-determined is the characters names, houses and relationship but other wise feel free to be creative
A bit of background:
They are all fourth years and have been through a lot since the 1st year. At the moment the only functioning relationship exists between McKenzie and Adam. Aria and Eric have been on and off for a while and are currently off because she found him making out with a 3rd year during the first week back. Alexa and Carson have a kind of love hate relationship where everyone but them can see that they like each other. The snitch actually only tells on this set of students and this is because of a long standing rivalry between him/her (really doesn't matter) and Carson. Only 3 of them share a common house (Gryffindore) and that would be Carson, McKenzie and Adam. Aria is in Hufflepuff, Eric is in Ravenclaw and Alexa is in Slytherin (which made them distrustful of her for her entire first year).

When she found her now friends they were often distrustful of her and it took her nearly a year to earn their friendship. At current she finds herself in a love/hate relationship with Carson in which she can't stand him but at the same time she can't stay away from.

Ms. Arscott used to work closely with the law enforcement department at the ministry of magic but after a mission gone wrong she quickly turned to teaching. She grew up in a very liberal home and was told from a young age that she could do whatever her heart told her. It was a recent breakup with her boyfriend of 6 years that made her decide to take a teaching job at Hogwarts. Even she knows her methods are a little unorthodox but in her head that's the only way children will learn.

Alexa's outburst made Aria cringe. Not that she didn't agree. She completely did. It was just-this woman was clearly not one for discussion. As for the more disciplined students comment, Aria wanted to roll her eyes. This woman had no idea what kind of skills Alexa had in potions. Nor did she know what kind of skills anyone had. The professor's face when she saw Eric had pulled a pink slip made Aria nervous. What was that look? Why did she look so pleased about it? It all made the fourth year quite uncomfortable. She chanced a glance over at her ex and saw that he was looking back at her. Hm. She hadn't allowed such eye contact in a while. She gave him a nod before turning back to the front, not able to hold his gaze any longer.
Aria being the next in line to take a detention slip, she reached inside the container and also pulled out a pink one. She groaned inwardly, knowing how awkward this would be. Not only did she have her first detention...but it was with Eric. Her dad would be pleased. Perhaps it didn't necessarily mean she would be working together though, yeah? She handed the slip to the professor before reminding herself that she had agreed to let Eric try and be her friend. She had to start sometime...
And then there was Adam. Aria almost stood up when he walked in late, wanting to tell him to turn around before it was too late. Instead she looked at her best friend with wide eyes, shaking her head as a sort of warning. It was clearly too late though, he had already made quite the entrance.

You're just in time to pick your poison and join the people who must be your friends since you all seem to fall into the same habits. Come now, don't be shy--I haven't got all day. She added. The class needed to get started and these children were starting to annoy her with their defiance. Especially the one who felt she had freedom of speech.

Ahhh! The pink one, the choice of the day it would seem. She smiled in a satisfaction as the girl slipped the paper back into the cap. They most definitely didn't know what the colours stood for and if they did they wouldn't still have that look of hope in their eyes. Another laugh threatened to escape her lips as she thought that but she felt she had scared them enough for one day.
She noticed the brief look shared between Mr. chestton and Ms. Southland. If what she assumed was correct then tonight would be even more entertaining....she might even considered staying to watch. She would keep an eye one them, on all of them. the way they looked at each other rigth after getting detention told her that they were definitely friends and one bad apple was enough to spoil the whole bunch. That one bad apple being Ms. Cambridge. Fiesty and quite intriguing.

Eric cringed as he heard the creepy professor say that Aria had picked a pink paper too which means whatever he had to go through for detention, so would she. He really wanted this horrible potions class so he could just chill out a bit in a less hostile environment. He looked toward the wooden door he came in from. It was only a foot away. He quickly ran from the potions classroom and all the way out to the lake which was his favorite place at Hogwarts where he had his first kiss with Aria. He took a seat under a tree and realized what he had just done chucked but soon realized just how much more trouble he could be in and face palmed. At the same time he wondered if any of his other friends would have the guts to do what he just did, as stupid as it was.

So Adam had received detention too, that wasn't really a shock to Aria. Now it seemed that most of their friends would be enjoying the thrills of detention, some together. It figured that it would be her and Eric, what with her trying hard to not dump pumpkin juice on him and all. She sat back in her seat, looking at her hands, praying for the class to begin. The sooner it began, the quicker it would be over.

He didn't just do that. Oh no no no no! WHY did he just do that? Aria couldn't understand Eric's thought process, especially knowing how this professor was coming down on everyone who acted any way other than what she wanted. And now he had just run out of class?! This was bad. Really bad.

Ms. Arscott couldn't help the smirk that her lips curled into. From the moment she walked into the class she could tell that these children were certainly a special bunch but this...no she never anticipated one of them leaving right after she took the time out to lay out how she worked. It was almost as if the students liked getting punishment. Hm...it was a curious thought that she would have to look into. If they actually liked it then it wouldn't be much of a punishment now would it?
She shrugged then made her way to the front of the class. She rested the cap on the table next to the slow boiling cauldron then turned to the class with a different kind of smile. She was going to enjoy her class. She couldn't help but wonder if he would come back before the end of the lesson though...the smart thing to do would have been to come back and let her yell at him then think about not giving him any further punishment but most likely he would stay away then get a whole new detention. Oh the anticipation was delicious!
Alexa's eye went wide as she immediately looked over at Aria. Had Eric lost his mind?! As upset as she was she had no intention of bolting out of the classroom anytime soon. That was suicide. First off the teacher seemed even happier after he left which meant that she definitely had something on her mind and after this morning's rough start Alexa was beginning to think that there was nothing good on that woman's mind!
Aria's face told her that she was just as shocked by what had just happened. In fact the whole class was awe struck. Of all the stupid things he could have done he chose to run? Really? She shook her head, this wasn't going to end well, not at all. Even Adam had chosen too stay...then again he did miss the whole dictator speech...

With a burst of energy he botled from the room and all the way down the hall. When he got there something hit him and he knew exactly where to find Eric so he hurried over there.

If it weren't for the fear of getting slapped with another detention she would have screamed. How was this right?! Of all the people she could have possibly be stuck in detention with he had to be one of them?! There had to be a mistake. Just how many colours were in that hat anyway because everyone seemed to have gotten stuck with tha wretched colour and no clue as to what it would mean for them. This was just great, and to think she used to like Potions class.

Aria was just like...so confused and shocked at what was going on. How had ALL of her friends manage to get detention and together, too? It was crazy! And poor Carson...kid never stood a chance walking in late like that. Clearly Alexa wasn't pleased about them having to spend time together but Aria wasn't too sympathetic. If she was meant to be civil to Eric...Alexa could deal with Carson. She most definitely could.
With a frown, Ella opened her book and turned to page 487. She was actually glad they were starting. That just meant class would be over soon. And she couldn't wait to get out of here.

Carson just looked at the professor as she had a smile on her face, what did that paper mean? what situation? He was thoroughly confused as to what she meant by situation. "Professor what situation might that be? what did that paper mean? " he asked as he turned to page 487. He wanted some sort of explanation as to what he had just picked and what it meant. The professor should have explained it all before he actually picked the paper or maybe he should have asked her before. He looked at Alexa who didn't look to happy with what was going on.

The class passed by uneventfully with the students far too afraid to say very much for the entire session. An audible sigh could be heard when they were finally giving the okay to exit the room and head to the next class of the day, however not much talking went on in those either as the students still remained slightly traumatized by the maniac they had allowed to teach potions at Hogwarts this year. It wasn't until the following lunch session that anyone really regained their voices. Alexa being the first to break the ice.
"That woman has got to go! I don't know who in their right mind would have hired such a woman but this isn't right! She is by far the worst proffessor I'd ever had to be taught by and what's worse is that she has the audacity to just slap a detention on us!!!!!" At the moment she just felt like screaming and breaking anything that her hands or wand could get to. In one class her whole year had been ruined and now she had a detention with the most intolerable boy that ever lived. At least they all got stuck in the same detention but that didn't make things much better seeing as she didn't know what the detention would be. "Ugh! I wish something awful would just happen to her!" Even if she had to be the one to do that bad. Eric and Adam had been lucky to escape her class and now she wished she had done so too...even though it meant they now had a double detention.

We have to be smart about it though, I don't trust her very much and who knows what else she will do to us if we misbehave." Seriously! They didn't even know what their detention was going to consist of yet but it was surely going to be something unpleasant. "We'll all just stick together, yeah? I mean at least we have each other in the class..." Which was the bright side of this whole awful mess. "I only hope things get better from this point on...cause this term hasn't gotten off to the best start...and I'm going to be murdered for getting a detention." Totally murdered. Dead. Killed. Eric heard the giant clock within the castle area chime and he knew that meant clawas over and it was time for. He turned to Adam and said, "It's lunch time. Time to go see how everyone else us holding up and hopefully not run into that she beast. With that Eric got up and headed for the Great Hall. Their an array of awesome food lined every table. He also caught glimpse of Alexa amongst his other friends, He walked up to her just as she was talking ill of the she beast, he could not agree more. "That can be arranged", Eric said in his most menacing voice. He was the seccond best prankster of the school next to Adam.

Alexa scoffed at the thought of them receiving the detention for no reason; she knew it was even worse in Aria's case since her father expected some kind of impossible standard and there that woman had just gone and made things terrible. She missed her old professor. He was the greatest and he never hand out detentions as if they were candy.
