The Starry Prophesier Some ways down Knockturn alley there is an old cart owned by a romanian gypsy hag. From the cart two wooded steps come down, and there is a table with two ratty chairs on their side. Above the cart a sign hovers that says The Starry Prophesier. It has been said that Madame Hildegard, the old white haired gypsy hag, with green skin who owned the cart was known to have tasted the flesh of children and muggle borns who came to her cart. Her hook nose was punctuated with a large black hairy mole and her yellow eyes can petrify you if you stare at them too long. Here you may purchase all sort of dark magic divination items and be it Palms, Tarots or Runes, this is the place to get your future read.ooc: Remember that Snitchseeker site rules and the Diagon Alley rules apply at all times. Be careful how you play here. Be respectful of others and understand that measures might just be taken IC if trouble erupts. "Madame..." Atropos said inclining his head to the hag, "Lovely as always... I trust business is going well." It better be anyway... He wasn't going to have her peddling her wares without a good profit he could benefit off of. He waved his hand and left towards the pub. |
Rafe wasn't at all scared to walk into Knockturn Alley, if anything it felt like he was back in Bulgaria. It was dark and gloomy and very much mysterious. When he heard that Madame Hildegard had set up shop here. She was legendary in his homeland and his father knew of her very well. "Good day to you," Rafe said in Romanian. "I hope business is going well for you dear lady." |
With her cloak fully covering the length of her body and her face, Zoey silently approached the cart. Was she scared? Yes. Should she have been down here? Probobly not, but that hadn't stopped her so far. Seeing as the rest of London had pretty much sucked already, this place couldn't be any worse. The sound of her heart pounded in her head. Just the adrenaline, she told herself. Nobody can hear me. or see her face for that matter, just a precaution but it was probobly a good idea. The girl tapped her fingers on her leg nervously beneath the cloak and taking a deep breath. "Hello ma'am." Zoey said, just loud enough to hear. Her fingers grasped her wand reflexively, then let it go. There's nothing to be afraid of. |

Or it would be. The smell of children was in the air. Quote:
And the boy who spoke to her in that language! A hiss escaping her mouth, she gestured the boy closer with a bony finger. "Come closer, child. Madame Hildegard is not as young as she used to be." Quote:
Now if only that man she despised so much would drop by. Madame Hildegard had a crystal ball with his name written all over it. "Child." she said, her yellow eyes looking the cloaked girl up and down. "What is it you want?" |

Zoey gripped her wand again, this time not letting go. Should she run? Probobly, but she had some business to take care of. "A Moonstone Rune set ma'am." she said cooly. She silently picked out three galleons from the inside pocket of her cloak and held them tightly. She would get her runes, and get out-- simple. And anybody that got in her way would be sorry they did. The girl's eyes were set with determination, fear was long gone. Just like hunting. Yes, daddy had raised her right. Maybe England wasn't so different from Alaska. In any case, she was getting her runes and leaving-- no exceptions. |

"I said good day to you miss and I hope business is going well for you," Rafe continued in Romanian. "Did you not once come from a distant land that spoke like this or I'm a mistaken?" The half-werewolf tilted his head and had a quizzical look on his face. |
Ellie hesitated. Should she just walk away? The manky old cart was a bit dodgy looking... and smelling. But she was intrigued by it. She read the floating sign. "The Starry Prophesier." She mumbled. Interested, Ellie carefully walked up to the cart and peeked inside, but saw no one. "Hello? Anyone here?" She called out, trying to hide her nervousness. |
Margery had stumbled upon knockturn alley, and within her reach was everything to make her wildest dreams come true. She was nervous, but extatic. She walked up to the shop keeper, Margery is very well at acting as an adult she was short but very sophisticated and mature, and asked for one 100mm crystal ball, one scrying mirror, one scrying bowl, one bloodstone rune set, one witches tarot kit, and one brass dowsing set. She was very much prepared to spend whatever she had to. |

He had, however, been listening to what Mr. Durmstrang guy was saying. Famous wandmaker? Interning? Huh, he didn't take Nik as a wandmaker type. Perhaps more into some business that tested his physicality. "A difficult job." he nodded, looking around to where they ended up. "I wouldn't have zought you az a wandmaker zough." Grin. "Which wandmaker are you interning wiz?" Where DID they end up? The Starry Prophesier? Hmph, that sounded like a bunch of divination stuff to him. Not a fan. |
Milton was on a very important mission. He needed to get to the apothecary in Knockturn Alley. They were selling a lodestone, that would be very useful in controlling the unfortunate magnetic after-effect in one of his potions. He held his head high as he stepped off the safety of the path of Diagon Alley and into the darkness of Knockturn Alley. Looks were everything down here. He didn't want to appear as out-of-place as he felt. As he was heading to the apothecary he passed an odd cart where dowsing rods caught his eye. Those would be useful. The last thing he needed was for his potion to blow up again because he was unable to tell if the magnetic property was too high. He stopped in front of the cart deciding that he'd need to get the rods too while he was down here. |

They had reached the bottom of the steps and instead of Noel running into the first shop they passed, the French guy continued to walk through the Alley. It was a lot dirtier and smellier now that they were down there all the way, and the people were far shiftier, but no way was Nik thinking about turning around. He actually had things to do and just passing the shop windows, a few things might have caught his eye. And no. He was not thinking about his reflection. Dodging a few more of those shifties, Nikolai turned his attention back to Noel. He'd rather not make eye contact with anyone else..not that he wanted to make eye contact with Noel either.. He nodded his head at the difficult job comment; obviously Noel didn't realize he was having a go at him. And it seemed they both thought the same of eachother. "I think I surprised a lot of people with that choice." he shrugged. "Konstantin Fedorov. He made our wands." As in the Durmstrang Champions. Where were they? "Looking to buy something here?" Snicker. |

It took only seconds for the woman to walk around her cart at the sound of approaching feet, and lucky for her, because business had been slow, the person had stopped. But being a hag of her age, she was not happy about it. She didn't want him to stand around her cart all day and just stare at her merchandise. She wanted him gone, and she didn't care what Atropos had to say about it. Picking up one of the dowsing rods she noticed him looking at, she began prodding him in the chest with it. "You! What do you want?" SPOILER!!: Roselyn and Destiny The prodding of the first man stopped momentarily as two more decided to show their faces in front of her cart. Could none of them see that the green skinned woman did not want them there? And how could she miss the grin on the first man's face and the snickering coming from the second? She had been stared at, laughed at and teased all her life, she was not going to stand there, in front of her cart and do nothing about it. Prodding the first man once again, she picked up one of her crystal balls and raising it above her head, she narrowed her yellow eyes dangerously. "What do you want?" |

"You are lucky zen." If this wandmaker was so famous, he must be good. It was always good to have the best education. Although...nothing beat the French wandmakers. That was just a FACT. ...What? Stare. "Non, I juzt..." Erm... SPOILER!!: ze gypzy hag He just couldn't finish his sentence now. Eying the crystal ball in this...woman's?...hand, Noel glanced to the Durmstrang company he currently had out of the corner of his eyes before fiddling with the pockets of his jeans. The other shifty people in this place were looking a lot better now... "We..." Umm. Perhaps it was the yellow eyes that had all the words die before they could even make it out of his mouth. Or maybe it was just because he was afraid of breathing the same air as this person was for fear that he'd end up looking like her. It. Thing. "Nikolai 'ere waz juzt wanting to look at zose...zingz." Those things there. The ones he was pointing to. The shiny crystal balls orb things. Oui? Nik? |
SPOILER!!: Noel & the Crazy Hag Woman Yes, Nikolai thought himself lucky as well. He had his whole life planned out already, and it was that much better because he had his whole life planned out with Mia. Everything was perfect and he would have boasted about it, but seeing as they were standing in the middle of Knockturn Alley, in front of a rather strange cart, he decided it best not to. He did give the French guy a rare smile, though, before turning his attention back to the cart. The cart that Noel wasn't going to buy anything from. Then why did they stop there, of all places? He had opened his mouth to ask, but instead, he had come face to face with the ugliest woman he had ever seen. She had green skin! Screwing his face up a bit, he took a step back as the Hag raised a crystal ball over her head. She wasn't planning on throwing it, was she? Surely not at HIM? Glancing at Noel from the corner of his eyes as he began to explain what they were doing there, Nikolai was tempted to rip the crystal ball from the woman's claws and throw it at him. Why was he being blamed? He wasn't the one that stopped! "Actually." Nik finally piped up after glancing at the things Noel was pointing to. He did not want those! He didn't even know what they were. "My friend Noel here was just wondering if he could owl you sometime. Says he likes your eyes." |

"Err... one of those would be lovely. Two. I mean, two. I couldn't do much with one..." he stuttered out. He then stood up straight after reaching a safe distance away. He cleared his throat. Appearances are everything down here. he reminded himself. "I mean one set. I would like one set of dowsing rods." Yeah... that could have gone better. Did he still have time to turn around and leave? |
Ara walked into The Starry Prophesier intent on acquiring her ancient rune set and crystal ball, so that she could return to her slytherin counterparts in Diagon Alley for some quality time before returning to the manor... |
The Hag apologizes to the other folk, she will come back to you later. ;) Quote:
Sometimes the Hag wished her cart was even closer to the steps that led down into Knockturn Alley. She might have a better chance of catching one of those children who thought they were brave enough to venture down, but in reality, they were terrified and changed their minds at the last moment. But then, there were a few that actually were brave enough, and it seemed like today was one of those days. The smell of her brought the green-skinned woman bustling out of her cart, and stopping right in front of the girl, she narrowed her yellow eyes. "If it isn't a person-child." she tsked, "What brings you down here, in Knockturn Alley?" The Hag began to back away, closer to her cart. If the girl wanted to talk, she would have to follow. |
Orchid looked in the cart and on the table seeing immediately what she needed, an Ancient Rune Set. As she walked towards what appeared to be the owner, Rune set in hand she noticed some sort of mirror like object. "Hello, I'd like to purchase this." She said to the store keeper, and tried to hold her tongue, but her curiousity got the better of her - again. "I'm sorry, but what are those mirror-like objects? What are they used for?" |
Jack knew straight away he shouldn't be here. He wasn't the type to do stupid things just because it might turn out fun and you might be fine, and maybe you might meet some interesting people. Well, he was sixteen now, starting his first year at Hogwarts, and he wanted to know all he could about, well, everything. That's the reason he was here. Of course, having been only just introduced to the wizarding world, Jack didn't realise that in certain places, certain people had a certain status. Such as muggle borns, like him. But of course, he didn't know that. |
Brittania walked up to the counter and said, "Hello, I would like to purchase a moonstone runes set." |
Elizabeth pulled her cloak around her tighter. Even though she is a pureblood witch she still gets creeped out by knockturn alley. She walked up to the old cart and looked at the scrying bowls. She made sure her hood was down, leaving her face in shadow. She didnt want to be seen here. |

Her green face peered around the cart and her long bony fingers tapped on the wood of the cart as she took in the prospective buyer. "Is there something I can help you with my dear?" |
