Melinda smiled wide when Chris said I love you back. They looked as if nothing had happened, as if she was not living in France and they were still in Hogwarts. But, that was an ilussion. She let out a sigh and looked at the fire. Laughing as well to the metaphore and magnetic personalities chat, metaphores was not her thing either, but well, it was a way to say that she would be no one without the Kaplans.

No words needed to be said, she just sat there, silent.

Chris sat there in the silence they only sounds heard was the crackling of the fire, and the two of them breathing. He looked over at Melinda and smiled. But looked back at the clock it was getting kind of late. Melinda would probably have to leave soon. But wait she said she was going to be there Christmas right? Well wouldn't it be easier to just stay here?

"Hey Mel." He said softly breaking the silence. "are you just going to leave and come back for Christmas. Or do you just want to stay here? It would be easier." He commented.

Staying there? Gulp..."Ah, I don't know...I have half a reservation in a hotel nearby here...but..." She didn't like it much, it was a cheap place, what she never went through in her whole life, not even at the orphanage. "I just don't want to annoy you and your family..." She didn't know what to do.

Chris watched as Melinda seemed uncomfortable with the idea. "Ah yeah that's fine if you don't want to stay here. I didn't mean to pressure you I just was trying to be nice and help you out. But it's really not a big deal if you don't want to. It would probably be awkward anyways." He told her.

Uncomfortable, akward. Yes...those were the words. Melinda nodded, though giving Chris a slight smile. She looked back at the clock, biting her lip. She knew it was late, for her it was hard to be around the streets of a place she barely knew...

"I think I shall...leave." She announced.

Chris nodded. "Alright but you're not walking there. And you can't apperate there because you don't know the place that well. Looks like I have to drive you." He told Melinda. "Yes I have a muggle drivers license. My dad made me over the summer get it blah blah blah." He said standing up. "Unless you don't want me to." He told Mel.

Melinda opened her mouth wide at such surprise. "Wow...that is sure interesting. I'm glad your dad made you take the driving license...or I'd be kidnapped by now..." She said smiling at Chris.

"A car ride...seems interesting, why not..." She commented and laughed.

Chris snorted quietly. "It's really not a big deal. Well at least to me. But if I do end up working in the muggle world that is something I need to know how to do." He said and shrugged. He then smiled and walked behind Melinda giving her a kiss on the cheek. "A girl as pretty as you does not need to be kidnapped." He said smiling. "Come on." He said as he walked out of the living room and went to the kitchen.

"Mum I'm going to drive Mel to the hotel she's staying at ok?" Chris asked.

"Alright just be carefully." Emily told Chris.

Chris then grabbed the car keys off the kitchen counter and walked to the door that went in to the garage which was right near the front door. He swung the keys on his finger as he waited for Melinda.

"We all need one. I got mine like...the second week after I arrived to Marseilles, it was a hard exam. French people make it really hard, mostly when it gets to remember the roads go backwards..." Sure...true. She just hated sometimes to live in Paris. She bit her lip as he kissed her cheek and called her pretty, letting out as well a giggle then a bit of distractiveness from going to get her things. "No opening the bags that I came with today, alright? Those are your gifts, but I don't trust the hotel with them, so I thought of bringing them here..." She warned Chris as she took her purse and her sweater to put it on.

"Have a good night, Mister and Mrs. Kaplan, you too, Nick!" She said, waving at them, already besides Chris and giving them a warm smile.

Chris chuckled when Melinda giggled and bit her lip when he kissed her cheek. "Really Mel? You really think I'm going to come back here and just open the bags to see what is inside. Don't worry I won't, I promise." He told her.

"Bye Mum, bye dad." Chris said to them.

"You too Mel." Charlie said smiling back to her.

Nick then got up from his set and ran towards Melinda. He hugged her. "Bye." He said still hugging her.

Chris watched Nick hug Melinda. "Alright Nick you see her tomorrow come on." He said making Nick get off of Mel. "Bye." Chris said one more time before walking out the door to the garge holding it open for Melinda.

He then walked over to the Volvo. "So what do you think?" He asked chuckling as he opened her door for her.

Melinda narrowed her eyes at Chris at the gift comment, but then became surprised as Nick went on to hug her. She hugged him back and smile. "Take care, hun...I'll be back tomorrow..." She told him and smiled, giving him a kiss on the cheek then letting go of him seeing as Chris just almost pushed him away.

Once the garage dooor open, Melinda saw an amazing car just there. Wide mouth open, check...drooling, kinda. "Volvo?...I think these are great as well. Unique, actually..." She said, looking up to Chris, then smiling.

Nick smiled wide when Melinda kissed his cheek. "Ok see you tomorrow." He told her then felt Chris pushing him away from her. He wrinkled his eyebrows and pouted at Chris. "Hey! what was that for?" He asked mad.

Chris tried not to laugh at the face Nick was giving him. "Sorry bud. It's getting late and as it is it's going to be horrible to drive on the roads. It's been snowing all day and I don't want to get into an accdient." He told him. "You can hug Mel all tomorrow if you want." He told him and chuckled.

Ok no way was Chris not going to laugh at Melinda's face. "Yes I supose it is a nice car." He said putting one hand on the roof of it.

"Chris...don't do that to Nick...and yes, he'll have the right to hug me all day tomorrow..." Melinda commented smiling to both really wide. "But your brother is right. We shall get going. I'll see you tomorrow and have some rest. Bye..." She said to Nick and hugged him again, letting go at instant, then going into the car.

Once inside the car, Melinda smiled at Chris. "Not because a cute kid from a book owns a Volvo, every cute guy has to own one...I like this car." Ehem, she was not going to brag about that Mustang she bought like three months ago.

"Alright alright. I'm sorry." Chris told Nick. He then backed away letting the two of them hug.

Nick smiled as Melinda told Chris not to do that and hugged him again. He then stuck his tongue out at Chris as he hugged her back. Ha ha. He loved having Melidna around she told Chris what to do and he listened. "Ok see you tomorrow." He said smiling when she pulled out of the hug. He then turned and walked back in.

Chris rolled his eyes at Nick and watched him walk back in. He opened the garge door and got into the car. He put this keys in the ignition. Vroommmm!! Chris smiled as he pulled out of the drive way on to the road. He then laughed slightly at Melinda comment."Here we go again comparing me to vampires." He said teasing her. "So Miss. Black what kind of car do you have?" He asked.

Melinda punched Chris's arm lightly. "Well, you're the one who mentioned a Volvo..." She commented and laughed, sitting straight on the seat and putting on her seat-belt.

Mel bit her lip, that question. "Well...I now tend to like speed...sorta. So, I bought a Mustang..." She answered.

Chris felt Melinda punch his arm he chuckled slightly. "Haven't you hit me enough for one day?" He asked.

"A Mustang. Wow." Chris said letting out a low whistle. "Really I never thought of you to be the one to like speed." He said. "But then again i guess that's why you liked my broom so much." He told Melinda. "So what is a cherry red Mustang?" He asked rasing an eyebrow.

Melinda gasped, "Hey, hey...the first one was accidental. You better put on that ointment I sent you for your bruises if you don't want any black eye by tomorrow." She told him. "But this one...is because you cause me to just talk about them, though...I know you can't be compared to Vampires...they have an evil soul, the ones in the book don't, but...anyways, You're so much better...and I love you..." She told him, dragging him into a lip kiss just a minute before the car motor started.

A gigglesnort, yes...you heard right, Melinda gigglesnorted at Chris's comment. "Well, now I surprised you, and well, the Mustang's colour is Blue, like Ravenclaw Blue, though inside you get the hint of the cherry red you said about..." She pouted. Chris really knew her, well...half.

"Umm so. You still hit me, but I know it was accidental and that's why I'm not mad at you." Chris told her. "Yes alright I will make sure to put that ointment stuff on again."" He said. Chris then laughed. "Ok so you're saying both times it was my fault. First because I tickled you, and now because I brought up Volovs?" He asked. "And I love you." He said smiling. Then felt Melinda bring him into a kiss still smiling he kissed her back.

Chris heard that noise. He laughed. "Alright so what the hell do you call that?" He asked. "Oh blue? Well I only guessed red because when I think of a Mustang I think red. But I should have known blue for you." He told Melinda. But then saw her pout. "Why the pout?" He asked.

"Aww, poor you...now, let's just get on the road. I want you to come back come and me being able to call you to know if you arrived safe." Melinda said, smiling at Chris as she stopped the kiss then cleaned the lipstick on his lips.

"Stop..." Melinda flailed and laughed. "I can't think of a Mustang without the cherry colour either, but I think Red seems so detectable...and blue is like the night...awesomes..." She commented and smiled.

Chris felt Melinda stop kissing him and clean lipstick off his lips. He chuckled slightly. "Why is it you always get that stuff all over me face?" He asked and laughed slightly. "Yeah we probably should." He agreed. He fastened his seat belt put the car in drive and gentely pushed down on the gas. He pulled out of the drive way and onto the road. "You better hold on tight." He said jokingly.

"What did I do?" He asked sort of confused. "No I think blue Mustang is cool. Red is to detectable and you are more of a person to have a blue car." He said also smiling.

Mel narrowed her eyes and giggled. "Aw...my bad. But I seriously can't go out of any house without wearing this chapstick, not with this cold weather." She explained herself and smiled at his chuckling. She got hold, tight as Chris said, though jokingly of course, to the seat. She wore that wide smile. She was safe...she was still in love. Sigh...

Mel didn't want to make any more excuses, so she went right to the point. "I gigglesnorted...weird. I know...but it came natural and I don't know why.." She said. "Yep, I'm a blue person...and I just like it. I might bring the car here next summer...but I have to fix a lot of papers for the transition of countries, so I don't know. And you'll get to see the speed of that machine...I'm scared of it, sometimes..."

"It's not a big deal. If that's the price I have to pay for kissing you well I'm fine with that. Chris said smiling. Though he wasn't looking at Melinda-he of course was looking at the road-he saw out of the corner of his eye her holding tight to the set he laughed. He then noticed the wide smile. "I love that smile." He commented more out loud then to Melinda. "So if the hotel I'm thinking your probably staying at should be right around here." He said looking out the window trying to find it.

"Ok a gigglesnort? I have never ever heard of that one, but I guess that's what it was." He said. "Really? Ah man that would be awsome. Yeah but all that paper work and suck so if you don't I would understand." He said nodding. "Wait your scared of your own car? Wow Mel maybe I shouldn't get in that car with you behind the wheel." He said teasing her.

Blushing, yes. Melinda was blushing once again to Chris's words. First the kiss comment, then the smile. "Yours is the one I love..." She responded and smiled at him, though focusing on the road on where to turn. "Turn left next corner, the hotel shall be there..." She told him.

"I'll try to bring the car. You'll love it." She said, though giggling about her little scaredy moments inside it. "Yes, speed kind of makes me scared, but I figure after a while that it's the adrenaline...the excitement of going fast. I wonder...if I could run the car...but it'd be too dangerous, of course..." She said, totally dropping the idea. No way...

Chris also smiled at Melinda's comment. But then heard where he was suposed to turn. He nodded. "Ok." He said as the corner came and he did what Mel said turned left. Of course she was right it was right there as she said. He pulled in and parked the car. Chris cut the engine and looked at Melinda. "Soooo." He had no idea what to say.

"Oh will I? I probably will I wish I could have a Mustang but of course I can't which I'm alright with." He said shrugged slightly. He then heard Mel giggle this made him smile wide. "I can't believe you bought a car that your scared of driving." He told her. "Umm yeah that would be kind of dangerous." Chris said agreeing.

It was akward, to say just good night...after just telling each other a good bye after so many months. Mel bit her lip as the car stopped the engine and looked at Chris. "I guess...this is a good-night..." She told him, letting out a giggle, thinking of what previous.

"Why can't you?" She asked, sort of confused. "You can always work and save up for one..." She kind of let out a low whistle for that comment. She was only joking.

"Me neither, but as soon as I saw it at the agency...I just loved it..." She said, remembering that day.
