After Ginny finishes her final year at Hogwarts, she's stunned to learn that Harry, who's been out of school a year, is engaged. Not wanting to return to the Burrow, which will be full of wedding planning and activity, Ginny escapes to Diagon Alley for a bit of independent living. The twins kindly take Ginny in and offer her a job, and she drags Neville and Luna along as flatmates. Who knows what will happen now that they are living independently?

This is a VERY loose storyline so far, but we want to have the chance to explore these characters as rising adults. I have all of the main characters filled at this point. If you are interested, go ahead and post your character idea. To be honest, I'd prefer HP characters (but not necesarily HRH) rather than made-ups... although a quality made-up is always welcome. If I don't feel your character will add to the story, I probably won't say yes. Also, we're quite serious about RPing, so if you aren't on at night EST, CST, or you will only post very sporadically, don't bother. This is advanced RPing, so YES, your posts need to be longer and more detailed and we DO care about your spelling and grammar.

Ginny huffed and turned her back on her brothers and Harry. If there was anything in the world that would be likely to get her to do something foolish, it would be to tell her she wasn't permitted and to treat her like a child. Surely they knew they were going about this all wrong. She felt bad, for a moment, that she would be making Harry worry, but she recalled that he was so self-involved right now in his grief that he probably wouldn't even notice.

"You are ridiculous," Ginny replied coolly as she turned back to the four people standing in the room. She disappeared with a loud crack.

Draco had just finished a satisfying meal at one of the little family sit-down places in Diagon Alley - a place he was sure no one he knew was aware he ever ate at - and was walking somewhat aimlessly past the various shops. Now that he was out of the Manor, he decided that he liked being outside more than he liked being cooped up, despite the higher risk of danger.

He passed by one of the more upscale clothing boutiques and saw a black and emerald green outfit in the window and stopped walking and mused on whether or not to take a look.

Giving in, he stepped inside and was immediately greeted by various tailors.

"Apparently, the name of Malfoy isn't entirely lost. At least not where my attire and money is concerned." He remarked dryly to himself and allowed the tailors and seamstresses to start their fitting.

He emerged half an hour later loaded down with a solitary shopping bag - the contents shrunk to fit exactly and the bag charmed to be anti-theft.

He had left several hundred Galleons less richer, but it was only a drop in the hat for him. Besides... the outfits had looked good on him. He couldn't help but smirk as he walked down the street, debating on where to go next.

Ginny landed on the street in Diagon Alley, several blocks up from the store and quite out of their sight. She was SO going to hear about this later; she might as well make the best of things now. Remembering her disguise, Ginny turned with all her thoughts on walking like a wizard who belonged on Diagon Alley, yet chose to wear dark glasses and a cap. Her thoughts were so wrapped around that idea, she failed to notice the pedestrian right in front of her.

Before she knew it, Ginny was in an undignified pile on the sidewalk, the stranger laying across her. "I'm so sorry," Ginny gushed wriggling around and trying to free herself in order to help the person to his feet and get his bag squared away. "That's the reason you shouldn't apparate on a crowded street, although I suppose its better than me apparating on top of you or..." She paused as she caught sight of her victim. "YOU!"

Draco picked himself up gracefully and brushed himself off and was about to retort something when he caught sight of wild red hair beneath the cap...

"YOU!" His lips automatically turned into a sneer. "Fancy running into you, though it's apparently the other way around." His eyes were a cold steel gunmetal grey as they focused on whom he assumed was the youngest Weasley. No amount of disguising could hide her flaming red hair.

Ginny whipped off her sunglasses in order to have a more successful glare. "I'll have you know that..." She trailed off, her breathes coming out in shuddery gasps. He recognized her. She was the supposed target of all of Voldemort's cronies, and Draco Malfoy had looked right at her and knew who she was. And she had practically delivered herself to him. Her eyes full of panic, she did a quick jerky look at the others on the street before putting her glasses back on and taking a step back.

Draco had to laugh at her reaction. He stuck his hands into his pockets and shook his head slightly. "Apparently my reputation still carries on." He looked her up and down and his expression was that of disbelief. "That's not much of a disguise, if you're trying to keep others from noticing you." He snorted. "Trust a Weasley to come up with such an outfit."

Yeap, it was Ginny Weasley all right. And she was still the spirfire that she always had been.

He wondered what the cap and sunglasses were for...

"My fear has little to do with your reputation and everything to do with the fact that Death Eaters killed one of my dearest friends last evening and I..." Ginny gulped and moved back a bit more. Why was she being snippy with someone who might very well want to kill her? She took one more step backwards before she turned and made a run for it.

Fred was fuming. That was just too far. Sure, he and George had done some crazy risk-taking things in the past, but this was ridiculous. He took a deep breath and tried to keep his composure, despite the boiling urges rising up in him to punch the wall really hard. Without a word, he went to the door, and stomped down the stairs. He looked the shop over, everything looked in order. Then he opened the door causing the bell to ring overhead and descended out onto the street. He grumbled and cursed Ginny with every step, but kept a watchful look out for her.

Draco's finely arched eyebrow arched even further at the news. He didn't have much time to muse on it before Ginny took off running. Even though he normally would care less about such things, DEs weren't exactly a good thing for him either and the more information he could get on this, the better.

Not knowing why he was doing this, he took off running after her. "Hey, wait!"

George rushed down the stairs after Fred, grabbing him once they reached the street. "I'll help you look for her, but now everyone in Diagon Alley is aware we're here. You better hope we find her before anyone else does, and you better hope we're not targets too." He looked over his shoulder and nodded to Fred to take the lead. He hoped Hermione and Harry had enough sense to stay put.

Ginny took one chance peek over her shoulder and found that Malfoy was on her trail. She darted around people, hoping someone would get in his way and slow him down enough so that she could disappear into a store or something. As she turned a corner, Ginny saw Fred and George peering around and looking more than a little murderous. Swearing softly, she took her odds that Draco wouldn't see and ducked into the small alley between two shops. Her entire body sagged against the wall, and Ginny realized, with chagrin, that the twins were right this time. She should have stayed put.

Draco stopped in his tracks when he saw two more red-headed Weasleys looking very infuriated headed his way. He snickered and smirked, realizing that Ginny must have been trying to get away from them. Not that he could blame her. They looked perfectly murderous, though he figured he could still outhex them any day of the week. Still, there was no sense in running into them and calling more attention to himself. Knowing his bloody luck, the Weasleys would think HE had done something to her.

Without really looking, he ducked into an alleyway and much to his own surprise and chagrin, he found himself face to face with Ginny Weasley.

AGAIN.

"Just my bloody luck." He drawled, his voice quiet.

"You're wrong. I'm going to be the lucky one this time," Ginny replied, misunderstanding him. Her wand was pointed right at his chest, and her hands were steady. "Did you kill Luna?" He started to move and she jabbed him with her wand. It was a Muggle-style move, but she wanted to get his attention. "Don't move. I'm in charge now. Answer me."

Draco hadn't been prepared for such a response and he did the only thing that his body thought was appropriate at the time. He laughed.

He leaned against the wall and held his face in his hand and laughed at the hilarity of it all. Here we was, on one of his very few excursions to Diagon Alley in the past year and trying to avoid the DEs himself, and the bleedingly irritating Weasley was practically accusing him of killing someone.

"Why would... why would I want to... kill Luna for?" He tried to stop laughing and after a few moments, he managed to stop. "I might be a prat, Weasley, and I might not have cared for her, but I haven't killed anyone before." His eyes, betraying his confusion about this accusation, were locked onto hers and his voice was perfectly calm and steady.

"Now that we've settled that, I'd recommend you put your wand away and lower your voice because your two brothers are on the rampage for you. And from the looks of it, you'll really get it if they catch you." He had made a boldly brazen guess, but he was almost 100 percent sure he was right.

Harry was out the door only seconds after Fred and George. He cared for Ginny just as much as they did and he wouldn't let her get hurt. He rushed down the stairs, jumping two at a time and dashed through the store, finding himself outside behind the Weasley twins.

Hermione sighed, watching the last of the group disappear. She wasn't stupid. She would stay put inside, not risking death. She sat down on the couch with her head in her hands and waited for the others.

Ginny lowered her voice, but her wand stayed pointed at Malfoy's chest. "Why should I believe you? Aren't you a Death Eater like your father and all your little friends? Why should I think you have nothing to do with this plot to kill off everyone near and dear to Harry?"

His laughter had irritated her, and Ginny considered what creative hexes she could use on him. How dare he laugh at her pain like there was some sort of joke she didn't understand teh punchline of!

There was only so much time one could spend alone and thinking over the same thoughts. Tara finally gave up on the book she was trying to read. It was a very dry work by a Muggle astrophysicist that she had been meaning to catch up on for quite a while. The book would have to wait, however, as she needed to deal with her current distractions in a way that suited her more methodical temperament better.

Despite the fact that she had left him sleeping only a few hours ago, Tara rapped impatiently on the door to Snape's quarters. "Professor!" She called through the door, not knowing if it was soundproof or not. "I need to speak with you."

Snape was startled out of his thoughts by a loud pounding on his door. He was about to fling the door open in irritation when he realized who it was. He opened the door, "What is it? Is something wrong?"

Tara was startled from her mood by Snape throwing open his door. The look of irritation was quickly replaced by concern, among other less readily definable emotions. "I... no, nothing's wrong. I wanted to speak to you, and I was just sitting up in the Tower thinking about needing to speak to you, and I realized I was being quite silly when you were sure to be up from your nap at this time. So I came down here to... um..." She mumbled her reasons under her breath.

Snape listened as she mumbled herself into silence. She had faded off towards the end so he hadn't heard the last things she had said. "Why don't you step inside?" he said, opening the door further and stepping aside as he gestured her in.

He walked over to the sofa and sat down. "What is it you wished to speak to me about?" he asked, wondering what she could possibly have to discuss with him that would weigh so heavily upon her mind.

"I want to talk to you about us," Tara answered as soon as Snape had settled her onto the sofa. "That is to say... I don't know precisely if there is an us, but I'm assuming there is something since there's all of the kissing and the attempted undressing..." She paused again, hoping he'd confirm that there was as least something going on between the two of them. If he denied it all at this point... well, she didn't have much pride anyway. Her being there now demonstrated that point.

He was surprised and yet, please at her bluntness. So many people tried to weave useless webs of words around their actual point, wasting precious time. Though, he felt some slight heat in his cheeks as she mentioned their "kissing and attempted undressing." However, he groaned inwardly at the implication her "we need to talk about us" gave.

"Yes, about that..." he began, wondering why he felt so reluctant to tell her that, though he was attracted to her, they could never have a relationship; he couldn't risk getting so close to her.

"Yes," Tara agreed reluctantly, knowing that she needed to have her say first or lose all nerve. "I... I'm attracted to you. Merlin knows how much I want you," she felt relieved that this admission had been made. Nothing could be harder than letting him know that he was all she thought about recently. Except... "But I think it might be best if our relationship were based SOLELY on the physical. I'm not really in a position to let men into my life and I don't think you want any sort of feminine complications."

At first, Snape was sure he had heard her wrong or that she wasn't entirely sure what it was she was saying. But, one scan of her eyes told him that she had, in fact, just said what he thought she had said... and meant it. But, it was too good to be true. She couldn't be offerring him exactly what he wanted, what he needed... "I am attracted to you, as well," he finally said. "And, though I am surprised by your proposition, I believe it would be in our best interests, should we wish to act upon our desires, to leave our personal lives personal."

It was such good news, but Tara felt the slightest bit of disappointment. She WANTED to leave her heart out of it, so why was she feeling as if him never growing to really care for her might be something that would break her heart? Pushing it down as irrational, Tara glanced at Snape and quirked an eyebrow.

"What do you mean 'should we wish to act upon our desires'?" Her voice was low and husky as she reached out a hand to cover the small distance between them. It came to rest on his knee, where she drew light patterns with one fingertip. "Am I not making it abundantly clear that I DO wish that very thing?"

Snape looked down at the finger trailing over his knee which was causing a rather peculiar, but not unpleasant, sensation. He looked up at her with only his eyes, a somewhat predatory look upon his face. "I think you've made yourself abundantly clear," he said in a deep rumbled as he reached out a hand to her, his fingers curling into the hair at the back of her head as he pulled her to him and sealed their agreement with a kiss.

Tara felt victorious as Snape pulled her a bit roughly to him and kissed her. She had been wanting that kiss since they were interrupted earlier, and it had none of the tentative quality their earlier kisses had shown. This kiss was all passion, and it soon overshadowed any feelings of victory or any thoughts at all. When they finally broke apart a moment later, Tara continued to cling to Snape, breathless. "If that kiss is any indication, you're making yourself abundantly clear as well," she smiled at him and tilted her face so that she was gazing up at him through hooded eyes.
