Anna sighed and unlocked the door with slight difficulty. She pulled the dust covers off of the furniture and collapsed on the sofa. She pulled Ad down nxt to her and hugged the coughing girl closed. She let her arms fall limply and she got up and opened the dusty window, coughing as dust blew in her face. She saw Alex appear down the dirt road and sighed in relief.

Alex looked at the boys then at his phone. He especially took notice of little Mikey. "Don't blame yourself. It isn't your fault" he told him, but he knew it hadn't helped the boy. He was still distraught. Even Alex knew someone was doing something to prevent Mikey from being happy or settled. He read the message from Anna and ran inside. Immediately, he knew which room she was in. Sure enough, she was there, unconscious.
