After Ginny finishes her final year at Hogwarts, she's stunned to learn that Harry, who's been out of school a year, is engaged. Not wanting to return to the Burrow, which will be full of wedding planning and activity, Ginny escapes to Diagon Alley for a bit of independent living. The twins kindly take Ginny in and offer her a job, and she drags Neville and Luna along as flatmates. Who knows what will happen now that they are living independently?

This is a VERY loose storyline so far, but we want to have the chance to explore these characters as rising adults. I have all of the main characters filled at this point. If you are interested, go ahead and post your character idea. To be honest, I'd prefer HP characters (but not necesarily HRH) rather than made-ups... although a quality made-up is always welcome. If I don't feel your character will add to the story, I probably won't say yes. Also, we're quite serious about RPing, so if you aren't on at night EST, CST, or you will only post very sporadically, don't bother. This is advanced RPing, so YES, your posts need to be longer and more detailed and we DO care about your spelling and grammar.

Harry stood there with the scone Ginny had handed him, shrugged, and began to eat it, making his way over to the others. He was glad that the little camp out had worked out for Fred. He had seemed so insistant on it. And maybe it did make things a bit easier...

Tara stood still, waiting for Snape to say something more. When he was silent, she turned back to him expectantly. His arm was stretched towards her and his face was almost pleading. She didn't have the energy to be angry with him anymore, although his words stung her deeply - not for herself but for her daughter. "What?" her voice sounded dull to her own ears. "Why would you want me to stay when I represent what you disdain most in this world?"

Why did he want her to stay when she was nothing but a mudblood? Snape lowered his arm and stood looking at Tara. "I don't know," he said, turning away and lifting his left hand to his temple as he paced over to his bookcase.

Tara watched Snape cross the room, and she leaned against the door frame to watch his pacing. "You know," she said thoughtfully, no trace of malice in her voice, "you're a very aggravating man. I can't figure out why I like you so much."

He stopped his pacing, lowered his hand, and stared at her. I can't figure out why I like you so much. She liked him? He had been under the impression that she wasn't as repulsed by him as other women and he had made himself a convenient shoulder to lean on after a bad day. "You like me..." he said, thoughtfully. "What do you mean?"

Tara let out a long sigh of exasperation. "I mean I LIKE YOU. I enjoy your company. I would be willing to join you for a meal occasionally. Perhaps we can discuss books we've both read or you can explain some of your more challenging potions to me, if you prefer." She crossed the room and grabbed ahold of Snape's robes, pulling him closer to her level. "How about this? If I can get past the fact that you're a sour-pussed git sometimes and that you worked for the most evil wizard in years, maybe you can get past the fact that my parents didn't have magical powers."

He was completely shocked when she stalked over to him and grabbed his robes, pulling him down to her level. He had almost thought she was going to kiss him and found he was quite disappointed when she didn't. He mentally shook his head. "I believe I could attempt it," he breathed, placing a hand on her shoulder for leverage to take some of the pressure off of his curved upper back.

Tara smiled victoriously up at him and answered, "That wasn't so difficult, was it?" Her smile faltered a bit as she felt the weight of his hand on her shoulder and saw his eyes go to her mouth. She pulled experimentally on his robes and he moved in closer. "I... uh... do you think we ought to try to maintain a... professional relationship?" Her eyes were on his face, but her thoughts were clouded by his lips being so close to hers.

Fred ate breakfast with the others, himself and George cracking jokes and poking fun at everyone. But Fred had been in the room too long. He looked to Fred, and discretely nodded to the door. George apparantly took the hint and followed Fred to the door. Fred noticed Hermione's eyes follow him, and before disappearing behind the door he met her eyes and raised his eyebrows at her.

Fred went up the next flight of stairs with George on his heels, and they entered the room that Sirius used to hide out in with Buckbeak. Fred coughed and sneezed as they moved farther into the room that had obviously been deserted for many years. "So. I don't think I can stand being stuck in this house all day. What do you say we sneak off for a bit?"

He tried to look up into her eyes but, he just couldn't take his own eyes off of her lips which had come so close to his own when she pulled on his robes once more. Snape slipped his hand off of her shoulder and cradled her neck as he stepped closer to her and caressed the side of her face with his other hand before placing his lips briefly upon hers. "It's the holidays," he breathed, his lips brushing hers as he spoke, before kissing her more fully.

George gave Fred a relieved look and a mischievious grin. "Oh, good... I thought I must be crazy to want to leave, but if you want to go too... well, safety in pairs, what?" He quickly pulled off his pajamas and pulled on a pair of jeans and a Muggle t-shirt for a band that had passed through Ottery St. Catchpole a few years back. "Just the two of us? Or you want to risk the rest of that lot coming along too?" He opted for leaving his hair all bed-headesque, not wanting to take the time to comb it and quite like the way it stood up every which way.

Tara shivered as Snape's lips touched hers, letting herself be pulled into a deeper kiss. Was this just for the holiday then? Would he leave her too? The hand not clutching Snape's robes slid around and clung to him as his larger bulk set her off balance a bit. She could worry about things later - let Snape be someone to regret or not, the moment lay in his kiss. When the kiss broke a moment later, leaving her breathless, she turned over the hand on her face and lay a lingering kiss on his palm. "I think I dream off these hands," she whispered.

"No....we can't take anyone else with us. It's too dangerous. Not that we couldn't take them and all....but it's too risky." Fred went and pulled the first T-shirt he found out of his trunk, a plain blue T-shirt, and threw on a ball cap. He looked to George. "You are looking good this morning. " Fred immediatley pulled the ball cap off and threw it in the corner. He tried his best to immatate George's hair do. "So, we ready?"

Geroge nodded and looked excited. The two slipped from their room to find Ginny standing on the landing with her arms crossed.

"Where are you going?" They didn't answer right away, so she grabbed both of them by the fronts of their shirts and propelled them down the stairs, nearly killing them both. At the bottom, she threw them into the drawing room and shut the doors behind them. "I repeat," she said, now with an audience. "Where are you going?"

Snape put the hand she kissed through her tangled hair, his fingers getting caught in the tangles. He frowned and tried to pull his hand free but, it wouldn't come loose. Snape could feel his cheeks flush as he wiggled his fingers to loosed the hair's grip on them and finally they came free. He lowered his head, completely embarrassed and wondering if he should just turn away and let her walk out. As much as he wanted her to stay, she was probably looking for someone who knew something about romance.

Fred could of strangled Ginny. "Ginns...."he said in violent whispers. "We're going somewhere you're not. Now, go frolic off with Harry and let the big boys mind their business." Fred looked up at everyone, smiled and waved. "Ginny is not a morning person...you'll have to excuse her. So, if you don't mind, George and I have stuff to do." Fred turned back to the door, and made to leave.

Snape pulled her hair and Tara winced. His face blushed and he looked down, trying to keep Tara from looking at him. She untangled her hands and put them on either side of his face, putting her own face beneath his and stroking his cheeks with her thumbs. "I'm a mess, aren't I? Do you want to eat breakfast? I promise not to start anymore political discussions."

Even though his time involved with Voldemort and the Death Eaters had more or less passed - consummating with the sentencing of his father, Lucius Malfoy, to a permanent residence between Azkaban and St. Mungo's - Draco couldn't help but feel as if everyone's eyes were on him as he walked through Diagon Alley on his way to Gringott's.

For sure, it wasn't because of the way he dressed because he dressed impeccably, so he knew it had to be because of WHO he was.

Draco Malfoy.

He ignored their stares and glowered and sneered at those who dared to whisper behind his back and kept walking.

He caught his own reflection in one of the mirrors in one of the clothing boutiques and fleetingly wondered where was the old Draco he had seen when he had first started Hogwarts.

His gray eyes, still capable of emotion back in the day, were now a steel gunmetal gray. Years of sneering had given his mouth a somewhat perpetual sneer that never learned to soften, except through exhaustion and weariness. The competition he used to thrive upon when he was younger had eaten away at his resilience once he realized just how warped and deluded Voldemort had been and he realized that he was caught between a rock and hard place. Living a two-faced life had been a nightmarish reality, but under the advice and protection of his former Potions professor, Severus Snape, he had managed to graduate with his life intact and out of Voldemort's immediate way.

Barely.

The shame of realizing just how sorry of a state Voldemort had been in at the time had been a blow to his own pride and it had he was still rebuilding "Draco" - minus the influence of the sorry monster Voldemort had become and the brain-washed lapdog his own father had been reduced to.

His lips curled in distate at the thought and he shivered a little. The very idea of having another confrontation with Voldemort sent ice-cold shivers rattling up and down his spine.

But he was a Malfoy.

And right now, that meant two things. His name meant nearly nothing but disgrace and it also meant he was one of the most endangered wizards alive. He lived on the edge - not out of want, but out of necessity.

Voldemort didn't and and never would take kindly to traitors and he tried not to think about what would happen if they ran into each other.

A cluster of gossiping witches and wizards started buzzing as he walked past them on his way to the bank and he whirled around and gave them each a cold glare and tipped his chin up and pretended he didn't hear a word they said. They fell silent as he walked past, but once he entered the bank, the silence grew to a steady hum.

Bloody son of a Death Eater...

There was no line thankfully, and he walked up to the counter. "I need to do a transfer from one account to another and I need the bookkeeping records," he said in a somewhat bored tone that somehow retained its commanding qualities.

"Yes... Mr. Malfoy." The goblin nodded and after a few minutes of waiting, the goblin gave Draco a small leather notebook with a receipt tucked inside, which Draco immediately looked over.

"Good." Draco nodded and adjusted his cloak. "I'll return later this week to take care of the rest of the family's bookkeeping." With that said, he turned around and headed out the door, pocketing the book into a pocket charmed to never lose things.

He shot the gossiping bunch another icy glare before heading down Diagon Alley.

He needed a drink. A stiff one.

Ginny moved around and stood in front of them again. "Are you mad?" In case they thought she was trying to prevent them from leaving at all, she hastened to add, "I'm not staying cooped up in this house for much longer. I'm going with you." She stuck out her chin defiantly. "If you can go, so can I. And it'll be safer if you just let me come, because otherwise, I'll follow you."

Snape let out a breath he didnt' even know he had been holding and nodded, fervently. He slipped out of the hold she had on his face and moved toward the breakfast tray. This time, instead of sitting in separate chairs, the sat upon the small sofa they had shared the previosu night. He opinted his wand to heat the breakfast which had cooled in the aftermath of the talk of mudbloods and handed Tara a plate.

Fred felt like walking over and banging his head on the side of the wall. Ginny was so much like them, it wasn't funny. He looked around the room expectanly, waiting on someone to come and pull her away. But no one came to the Twins rescue. Fred sighed, "Ginn's...look, I'd love for you to go, but ...don't you know how dangerous it is. George and I are just going to go check on the shop. We'll be back before you know it..."Fred said pleadingly to his headstrong little sister.

Tara accepted the plate and leaned companionably against Snape. She didn't want to pressure him or make him believe she need more from him than he could give at this moment, but the feel of his body against hers was a comfort. She smiled gently at him, wondering how they had changed places so fast - from sure to unsure and vice versa. She supposed it had to do with her willingness to not worry about her heart in this situation. Snape was worth the regrets, if he'd only let himself come along.

"If its dangerous for me, then it'll be dangerous for you as well. I'm coming with you. I'm not asking, I'm telling. If you leave me behind, then I'll be forced to go out by myself. Do you REALLY want me out there, on the dark and dangerous streets, by myself?" Ginny gave Fred her most pathetic looking, seeing from George's expression taht he was already won over.

She leaned against him. He liked the contact but, wondered if she truly was over his blunder earlier with his muggle comment and his reaction when she had told him she was a mudblood. "I'm... Sorry about before," he said, softly, before picking up his toast and taking a bite.

Harry was spacing out for a few minutes until he realized what Ginny was saying. She was going to leave Grimmauld place. He couldn't let her do that. He hastily went to her, "Ginny, you're not leaving, I won't let you. Really, it's not a smart thing at all."
