We quickly ran through the gates of Hogwarts and up the marble staircase to the dormitories. Smiling, us girls went to our dorm and Will to his. When i reached my bed i put the hairnet that Miss Walker had given me over my hair and changed into my nightrobes. "Wanna see my dress?" I whispered to Kira and B. They nodded and i went to the bottom of my bed to my trunk. I pulled out a t-length white dress. It had little white roses all over the top and the dress was all white. Kira smiled, "Its georgous" B said envyingly.

I didn't say a word when we were going towards Hogwarts. The ball was tomorrow but I still didn't have a date. All the quiddich games were yet to come so that didn't help me the way I though earlier. 'I guess I'll go alone then...' I thought to myself sadly. When we entered the gate which was closed right behind us I threw the idea of going alone right out of my head. By the entrance door stood a boy talking to his friends. He noticed me and smiled. I smiled back but I stooped the minute I realized it was a flirty smile. I felt I blushed. We went into the castle. You went to the great hall but I wanted to see that boy again. I told you I was going to the bathroom but instead I sneeked back to the entrence door and going over the last corner I bumped into someone. And it was that boy. "Hello!" I said gazeing into his silver eyes. He had black messy hair like me and he was in "Slytherin?" I asked in shock. "Guilty!" He said smiling "I couldn't say anything. I met a guy that I really like and he's in Slytherin! Why? "I was wondering if you have a date for the ball tomorrow?" He asked me. I looked at him puzzeled. I wanted to say yes so badly but I thought of what Stevie, Will and Kira will say if I went to a ball with a Slytherin. "I have to think about it!" I said coldly. "Well ok. I'll meet you here at 11 o'clock with you're answer." He said smiling at me. I couldn't help but smile back. I didn't say anything and walked towards the Great Hall.

I sat in the girls dorm with Stevie wondering what was taking B so long in the bathroom.
"Maybe she ran into Moaning Myrtle," I mumbled to myself.
"Stevie?" I asked and she tore her eyes away from her gorgeous dress. "Do you think.." my ears went red. "Do you think Will wants to go to the Yule ball with me?"

I had just come in when Kira asked that question. "Ofcourse he wants! He's just too shy to ask you!" I said giggling. "Listen you guys... I've got something to ask you..." You both turned at me "What is it?" Kira asked. "Well... A guy asked me to the Yule Ball. He's really cute and funny and everything but there is one bad thing..." "And what is that?" Stevie asked "He's a Slytherin!"

I couldn't sleep, how was I going to ask Kira to the ball? I had gone for a walk to the astronomy tower, yet was shocked to see I wasn't the only one. A girl with long, flowing black hair, fair skin and amazing blue eyes.
"Oh hi!" She smiled seeing me "You William Granger, right? From the Gryffindor team?"
"Yeah" I said smiling at her. "Who are you?"
"Oh sorry" She said "I'm Charlotte Corner, my brother, Niel is going with your friend Stephanie to the ball" I shook her hand.
"Yeah...so do you have a date, yet?" I asked. She laughed at me.
"I wish, I'm a third year, I'm not allowed to go" She rolled her eyes "it's not really fair...do you have a date?"
"Not yet" I sighed "But...there is this one girl I'm going to ask. She's my friend and-" I was cut off.
"ohhh" She smiled "And you want to me more then friends?"
"Yeah" I said nervously.
"But won't that ruin your friendship" She asked.
"What?" I thought "I...but she is already...I mean...I don't know..."
"uh huh...well, if you want to ruin your frealtionship with this girl because you don't have date, that's up to you" She smiled. I stepped back, I never relised what would have happened if Kira said 'no'. My stomach dropped.
I couldn't risk it. I couldn't.
"Wait!" I called "Will you go to the ball with me?" She looked as if she had been expecting it, and nodded her head.

OOC Will you said she was a 3rd year and could go? OOC

I smiled, "Oooh B your turning *pulls hand up to face like a microphone* bad to the bone!" I said as Kira started to laugh. "Stevie your a nut" She said playfully slapping my arm. "Is he cute?" I asked. B nodded, "well thats fine then" i said. Kira glared at me.

"So you don't mind?" I looked at them hopingly.
"Ofcourse not!" You both said.
"Great! I'll go tell him then!" I said happily running out of the dorm. I went to the entrance and that boy was already there.
"You're already here?" I asked him "It's still 15 minutes till eleven!"
"Yes but you are here too!" He said smiling.
I smiled. "Yes I am!"
"And?"
"And what?"
"Are you coming to the Ball with me?"
"Ah that! Yes I am!" I said happily
"Great! I'll wait near the Gryffindor common room at 6:15 then!" He said and turned to leave
"Wait!" I called after him. He stoped and turned around
"Yes?" He asked sweetly. I was about to melt. I was going to the Ball with him! I cleared my throat
"Whats your name? I'm Birgit!"
"I know your name! I'm Alex!"
"Ok, Alex! I'll see you again tomorrow then!" I said and he dissapeared over the corner. I felt like screaming from happiness. I desided to get some fresh air so I looked around to see if the coast was clear (It was 11.00 and bed time was at 9). I sneeked out and turned into a black dog and dissapeared to the forest

It was the next morning. I shook Stevie awake and she groaned, "C'mon you've got to get ready for Niel." I laughed. I decided to let her be and walked down to the Common Room.

ooc: It's the same as in GoF, they can go if a date escorts them (Ginny could go because she went with Neville).

"Morning" I smiled as Stevie and Kira sat opposite me. They where both looking rather tired.
"B's going with a Slytherin" Kira said osunding rather sad about it. I looked up over 'Charming through your fifth year' (a rather thick chamrs book) and said vaugley.
"Yes, I guess she would" Kira and Stevie exchanged looks. I rolled my eyes "Well...you would expect a girl like her to be attracted to the rebels"
"What?" Kira asked "Why would we expect that?"
"Because that's what she knows of her father, he was a rebel and she has always wanted him there...it's natural for her to want someone like her father" I smiled. Stevie looked between me and Kira,
"Well...I suppose you two both don't have dates now, so maybe you should-" She was cut off.
"What? I have date" I said defensivly.

I looked to Kira who looked as though she had turned a pale shade of green. 'Are you ill?" i whispered to her pulling her towards me. She shook her head no, and stood up. "Ill..well i'll get going up to...bed..yes thats right..bed" she said and ran up the stairs. 'Good Job" I said smacking Will on the side of the head playfully and went up the stairs looking for Kira.

She was sitting on her bed her knees pulled up to her chest. I climbed up onto it with her. "hey" i said with a smile. "I know whats wrong, and i think he's lying" she looked up to me. "I dont, he's georgous, of course he has a date" Kira said a tear running down her face slowly.

I sat alone in the common room, I felt rather bad to tell the truth. I thought I was doing the right thing, I was doing the right thing wasn't I? The potrait swung open and B walked in.
"Where have you been?" I questioned as she collapsed next to me.
"No where" B sighed yawning.
"No where? Then why do you have leaves in your hair?" I asked pulling some out. She smiled,
"You figured out that clue thing yet?" B asked changing the subject.
"I'm working on it now" I sighed scanning down a page "Heard you got a date"
"Yeah" B said simply "He's a Slytherin named Alex"
"Oh" I said raising my eyebrows "Alex! I went to primary school with him...he's...well, alright I guess, you could get worse picking from those Slytherins"
"Yeah" B laughed "Maybe a troll"
"A tr-...a what?" I said quickly.
"A troll" B replied saracastically "You know? Big hairy dumb thing that likes to hit us when where on our brooms!"
"I know what a troll is" I snapped "But I was almost in Slytherin!"

"He's hott Will" I said coming down the stairs behind him. He looked up and smiled. "Not you ding-dong" I said rubbing my hand across his cheek playfully. After breaking up, we had becoming more like brother and sister than bf and gf. I smiled, Well Niel, isnt wearing dress robes either, he's rented a tux. I've always wanted to do somehting like this, in the muggle world its called a...a..prod?" I asked. "prom" will said without looking up from his book.

"I don't know what Mc Gonagall will say about you wearing those" I sighed.
"She can deal with it" Stevie laughed.
"How's Kira?" I asked looking up towards the girls dormetry. I thought of finding Charlotte and saying I couldn't go with her, but that would be just as bad. I bite my lip, I often did this if I was thinking, nervous or scared, it was a wonder I hadn't bit it off.

"She's allright" I said with a smile. 'She'll get over it..I hope" I said a bit nervous. "Well the next task is in 4 days" I said with a smile. 'Right after vacation ends, you still have to find out what it means Will" I said grinning. "Me? Why not you?" He asked as i headed out the portrait hole to find Neil.

"So your not going with Kira?" B asked me with a slight frown. I shrugged not saying anything. I had already felt bad, I didn't want to say anything.
"Do you think she could still get a date?" I asked finally.
"Not unless one falls of the back of a truck" She shook her head "I'll go talk to her" Before she left she hit me on the head "You should have asked her!"

I headed down the hall when i heard a splash come from my left. I went over to the door and put my ear against it. more splashing. "Hmm" I thought and tried to push the door open. It swung easilly. I mouth fell open in shock as i saw a student in a overly large bathtub. I quickly shut the door without him seeing me and sprinted back to the common room to talk to will.

"Kira?" I asked steping into the dorm "You ok? I'm really sorry that he didn't ask you. Are you still coming to the ball?" I asked quietly
"No!" She said simply "But, you have to come!" I insisted "Why? I don't even have a date!" She said getting angry. Tears were flowing from her eyes. "That's no problem!" I smiled "Lets go find you one right now!" I said standing up. She lifted her head and looked at me "I'm sure there is someone who does not have a date..."

Stevie bust in and hurried to sit next to me, looking rather flustered. I didn't look up from my book.
"Will!" She said instantly "I just saw a boy in a bath!" I looked up at her quickly.
"You what-?" I said instantly.
"A boy! In a bath!" She pressed on.
"That's great Stevie, I'm busy working on this though, can't you go gossip to someone else?" I said looking back at the book. She took it off of me.
"No! remember last time? My Dad had to go underwater to hear-"
"-The mermaids song!" I finished her sentance "But...this has elvish writing on it, elves can't swim!"

I whiped a tear, "Okay.." I sighed as B helped me up. "Just, not a rebel." I laughed walking down the stair case with B.
We got to the common room and found Stevie and Will in a heated discussion.
"What's going on?" B asked.
"I just saw a boy in a bath!" Stevie said.
"Wha?-" I started.
"Nevermind that," Stevie went on, "you remember the Mermaids song? How harry had to go under water to hear it?"
"But it's Elvish." Will repeated, I turned away from him and nodded towards Stevie.

I noticed Kira was acting oddly distant, I felt a sick feeling and rather light headed.
"What happeneds if an elf goes in water then?" B asked. I thought for a moment, it was a very good question.
"hmmm...I think...I think they start to sprout leaves?" I said, although it was more of a question then an answer.
"Sprout leaves?" Kira said, still not looking at me.
"I'm not sure...I don't think so..." Somthing hit me suddenly, the writing on it. I had fgured out the first few words as I pulled the clue out "It reads...Your hearts desire, fate will show, take them to our..." I stopped "That's all I have figured out. The rest of the writing is very advanced, it changes from south elvish to east elvish and then to this wierd kind"

"What did you say?" I spat to Samantha as we laid on a green leather couch in the Slytheirn common room.
"Alex is going with Birgit Black!" She repeated "How can he go with that filthy, mudblood loving Gryffindor? I would end up vomiting before the night is out!" I smiled cooly.
"He must be planning to humiliate her or somthing...anyway, how is that clue thing going? We can't let them beatus again!" Samantha shrugged.
"I don't know! It's up to Norman to figure it out!" She said. I got up and put by jet black hair up with my hands.
"Oh well, I have to start getting ready for the ball!" I said. I had a long black dress with a 'V' cut down the front.

"Do you need any help with it, Will?" I asked him as he still looked at the writeing on the key.

"No" I said vaugley taking some notes on the last few symbols "You should all get ready for the ball, it's probably going to take you all a while..." I noticed that B and Stevie where looking at Kira, she hadn't a date.

"Ok then Me and Kira are going to take a little walk around the castle!" I winked at Kira. We exited the common room. "Lets go see the Great Hall first"

I took the piece of paper out of his hand " Our mountain of snow" I said, "Huh? How do you know elvish?" he asked me. "Never mind that, thats what is says, do we know what it means?" I asked.
