Victoire squeezed his hand, her attention turning towards the Headmaster as he called the attention of the student body. Her small smile faded to a frown, her jaw dropping soon afterward as his words sunk in. WHAT?! That was the single word that ran through her mind. Like the rest of the student body had done, her gaze turned to face the young man who had just appeared through the hall doors. It was definitely Teddy Lupin. Victoire had been hoping momentarily that the Headmaster was referring to a long-lost relative of Teddy's, perhaps even a person that coincidentally had Teddy's last name and was of no familial relation. But her hopes were dashed as she saw his trademark smile plastered onto his face as he made his way down the center of the hall, glad to have all eyes and ears directed his way. There was no mistaking that gait, even the aura that seemed to follow him wherever he went. And it seemed that he had chosen to maintain his natural curly raven locks of hair rather than scare the students with his metamorphmagical abilities. Victoire hadn't seen him since their split, which had been right before she had finished her sixth year. Her mind was jumbled as confusion and anxiety consumed her. Ted Remus Lupin strolled into the Great Hall, having heard the Headmaster make the announcement of his arrival through the doors. In typical Teddy fashion, he had decided to eschew the dress code and dress in his normal attire: jeans and his old trainers. The only thing that he had changed about his wardrobe was instead of having worn one of his many, treasured tee shirts, many emblazoned with quirky sayings, images, and band names, he had put on a simple, brown, ribbed sweater. He walked with a purpose, grinning at the student body as if he had just told the punchline of an extremely funny joke. Having finally approached the staff table and shaken hands with his old friend, the Headmaster, Teddy took his seat at the end of the table near Professor Sinistra. After the Headmaster had commenced the start of the feast, various plates of food appearing on all of the tables in the Hall, Teddy took to eating and occasionally chatting with his old professors. His eyes scanned the student body, his eyes lingering on the Gryffindor table as he tried to pick out a rather average-looking male with raven hair, a ginger female with her nose most likely buried in a book, and a pale, blonde female, who would most likely be wearing her trademark red lipstick that she had taken a liking to at the age of thirteen. The corners of his mouth turned downwards as he accepted silent defeat, for now. He began to survey the rest of the students, trying to pick out the first years that he would be instructing in flight and the athletes who he would have to referree at the Quidditch games. Victoire had barely even noticed the presence of food as her mind spun. She contemplated making a break for it now, but she would surely be spotted if she was to leave now while all others continued to eat. Victoire realized that she was working herself up as her hands began to shake slightly, so she took a breath, trying to calm herself. |
As the headmaster introduced the new professor, Matt's heart sank like a rock. Lupin. Her lost love. Almost as soon as her eyes fell on him, her hands started shaking, causing his heart to sink further, if that was even possible. Instatnly, the old worries of losing her flooded back, and his hands left hers, and fell to his lap. The food infront of him was suddenly unappatizing as he looked from Lupin to Victorie. He had to compete with THAT. He'd never had felt a slight twinge in insecurity before, but now, he was overwhelmed at it hit him square in the face. His eyes refused to meet hers. TEDDY!! Al internally shouted. His smile brodened as he saw his good friend strolling down the hall, like he belonged there. This was excellant. Now, he actually had someone to talk to, who wasn't totally boy-crazy. He made a mental note to go find him after the feast, before he went to talk with Alyss, and began to eat some of the food that had appeared on his plate. |
As Teddy continued to eat and converse like he hadn't just completely thrown a few certain students for a loop, Victoire's eyes were glued to the polished wood of the table. Why had he returned? What were his motives? Even though they had no longer spoken after their split, Victoire had heard tidbits about his whereabouts from her family. He was supposed to have been trekking all over Europe at the moment, taking his camera with him to take photographs for his new job at the Daily Prophet. What had caused this sudden change of direction? Victoire's mind could think of no plausible conclusion other than the fact that he might have come back for one certain female. Don't be vain, She chided herself. He left you. Why would he come back, and so soon? Victoire's mind couldn't provide a sufficient answer to the question. She lifted her gaze, barely noticing that the surrounding Slytherins had taken to eating while Victoire and Matt had simply sat speechless. Her heart sunk even further, knowing that Matt had just felt pushed aside by the sudden presence of her first love. "Matt," She began, her tone ridden with guilt, "I..." And of course, she trailed off. There were things that she wanted to say, but not in the presence of students and strangers. "Can we go outside into the Entrance Hall? It's a bit... chilly in here." |
Matt had hardly heard what she said before he got up and left the room. He couldn't be in there at that point in time. He felt sick, and his entire body started aching. He pulled the sleeves of his hoodie down over his forearms and stood in an empty corner of the entrence hall, awaiting whatever it was she was going to try and tell him. There wasn't anything she could say now that he'd believe. He'd seen the shocked, and somewhat happy look in her eyes when Teddy strolled in. And that hurt more then any pubch he'd ever recieved. There was a growing suspicion that she was calling him out here to leave him, and was going to run back in, and into Lupin's arms. |

Was that...? "Teddy?" she asked with her head turned to its side. It was him! But what was he doing there? Quote:
Did she just say that? What on earth had gotten into her? Since when had she actually said what she was feeling? |
Jay shrugged."I don't think it's that complicated." He said " I doubt missing each other had much to do with actually being together. I think it was nore the not speaking part." he said "you umm headed back to the castle?" he asked. |
Kyle arched an eyebrow, looking in the same direction she had. The name struck a bell in his head, and instantly, he felt a deep sence of pain. He glanced around the entrence hall, and spotted Matt not too far away, knowing that was where the feeling had come from. It was a weird thing they shared, even though they weren't identicle twins, they could still sence when the other was hurting. He looked back to Rose. "I've got to go." He said, smiling a little. "I had a great time today..." He gave her hand a gentle squeeze, before he leaned down and placed a soft kiss on her cheek. "I'll see you around, I guess." He let her hands go, and headed towards his brother who looked distraught. "What's wrong?" He asked, concerned. He'd never seen Matt looked more panicked before in his life. He was pacing, eyes darting all about the room, and he clutched at the sleeves of his hoodie. "And why is Lupin here?" "What's wrong?" He replied, pulling Kyle out of the view of students in the great hall. "What's wrong is Lupin. Victorie's ex-boyfriend... The one she apprently fell hardest for. He's the new quidditch ref, and flying instructor." He ran his hands through his hair and paced the floor. "I'm going to lose her." His voice was soft, and wavering. "I know it's only been a few days, but... I don't think I could deal with it. I can't lose her. I really can't." He stopped pacing and leaned against a wall. "What am I supposed to do?" It was rare for Matt to ask for relationship advice, but when he did, he was at a complete loss. He looked up at Kyle, eyes pleading for an answer. Kyle frowned, and shook his head. "I have no idea." He replied. "Love her better then he could? Show her that you're the better choice? Do whatever you have to, even if it means begging." He sighed, hating seeing Matt this way. "I doubt you'll lose her that easily. Just keep in mind... She's not Lex." He reached out and gave his twin a pat on shoulder. "Head up. Fight for her." He smiled a reassuring smile and let his hand fall back to his side. "I'll see you in the dorms, I'm not gonna stay for the feast." Matt nodded, and Kyle left again, heading down to the common room to do the homework he didn't do the night before. |
Ashley had merely flashed Jay a bright smile as he came over, taking a small step back. He had addressed Meg, and Meg seemed perfectly content with forgetting the other Slytherin was there. She finally decided to step out when Meg blurted. She took another small step away. "So, I'll just...leave you two alone. Yeah. Have fun!" she chirped brightly, turned and headed back towards the castle. Maybe she'd find someone to bug around there. |
Victoire had been meaning to speak to Matt, but she let Kyle take him to the side. He didn't look like he was in his proper state of mind, and for that matter, neither was Victoire. Her heart ached as she saw what pain that Matt was going through, all because of Teddy's presence. And for that, she hated him for returning, hated him for bringing back feelings that she had buried and had never intended to resurrect. Taking a look over her shoulder to make sure no one was there, she made her way into a side corridor. She was glad to find that it was empty, the Grey Lady passing through a wall as she noticed Victoire's presence. Taking a seat on a stone bench, she put her head in her hands and she attempted to breathe. She knew that Teddy's presence should have been treated no different than as if another new professor had been hired, but this was different. Teddy continued to eat, noticing a sheet of strawberry blonde hair passing through the great oaken doors of the Great Hall, closely followed by someone in a hood. So she was trying to avoid him, eh? No matter; he would catch her at a later time. And a moment later, he noticed a ginger girl pop into through the Hall doors, her face rather flushed. Just as she reached her seat at the Gryffindor Table, Teddy wiped his mouth with a linen napkin, dusting off his lap before making his way down the stone floor to speak with his family. The Headmaster wouldn't mind, knowing Teddy's social personality and his family ties. Coming from behind, he gave Rose a tight hug as he winked at Al from across the table. "Evening!" He spoke rather jovially, squeezing into a seat between Rose and a rather terrified-looking first year. "Haven't seen you two for ages. How's life been at home while I've been on my travels?" |

"Oh, that's right? You missed the beginning of the feast. Well, consider calling me Professor Lupin from now on," Teddy winked mischievously at Al before continuing. "I'm the new Flight Instructor and Quidditch Referree, so you'll be seeing me around more often." He grinned, glad to be around his extended family once more although someone happened to be missing at the moment. "But yeah, after the Daily Prophet sent me to travel Europe and take photographs, it got a bit... boring. So I quit." He braced for a scolding, especially from Rose. He knew it hadn't been proper to just up and quit, but he was an enigma and had always been a wandering spirit. He usually didn't tend to stick with jobs for too long, but he figured he'd try to keep this one for as long as he could, especially considering the familial benefits and the ability to make the rounds about his old territory once more. And if he could rekindle something once more, that would be an added benefit; although he didn't know how that would go by the Headmaster. "Anyways, what about you two? Still at the top of your class, Rose?" |

Matt saw Victorie enter another corridor and followed her once Kyle had left. "What the hell was that?" He asked, walking up to her. His voice was frail and trembling. "Did you know he was coming back?" He stood back from her, breathing heavily, attempting to fight back the urge to yell. "Are you going to leave me for him?" He said flatly. He didn't care how blunt that sounded, he needed to know now, so he didn't drag it on like he had with Lex. He wasn't going to let himself get hurt that way ever again. |
Victoire removed her blank face from her hands, surprised that Matt had still been in the vicinity. "No and definitelynot." She spoke rather bluntly, her voice almost a mirror of his. "I don't know what came over me, but it was just... it was just a shock, okay?" She felt her voice rising as she began to slightly tremble again, her instincts feeling a shouting match coming on. "I didn't mean to hurt you, alright?" She attempted to speak in softer tones, hoping that he would believe her. Victoire knew that she was over Teddy. But the sudden appearances of exes from hell, such as Lex with Matt, always tended to cause an onslaught of confused emotions. |
Alyss walked silently as she took in everyone's reaction to the introduction of the nearest professor. She was a bit taken back and all, but she didn't seem to care about the buzz it was causing too much. Perhaps it was a good thing as it would take some pressure off their house in the gossip. Shaking her head, she sipped from her goblet and allowed her eyes to scan the hall for any sign of a certain raven-haired boy or one of her friends. Her appetite was there, but she couldn't really bring herself to eat and she knew she still had those sweets in her dorm if she needed a bite later. Besides, she could always just head down to the kitchen after her rounds if she wanted anything. Setting the goblet back down, she ran a finger over its lip in thought as she kind of stared into space. |
Matt heard her voice rising, and took a step back again. She was clearly in no state to talk to him. "Ok, fine." He said, holding up his hands. "I get it." He sank down against the wall across the hall from her, his eyes meeting hers. "Just promise me that you won't let this come between us... Not after what happened earlier. And if you even start to feel something for him again, tell me. I don't want this to be a repeat of my last relationship... Secrets, and afairs." He swallowed thickly, feeling a lump forming, and tears welling up in his eyes. "Just please... Don't lead me on." Al smirked at Teddy, already creating a plan to split the new dream couple up. "Well, as long as you're happy now." He said, laying down his fork. He looked around the hall, and spotted Alyss not too far away at another table. She seemed to be taking the news of a new professor better then some. "How long are you here for... And are you still coming home for mum and dad's christmas feast?" |
Victoire bit her lower lip, her chest aching as she saw his reaction. "I don't intend to." Standing from the bench, she made her way over to where he sat. Kneeling in front of him, she gazed into his eyes, trying to hold back the urge to cry as his eyes welled with tears. "There's no need to worry. I love you, and only you." She gave him a soft, chaste kiss as she hoped that he would understand, hoped that he would feel a bit better knowing that she had made a mistake in overreacting. |
Matt kissed her back, holding her face in his hands. He pulled back slowly, looking her in the eyes. "I love you too." He said softly. There was nothing else he could say, really. The love of her life was in the room down the hall, someone who in comparison to himself, was better in every way. Older, better looking, had a real, respectable, well-paying job.. What was she doing? He sighed, his hands dropping from her face again, and rested his head back against the wall. This year had gone from overwhemlingly perfect, to complete hell in one meal. Great. |

Teddy smirked, his suspicions confirmed. "Nice one, Rose. I swear to Merlin, you and your mum would be twins if not for the age difference." He chuckled softly, his eyes twinkling as he was delighted to catch up with loved ones. "And I know, love, you're right. I'll think about it." He winked at Rose, knowing full well that her advice had gone through one ear and out of the other. Turning to Al, he began, "Well, I'm here for as long as I can stand to take Rose's advice." He gave her a playful nudge in her side before continuing, "Al, when do I not attend the Christmas feast? I think your mum would tie me up and drag me there if I even gave the slightest hint of my absence." He laughed lightly, picking up a golden goblet and sipping some water. Victoire felt elated at his repetition of those sacred words, but in her heart she felt that his tone had wavered, as if he had been questioning himself. Victoire wanted to speak again, to try to make it all better, but she had a feeling that anything coming out of her mouth at this moment would sound less than genuine and would possibly only serve to fuel Matt's suspicions. "I-I think I should head to bed early tonight," She spoke, standing as she took his hands in hers and helped pull him to his feet. They were so close together, but Victoire felt as if a distance the size of the Sahara desert had pressed it's way between the two during the past hour. And that distance, that desert was felt like a coming roadblock that had to be dealt with, was Teddy. |
Matt wound his arms around her, holding her close once again. He rested his head on top of hers, breathing in deeply. He didn't want to let her go, but knew that she'd probably want to be alone tonight, even though he wanted nothing more then to go back to the room of requirement with her and snuggle up with her in bed and sleep. "Alright." He sighed, his eyes closing slowly to fight back tears, before he reluctantly let her go. His hands slipped down her arms and held hers gently. "Meet me for breakfast?" He asked, a small, hopeful smile on his still trembling lips. Silently, he prayed to the gods that were she'd take him with her back to their spot, and sleep soundly in his arms again, where she belonged. Al laughed a little. "That's true." He said with a smile. "Mum wouldn't be pleased with you, if you didn't come. Though, she was somewhat worried you weren't going to this year because of.. Well... you know... The split between you and Vic." He said, discretely putting his new plan (operation Destroy-Matt-Tuck) into play. The quicker those two broke up, the sooner she'd see he wasn't good for her. of course, there was the risk she and Teddy, who was even worse for her then Matt was, would get back together, but he'd find a way for that not to happen. His eyes wandered over to Alyss again, then back to Rose, a devious smile on his lips. "So Rose..." He started. "How was you're date with the lesser of two evils, Kyle Tuck?" He asked. |
Victoire smiled, nodding as she spoke, "Definitely." Giving him a final, chaste kiss, she turned on her heel and quickly disappeared from the corridor, making her way up the stairs rapidly as she wished to fall asleep. It was unusual: for the past few nights, Victoire had only wished to be in Matt's arms as she had fallen asleep. But for tonight, she wished to be alone. Giving the password to a rather bored-looking Fat Lady, Victoire made her way through the portrait hole, up the stairs, into the dorms, and finally onto her bed. She sighed, quickly kicking off her shoes and changing her clothes before forcing her worries to cease, her trouble mind to calm, and her eyes to shut. Teddy sat as calmly as he had before, taking another sip of water from the goblet before setting it on the table. "Oh," He began, nodding slowly as he contemplated an answer. "It's really not too much of a big deal anymore. I mean, we were childhood friends who wanted to try being in a relationship together. It just happens to be that the relationship failed. But trust me, there's no hard feelings." Teddy's stomach clenched at this outright lie, although Al and Rose would never realize this through his calm demeanor. Teddy had come to realize that he should have never let go of Victoire. He knew he had been a sod and felt guilty, but a part of him hoped that Victoire would want to renew their relationship. Teddy wasn't sure of what course of action he wanted to take, but he would figure it out soon enough. "Wait, wait... two things. Firstly, Rose had a date?" He clapped her on the shoulder as he smirked. "So I see you've finally let your inner temptress shine through that bookworm facade of yours?" He laughed before continuing, "But what do you mean by 'the lesser of two evils?'" His eyebrows rose as a puzzled expression overcame his face. |
Al sighed, rolling his vibrant green eyes. "The Tuck Twins." He said flatly. "Slytherine purebloods, who'd rather live in the muggle world playing rock music then have respectable jobs in the ministry." He laughed a little, with a hint of jealousy. "The dark haired one, Matt, is currently dating Victorie. But if you listen to the Hogwarts rumor mill, he's dating, or has dated more or less every girl in this place. He's a bit of a player... Likes to use girls for fun." His eyes narrowed at the memory of his earlier discovery of what the pair had done while he'd been waiting for his date. He shuddered at the thought. "But the one Rosey here is seeing, Kyle, isn't so bad. Quiet, seemingly mild mannored. He seems modest enough, being who and what he is." He explained, looking over at Rose. "Personally, I don't mind Kyle. If you were going to date anyone I'd suggest him." His eyes turned back to Teddy. "I was paired with him in charms once. The guy is a welt of knowledge, he just hides it behind his 'tough guy' demeanor." Al yawned a little, and spotted Victorie running off up the stairs, away from Matt, who was standing there, looking hurt. Excellant. As Victorie ran off, Matt stood at the foot of the stairs, letting her go. It was clear that right now, she wanted nothing to do with him. And even though it broke his heart to do it, he let her go. When the sound of her footsteps faded, he turned slowly, and headed back to the slytherine common room, where he found Kyle playing piano for a group of adoring thrid years. He grabbed his guitar from it's stand, and took a seat beside Kyle on the bech, and played along. At least he still had his music to calm his mind. |
Alyss shook her head as she pulled herself out of her thoughts and glanced at her watch. Where were he friends at? She had wanted to catch up with Meg and Jay before heading out to do her rounds. She knew it would be a long evening and wanted to get a jump on it. With all her running around today, she had forgotten she had an essay that needed to be started for History of Magic and she needed to check in on her dragon fro CoMC. Flipping her hair over one shoulder, she picked up her water goblet again and took a sip as she scanned the Great Hall again. She spotted a certain raven-haired boy and a slight blush arose on her cheeks before she turned her eyes away to scan the room again. |

Al glaired. "Just perfect." He spat bitterly. He saw Alyss leaving the great hall, and figured now was better then never, and got up from the table. "I'll see you back in the common's Rose. It was great seeing you Teddy." He said before leaving the table. He left the room, catching up with Alyss quickly. "Hey." He said, falling in step with her. "I got you're letter." |
Alyss pushed her way out the doors after taking a final glance around the hall. She needed to get a move on for sure now. Turning toward the stairwell, she turned as she heard footsteps. A slight blush crossed her cheeks as she realized it was Al and he had gotten her note. "Hi," she smiled weakly as she bit her lip. "Um, that's good. I was afraid you might not get it." she added as they kept moving. It was a good sign, right? He was kind of talking to her still and he didn't look all that mad at her, but then again when had a boy being mad at her mean much to her. He's different, she thought. Yes, that was why it was important. She actually liked Al. |
Al shrugged. "Yeah?" He said, not really sure what else to say. "Well, this place isn't all that big. I'm sure it would have found it's way to mee eventually." He smirked a little and kept walking along with her. "So, what happened?" He asked, putting his hands in his pockets. "I waited for an hour, and when you didn't show, I left." |
Alyss bit her lip and nodded as she listened. She was foolish to think he wouldn't get it. She was probably more afraid he wouldn't read it and throw it away. Looking over at him, she nibbled on her lip softly and let out a tiny sigh. "But, you read it right?" she asked. Hadn't she kind of explained in there, maybe he just wanted to hear it from her. "I was shopping with Meg and then Ashley showed up and I lost track of time. I didn't think I would be there as long as I was and then I noticed the time, I left and you weren't there," she explained. This was rather new to her. She had never had to really explain herself before, but she wanted to. She felt she owed it to him. The old Alyss would have expected him to explain himself as she would have thought he was the one that stood her up, but she wasn't really that girl any more was she? She did want something different and maybe Al was just that something different that she wanted. |
Al nodded. "Yeah, I read it." He said slowly. He knew better then to solely rely on the written word. It was best to hear it from her mouth, so he could judge the truth himself. And as she spoke, she seemed rather dissapointed with herself, and that made him somewhat greatful. At least she realized what she'd done, and felt some kind of remorse for it. "It's alrigh." He said with a sad smile. "I didn't expect you to really show up anyway. Not for someone like me anway... Not when you've got guys like Matt Tuck and Jay Kelley all over you." He looked down at the floor under his feet, not wanting to meet her eyes. |
Alyss stopped and turned to him with a little bit of shock in her eyes. Did everyone really think of her like that? Did they think she was that vapid and shallow? Yes, she may have guys like Matt and Jay plus countless others all over her vying for her attention, it didn't meant she liked or wanted it. "Al, I told you I wanted to go and I wouldn't have said I would be there is I never intended to show." she said. She was mildly upset and saddened that he would think such of her, she thought she had gotten somewhere with him and he still thought ill of her. Biting her lip again, she shook her head and reached for his hand, giving it a slight squeeze before dropping it. "All I can say is I'm sorry about being late. I did show up and I can't turn time back so my apologize is all I can really give you." she shrugged as she started walking again. She really thought he saw she was different, maybe she was fooling herself. |
Teddy simply nodded, still maintaining a serene demeanor as Al gave him a bit of insight on Victoire's and Rose's love lives. From the sound of it, it seemed like Victoire had gotten herself into a fair bit of trouble. Teddy's stomach churned slightly at the thought of some idiot taking advantage of her. As for Rose, the guy sounded nice enough. It just seemed odd that one twin was an angel while the other was a demon. Teddy smiled softly, "Good for you, Rose. I hope Victoire is happy as well." He took another sip from his goblet as desserts began to appear on the table. After another moment of sitting and chatting, Teddy waved goodbye to Al and bid adieu to Rose. "G'nite, love. I think I must resume my place at the staff table." He gestured a thumb in the direction of the Headmaster, who seemed like he was ready to drag Teddy from the Gryffindor table at once and bring him back to his proper seat. Giving her a quick squeeze, he stood and found his way back to his seat. Teddy stared ratherly blankly at the students, some of them departing while others of them feasted on dessert. Tonight's feast hadn't just given him physical nourishment; it had given him food for thought. |
Al forwned a little, sighing. "I know, it's alright. I'm not bad at you... More so in myself." He said, still not looking at her directly. "I think I was more of a fool, thinking you'd really me interested in me." He continued along with her, not really sure where she was gonig. He didn't really care, because he just enjoyed spending time with her. |
Alyss stopped again as she heard what he was saying. Turning to him, she reached up and cupped his cheek. "And there is where you are wrong Al. I am really interested in you." she said as she looking into his eyes. "If anyone was being a fool, it was probably me." she added as she shook her head. She wasn't usually like this with boys, but she really did like Al. He wasn't like the other guys and she really liked that about him, plus she felt like she could be normal around him. Dropping her hand, she shrugged and continued on her rounds with him. |
"Oh..." He replied, slightly shocked at her statement. He didn't know what to say, never having been in this position before. Part of him wished that he and his cousins knew how the whole telepathy thing worked, because he needed advice on what to say, now. It was probably obvious by now that he liked her too, so saying he felt the same about her was a little redundant. And standing there in silence made him seem like an amature. Which he was. But she didn't need to know that right now. Hell, he hadn't even kissed a girl before. He took a deep breath, and continued walking, hoping she'd say something else, change the subject entirely... |
OOC: Figured since every1 else is moved on Jay and meg needed 2get 2the castle Quote:
As they made their way back to the castle Jay listened to Meg answer his question. " Date... Potter?" Jay frown clearly not liking the idea. In fact he was down right jealous of some unexplainable reason. But that detail would never never be freely volunteered. Meg didn't look to thrilled with the idea either which was a slight relief. " Who knows maybe she'll have a bad time and blow him off pretty quickly." Jay said as they walked up the castle stairs to the front enterance. |
Rose waved bye as Teddy left and then looked around. Where were her cousins? She was worried they were missing her and they weren't even here! Sighing she began eating her dinner. Quote:
|
Alyss continued her rounds starting from the ground level and worked her way up toward the towers. She hadn't said anything in a while, but she kept looking over at Al. Why hadn't he tried anything yet, she wondered. She really wasn't at all used to this and it kind of made her nervous. Boys were always trying something with her and the one time she was open to advances, this boy didn't even try. Was this what a true gentleman was like? She really wasn't prepared for that and didn't even know what to do. Turning the corner, she lend the way down the sixth floor corridor and headed for the stairs up to the towers. Stepping foot on the landing, she couldn't take it any more and took his hand, entwining her fingers with him. The silence was killing her and she needed to touch him. "So....I saw that Lupin is back and he's a professor. Must be nice to have him around again." she said. |

Al smiled inwardly as she took his hand in hers, glad to be past the awkwardness. He wasn't angry anymore, not at all. He was just happy to have someone to talk to, who wasn't completely crazy, like his cousins. "Yeah," He started. "It's going to be great with him around. I havn't seen much of him since he and Victoie split up, so this is wonderful." His devious smile came back onto his lips as more ideas of splitting his cousin and the offspring the the devil up. "Perhapse now that they'll be forced to spend time together in the same building, she'll see that Teddy.. Er- Professor Lupin... Was the better choice for her. And maybe she'll grow up and realize that Matt's no good for her." He sighed a little, looking around the hall. Kyle stopped playing, seeing most of their sudience had left for bed. He got up from the piano stool and flopped down on a couch, his eyes turning to his brother. "You alright?" He asked quietly, knowing the answer wasn't going to be good. "Not really." Matt replied, laying his guitar down. "I kind of feel like I got smacked in the face with a ton of bricks." He shook his head slowly and sat across from Kyle, knowing his twin would understand. "She said she still wanted to be with me, and not him. I just don't know how long she'll think like that." He sighed again and got up from the chair he'd been in. "I think I'm just going to go to bed. It's been a long day." He said before leaving the room. After a quick shower, Matt crawled into bed, glad that that day had been over with. He closed his eyes, unable to sleep as thoughts of what may happen ran through his head. |
Alyss nodded as she listened to him. She had hear about Teddy and Victorie split in passing, but she wasn't all that interesting in the details or anything. Slowing her steps, she looked at Al and frowned. "You know Matt isn't all that terrible. Okay, he can be a pain and all but he's pretty decent too" she said. Seriously, Matt was the one that kind of pushed her to write the letter and all. Shaking her head, she looked over at him and gave his hand a squeeze. "But maybe I'm biased since I've known him since we have been in nappies. We aren't as bad as everyone thinks we are. Sometimes we can seriously surprise you," she added. She wasn't sure if it was true for Matt, but she knew half the time she put up a front that scared others away just to protect herself. |
Al sighed. "I know people aren't always what the rumors say. It's just hard seeing my cousin with that kind of person though." He said slowly. "See, Kyle I don't mind. He's a decent person, who you don't hear a lot about, even for who he is and all. He's modest, and dosen't brag like Matt. The only reason I don't like Matt is because he's so bloody full of himself. If he didn't walk around like he's better then us all, then maybe he wouldn't be so bad." He sighed again and shook his head. He'd done all he could to try and make Vic see who Matt Tuck really was. But she wouldn't listen. There wasn't anything else he really could do, other then try and convince Teddy to take her back. |
Alyss sighed and stopped in the hallway, standing before him. Looking up at him, she gave him a tiny smile and took his other hand. "I know you are concerned about Vic and with the rep Matt has, I'd be concerned too. But like I said before, she's a big girl and she can fight her own battles." she told him. She kind of wished she had a cousin that was that concerned for her, but Scorpius could really care less about her. Of course, he would probably care if he knew she was with a Potter of her own will and enjoying herself. Her whole family would probably drop dead if they knew their little princess also wanted to kiss this Potter. A small smile graced her lips as she thought about kissing him, but she stored that thought away as she looked back at him. "Matt takes a lot of getting used to and I'm still not used to him, but you know he is kind of a friend of mine still." |
Al shrugged a little, smiling as she looked up at him. "I guess. Hopefully I don't have to get used to him." He laughed a little, shaking his head. "I don't know what I'd do if the pair ended up married. I think her father would go on a murderous rampage before he let that happen... But whatever. I can't see it lasting too much longer with them, not with Teddy back." He said. He was sick of talking about it now. As jealous as he was of his cousin for finding someone else so soon, and leaving him alone, he wasn't going to dwell on it too much. He met her eyes again, seeing something in them that made his stomach flutter and twist a little bit. The feeling of her hands in his only made it that much more intense. He wasn't sure what the next move should be, again, never being put in this situation before. He looked away again shyly, trying to hide the slight blush that had creeped up into his cheeks. |
Alyss shook her head and let a soft giggle escape her lips. "There is not real getting used to him, trust me. It's an ongoing battle most the time but it has become everyday for most of us, and we don't even really notice," she explained and nodded. "It's rather earlier to talk of marriage don't you think? We are all still kids for the most part and I'm any parent would go on a rampage if their children were to marry before they were at least thirty," she laughed. Her father would probably have someone's head if she spoke of marriage before she was at least thirty-two or something. Removing one of her hands from his, she rested it on his chest and[ shrugged. "You know, sometimes when you see that you might lose something you want to another, you are move willing to fight for it," she offered. It was the whole you want what you can't have and you realize what you have lost and want it back kind of thing combined. It sounded like trouble all around, but who was she to jugde. Looking up again and noticed something before he turned his head. Slightly brushing herself, she bit her lip and fully noticed the blush on his face. Awww that was adorable in her eyes and made her smile. Looking around quickly as she bit her lip, seeing that they were totally alone in the corridor now. She decided something and leaned up, kissing the corner of his lip and then pulled pulled away. "You know your cousin's are lucky to have you around caring for them." |
The quick brush of her lips on his only made his stomach tie itself up in a complete knot. Even as she pulled away, he felt his cheeks warm even more. "Yeah, I guess someone has to look out for them while we're here. I know Rose has a good head on her shoulders, but she's stubborn. And Vic's too blind for her own good." He shrugged a little, still unable to shake the softness of her lips from his mind. He met her eyes again quickly, and ignored all better judgement. His free hand reached up and lightly cupped her cheek, before he leaned down, gently pressing his lips to hers once more. Matt hadn't been able to get to sleep, and when he looked at the clock beside his bed and saw it was only ten PM, he groaned. His mind still raced a mile a minute, thinking about the whole day. Everything from waking up with the love of his life in his arms, to seeing Lex again, to what he and Victorie had shared, and finally, the new addition to the staff... who happened to be Vic's ex. Something inside him knew it was going to be ok, and that things were fine. But he knew better, having been in a similar situation with Lex. The more he though, the more he realized that if he'd have actually fought for Lex instead of ignoring the obvious problems in their relationship, he wouldn't have lost her. Not that he missed her. She'd been a poison in his veins that had come close to killing him. But now, he'd found his cure. And that was Victorie. And this time, he wasn't going to let something like what had happened before, come between them. This time, he was going to fight. This time, he'd do whatever it took to keep her by his side, where he needed her more then anything. |
Alyss bit her lip softly as she looked up at him under her lashes as he spoke. She could feel her own cheek start to heat as she nodded. "Well, for what it's worth, I wish I had someone to look out for me some times." she replied softly as she moved her fingers slight on her free hand, still on his chest. Tilting her head slightly, she sighed. "I'm stubborn and sometimes too blind myself, but I'm kind of on my own without family like that to care." It kind of saddened her but she wasn't going to dwell on it much. Feeling his hand cupping her cheek, she leaned into his touch and looked back up at him through her lashes. Seeing something in his eyes again, her stomach started to flutter. That was definitely new for her, but it wasn't an unwelcome feeling at all. She actually liked it and before she could think more about it, she felt his lips on hers and everything just stopped. Her thoughts were a distant memory and she just felt at that moment. No thoughts, just felt with her whole being what was going on. |

Victoire had fallen asleep, but her mind was troubled as the negative that boiled in her thoughts began to invade her dreams. She tossed and turned as she dreamt of herself in the middle of an overgrown forest, which she believed the be the Forbidden Forest. Gazing around, she trembled as she wondered which way to go, which way would lead her back to Hogwarts quickly and safely. Suddenly, out of the thicket appeared an acromantula. Trying to shake off her fear, she began to slowly back away as the enormous spider inched slowly closer. Not seeing where she was going, Victoire tripped over a large tree root as she fell onto her bum, and hard. Beginning to slowly crawl backwards, the acromantula kept inching it's way towards her. It suddenly stopped as Victoire saw its eight, egg-sized eyes gleam with fear. The acromantula itself began to back up slowly as it kept its gaze locked behind Victoire. Turning to see her savior, Victoire had to stifle a scream as she noticed a Hungarian Horntail thrashing its way towards the clearing, it's mouth foamy and dripping as it's tail lashed about wherever it pleased, knocking over trees and making pancakes out of shrubbery. Coming to her feet, Victoire began to head the other way before she realized that her initial pursuer still stood in place on it's spindly eight legs. She froze once more, waiting for the dragon to come and devour them both. But once the dragon appeared, it locked eyes with the acromantula, and the spider did the same. The dragon snorted, causing a loud hiss to come from between the spider's pincers. This made the Horntail roar, the ground seeming to shake. Victoire was stuck in the middle between the two foes and felt helpless. Unconsciously, Victoire gripped the sheets of her bedspread, her knuckles turning white as her mind tried to shake the nightmare. |

" It was." Jay answered casually then looked back towards the staff table when she mentioned quidditch. ' Looks it." Jay agreed as he made his way over tot he slytherin table and sat down. |

Al pulled away a moment later, his hand falling from her face. What he was supposed to say, or do, now was unknown to him. He glanced away from her for a second, trying to catch his breath, and calm his pounding heart. He smiled a little, taking her other hand in his once again. "So... Should we keep walking?" He asked, once again meeting her eyes. Kyle had left the common room after his brother had gone to bed. He wasn't tired in the least bit, and decided that a walk around the castle might help wear him out. Grabbing his hoodie from the couch, he made his way through the halls by himself, only his thoughts to keep him company. The main one being Rose. He had no idea where they stood on the relationship scale. Yes, they'd spent ample amounts of time together in the past couple of days. And sure, they did have an amazing time together. But weather or not she was interested in him was the question that lingered on his mind. It seemed as though she thought enough of him to spend an afternoon in a place she clearly detested, listening to him and his brother play music she probably didn't even like. But, what friend wouldn't do that for another? Kyle frowned a little, climbing the stairs the the main entrence way. Perhapse there were still people he knew up... |
Alyss closing opened her eyes as she felt Al pull away. She wasn't even aware that she had closed her eyes. Biting her lip softly, she felt herself blush even more. That was some kiss. Looking down at their entwined hands, she smiled and felt that feeling in her stomach again. Looking back up into his eyes, she nodded. "Yes...we should," she replied and she bit her lip again and lead the way. |
Al smiled inwardly, glad that they were once again moving along. As nice at it was, kissing her, being as socially awkward as he was made it difficult to keep a conversation going. He followed her along on her rounds, just glad to be in her presence. As they re-entered the entrence hall, he spotted Kyle wandering towards the door. "Hey." He called, looking around to see if Rose was with him. "You seen Rose?" Kyle's head snapped around, hearing a voice over the music blaring in his ears. He hooked out an earphone and smiled a little at Al, and.. Alyss? "No, I havn't.. I was actually just... looking... For her..." he admitted, walking towards the pair. "I needed to talk to her about something. But I guess it can wait." He looked the pair over, smiling a little more. Ok, so maybe he and Rose weren't the oddest 'couple' in the school. "What's all this then?" He asked lightly, looking at the pair's hands, which were still attached. "Dating a Potter, Alyss?" He arched an eyebrow, and knowing look in his eyes. After hours of tossing and turning, Matt finally fell asleep. Not that it was plesant. It was plagued with dreams and nightmares he had a feeling he'd never forget... He was bound to a heavy wooden chair, that was bolted to the floor in a cold, dark, damp room. His arms tied behind his back, and his legs cuffed to the legs of the chair. A thick blindfold had been tied around his head, obscuring his vision. He was panicking, breathing heavily and attempting to call for help. He heard footsteps walking across the stone floor, deliberatly slow, and dragging something heavy and struggling. There was a thud, and a pained groan, and finally, his blindfold was removed. Infront of him, bound at the wrists and ankles was Victorie. Her face was streaked with tears, and her eyes were riddled with fear. "Have you any last words for your lover?" a cold voice said in his ear. Matt felt his eyes welling up, as he struggled against his restraints to try and help her. He didn't say anything, as he attempted to break the chains that held him down. "So you don't?" It said again, laughing cruley. "You're just going to let her die, and not tell her you love her? Fool." It laughed again and stepped around the chair. The figure was covered head to toe in a jet black robe, it's hood hiding it's face. It pointed it's wand at her heart, and turned back to Matt. "You have thirty seconds to say good-bye. And then, she dies." Matt looked down at Victorie, who sobbed silently as she looked back. "I'm sorry." He said, feeling tears spill down his face. "I love you so much..." Matt swallowed thickly, trying to keep it together. "I promise, if I live, I'll kill this guy with my two hands. I don't care if I have to go to Azkaban, I will tear him to pieces for this." He looked deep into her brown eyes, watching the tears running down her face. "I'll never love anyone as much as I do you. Ever. You're my one and only... Forever." Her eyes closed, as she sobbed heavily. "I love you too." She replied. "Touching." The voice sneered. "But time's up... Avada Kedavra!" There was a scream, and a blinding green light... Then silence. When Matt looked up to the figure, his hood was pulled back, revealing a mop of curly black hair. "If I can't have her, nobody can." Lupin said coldly, before turning his wand on Matt, aiming driectly for his heart. Matt screamed, watching Lupin's mouth utter the death curse once more and -- Matt awoke again, this time drenched in a cold sweat, his chest heaving like he'd run a marathon. "Victorie..." He gasped, throwing his covers off. He knew he'd dreamed it all, an absurd dream that'd never happen. But he needed to see her. He dressed quickly, and pulled on his sneakers before leaving the dorms and common room. He climbed all the way up to the seventh floor, and found the portrait of the fat lady, who was sleeping soundly. He sank down across the hall from the portrait, hoping that by some miricle, she'd sence his presence out there, and come down. |

Alyss continued on with her rounds. Her stomach was still flutter a bit, but she couldn't really keep the warmth on her face down. Was she really blushing as much as she thought she was? This was not like a Dewley at all, but she didn't really care at the moment. As they made it back to the entrance hall, she could see someone else there. It was only Kyle and she didn't need to tell him about curfew and such. Her patrol had been pretty uneventful, aside from the kisses. No firsties were out, thus no need to scary anyone. Seeing hold Kyle was looking Al and her entwined hands and from that look on his face, she shrugged a shoulder and smiled sweetly. "Al was accompanying me on my rounds this event, like the gentleman that he is." she replied. She knew that look on his face and usually she would want to wipe it off his face, but she didn't care what her house-mate thought of her choice in company. Looking over at Al, she nodded and smiled back to Kyle. "Maybe, if he's still wants to date me." she answered. It was all up to Al if he wanted to date her, it was clear she was interested so the quaffle was in his field now. |
Al smiled a little, looking down at her. "I guess she is then." He replied, looking sideways at Kyle. "I think Rose is still in the great hall talking with Lupin. I didn't see her leave when I did." he said, looking the other boy over. He seemed a little on edge about something, what it was, he couldn't place his finger on though. "If I see her, I'll tell her you were looking for her." He said, waving as the pair headed off to finish her rounds. Kyle nodded once and headed off towards the hall. He instantly spotted her over at the Gryffindor table. He sat down across from her, with a smile still on his lips. "Seems your cousin has taking a liking to a Slytherine." He said, leaning on the table. "Both of them, for that matter." He looked around, seeing very few people around at this hour. He felt his heart rate pick up, as he looked back to her. "Can I talk to you for a second? Seriously, I mean." He asked, attempting to meet her gaze. |
Alyss blushed slightly as she gave his hand a little squeeze. She knew he was a nice guy and she probably didn't really deserve to date a guy like him, but she did really enjoy his company and the way things were innocent with him. He didn't push her and she could sense the shyness in him, which she found rather adorable. Looking to Kyle, she smiled and waved bye. "I'll see you in the common room, later?" she called out before they turned to make their way out the door to check the courtyard and grounds. Stepping out into the courtyard, she looked around for possible firsties and underclass-men. "Kyle looked a might off this evening, wonder what's got him like that," she voiced. It was odd for her to see him like that, but she didn't want to dwell on it too much. She would just have to get the story later. |
"As far as I know, he's got a bit of a thing for Rosey." Al replied with a smirk. "Matt, Vic, and myself have been trying to get the pair together since the party... but their both stubborn as oxes." He shook his head laughing a little. "Perfect for each other, really. I saw then having dinner earlier in that really fancy resturant in the village... Perhapse something happened..." He said somewhat hopefully. It had been too long since Rose had someone in her life like Kyle, and he hoped that he'd find her, and that something sparked. He liked Kyle, he was a generally plesant person to be around, always with a smile on his face. "I dunno. I'll ask her later when I see her." He said, slipping his arm around her waist. |
Alyss nodded as she listened. She had a feeling that Kyle did like the redhead and merlin did she know how stubborn he was. "You know they do look cute together." she smiled. Her friend did need someone like Rose in his life and it was about time for it too. She had spend a lot of time just watching her housemates and she sensed there there was something there. Maybe it was time that someone acted on it. Leaning into him, she rested her head on his shoulder slightly as they walked on, her arm wrapped around him as well. "Well, I'll ask Kyle later and we could compare notes," she laughed softly. |
Al laughed a little, shaking his head. "Yeah, we'll have to sit down with Vic and-" He shuddered a little at the thought "Matt, and come up with some sort of plot to get them together." He said, somewhat sarcastically. He knew about the pair's previous attempt at getting Kyle and Rose alone, and how it had failed. It seemed the redhead and the blond were too clever to fall into any sort of trap. But perhapse four brains could outsmart two... He shrugged. "Who knows, maybe they already talked about it. Rose dosen't tell me anything, and it seems that Matt's too busy with Vic for Kyle to talk to." He cringed again, shoving the thoughts away. That was the last thing he needed to think about. Ugh. |
Alyss nodded as she listened. Maybe he was on to something, four heads were better than two. Noticing the tone in his voice, she made a little face and shook her head slightly. It would be some time before Al would ever warm up to Matt, but she wasn't going to push it. It wasn't her place and if the two of them had issues, she wasn't about to get in the middle of them. "Well, you never know. Stranger things have happened but we should still compare notes with Vic and Matt." she said. She wondered if that was a good idea at the moment, but she hoped the two of them would be able to be semi-civil in the presence of Vic and herself. Again, she noticed his cringe and laughed softly, shaking her head. She could only imagine what thoughts came to mind when he had said that, but she did find it kind of funny. |
Relucantly, Al nodded. "I guess you're right." he replied, tightening his grip on her waist a little. Several seventh year ravenclaw boys walk past, sizing up the new couple. One leaned over and said something in the others ear, and the group laughed, looking at them still as they past. "Honestly, if you have something to say, say it to our faces." He called, rolling his eyes and walking away with Alyss. "I take it, this is the kind of thing we're going to get for the rest of our relationship." He said with a sarcastic smile. |
Alyss smiled softly at Al saying she might be right. Most boys never gave her credit for being somewhat smart. Yes, she was in the running of Head Girl next term and all, but most thought she was just buying her way in. Feeling his grip tightening, she looked up and notice the passing boys. Throwing them a look, she rolled her eyes. She was used to the looks from them, but that didn't mean it was still rather rude of them. She would have to have a talk with Professor Jacobsen about her house. Looking back up at Al, she leaned in and gave his cheek a quick kiss. "I guess you are right, but like that will stop me from seeing you," she replied. If the student body wanted to be rude, she would be rude as well. Their opinion didn't dictate whom she was going to date and it wasn't like she couldn't get even with them in the end. "I'm sure the staring will die down after a while." she added with a shrug. |
Al laughed with a nodd. "I would say so." He replied, walking along with her still. "I don't know who's going to get more attention... The Slytherine Rock-star and the Gryffindor Princess, or the Most Wanted Girl In School and Harry Potter's Son." He laughed again, shaking his head. "There are quite a lot of contravercial couples this year... And break-ups for that matter." He said, looking around for Meg or Jay, and hoping neither was around. |
Victoire woke, checking the clock on her bedside table to see that it was rather late in the evening. Her nightmare hadn't woken her; her body had simply gotten the urge to wake. Swiping her hair from her face, she noticed through the dim light of the dorms that Rose had still not come to bed. She smiled softly, knowing and hoping that the best had only happened. Or maybe she was down in the common room. Tossing off her covers and placing a robe over her slip, knotting the tie at her waist, she made her way to the common room to see if her cousin was there, her bare feet pit-patting on the carpet as she made her way down. It was deserted. Sighing, she crossed her arms over her chest, wondering if Rose could still be at the Great Hall. Would Victoire have the nerve to go downstairs in her pijamas? She knew she didn't, so she would settle for peeking her head out of the portrait hole to see if she was on the Grand Staircase. Stepping out of the portrait hole, she noticed Matt across the way. Why was he here? Had something happened? It wasn't that Victoire was displeased to see him, but she was rather unhappy with the upset look on his face. |
Matt heard the hinges of the portrait swing open, and lazily opened his eyes. Much to his pleasure, he saw Victorie looking out. He smiled a little, standing. "Hey." He said, still standing across the hall, incase she still didn't want to see him. "I was hoping you were still up." There were darker then normal circles under his eyes from the lack of sleep he'd experienced the night before, and he was drained of all energy. But the need to see her kept him awake, and it would have even it it meant sitting there the whole night. The confused look on her face hurt a little, but he knew she was probably tired. "If you were going to bed, don't let me keep you up... I just-" His voice failed him, and he sighed. "Couldn't sleep." He lied. |
Victoire's small smile faded slightly as she made her way towards him, speaking as she walked along. "No, don't blame yourself. I just couldn't..." She trailed off, shrugging as she stood in front of him. It was evident that he was troubled, and Victoire bit her lip as she felt as if she had somehow been the cause of his current state. "What's on your mind?" She took his hands in hers, squeezing them softly as she wondered what had happened. Her gut feeling told her that Teddy was the cause, that his sudden appearance and Victoire's confused actions had caused this, but she didn't want to believe it. Matt knew that she loved him, and only him. |
Matt shook his head slowly, pulling his hands from hers, and wrapping his arms around her. He breathed deeply, calming himself down, and pushing his dream aside. This was real. This was happening. Not what he had dreamed up. That wasn't real. "Just bad dreams." He whispered, holding her close. He hated feeling so vunerable and weak. Especially infront of her. He wanted to be the strong, uncaring person he'd been for years before. The person who's dreams didn't wake him up in cold sweats, and in fear that they'd been real. He pulled back a little, his arms still slung low around her waist, laughing at himself for being so weak. "What's gotten into me?" He asked, more to himself then to her. "It was a dream.... A bloody dream. And here I am, so effing weak that I can't even sleep alone... Because when I do, I dream that I'm being forced to watch you die... And I'm totally reambling but I can't stop." He closed his eyes and shook his head. "This has never happened to me before. Ever. What the hell is wrong with me?" He rested his forehead against hers, laughing quietly. |
Alyss shrugged and smiled innocently. "Well, like you said with all the controversial couples, I'm sure people will lost interest in us," she said. People would get bored and move on to the next new gossip, so they would only have to deal with the stares and whispers for so long. At hearing him call her the most wanted girl in school, she blushed. Yeah, she was used to it but hearing him say it was a little different. It was one thing to be wanted and a different thing to be wanted for the wrong reason. "Yeah, the break-ups are bound to happen, but in most cases they lead to make-ups and then the cycle starts all over again," she added. It was just the way it was with them. |
Again, Al shurgged. "Yeah, thats true enough. Odder things have happened then us getting together." He mused. He's heard some pretty wild things from his parents and aunts and uncles, about when they attended school. Most of which, he didn't care to listen to. They soon found themselves back at the main doors of the school, signaling that her rounds were finished for the night. He looked at his watch, soon realizing that it was pretty late. "I think I should probably head up and check on Victorie. She seemed to take off aweful fast when Lupin came in..." He said, slipping his arms around her waist. "I'll see you tomorrow, I guess." He said with a small smile, before he leaned down, gently kissing her lips good-night. |
Alyss laughed softly as she thought of all the stranger things that she head heard happened. It wasn't like this pairing was the strangest. She had heard things from her parents and family of the things that used to happen. Plus, she had heard things through the board as well. Upon arriving back at the main doors, she frowned a bit. She was rather happy her rounds were over but that also meant that she would be ending her evening with Al as well. The time really had flown by. "Yes, go check on her. I should make sure my house is all tucked away and behaving," she nodded with a smirk. Leaning into his arms, she looked up at him. "Tomorrow, it is then." she smiled before she leaned up and returned his good-bye kiss. It was simple and sweet. Nothing like any other kisses she had received before, but she liked it none the less. |

He laughed at himself again, rolling his eyes. "I know it was dream. I'm just going crazy." He said with a half hearted smirk. Great, now she thought he was a madman. "And dragons I can deal with. Big spiders, not so much." He gave a weak smile and let her go. "Go on back to bed." He said, looking down at her lovingly. "I don't want to keep you up again tonight." |
Victoire put a finger to his lips. "You-are-not-mad," She gazed into his eyes, her index finger making sure his lips didn't refute her words. "It's probably just stress. Today was long and rather eventful." She laughed softly, pulling her finger away. So much had happened in that day, it felt like Victoire had gone through an eventful week rather than an eventful day. As he pulled away, Victoire stayed put as she looked at him rather inquisitively. "Don't worry about me," She spoke, "What about you? I'm not going to bed unless you're alright." She placed her hands on her hips, wanting to make sure that Matt wasn't going to toss and turn through the night. |
He didn't want to tell her the truth, that there'd be no sleep for him tonight. Just aimless wanderings about the school and perhapse watching the sunrise over the lake. He instead just shrugged. "I'm ok. I'm probably going to go back to bed myself..." He said, taking her hand in his. He brought it up to his lips, pressing a gentle kiss to the back of it. "Honestly." He lied. Hopefully, his fantastic ability to lie hadn't gone with his sanity. Al pulled back from her kiss and smiled a little. "Tomorrow indeed." He replied before letting her go. He gave her one quick kiss on the cheek before heading off to the gryffindor tower, in and infinatly better mood then he had been earlier. As he reached the portrait of the fat lady, he arched an eyebrow when he spotted Matt and Vic standing outside. "Evening." He said with a friendly smile, and he gave the password and entered the common room. |
Victoire's eyebrows rose. "Probably?" She asked after he kissed the back of her hand. But there was no use in arguing it. He would fall asleep eventually, which would hopefully be very soon indeed. "Alright," She relented, the authoritative tone in her voice having disappeared. "Goodnight, love." She give him a goodbye kiss before approaching the Fat Lady after speaking the password. Before entering through the portrait hole, Victoire keep one hand onf the wall as she turned back to look at him. "Are we still on for breakfast?" Having finished his meal, being one of the last professors to stay in the Great Hall, Teddy wiped his mouth and tossed the linen napkin aside, striding down from the staff table and out of the Great Hall. Most of the students had gone to bed, and Teddy was far from tired. What better time than to take a look around his old stomping grounds again? Sticking his hands in the pockets of his jeans, he began to ascend the Grand Staircase, softly whistling a tune as he went along. |

Matt nodded. "Yeah, sure." He replied with a smile. "Night darling... I love you." He said before turning to leave the seventh floor. He decended the stairs, hands in the pockets of his hoodie. He walked about for a bit, but found inside to be a little boring. He made his way to the entrence hall, and left the building silently, and headed for the lake. It was probably his favorite place on the whole grounds. Between the soothing sound of the water, and the cool breeze that blew in from it, he found he could relax better there then anywhere else. He found a tree not far from the path the the lake, and Climbed up a few branches, before sitting on one and looking up at the stars. He knew that there'd be no sleeping tonight. Kyle sighed when he didn't earn a responce from Rose and got up from the place where he sat. "Fine." he said, disheartened. "I guess I'll see you around." He said before heading down to the Slytherine common room, and to his dorm. Who was he to think that she'd actually talk to him seriously. Yeah, he was about to admit everything he'd felt for her to her then and there. But that didn't matter now apparently. He noticed Matt wasn't in bed, and shrugged, knowing better then to question his brother when he didn't show. He changed quickly, and slid into his own bed, falling asleep almost instantly. |
Victoire entered the common room, sighing as part of her knew that everything was not alright. Maybe if they both had a good rest, then everything would be better; she sorely doubted this hope. She ascended the staircase to the dorms once again and realized that sleep had evaded her once again. Taking a blanket from her bed, she wrapped it around herself and sat on a ledge by the window that overlooked the grounds. It was so peaceful outside, much more peaceful than the maelstrom that was brewing in Hogwarts. Victoire knew that something was coming; she just hoped to Merlin that it wouldn't. |
Alyss blushed slightly as she nodded. "Yes, see you tomorrow," she replied as they went their separate ways. After doing a quick sweep of the dungeon, she headed back to the common room. Finding it empty, she moved to the couch and curled up on it. So much had happened today and she actually had a smile on her face. No one would have believe it and it was probably a good thing that no one was around to see it. |
OOC: Moving on to the next day. Sorry guys. I'm bored. :P Matt had spent the better part of the night sitting in the same tree, and watching the sky. The thoughts of his dream had kept him up, as much as he didn't want it to. It was Sunday, so that meant if he really wanted to, he could nap. He watched as the first rays of sunlight appeared on the horizon, and the sky changed from black to a dull grey, then to brilliant pinks and oranges, and finally blue. It wasn't the first time he'd watched the sun come up, just the first time it had been alone. He wasn't used to the emptyness it left him with. Most times when this happened, he'd been lying in bed with Lex, looking out the large windows in his bedroom. Now, he was just sitting in a tree, like a fool, watching alone. He hopped down from his branch and went back inside the castle and down to the dungeons. He was supposed to meet with Victorie for breakfast, and he didn't want to show up in the same clothes she'd seen him in the night before. He pushed the door of his and Kyle's dorm open silently and slid inside, careful not to wake the other. Once inside, the grabbed a clean pair of jeans, and t-shirt, and headed into the bathroom to shower. He showered, changed, and left again, hoping Kyle didn't wake up. It was still too early for breakfast, so he took a seat on the couch, and picked up a novel from the table, reading quietly until someone came down, or the clock struck eight. Kyle heard the door latch snap closed, and the water in the bathroom turn on. Clearly, Matt had been out all night again. He turned over and tried to sleep some more, but just as he was drifting off, he heard his twin's footsteps move across the wooden floor. Clearly he wasn't getting back to sleep. When the door latched again, he sat up and pushed back his blankets, before getting out of bed to shower and change as well. His shower ran cold halfway through, which instantly turned his mood south. And after, he couldn't find his favorite jeans with the torn back pocket. He rolled his eyes and grabbed a pair of his brothers, and pulled a shirt over his head, before heading down to the common room. "Morning." He said lazily, flopping down beside Matt. Matt looked up and smiled a little. "Morning." He replied. "I tried to be as quiet as possible..." He said, noting his brothers somewhat annoyed look. "Nah, you didn't wake me up... You did use all the hot water though." He said, turning to Matt with a smirk. |
Victoire woke as the rays of the sun poured in through the window next to her four-poster bed. The night before, she had sat at the window ledge for an hour or so, contemplating everything and contemplating nothing as she attempted to find the elusive agent known as sleep. She had finally shuffled off to bed once she had succeeded in her mission. Victoire quickly got ready, her mind elsewhere as she showered, applied her make-up, and slipped on a simple summer dress. Today just seemed off, if that was even a way to describe how she felt. Lacing up her oxfords, Victoire slowly, mechanically, made her way down the stairs, out of the common room, and to the Grand Staircase. She knew that Matt might not be down for a short while, but she didn't mind. It would simply be nice to be one of the first down to breakfast, as she wouldn't have to fight another for the last bagel or deal with twitchy second years who had a tendency of blocking her way. Teddy woke rather slowly, not used to having the sun's bright rays serve as a wake-up call. He contemplated pulling the curtains over the window and heading back to bed, but it would be to no avail; the damage was done, his body awake and ready to begin the day. After quickly getting ready and slipping on a simple pair of jeans, a plain white tee shirt, and his trainers, Teddy made his way out of his office, quickly locking the door behind him with the flick of his wand. It was unusual for him to be up this early, but it was better than sleeping in and missing breakfast. That would simply add another reason to the Headmaster's list as to why he was an incompetent employee. But Teddy had plans: he knew that he still retained his skills from his days on the Gryffindor quidditch team and was prepared to use them to his full advantage, even if it meant showing off in excess. As he made his way onto the Grand Staircase, he smirked as he remembered when Victoire had tried out for the Gryffindor team simply to impress him. She had made it, but just barely. And she quit after one year, simply for the fact that she couldn't bear to humiliate herself in front of the entire student body, nonetheless Teddy. Those had been the good days, the days before they had become strangers. Teddy continued to walk along at a moderate pace, descending the stairs with his hands loosely stuffed in his pockets. Teddy stopped to let a student pass by, Victoire's presence only registering after she made her way past sluggishly. He gazed at the back of her head, her blonde hair waving along as she turned around a curve of the staircase. Had she purposely ignored him? Well, he would have to find out. Picking up the pace, Teddy jogged down a couple of stairs before catching up to Victoire. Keeping pace with her, he cleared his throat softly. Victoire had been walking along, her mind in a comatose state as she had not noticed the presence of Teddy, nonetheless the presence of another person. Hearing another presence, she seemed to come back to reality as her head snapped up. Her breath caught in her throat as she realized who it was. It was Teddy, but not as she had last seen him. When they had last talked, Teddy had had a rather solemn look on his face, a look that can be faux or genuine, a look that one has when they split up with another. But the Teddy of now had a soft, innocent smile playing on his lips, his eyes twinkling as his raven curls framed his handsome face. A look that seemed to want reconciliation. But it was too early in the game to determine that. Victoire's blank expression stayed plastered onto her face as she forced her mouth to form something coherent, anything. "Good morning." She said rather bluntly, much to Teddy's enjoyment as a soft chuckle escaped his lips. "Frog in your throat, Victoire?" "Not at all," She replied rather swiftly, derision evident in her smooth tone. Teddy realized that Victoire wasn't up for small talk. He sighed, biting his lower lip before speaking, "I know we haven't spoken since... well, for a while. But do you mind if we talk?" Victoire stopped walking, turning to face Teddy with a rather fierce look on her face. "You," She began in soft, yet furious, tones as her blood pressure rose, "You come here, out of the blue, and expect me to welcome you with open arms? I'm not a sap, Teddy. I don't know what you're up to, but frankly, I don't care. Why don't you just stay out of my way while you're here? I can live with ignoring your presence until graduation." Teddy sighed, his gaze averting her piercing stare as a slight tinge of guilt came over him. "You have every right to be mad," He began, putting his hands in the air in a form of surrender, "But really, can we talk in a civilized, more private manner?" Victoire simply huffed, her arms crossing over her chest defiantly as she looked the other way. After a moment of tense silence, she replied tersely, "Whatever." She began to walk off, giving Teddy the impression that she had ignored his request. After she had turned into an empty corridor, Teddy still stood on the steps, bewildered. Victoire poked her head out of the corridor. "Coming?" She tilted her head, a rather irritated expression gracing her features. Teddy snapped out of his reverie, joining her in the corridor. Well, that had been an improvement: Victoire had gone from furious to irritated. Maybe she would be able to tone it down to somewhat-courteous after he talked some sense into her. |
Alyss spent only a few hours on the couch before she returned to her own dorm and comfortable bed. That night she sleep perfectly and at the break of dawn, she laid awake with a grin on her face. Looking over to the clock, she sighed softly. It was still early but she needed to get things done before breakfast and seeing Al. The thought of him brought another smile to her face. Sitting up, she throw her duvet off herself and slipped her feet into her slippers. Stretching out a bit, you yawned and made her way to the showers. She really did need to get a move on and start her day. After showering, she pulled out her uniform and quickly got changed. She needed to talk to Professor Jacobsen about her house and such. She really hadn't liked the way those Ravenclaw boys acted toward her and Al. Grabbing her bag, she made her way back up to the common room and then out into the dungeons. |
Early was not usually in Jay's vocabulary as a word used for voluntary actions but here he was up far earlier than needed. He dressed and headed down stairs catching site of Alyss as she exited. He hadn’t seen her since the night before the Hogsmeade trip and he was curious, jealously so but he wasn’t tell that to anyone. He hurried after finally catching up with her halfway to the stairs. “Morning.” He said the corner of his mouth pulled into a smile as he fell into step beside her. “Early rounds?” He asked just for general conversion. |
Alyss smiled and slowed her steps slightly. "Morning Jay," she replied nicely. She was in a rather good mood for the time of day it was. Shaking her head, she continue up the stairs. "No, I had late rounds last night, just needing to go talk to Jacobsen about something," she explained. It could have waited but the sooner she got it done, the sooner should could meet up with Al. Tilting her head slightly, she blinked and looked at him. "Wait, Jay you do realize it's like early and you are up?" she asked with a smile. It had just hit her that it was really early and in all the years she had known him, she had never seen him up this early, save from on match days. |
"Ahh Makes sense I guess.. What were you wanting to talk to Jacobsen about anyway?" He asked curiously as they made their way up the stairs. He laughed when she mentioned the time. " I know and I have no idea I just was suddenly wide awake for once." He said with a shrug. " just hope its not to common a thing." |
Excuse the lack of purple for Teddy; it got to be a bit too much in this post. Victoire stood by a window that illuminated the otherwise dark corridor, her lips pursed and her arms crossed. If Teddy was going to try to talk, he better make it fast and not make her late for breakfast. She wouldn't want to give Matt the impression that she had ditched him for Teddy. Teddy entered the corridor, tensed up slightly as he prepared for a verbal barrage of swear words, predicting a mix of English and French words that would make a sailor blush. Teddy took his stance a few feet away from her, taking a long breath before beginning. "I just wanted to say that I-I'm sorry." He bit his lower lip as he waited for her reaction. "That's all you wanted to say?" Victoire hissed, her eyes narrowing. "I could have gone without hearing your pathetic attempt at reconciliation." She made her way to leave the corridor, but Teddy rose his arm. She hesitated and pulled back to her former standing place. "Yes?" She inquired, a nasty, sarcastic tone coloring her words. "I don't understand," Teddy began, shaking his head slightly. "How can you hold a grudge for so long, Victoire?" Those words made her snap, her arms uncrossing as she approached him, a murderous glint in her eyes. "Why?!" Her voice rose, "Really, must you ask? You left me, left me the night before you were to go off on your travels. Do you know how much that hurt me? How do you think it felt know that you preferred gallavanting around Europe instead of staying here with me?" Victoire's chest rose and fell as her blood pressure rose, her hands curled into fists. Teddy couldn't help but scoff a bit, Victoire having to stop herself from attacking him right then and there. "For Merlin's sake, you knew how horrible I felt. You knew that I needed an income, and the Prophet offered me a job that I couldn't refuse!" Teddy huffed, adrenaline pumping through his veins as he tried to control his emotions. They were both getting riled up, and it didn't seem as if the situation was going to end well. "I... I still had feelings for you, and you damn well know that!" He cried. Victoire threw her hands in the air melodramatically. "Well, I'm sorry that I stood in the way of your career. Not that you had much of one to even begin with!" She snickered softly, her lips curling maliciously, "And as a matter of fact, no, I had no-effing-clue. It happened so quickly that I figured that you had moved on." Teddy frowned, taking a deep breath before speaking. "Darling-" He began, having realized too late that he had made the mistake of calling her by the name that he had used when they had dated. "Don't-you-dare!" Victoire hissed menacingly, cutting him off. Teddy had a rather dumbstruck look on his face. "We are not together, we're not friends, we're not even extended family." She heaved another breath before beginning once more, "I don't give a damn if Rose and Al still want to speak to you. But know that I don't. I'm perfectly happy with my boyfriend, and we don't need any interference." Teddy was silent; those words had stung, and hard. He took a few breaths as he let himself and Victoire calm down a bit. Beginning in a more level tone, he spoke, "I'm sorry. I have no intention of interfering with you, with anybody while I'm here. I just needed a steady job and the Headmaster was the first to offer me a position. I-" He paused, sighing, "I'll promise to stay out of your way as much as I can, alright?" She shook his head as his features became glum. He turned as he readied to make his way out of the corridor, hands stuffed in his pockets as he accepted defeat in silence. Just as he was at the threshold of the corridor, Victoire called out suddenly. "Wait." Teddy stopped in his tracks and turned to face her, noticing that her chest was still heaving but that a rather guilty expression lay on her face. "I... I'm sorry, now. But you-you can't just come back into my life suddenly and without any warning. What if I had surprised you when you were in Turkey?" Teddy was silent, shrugging, although he knew that he would have been delighted to see her during his travels. She would have made for some nice company. "I guess we can say that we're... even?" Victoire crossed her arms over her chest. "I just need some time. But I guess we can say we're... oh, I don't know, acquaintances?" A small smile appeared on Teddy's lips. "I'll take it." He answered, nodding curtly. A small smile appeared on Victoire's lips as well. "I'll see you around." She spoke, nodding slightly as she made her way out of the corridor. She felt different. Victoire no longer walked mechanically along, but there was a small spring in her step. Maybe being acquaintances wouldn't be so bad. Teddy remained in the corridor for a few moments, still slightly dumbstruck. He chuckled softly as he made his way out of the corridor a few moments later. |
Matt had been walking towards the great hall when Kyle, when he spotted Victorie and Lupin talking. His eyes narrowed as he stopped, watching. For a while, it seemed as if she was going to hit him. Then it turned civil. That worried him. He watched as she walked away, and jogged down the dorridor after her. He caught up with her, shooting Lupin a clare in passing. "What was that about?" He asked, trying to hide the fear in his voice. He knew it was probably nothing, he just wanted the confirmation that Lpuin wasn't trying to step in on his territory. He slipped his arm around her waist and placed a quik kiss to the top of her head. "Seemed a little heated." Kyle saw the same sight Matt did, and got worried. But luckily, Matt didn't do something stupid. His brother had waited until Lupin had gone, and then went to talk with his girlfriend. He looked around, hoping Rose would be down soon. He still really needed to talk to her. He made his way into the great hall for breakfast, and took a seat at the end of the slytherine table. Al awoke early the next morning, feeling light and happy. Something he wasn't used to. He showered and dressed in a pair of faded jeans and a vintage Metallica t-shirt with a pair of old beat up converse sneakers. After fussing with his hair for a few minutes, he gave up, knowing it was goin to be a loosing battle. He instead grabbed hs favorite visored beanie style hat and pulled it on, only causing his hair to wing out from underneath it. "I'm going to have to let Vic cut this eventually." He muttered, before he left his dorm for breakfast. He was supposed to meet up with Alyss soon, and figured he'd see her in the great hall. |
Victoire jumped as she felt Matt's arm around her waist. She had expected to meet him at the Great Hall, but meeting him earlier was fine with her. Victoire felt a bit embarrassed as she realized that he had witnessed some, or all, of her fight/conversation with Teddy. "It was nothing," She lied smoothly. "I guess it was time that we had some sort of conversation; it's been months since we've talked. But nothing to worry about, love." Victoire felt a bit awkward speaking about it, not sure of how much Matt had heard. But in essence she had nothing to worry about: she had said nothing derogatory about Matt or their relationship. Hopefully Matt was wise enough to know that she preferred him to Teddy. |
Meg woke in the morning. Today was the day. She went to her closet and took out a Slytherin green shirt and a white skirt. Not only was she not in uniform, but she was not wearing blue. If this didn't turn heads she wasn't sure what would. She checked the clock. It was still a bit early. She'd wait awhile to go down, just to make sure everyone was down there. She wanted to witness everyone's reactions. Rose woke in the morning and got ready for the day. After getting dressed she headed down the stairs. After not spotting either of her cousins she headed down to the Great Hall alone. When she arrived she saw Kyle. She gave a small wave before sitting down at the table to eat. ooc: I'll be out of town starting tomorrow night until friday night. so feel free to move Rose/Meg around during that time :D |
Alyss shrugged and glanced back at Jay. "I need to talk to her about her house. Those Ravenclaw boys need a lesson in respect," she said. It wasn't like she wasn't used to it, but it was rather uncomfortable now that she was dating Al. "I just had a little run in with some of them last night while I was on my rounds." She figured it was all because of jealousy and all, but why must they be so pity and whispered and laugh. "You know it's just strange to see you up this early. Nice, but strange," she laughed softly. Making it up to the main staircase, she looking up toward the towers. "Maybe it's a fluke, but who knows. You just might be a morning person now," she teased slightly. |
Matt frowned, not wanting to push her. He had a feeling that she wasn't being entirely truthful, but refused to ask. If she had something she wanted to tell him about, he was sure she would... He hoped. "I see." He replied, taking a seat at the table, several chairs away from Kyle. "Talking is always good..." He said, picking up a goblet and filling it with orange juice. Kyle smiled over at Rose. "Morning." He said lightly, spreading some peanut butter on his toast."You're up early." He looked down the table and saw Matt with Victorie. He didn't look pleased, then again, neither did she. Perhapse there'd been some kind of tension. |
"I guess so," She nochalantly answered, taking a seat across the table from him. Victoire grabbed a goblet of orange juice, taking a sip as she sensed a tenseness in the atmosphere. "So," She began, attempting to change the subject, "Were you able to fall asleep last night?" She examined the lines in his face, attempting to discern whether or not he had shadows under his eyes. What if he had stayed up most of the night, or all night? Would it have been because of her, because he was scared of reliving the nightmares once more? |

Matt shook his head. "No, I went out to the lake." He said truthfully. "I knew when I left lastnight that I wasn't going to get any sleep, no matter how hard I tried, so I didn't bother." He explained, poking around at the small amount of food on his plate. The stress of the current situation left him with no apatite, and no desire to sleep. But that only caused a massive headache to start pounding behind his eyes, that were ringed with darker then normal cirlces. He didn't look up at her, as her rested his elbow on the table, and put his chin on his hand. To do so would have made him feel guiltier. Kyle shrugged. "I guess I'm ok, so far." He replied, glancing over at her. He knew now was not the time to tell her how he felt, let he cause he to choke on her breakfast from laughing. "Do you think we could go for a walk around the grounds later? I-I mean, if you don't already have plans with your cousins, that is." He asked, with a small smile. |
Victoire set down her goblet and reached a hand across a table to hold his free fingers in hers. "Love," She stressed the word, not wanting to sound as if she were scolding him. She was a bit worried, though. "You need to sleep. I can't have you becoming an insomniac simply because Teddy's here." Victoire looked up at the staff table, noticing that he hadn't arrived for breakfast yet. Maybe that was a good thing, seeing as she wasn't sure if it would be prudent to have Teddy and Matt in the same room together. Giving his hand a slight squeeze, she began once again, "Do you want me to sleep next to you? We can go to the room of requirement every night and I'll make sure you fall asleep, without any nightmares, if that's what it'll take." |
