"No I guess you're right," Liz said, "it still doesn't stop the fact that she's a hag that needs to die." She scowled, "I hate her to bits I really really do, I wish I could just... urgh!" There was so many things she wanted to say,b ut she didn't know how to put them into words.

Alice chuckled. “I say we walk straight up to her, admit we started it, and then hit her in the face with a pie.” She said, thinking about imitating one of those old muggle TV shows. “That would be rather amusing.” She shook her head. “Seig, you can come out now. It’s all over.” She looked partway under the table.

"Come on Seig," Liz said smiling before turning back to Alice. "Now the only question is, what type of pie shall we use?" She grinned. "I really do think I was sorted incorrectly."

Alice laughed. “Banana Cream?” She suggested out of the blue. “You probably were. I really wouldn’t be surprised.” She sat down again, brushing the food off her seat. “Did anyone notice no one is actually leaving?”

"I hate banana cream, so it would be quite nice to see it on the person that I hate," Liz laughed. "Yeah I think it's because no one actually wants to leave. Supposedly we're easier to torture individually, so starying as a group makes it harder for teh teachers."

Adrienne eyed the teachers' table. "I'd be surprised if she doesn't monitor the owl post to make sure we don't get food...and search the trunks. That woman is crazy." She half smiled and stood up. "Well, I might as well hide those brownies now. Anyone coming?" she muttered, pulling her Slytherin cloak back over her clothes. She supposed she should have been in her school robes, but it didn't seem necessary.

Alice stood up with Adrianne. “Oh, I’ve got the best idea.” She smirked, brushing off some residual muffin. “I made a hole in the floor last year for stashing ‘inappropriate’ stuff. I can make another no problem.” She looked at Liz. “See ya later. And hold onto those.” She nodded; making sure Liz knew she was talking about the remaining firecrackers.

"Duh," Liz said, "Look if Bennet or Desdemond come and search your trunks, notify me please," she said as she walked off towards her common room. "I need to know whether to hide my stuff or not."

Azure sat in shock as she listened to the Professors speak. Anger built within her at the news. She heard the voices around her fade into the distance as a pounding in her ears took control. Nothing reached her other than the cold fear that her writing would be lost to these new rules.

Azure remained unreachable by outside sounds and actions until the roar of a food fight built around her, shaking her out of her shock. She looked around noting the pettiness of those she was associating with a mere minutes before. With the shake of her head, she stood to head back towards the Ravenclaw common room. The last thing she heard from within the room was Professor Bennet announcing a food ban.

As Liz walked into the common room, she saw Azure an older Ravenclaw shaking a little. "Azure, are you okay?" she asked worriedly. She was going to hide the fireworks but that could wait.

Francesca poked her head out from under the Gryffindor House table. She had ducked for cover during the food fight. It seemed impossible that a bunch of wizards could be that immature, but alas it had happened. Wiping off a section on the bench, she took a seat and assessed the damage. She had never seen the Great Hall so messy in all her years at Hogwarts.

Hearing Professor Bennet announce that there would be no more food, Francesca looked forward in shock. She barely had anything to eat at the feast, and her stomach was rumbling. How could they do this? she thought angrily, teeth clenched. After a little while, she stood up and started towards the Gryffindor common room. She took one last look at the Great Hall, she didn't know the next time she'd be able to have a meal there. She hoped it would be soon.

Jade muttered a string of very fast Russian swears under her breath, one of which included a particularly nasty one about dessicated corpses and syphillitic camels that would have made her mother faint to hear her say. She imagined that she had some food un her trunk. After all, it was Russian tradition to send ungodly amounts of food with family members who would be travelling long distances. Grumbling the whole way, she followed Frencesca up to the Gryffindor common room.

Archer raised his eyebrows again as the cracker started whizzing toward the teachers' table, but didn't worry about being hit at all. He knew that this was the moment Lydia had been waiting for since the foodfight had begun. He took a last sip of his pea soup and leaned back in his chair to wait for the punishments to be administered, keeping his face perfectly neutral as he hid his enjoyment of Lydia's decision. Instead he put on a 'well-you-did-break-the-rules' face. Without a word to anyone else, Archer stood from his seat, turned on his heal and walked to the door behind the teachers table, disappearing with the sweep of his robes.

About half-way up the steps, Francesca realized she didn't know the new password. She felt badly because Jade was following her lead, and she was leading her to a locked portrait. Thankfully, a prefect happened to be walking up, and she stopped her and asked for the password.

By the time she reached the portrait, her stomach was rumbling, all this walking was making the hunger worse. Francesca wondered if there was any food in her trunks; she must have packed something to eat. She turned to the portrait and said "Antipodean Opaleye", and it swung open to reveal the warm common room. She forgot how much she missed that place. Rubbing her belly, she took a seat by the fire and closed her eyes, pretending this wasn't happening. A stray thought, particularly unusual for the passive, uninvolved Francesca, entered her mind. Something must be done.

Catching the portrait just as it was swinging closed, Jade made a mental note to ask someone what the password was later and walked straight up to the girls' dormitory to rummage for some food through her trunk. She came up with three portions of Droobel's Best, half a bag of Bertie Bott's, and a Chocolate frog from before summer holidays whose jumping spell had almost worn off, causing it to twitch more than actually jump, like it was being dissected.

She chucked the frog into the bin next to her bed and finally found what she was looking for. "Ah, pirozhki," she said gladly and pulled out a large container of the pastries. She opened the lid and breathed in the smell, but thought of Francesca as she did. Sighing as she remembered the girl standing up for her, she put the lid back on the container and stuck her head out the door. "Psst!" she hissed, trying to get the girl's attention.

Francesca heard a soft whisper. She jerked her neck around, but didn't see anything. "Bloody mice," she complained. The last thing she wanted to have to deal with was mice. She heard it again, this time louder, coming from up stairs. When she stood up, she felt dizzy from the lack of food. "We'll have food tomorrow, we must!" she mumbled to herself as she hiked up the steps to the Sixth year Girl's Dormitory.

She let out a sharp squeak when she saw Jade. "Oh! It's you. You gave me a fright!" she breathed. "That was you, then? Calling me up here, What for?" She walked into the dormitory for the first time this year. She found her trunk and things set up by her four-post bed. "It's good to be back," she said to herself. No matter what was going on at Hogwarts, she always loved being there.

Jade rolled her eyes grumpily at Francesca's ignorance of her presence, but smiled a little when she finally had the girl's attention. She stepped back from the door to let the other girl in and answer, with enthusiasm, "Pirozhki." For a moment, she stood there, then realized that the girl probably had no idea what she was talking about. She cleared her throat rather sheepishly and walked over to her own trunk, pulling out the plastic Muggle container her mother had obviously packed the pirozhki in.

She showed the contents to Francesca and said, "Potatoes end corned beef, if moy nose es smell correctly. Fresh from Moskva." Then she added, "Is for thankink you for earlier vith det boy from Hurfleduff." She took one of the pastries herself, biting one gladly, though her stomach declared that it was not yet satisfied.

Francesca politely smiled. She walked over to Jade and took a whiff of the mystery contents in the container. She made a face, it smelled weird, not something she would normally eat. But right then, she would have eaten anything. She grabbed a little bit of the food. "Thanks," she said, then took a bite. It was far better than she thought it would be. "Mmm, this is really good," she added.

She continued to nibble on the pirozhki, at least that's what she thought it was called. Her eyes darted around the room, it was virtually empty, just how she preferred it. Her mind wandered back to her home. Her two younger sisters would be getting ready to sleep by now, her younger brother was probably out with his mates. She wished they were magic, like her. Then they could all be at Hogwarts together, and she wouldn't feel so isolated.

Alice headed up to the girls dorm, collapsing onto her apparent bed. She paused, thinking they seemed harder than before. With a sigh, she got up and walked to her trunk, looking inside. Yup, there was food and potential ‘immoral’ items, including many kinds of fireworks, books, and strange clothes. She ran a hand through her hair, frowning. “This is good.” She muttered. With a glance over her shoulder and pushing the trunk to the side a bit, she sent a quick charm at the floor where her trunk was. The wood split, leaving a small hole in its place. She cleared away some more wood, setting it to the side. With another sigh, the stuff piled up inside and the wood was replaced, making the hole almost unnoticeable. She pushed the trunk back over top. It looked like nothing had been moved.

Adrienne entered the dormitory right after Alice, and sat perched on the edge of her four-poster. She flipped open her trunk and started rummaging through the bottom. Finally she came up with a plate wrapped in tin foil, and as she pulled back the wrapping the contents proved to be double-chocolate mint brownies. "They have to be banking on the fact that most of us brought snacks. I'm more worried about how to smuggle food in a few weeks. Until then," and Adrienne paused, her eyes lighting up again, "would you care for a brownie?"

Theo Runner fell back on his four poster in the Hufflepuff boys' dormitory and stared at the ceiling. He, unlike most of the other students, did not bring food, but he could not bring himself to care. His thoughts flipped back and forth, despondent but apathetic. It wasn't as though he hadn't gone without food before. It was more the fact that he might not be able to drink that was the problem. It was the threes, wasn't it? Three minutes without air, three days without water, and three weeks without food. It was a rough estimate, but he could bet that these students would start growing weak after a few days or so. They needed calories. They needed vitamins.
Personally, he was planning on escaping to Hogsmeade, and hopefully not get caught in doing so. Even if he was, painful punishment was surely better than death.

Elizabeth walked quickly up her dorm stairs and opened her trunk to find her chocolate that her mother had packed. "Yum," she said as she bit into the nice sweet. "Let's just hope that the horrible hag doesn't come in." She remembered all the firecrackers that Alice had given her, and opened up her jewellery box. Inside was a big space, where she then placed all the firecrackers.

Francesca finished up the food Jade had given her. She lay back in her bed, staring up at the canopy. She didn't know if she brought any food, she didn't know how long this food ban would last. Closing her eyes, she thought about duelling, one of her favourite wizarding hobbies. Many wizards and witches her age were enamoured with Quidditch, but Francesca had a passion for wizard duels. After Hogwarts, she planned on pursuing the activity professionally.

Opening her eyes, she looked over to Jade. "Do you know what you're going to do after Hogwarts?" she asked. She knew she would be coming of age this year, and the thought crossed her mind of leaving and settling down. But that was impossible, she didn't have the financial means to do that.

Alice nodded. “Sure.” She took one of the brownies. “I’ve got plenty of food we can share later. Hidden of course.” She gave a quick wink. Sighing, she sat up on her bed. “This is going to be a long year.”

Jade smiled, glad that Francesca had enjoyed the pirozhki and bit into another. She hadn't really been expecting the other girl to speak with her, since she hadn't really ever spoken with her and they'd been going to school together for some time. She looked over at the girl, who seemed to have a troubled look on her face as she considered the question.

She shrugged slightly and said, "Probably vork in de Ministry like moy father. He is Depar'ment of International Covoperation betveen United Kinkdom und Rossia. It is good job for somevon who speaks poorly English as me."

She paused for a few moments before adding, "I vould rather be in teachink, perheps. For helpink small children who are not showink signs for magic. Moy mother vould vish to see me es a Healer. I suppose dere are many things I could be doing."

Francesca rolled onto her side. She always had such trouble understanding that girl. She responded with an "Uh-huh." She pulled aside the curtains hanging over her bed to properly look at Jade. "Work for the Ministry, eh? Like all of this lot forced to teach us this rubbish here?" she replied, a little angrier than intended. Surely not everyone working in the Ministry was bad. Getting up, she walked over to the window, just staring out. It appeared like she was lost in thought, but she wasn't thinking of anything.

It was getting dark in the dormitory, and Francesca was bored. She started walking out. "Thanks for the food," she said to Jade. And she started down the stairs. Suddenly, she walked back to the room. "Your English isn't that bad," she said smiling to Jade. But then she walked back and her face returned to its standard expression, blank.

Jade had been about to respond when Francesca suddenly turned from her and began staring out of the window and she thought better than to interrupt. Some branches of the Ministry weren't all bad, and her father worked mostly in the United States as a liaison, but instead of saying this, she clammed up and let the girl do her thinking in peace.

She remained silent even as the girl got up to leave, looking a bit downcast, but telling herself that it probably wasn't anything personal and even smiled a bit when she was thanked for the food. She looked up when Francesca came back in to tell her that her English wasn't so bad and, though she left shortly after that, it had made the difference in the strange conversation for her.

Putting away the other half of the pirozhki for later in case the food ban lasted too long, Jade began to get ready for bed early. The longer she slept, the less time she spent thinking about how hungry she was.
