| | | The Starry Prophesier Some ways down Knockturn alley there is an old cart owned by a romanian gypsy hag. From the cart two wooded steps come down, and there is a table with two ratty chairs on their side. Above the cart a sign hovers that says The Starry Prophesier. It has been said that Madame Hildegard, the old white haired gypsy hag, with green skin who owned the cart was known to have tasted the flesh of children and muggle borns who came to her cart. Her hook nose was punctuated with a large black hairy mole and her yellow eyes can petrify you if you stare at them too long. Here you may purchase all sort of dark magic divination items and be it Palms, Tarots or Runes, this is the place to get your future read. Arkie Alderton's Kwik-Repair Shop and Twilfit and Tattings are just next door and of course, Knockturn Alley has plenty more to offer if you dare. And place them back on the table, then cut it. One cut will do." Meghan smoothed her skirt and sat on the chair as the Gypsy woman told her to. She concentrated on keeping a straight and not amused face, although, in her head she was really wondering if she could buy tarot cards. Was that a thing she could do? Hopefully.
"I'm not in a hurry." Meghan played with her hair as she spoke. "I just have to get home in an hour and I don't want to keep my dad waiting." If she were being honest, that was a complete and total lie. She wasn't even in a hurry, and her dad was the one that told her to go shopping. He didn't care what time she got home. He had important business to take care of anyway.
But, anyway, the deck. She took the cards and shuffled them, smiling at the woman and humming a tune to herself. Now she had to cut the cards. How you did that, she had no idea. She just knew this didn't involve scissors. Or did it? Well, there were no scissors around so it probably didn't. She did a movement and hoped that was right, biting her thumb nail as she did. |

" Daddy's girl, I see," The hag said. The woman said she wasn't in a hurry, but based on her explanation she was. She better not be playing with the hag, because Madame Hildegard could still do what she deems appropriate.
The hag took the deck and spread the cards on top of her table. After so, she looked up at the woman. " Ask a question, pull three cards and place them, faced downwards in front of you." Clock was ticking if the woman wanted to go home...

Clock was ticking if the woman wanted to go home... Meghan bit her lip as she thought of a question. There were so many things she could ask, and every question seemed to burn in her brain. She could ask about dating, marriage, children, career plans. Eww, those were boring questions. She needed something exciting to ask. She wanted her question to be memorable.
Although she had to know, could you really buy those tarot cards? She would actually try to learn how to do the readings. Or did ladies like the Gypsy hag not give their own readings? Did they not want to know the future after reading it for so man others, or did they just get bored of doing the readings? She would have to ask.
Wait, she had something to be doing right now. She had to work on her focus. What was a really cool question to ask? It couldn't be something that everyone asked, and it had to be something she really wanted to know. Those were her two requirements.
She heard the hustle of patrons walking around and shuffled in her seat. This was harder than she thought. Marriage? Nah, everyone asked something like that.Career plans? still a question everyone seemed to ask. Maybe she could ask if she was going to find herself a boyfriend soon. OR was that desperate. Whatever.
"Will I find the right guy soon?" Ugh! Everyone seemed to ask that. Whatever, it was asked, and genuine, and she worded it differently. She then did as she was told, and put three cards face down in front of her. Again she squirmed, but this time with excitement. And for the record, she had chosen to let the Daddy's girl comment go. |

Which was good, because there were certain things that you could only get down there. Such as a fortune telling. Which was rather ridiculous when one thought about it, but then again, a lot of the things about Britain's wizarding community were a bit ridiculous. Why should they hide away the fortune teller in the dark alley? Just because she was a hag? Well, the scare would probably do some children some good.
Anyway, Roxanne approached The Starry Prophesier, knocked lightly on the counter and waited to be waited on, looking at wares for sale while she was at it.

The hag heard enough of those love things. Her last customer had a similar question. If that's what this lady wanted, then okay. She received a stare for a while before finally going back to the deck.
She flipped one of the cards of the lady. The first one. " It says yes, you will find the right guy." Happy endings. Whatever. The hag flipped the second one. " You won't find him now. Not yet." Patience was required, and the hag had already noted this lady couldn't do that after her experience today. The hag finally flipped the last card. " However you will suffer too much consequences before finding him. Too much consequences." The hag had a small smirk. What could these consequences be? She wanted to know.
And she was done with the lady. " Anymore questions?" In case she wanted another reading. Quote:

" What brings a lady like you here today, dear?" Another reading? As always.

But, she also knew it wasn't wise to push her luck when she didn't have to, so she let it go. "I would like a rune reading, please." she said, holding out the appropriate amount of galleons. Roxanne knew those were the most accurate, seeing as they were most tied in with magic. And she wasn't up for inaccuracies and technicalities. Nope. She wanted to know the answer to her question straight up.

"What brings a lady like you here today, dear?" Another reading? As always. Meghan sat for a moment with her head down. Consequences? Why did she have to face consequences? She wasn't planning on being a martyr, and she didn't want to end up lonely. Yet somehow she couldn't ask more questions about love. Whether it be that love remained an overused topic, or that she wanted to know about something else was unknown. However, she did have more question in mind and consequently, that the question that came out of her mouth.
"We'll, I've always wanted to know if I was adopted or not?" It came out more as a whisper than actual conversation, and Meghan sat certain that The Gypsy Hag could not hear it.
However, it was the truth, and the truth must be known. Ever since she was act kid she knew something was off. The hair didn't match that of he parents, and everything about their personalities seemed different. However, she was told that it had something to do with genetics, which sometimes messed up and gave them a 'little blessing' like her.
Science class backed up her parents claims, and she had found evidence to prove it, but she had also found evidence for the opposite, and in her objective opinion, that was quite enough. But was she ready to know the answer? And what was she going to do when she knew. Whatever. Those were questions for later.

"Ask a question."
So, was the hag supposed to be expecting another question? The woman should know that she was not a patient hag. But when she heard a soft whisper coming from the woman's mouth, the hag looked at her. "You were saying, dear?" The hag wasn't absent-minded. She knew the woman said something, only that it was too soft to be heard. Hmm, should she say it again? She wasn't sure she wanted the question answered, and if the little hand on her watch was any indication, she needed to get home. Her dad was already probably calling the cops and the FBI, as well as persistently checking with all of her friends to ask if she was with them. Sigh. The trials and tribulations of living with your dad as an adult. Unless she said she got caught up in something (work, daddy,of course) and asked something quickly, then running home as fast as her leather ballet flats would carry her. She wasn't sure how long she wanted to stick around this place anyway, seeing as the hag was known to be impatient and probably had other things to do. Oh well. You only live once, right? Unless you get eaten by a gypsy hag after dark. Meghan felt a shiver up her spine.
"um, I'm sorry, but I wanted to ask if my mother was like my mother. Not my mother like is she taking care of me, but like did she give birth to me my mother." Okay, so that was a run on sentence. As she talked, Meghan played with the metal band of her watch, studying the aluminum as it reflected in the moonlight. She studied her silver nail polish as the sparkles reflected with the moonbeams. This was her tell, her way of showing that she was nervous. Like how some girls play with their hair, the blond eighteen year old studied shiny things.
"I mean, if you have time. If you're closing up or something then I can just go. I can always come back tomorrow and ask." Yeah, that actually sounded more pathetic in her head. If that was even possible. "Although, I'd like my reading now. It is important." Wow, rude. She wasn't winning this one. |

If she was in a hurry, she could leave now but then she shouldn't forget to pay otherwise possible consequences could happen to her. She did not like that, the hag could tell.
But she had another reading to do. The hag gave the decks back to the woman. " Shuffle and cut again, just like what you did earlier," the hag told the woman. Hurry up... maybe daddy was looking for his little princess.

Even though she knew how to do the action, she still didn't know what the word entirely meant. Cutting the cards? Reminded her of something violent involving scissors.
However, despite her lack of vocabulary skills, the shuffling and cutting thing wasn't that hard. It made her feel like she was a professional card player too, which was pretty much the weirdest and simultaneously coolest thing EVER.
"The cards are shuffled and cut ma'am." It sounded like such a funny thing to actually say out loud. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Alessandra (Alli) Whitt First Year | Tricksy Hobbitses Nicole smirked as she walked towards the cart that held the Gypsy Hag. She remembered when she was a kid and heard stories about the Hag eating children. She would always pull her father past the cart at the fastest speed her tiny body would allow. Or if that wasn't possible for some reason, she would yelp and hide herself in her fathers jacket. But not anymore.
Actually to be honest, she was quite interested in what the Hag did. Which is why she was here today. Why was she in a black hood however? Because she told her friends that she didn't believe in this stuff and she wasn't going to let them find her.
So she walked up to the cart and snickered to herself as she remembered the time she was dared to touch it.
This whole event happened one morning when her dad took her and her friend to Knockturn alley. And because her dad had to go meet someone, he left them alone on the sidewalk for an hour. Nicole remembered that she kept staring at the cart, exhaling deeply every time she did so as though getting rid of something. Her friend caught notice and quickly dared her to go touch the cart. Which she did, pushing through the crowd and creeping up in her little Mary Jane shoes. She remembered having no breath because she was exhaling continously, but she touched the cart with her hand and then took off running. She had to push through people to get back to her friend, but it was a huge accomplishment on her part.
Anyway, Nicole stood and waited, wondering what her future held (she was getting a reading) |

She maybe have been ugly but her sense of hearing was not to be questioned. The lady outside the cart had caught the her eye, which made the Hag smirk a bit. Another customer, perhaps? Who forgot to knock. Business was running slow these days anyway.
" Come in." She wasn't waiting all day.

"Come in." She wasn't waiting all day. Nicole walked up the steps and into the cart, imagining a younge version of her doing the same in her stupid dress and Mary Janes. Back when her hair was curly and her baby teeth just falling out.
"Hello?" That came out as more of a question. Grin! Which Nicole did, though it felt awkward against her cold cheeks.
The girl took a breath of somehow fresh air and gained some confidence throughout her soul. Her brown eyes widened and seemed to have a shine about them. She felt ready to lift buildings and conquer small armies. Okay, so maybe that was a bit of an overstatement, but needless to say, the breath of fresh air was strangely effective.
"I'm getting a reading, today... please." Again, Nicole imagined her young self with her curly brown hair and brown eyes standing in front of this woman, but she resigned herself to not be as afraid as the child would have been. Not an easy task, and she was sure flecks of fear played at her face. |

It was not a good idea. She gave the woman a look, which served as her warning. But it would be fun to have such a pretty young thing as a treat.
Once the woman came inside the cart, she gestured her towards the almost-broken chair, probably was starting to have splinters, in front of her table. " What kind of reading do you wish for, my dear?" the Hag asked.

"What kind of reading do you wish for, my dear?" the Hag asked. Nicole sat in the splintery chair, wondering if she was going to regret that when she started pulling splinters from the back of her legs. There were different kinds of readings? Ummm. Was a future reading good, or did this bring up different kinds? Obviously she knew less about the Gypsy Hag than she had previously thought.
"A reading of the future?" Upon further idea, she thought the words "future reading sounded too.. science fiction for a place like this. She had watched Muggle Movies before and she didn't want to reference them in front of a respected woman like this. Wait, was she respected? Well, Nicole assumed she was. Anyway...
"Oh, please, may I have a reading of the future!" At least she remembered her manners, no matter how late it was. |

The Hag never expected for someone to be this dim-witted at all. Her yellow eyes continued to stare at the woman. " My dear, when I mean what kind of reading, it means in what way do you want me to predict your future," she said. " There's palm reading, runes reading, and tarot reading." One more idiotic response, and Madame Hildegard would be more than honored to lay a finger on the lady.

She thought she knew of those things, but there must've been a missed connection between her brain and her mouth. Didn't Muggles call those things brainfarts?
The question remained and she didn't want to keep the Hag waiting. Call it childish, but she was still somewhat afraid of the woman now. She knew she could throw the money on the table and leave anytime, but another part of her knew that she had to stay. Whether it be to appease her stupid friend or to prove the younger her wrong, something had to be done.
"Tarot reading." It was the one that interested Nicole the most to be honest, even when she heard her dad mumble about it all being mumbo-jumbo. She kind of liked the idea that a dec of cards could predict the rest of your life. And because she was semi-spiteful and didn't like the Hag's tone of voice, she didn't even add a please. Nicole was really bad at the whole being mean thing. |

Honestly, was this really how this generation now act like? Anyway, the Hag opened her drawer and retrieved her deck of tarot cards. Oh... wasn't it dusty? Nobody had came for a tarot reading before this lovely dear paid a visit. The Hag blew the dust off the cards, and the cloud of dust went towards the young girl. She flashed a smile with missing teeth at her customer.
Then she handed the deck to the girl. " Shuffle the cards, my dear. Then cut it once, and then place the cards of my desk." Go on.

Marcus spotted the little cart, and recognized it immediately. It was Madame Hildegard's cart, one of his favorites as a boy (of course, his father never allowed him near the cart unless he was present durning their summer holidays. It all stopped after Cara was born. The twenty-two year old remembered the first day he got a rune set, and it was from that very cart. He bowed his head at the Madame, "Madame, I wish to purchase 'the Witches Tarot set'" he was amazed by the lady, despite of her green skin, and old age, she held a sense of wisdom that many nowadays didn't hold at all. He knew it would be only 3 galleons but gave her ten anyways, in a small, silken black pouch.

The hag looked up at the young man and grinned at him, showing off her teeth which were missing one or two. And he wished to purchase a Witches Tarot Kit? That was something new. All the other customers asked for a reading, except this one. Very rare in this place, yes. " Hang on, dear," she said and went to get a kit of the witches tarot the young gentleman had wished for.
" Here you go, dear," the hag handed it to him. " 3 galleons." She took the black pouch from the young man and poured its contents onto her table. That was not three galleons, but ten. Someone did not know how to count, apparently.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Alessandra (Alli) Whitt First Year | Tricksy Hobbitses Mackenna Bubber in Knockturn Alley - Polyvore
Oh, the Gyspy cart! With a quick flash of impulse behind her brown eyes, Mackenna decided that this was where she was making her first stop today. Mostly because her father never let her within five feet of the cart unless he was present and watching her extremely closely. Something about an old wives tale that the Hag ate children. Whatever, the black haired girl wasn't going to be scared. That was for children. And she was nineteen, AKA not a child anymore.
Tucking her jeans further into the leather boots that didn't match, the tan girl smiled and walked forward and right to the woman's cart. She might only be medium sized and not very intimidating, but Mackenna was normally feisty and generally unafraid. Pursing her pink lips together, she smiled at the cart and waited patiently, or at least as patiently as she could. Hopefully the Hag could forgive a little foot tapping. Maybe if it was to a rhythm? Remembering her favorite song as a child, she tapped her foot slightly to that song, not trying to be rude, but needing some tune to tap.

| cœur perfide | super prosecutor | Ameh's Squishy Dmitry normally wouldn't be walking around Knockturn Alley, although his education at Durmstrang meant he had less against Dark Wizards and Witches than some, but he'd heard that the robe shop down here was the best. He was just about to enter Twilfit and Tattings when the cart caught his attention. It reminded him of the Roma he'd visited once or twice as a child and his curiosity led him towards it.
Dmitry gave all the products a cursory glance, lingering longer on the rune stone sets, perhaps he'd buy them for Aleksandr. His cousin always had been fascinated by them and would surely welcome another set. What he really wanted though was a reading. "How much is a palm or taro reading, madame?" Dmitry asked, after scanning the board of prices and not seeing them mentioned.

| Wibbly Wobbly | Timey Wimey Alex had heard many tales of the Starry Prophesier despite just moving from Spain sp he trudged through the Knckturn Alley. He held his haead up and walked in his suit without a wrinkle on it. He had just came from meeting the gorgeous Jasmine at the cafe and he was starting his new job at the ministry in a few days, after he got settled in at his new place. Alexalanso glanced at the menu and stroked his stubble. He glanced around before glancing at the menu again.

Dmitry asked, after scanning the board of prices and not seeing them mentioned. Business had been slow from what the Hag could tell. Many faces in the alley but not enough stopping by the spare a few galleons with her. This wasn't the right life for a Gypsy and if it continued she would speak with the newer man. Customers were the only way to make money.
Just as she stepped from her little wagon she saw a man approach. He didn't have the look of the alley but a customer was a customer. "The palm will cost you 9 galleons but the Tarot will cost you 12." They might have been worth more but she was a generous Hag in her old age, or so she would tell everyone. "Which will you be having, Dear?" Quote:

The hag watched him approach, wary of the potential galleons he had hidden within that fancy suit of his. The confidence on him was telling but that might not have been a good thing...for him. Black eyes followed his every move until he turned his attention to the menu. "What can I do for you?"
