How do I put on an avatar?

Putting in an avatar can be explained in four simple steps:
1. Go to your User CP (Control Panel)
2. Click on Edit Avatar in the side navigation panel
3. Then you can either choose from the many avatars provided by the site, or to use a custom avatar. To use a custom avatar, you can either paste the direct link (URL) in the first option or upload an avatar from your computer in the second option.
4. Save Changes, and if your avatar complies with SS Rules (100x100px and under 20kbs) everything should be set.

NOTE:: For newbie members, the maximum image size for avatars is 80X80 pixels. You can select one from the various supplied in the Snitchseeker database until you have reached Member status.

Where can I get an avatar?

There are two options. You can either use the provided avatars (which as a newbie ranked member, you will have to do until you get to a certain number of posts). Or, visit the Madame Malkin's here on SS where dozens of graphic makers offer up-for-grab icons or accept requests to make you an avatar. You can get avatars from a lot of places of the internet, but they must meet the SS size requirements and comply with the board rules.

My Avatar/Sig Pics Keep Disappearing or Don't Work!

A few reasons exist that could be the cause of this problem. One is that if the image in your signature or avatar was found inappropriate and/or broke any of SS rules. In that situation, a SS Staff member would have removed it and would have already informed you of it and asked to replace the image with an SS appropriate image.

The other reason for why your avatar/signature is not showing up is that you're either using the incorrect URL(the direct link to your image of choice in your image hosting account) or you have recently moved your image or deleted it. It can also mean that whichever site your linking from doesn't allow "hotlinking" and in that case you need to upload to your own image hosting account, like photobucket. Finally, if none of those reasons are the cause behind your image not showing up, your image hosting site might be temporarily down.

When I try to edit my signature I get a message that says I can't use more than 50 characters? What if I want a larger signature?

URLs, codes, letters, and numbers are characters and all add up to the 50 characters maximum allowed to be put in via your User CP. If the signature you want to have uses more than 50 characters you will have to submit it to the appropriately named thread: "Submit Your Signature Here" in the Scribbulus Ever Changing Inks forum. Please make sure you read all the rules and details about text sizes and file size in the first two posts of the thread before submitting your signature request. After that, all you have to do is wait for a Mod/Admin to come by and make sure your signature abides the rules of SS and it will be put in for you.

Do smileys and/or spaces add to my total pixel height?

Yes, they do. A smiley would count in height as the equivalent of a size 2 line of text (15 pixels). As for spaces that you leave in between images and/or text will depend on the size of text you are using and also add up to the total pixels in height of your signature.

In an all text signature, how many lines (and size of text) am I allowed?

For an all text signature you are allowed a maximum of 11 lines of size 1 text.
