It was kind of sickening, like a cliche fanfic. I'll get over the fact that I hadn't wanted the two couples to live happily ever after, but really, all their kids are BFFs and kissing each and stuff? Plus we didn't find out what would have been more interesting, their jobs and their life directly after Voldemort. Also, "Albus Severus Potter"? Gotta feel sorry for that kid, considering his brother and sister got normal names. Couldn't it be like "Sirius Albus Potter" and "James Severus Potter"? Just sounds more normal...and where did "Rose" and "Hugo" come from?

The epilogue was perfect. I know that it was too short to suit some people, but I feel that making it longer would allow less for the imagination.

Harry and Ginny marry and have three kids: James, Lily, and Albus Severus. I love that he named Albus Severus after two of the most amazing people he ever knew. I love how Albus is a little unsure of himself and how Harry tells him that he wouldn't care if he was in Slytherin or not. James was too cute!
Hermione and Ron get married and have two kids!
Victoire was more than likely Bill's and Fleur's daughter. Just look at the name, really. I'm glad that Ted Lupin made a show too!

It was good, and I'm pleased.

A bit too different than the rest of the book, if you ask me. I had preferred a more bittersweet ending, all in all. But I didn't hate it or anything.

It definitely entailed the finality necessary for the 7th book, little to none speculation left. And I liked the fact that FINALLY Harry acknowledges Snape and his bravery.

'All was well' was an effective way of ending the book, too. I rather liked it, and yes, the word 'scar' was close to the end, hehe, like JK said xD

Hmm...It was defo too short in my mind. I think it was too picture perfect as well. Lol! I mean yes life can have its cheesy, Hallmark card moments but those are rare. So unless the Epilogue was a rare, cheesy, Hallmark card moment then I guess its cool. -shrugs-

I don't know I think it could have been better? Maybe it didn't have to go that far into the future. I mean I would have been pleased to just see how they were rebuilding their lives after the whole war thing was over. That I think would have been cool.

It was nice to see everyone settled though. That was nice. Finally we got to see Harry with the family that he has always longed for and always deserved. So I suppose that was cool. Although I'm not too sure about Albus Severus...O-o That was funny to me...sweet but funny. Lol! I would have been sure that Harry would have named one of his kids after Sirius.

However I did love the bit where Ron said that he Confunded the examiner in order to pass his driving test. Lmao! <33 Would defo not want to get in a motor vehicle with him!

What about the Harry-Hermione thing that should have happened? Oh well. They'll still all remain friends. I do wonder who Draco married, what became of Luna, who else teaches at Hogwarts (what staff remain), and just some other details. But overall....GREAT!

I've read that scene so many times in a million cliche fanfics, so I'm still glad that she added it because I was curious what happened to them all but still, a bit corney.

And I couldn't stop laughing at the name Hugo...ahaha.

But I did like it alright, kind of wish it was like more sad almost, not to happy and yay-everything- is -alright -now -lets- have- a- party.

It was wierd noticing all the names of the kids and that that had been mentioned in so many fanfics before. Kinda wierd, but I got over that quickly.

At the time I was reading it, I was liking it and psyched when I found out about Neville. I loved loved loved the part with Harry talking to Albus Severus about possibly being in Slytherin. Gotta say, it was cute.

Overall, I'm upset. Only 6 characters (that were living during all other books) were mentioned. So many were left out and I want to know so badly what happened to them. Is McGonagall still alive and headmistress? Who else do we know is teaching at Hogwarts? Luna? Weasley's? Dursley's? There are so many characters I want to know what happened in their lives that I still don't know. Okay, tell me, does anyone know if this is completely false or possible: JK will write a little book to tell how everyone else's lives ended up. Not a book with a plot or anything, but just saying what happened to each character.

Overall? The Epilogue was pretty good. It was JK's way of saying, "This is the last book." Since she was giving fans a loose outline of what happened afterwards.

Of course there were the itty bitty things that bothered me - too short in my opinion [that also might be because I didn't want it to end =/] but also I would have liked more information on the characters and their families and so on but then again I think JK left that part open so fans could keep discussions going and although everything important was answered some of that stuff is still open - like the trio's jobs and such.

I really did love how Harry named one of his son's after Snape. It was just the best bit of the whole Epilogue in my opinion. It just showed how much respect Harry had held for his old-Potions professor in the end.

Overall it was a great way to end the book

I though it was alright, I really thought Harry would get the D.A.D.A. job at Hogworts and mabey even become Headmaster someday.

I hate to insult Jo and the fact that this epilogue was finished years and years ago, but I wasn't crazy about it, personally. It was kind of cheesy. The bit about Albus Severus was sweet (although I just liked that Harry came to terms with Snape, d'awwww...), but otherwise it was just like, "... whoo, never saw that coming D:"

And... the last line. Redundant! They all got married and had babies, of course all was well! It just seemed unnecessary.

Plus, the fact that everybody named their kids after previously existing characters got to be a bit overbearing and confusing, did anyone else feel that?

I wouldn't say it was fully an epiloque since we could only figure out that Ron-Hermione and Ginny-Harry got married, and they got children. What about the others?
I personally would have preferred an epilogue, which is not 19 years later but a couple of years maybe, picking up from a wedding either of Rhr or HG, and informing about the rest one by one.

I would have prefered the epilogue done in the way Dickens finished off A Christmas Carol A simple narrative explaining where everyone went with their lives. This read a bit like Fanfiction to me. But you know what? It's not the way I would have ended it, but after all the insanity Harry and co. have been though, ridiculous Fanfictionesque sweetness in their future almost makes for an appropriate counter-balance.

OMG! I simply adored the epilogue! I was thrilled to see Ron and Hermione got married and Harry and Ginny and they all had kids! I personally would have liked to see one of Harry's sons named Sirius. I love how there's James and Lily though. Sadly, I think Hugo is a funny name. Along with Draco's son's name, Scorpius or however it's spelled. I was curious to know who Victoire is though. I agree with Hermionespell, it could be Fleur and Bill's daughter since she is cousins with James, who is a Potter, who is related to the Weasleys, making Bill and Fleur's child, his cousin.

I'd be fairly certain Victoire is Bill and Fleur's daughter, the French name sorta gives that away.

I think it's 19 years because that's when Albus Severus is getting on the train to Hogwarts, along with Rose. I guess it's a nice tie up.

I think the Ep was far too short. Mind you I wouldn't have complained if it was another 700 pages... :p

I really wanted to know what happened to McGonagall, the other teachers who stayed, The Malfoys, What happened to the Dementors? Did they go back to Azkaban? How's Az guarded now (if not). Which of the Death Eaters lived, and what happened to them. What are the rest of the Weasleys doing now? How did George manage after losing half of himself (Fred), there was NO mention of George finding out about Fred's death in the book!!!

Oh, and, most of all, what do the four do for a living?! The book alludes to Hermione becoming a healer, but what about the others?

Well written, but left too many loose ends for my liking. Very frustrating.

I disliked the Epilogue and I feel that Rowling lied about it. She said we would find out everything about all the characters who lived. Instead we got a little cheesy bit on Harry's kids.

Miss Sarah Bippity Boppity Boo!

Too sweet... too happy. I personally think the epilogue shouldn't have been included. I thought it was just weird reading all the names of the characters that had died as kids of the main characters. It's too big of a jump for me, as much as it said "19 years later..." to go from Ron/Hermione sharing a kiss over house elf liberation to having two kids.

All said, I did enjoy reading it, and a thought it was funny, and important, especially Harry's line about Snape. Still... it left a lot to be desired.

I really didn't think it was need. I think the book would have been prefect if it ended with the last chapter and Harry's line, "I've had enough trouble for a lifetime".

The funny thing is I saw the scan of the Epilouge the week before the book came out and I thought this can't be the real one because Harry's kids names are just too hokey.

I would have enjoyed it better if we found out what happened to more of the characters - maybe if it was at Harry's birthday party or something.

I thought the epilogue was a bit cheesy, yeah I know it's a kids book and people like happy endings and all that but I really didn't need to know what happens with everyone 19 years later.

And I agree that it should have just stopped at when Harry said "I've had enough trouble for a lifetime"

Agree. Fully. The Epilogue as is is nice enough, and kind of interesting, but summing up how things returned to normal would have seemed better to me. Maybe 2 parts of the Epilogue, one part summerizing the return to normalcy, and the other jumping ahead.

I don't know. Seemed too....clean and light for how dark the books have gotten. But....maybe that was just Jo trying to tie it up by kind of going back to the "Happy Time" but....it just wasn't what I had expected at all.

Seemed to just want to give an ending a happy note, but left us with a lot of questions and curiosity about everyone else.

What happened with the Dursleys? Specifically Dudley, who had come around to Harry at the end....er...beginning.

I really like the epilogue and how Harry and Ginny honored certain people by naming their children after them, but I do wished that there was more mentioned about the other characters...

I think it was wonderful. The epilogue was meant for us and for jk. she needed some closure as well as we did, and this is how she chose to do it. this is what she wanted to show us. I can't believe that some of you are criticizing her....

*caalm, calm*

sorry, but I love the books. all of them. they are perfect.

Honestly, I didn't like the epilogue at all. It was too "picture perfect". There was no surprise in it, at all. The way that Harry named his kids after those certain people was a little ironic really. Also the way that they were all married off, sort of annoyed me. It's sort of hard to explain in words.

Yes Harry would be 36 now, but when was James 36? He was 21 when he died, and would have been 31 when Harry started in his first year at Hogwarts. So James would have been 36 when Harry finished his last year at Hogwarts (6th year as he did not do the final 7th year) Could that be the connection???

Any other ideas why 19 years later???
