Danton held the handle of his wand between his teeth in deep concentration as he stared at the color of his potion. It had to be perfect before he could add the final ingredient unless he wanted to start the seven-month-long process all over again. Squinting at it thoughtfully, he nodded, removed his wand from his mouth and gently placed a single beetle's eye in the exact center of the cauldron, whispering dead words as he waved his wand over the concoction.
Almost instantaneously, the air above the cauldron began to crackle, smelling like burnt atmosphere. A dark spot seemed to appear in Danton's vision. He rubbed his eyes with the back of his sleeve, but it remained, becoming larger. When it was the size of a snitch, the young wizard realized that it wasn't a black spot in his vision but a black spot in the world. An empty space, as black as death, grew and stretched before him. He smiled to himself and let loose a call of triumph that echoed through the empty basement laboratory. It had worked! The portal was opening!
When the portal was the size of a small doorway, Danton stuck his wand in his back pocket and climbed through.
_____________
This story started out as a fanfiction, but I never did have the inspiration to finish it. It is, however, one of my better story concepts, if I say so myself.
One November 22, 2106, Danton Latimer Gethin disappeared from his basement through a portal. What was on the other side of that portal remains uncertain, but the young boy was different when he returned. With darkness in his eyes and his soul, he set about a series of events that would throw the world into a chaos that hadn’t been seen since the time of Lord Voldemort.
Now, as I’m sick of my RPs failing and being abandoned, I’m going to take a different approach to this one. I’m not going to play any of the characters. I’m going to RP as the plot line. (For anyone who LARPs like I do or plays DnD, I’ll be more of a Storyteller or a Dungeon Master.)
As a result of this decision, all of the available characters are good guys. I will play all of the characters that are evil. I think this will help keep the RP alive because it means that all of the players are working toward the same goal as opposed to against each other. So, if a couple of people quit, we won’t have four good guys against one evil one. And it also means there’s a LOT more people for everyone to interact with.
Also, some of the plot may be delivered to characters via PM. Not to everyone, and not all the time, but there will occasionally be things that characters may or may not want to share with their friends.
Now, this is a future RP, so we are playing with several descendants of the original canon characters. I’ve made family trees to use for this RP. They are here (The Potter/Weasley one is HUGE).
SPOILER!!: Family Trees: This WILL make your screen scroll
Fiona and Blaire are twins, as are Gemini and Genisis.
And, of course, there is plenty of room for made-ups. Especially if there is to be a romantic relationship, since the main characters are almost all related (though some distantly).
Hello there, your thread has qualified into our forum and you can now begin RP'ing as soon as you get some players. We would like to remind you of a few links which are here for your reference:

Spence! Oh thank Merlin! He was one of the only people she cared to speak to at the moment.
Considering his question, she wondered very briefly if she ought to lie and say that she slept very well but immediately dismissed the thought. No one could have slept well with the dream - nightmare? - she'd had nor with what had happened last night. Kelby finally shook her head. "Not at all," she admitted, surprised at how thick her voice sounded. Stupid tears! Stupid Prophet! "You?" she asked, finally picking up a piece of toast and buttering it with her knife, mostly for something to do rather than to actually eat it.

Izzy was astonished. By having the same dream, did it mean something?? she thought. "Hm... wow, I think this means something." she exclaimed. She had never had the same dream as anyone before, why now. Her hair changed to a curious chocolate brown. She HAD to find out what it meant. Then she heard Adelaide's voice. She turned around and saw Kalliope Malfoy, oh the brat, thought Izzy. She never really like Kalliope but Adelaide would set her straight. She saw Spence join his sister at the Gryffindor table. She gave him a wave and a small smile and turned back to Elodie.

Elodie still wasn't convinced. why would it mean anything? we're distantly related, could happen to anyone, right? "I guess it could mean something" she said thinking about what it could mean, AND WHO THE HELL WAS THAT RED HAIRED GIRL going all like, I wish Arthur could have met you or something like that "but what would it mean?because it just looked like the end of a battle or something" she said with a shrug.

Adelinde looked around the Slytherin table, almost daring them to say something about her parents. Kalliope Malfoy... that girl. What... was... she... doing? Addie clenched her fists tightly and as the girl did the explosion thing. Adelinde burst. She stood straight up and walked over to the girl angrily. She whipped out her wand and pointed it at her. "You were saying something?" Adelinde growled menacingly. Her pride was wounded. For her to be ridiculed like that?! This girl... was going to pay for that.
Nathan saw Kalliope Malfoy imitate an explosion with her hands and he instantly knew that she was mocking what had happened the day before. He was about to say something to her that wasn't very polite, but Addie who was sitting beside him, stood up and stormed over to her. He stood up and followed her but stopped a bit behind Addie. He knew that she could handle this herself and was here in case Kalliope's friends decided to try anything.

Spence, as you close the book and put it in your trunk, you swear you see someone out of the corner of your eye for a second, but then it's gone.
OOC: Everyone should now start to realize that Adelinde is standing up with her want pointed directly at her "kind of" cousin, Kalliope.
Kalliope simply looks up at Adelinde with mock-innocent eyes, despite the wand pointed at her chest and asks, "Why, whatever do you mean, Addie?" Her smile is so evil it makes your stomach turn. "I was just telling the girls--" she gestures to the girls around her-- "how... interesting this morning's Daily Prophet is."
One of the girls next to her giggles, but the others are staring at your wand and not moving. One has even moved over a seat so as not to be in what is sure to be a blast radius.

Gemini's eyes flickered across the room, taking in everything in the room. She saw that all her cousin's expressions were glum, some of them were crying. When her eyes crossed the Slytherin table she saw that Addie was talking to someone. But talking was kind of an understatement. Addie was standing and facing her with her wand out, they seemed to be having a heated discussion. Gem recognized the girl as Kalliope Malfoy. Gem was too far away too hear what she was saying, but she saw that the girl had an evil smile. Her smile was very evil.
Addie returned the evil smile, one much much worse. "You know what else would be interesting?" she said in an overly sweet voice, "A story about you being stuck in the hospital wing with every bone broken," she said in a promising tone. No one mocked her like that and if they did... no one got away with it. She turned her gaze over to the girl who had giggled. "Oh, so you think it's funny? We'll see how funny it is when you're bedridden," Adelinde growled.
"Impedimentra," Adelinde said as she shot the spell at Kalliope. She knew this was low, not even giving your opponent a chance to draw their wand before you shot at them, but Kalliope had been ridiculing her family and anyone who did that would have to pay. Addie would make sure of that.

So fast it should have been impossible, Kalliope draws her wand and cast a silent Shield Charm, causing the jinx to ricochet into one of the floating candelabras. The candles blow out instantly, and the fixture is knocked out of the air, falling slowly to the ground under the effects of Adelinde’s spell. Kalliope stands on her seat, her wand pointed directly at Adelinde’s throat and says, “You’re going to cross wands with me!? I’m the school’s Duel Club Captain and you… you aren’t even a real Malfoy. Who are you going to call family now, you orphan?”
She swings her wand in a circle above her head and cants, “Conjunctivus!”
OOC: This is a spell that will target your eyes, cause pain and temporarily blind you should you choose to take it. But feel free to dodge. We have some time. And everyone can get a piece.
Plot point: The teachers are currently not at their table. In fact, they seem to not be in the room at all.

Adelinde quickly cast protego. She wasn't stupid. "I'll do what I want," she said coldly. She wasn't terrible at dueling but she wasn't the best either. But then she was better at muggle self defense, no wands. "And you have no right to call me a fake Malfoy because their blood runs through me! And my family are my cousins, my friends," she shouted at her, "not followers, because you are a sad, sad girl with no friends," she growled.
"Arania Exumai!" she cast another spell at the wicked witch from hell. "And even though I am an orphan, I will never ever call you my family!" she said as tears came to her eyes as she thought about the death of so many, but she... was going to kill Kalliope Malfoy. That she wanted to do.

Muse of Xevis > | < Defender of Trearlonis > | < Elder of Gostrenac > | < Daughter of Eshoza
Kalliope just looks at you as you cast your spell. She doesn't move a muscle. Your spell is blocked, however, and she smirks as it spirals away into another candellabra. Next to her, a boy stands on the bench, his wand pointed at you, as well. "You have no right to the blood in your veins. Your mother was a blood traitor, your father was a blood traitor, and you are nothing." She laughs a little, then lowers her voice so that only you can hear her and says, "You're not even worth tracking down and killing along with the rest of your family."

Addie chuckled humorlessly. "What, can't fight your own battles?" she said as she saw the boy point his wand at her as well. "You see, the thing is that I do have the right to the blood in my veins, you're the one who doesn't, prejudices are long over and it's about time you noticed that, and after all, I believe the Malfoy's did have a hand in bringing down the Dark Lord, who was a halfblood," she said, "So in a way, you are a blood traitor as well," she said with a smirk. But when she heard what Kalliope said, she snapped.
Adelinde pushed Kalliope from her high pedestal on the bench and glared at her. Fists clenched at her side, she was going to pummel Kalliope and have her pay for what she said. "What do you mean by that?" she growled. What exactly did Kalliope know...?

Kalliope isn't expecting to be pushed, but she manages to land back on her feet rather gracefully anyway. Her wand wavers for a moment, but she quickly straightens it out and smiles. "Strike a nerve?" she asks, her voice going sickly sweet. She tilts her head slightly to one side. "Think about it, Addie. Your whole family wiped out in a single afternoon? Poof, like that. Either you're marked for extermination, sweet Adelinde, or you're not worth the time of the person responsible." Her voice lowers to a mock-whisper as she adds, "I like the think the latter."
OOC: Anyone who wants a piece is free to join in. I can modify this scene to be a small encounter or an all-out, school-wide, chaos-causing battle. I'm kind of hoping for the chaos. Mwahaha.

The second she heard Kalliope say that she was worthless for the second time, her hand raised almost by itself and it went, quick as lightning, across Kalliope's face. "Don't talk about my family like that... don't talk at all," she said quietly. Adelinde was almost trembling with rage. She was furious. Kalliope had better watch out...

When Nathan saw the boy stand up and point his wand at Addie, he walked forward and pointed his wand at him. "Don't even think about it" he practicaly growled at the boy. He knew that if the boy tried to duel him, the training he had from his parents would kick in and before he could even think of a spell, the boy would be on the ground, stunned and bound in ropes.
Muse of Xevis > | < Defender of Trearlonis > | < Elder of Gostrenac > | < Daughter of Eshoza
Kalliope's head turns to the side violently as Adelinde's hand makes contact and she keeps her face turned for several seconds before looking back at the other girl. Her lip is split and bleeding and she spits blood into Adelinde's face, making her look away for an instant, long enough for Kalliope to dodge around her and cast a silent spell at her side. Adelinde is sent sprawling across the floor.
At the same time, the boy who stood to Kalliope's defense is simply staring down Nathan, his reflexes at the ready. He doesn't do anything but watch him, ready to make a move is Nathan tries anything.

Adelinde's grey-blue eyes went dark. Almost a dark indigo color. She glares at the girl and wipes the bloody spit off her face from the ground. She pulls herself up the best she can, trying not to wince at the pain at her side. She didn't check to see if she was bleeding. She didn't do a thing, she just stood there giving Kalliope a frighteningly cold look.

Nathan stared at the boy who came to Kalliope's defence. He wanted to see how Addie was doing but he knew that if he looked away from the boy he would probably attack him. He suddenly grinned at the boy, 'Ah Well' he thought readying himself. 'I haven't had a good duel in ages'. When he had finished this thought, he suddenly fired a non-verbal stunning spell at the boy.
Muse of Xevis > | < Defender of Trearlonis > | < Elder of Gostrenac > | < Daughter of Eshoza
The boy doesn't flinch as the spell comes toward him and, when it gets to be around six inches from him, the red flash of light disappears and the air around him ripple slightly. His expression doesn't change, either--he still only looks watchful.
Meanwhile, Kalliope steps around the Slytherin table and stand over Adelinde, wand pointed at her chest. "People don't hit me," she says in a deadly calm voice.

Adelinde looked at Kalliope straight in the eyes. "Well, people don't touch me," she said in the same tone and her wand was pointed at her chest as well. She looked at Kalliope, almost daring the witch to kill her now, to shoot a spell at her.

He wasn't surprised. "No. I had the strangest nightmare." Spence felt a shiver run down his spine at the thought of the snake man. Now that he gave it some thought, it was rather obvious who he was. He'd heard enough about him in his life to recognize Voldemort when he saw him. "You were there." Spence mumbled, slightly abashed. Maybe it was ridiculous to wonder if she'd had the same dream as him. Even if it was... Spence felt he needed to talk to her about it.
He spotted the Daily Prophet in the hands of Kelby's friends, and, as he spotted the picture, Spence felt tears well up in his eyes once more. He looked away immediately, averting his gaze from the newspaper. Spence didn't want to read it. He already knew what the article would say. And he hated that everyone else knew. Spence didn't want to be pitied or comforted.
He didn't want to deal with people like Kalliope Malfoy either... but he was a prefect. It took Spence a bit too realize something was going on. However, it was kinda hard not to notice, what with falling chandeliers and flying cousins. "Be right back." he promised, hoping out of his seat beside Kelby. Swiftly drawing his wand, Spence marched over to the Slytherin table, across the room. "What in the name of Merlin's beard is going on?" he demanded, looking from Kalliope, with her split lip and a drawn wand, to Adelinde who looked ready to kill to the two boys next to them. "Honestly." he grumbled under his breath. Couldn't he go a few hours without a new conflict arising? And where were the professors when you needed them? Or the other prefects for that matter?

Right. Kalliope Nalfoy was ping to get what was coming to her. And she was going to get it hard, Blaire decided. Standing up, she walked silently to the back of the Slytherin table, behind the girl. She was pretty confident she hadn't been seen, and she pulled put her wand, training it on Kalliope's head.
'Stupefy!' she muttered, flicking it a little. She smirked and turned around, sure her spell had worked

Gem's eyes watched as the 'discussion' grew. She saw the two shooting spells back and forth. As their voices got louder she could hear some of what they were saying. She finally pieced together that Kalliope was insulting her family. Gem immediatly stood up, though she didn't know what she was going to do. Her eyes were blazing, and she knew it would take a long time to calm down. Then Kalliops sent Andelinde sprawling across the floor, and Gem's temper snapped. No one hurt her family.
Gem took out her wand and pointed it at the Slytherin table, though she still was unsur what she was going to do. "Avis," she said quietly. She had just been able to manage three birds, barely, and she hoped it wouldn't fail on her. Fortunately it didn't. Three small yellow birds popped up and Gem pointed her want at Kalliope. "Apugno." The birds went flying toward the Slytherin table.
Nathan stared at the boy in shock. He didn't see him cast a shied charm. Hell, he didn't even KNOW a shield charm that worked like that. He decided to take his opponent more seriously and sent a disarming spell and another stunner towards him.

Standing above Adelinde on the ground, Kalliope snarls, "Who's touching? Who'd want to?" She's about to say something else, when she hears a voice from behind her. She whirls around quickly, but not fast enough to get her wand up to defend herself. Her eyes flash wide and she takes a step back, but the Stunning Spell comes into contact with a Shield Charm from the Slytherin girl who'd been giggling at whatever jokes Kalliope had been telling earlier. As Kalliope steps back, however, she stepps directly into Adelinde, tripping over the other girl and landing on her back. She pulls herself to her feet, moving Adelinde out of her way.
"Attacking someone from behind?" She seethes. "I knew Longbottoms were low, but I didn't know they were that despicable. Confringo!"

Two of Gem's birds came into contact with the side of Kalliope's face, scratching her deeply across the cheek and sending her Blasting Charm askew, missing Blaire by inches. The third bird flew at the Slytherin girl who had shielded Kalliope earlier, but the bird disappeared the second it came within six inches of her. The air around her rippled as it did, at the same time that both of Nathan's spells disappeared when he fired them at the boy. Still, the Slytherin simply stared Nathan down, not moving.
Three more Slytherins stood up from the table, wands drawn as they watched their opponents warily, but not attacking them outright.
