This was definitely happening.

It wasn't something Oliver was prepared for and he had a feeling it was the same for Esme.

He took one look at the girlfriend and felt bad. He felt embarrassed for his reaction (though he knew other guys would have reacted worst) because she looked as if she were ready to burst into tears. Olly pulled her gently into a hug.

"We'll get through this,''
he assured her and wanting to assure himself as much. He inhaled the scent of her hair. "This just means that I'll have to take extra good care of you.'' Just think... a little Esme or Oliver...

WhittyBitty 05-16-2018 04:38 AM

As Olly hugged her, Esme sighed and wrapped her arms around him. It helped calm her down; he was always really good at making her feel better. She really did love him with all her heart, and she knew that his words were true even if it was something that she did not feel ready for. They would be more prepared when the time came and everything would work out.

"We will, and you will be an amazing father." Esme did not doubt that for a second. "You always take the best care of me." Even though she was an independent person, she loved it. From Olly it was different.

FearlessLeader19 05-17-2018 11:13 PM

Olly could feel Esme calm down in his arms. Truth be told, though, he was a wreck inside. There was no way he was ready for this. Isn't it worth the try to make this work? that voice in his head asked. When he thought of it, it could be the worth. Still, the poor young man was very nervous about the next few months.

An amazing father?

Olly wasn’t so sure about that but Esme said that with such confidence that he wanted to believe her. "I hope so.'' He kissed her on the forehead. "I always will, Esme.'' He paused a little, now thinking of their respective families. "Did you tell your parents and brother?''

WhittyBitty 05-22-2018 07:32 PM

"I know so, Olly." It was going to be a struggle for sure, no question about that, but Esme knew without a doubt that they would figure things out and it would work out in the end. At least that was what she was telling herself now, while he was calming her down. Who knew what would happen later, when anxiety could flare up... "I know you do, and you'll take great care of the baby as well." She smiled. They both would.

At his question, she shook her head. "No. I wanted you to know first. Well, second since Juno obviously is aware..." Since she had gone to her and all. But there was no way that she wanted the others to know before Olly.

FearlessLeader19 05-27-2018 03:01 PM

Or her would try his best to take care of them both. This made him think of his art projects coming up. He had all the more reasons for his pieces to be a success at the exhibition. If he sold them and got persons interested in his work then that would mean more galleons for them and the new addition to the family.

Tentatively, he rested the palm of his hand on Esme's belly. Naturally he couldn't feel anything yet but it was a wonder that they had created a tiny human. Or rather, one was being on its way to being created. "You should tell them. Dad and Naida will be thrilled.'' Not to mention the rest of his family.

WhittyBitty 05-31-2018 11:17 PM

Putting his hand on her belly caused Esme to grin even though she knew that there obviously wasn't anything to feel there. Yet. That would come later. As it was, she put her hand on top of his and squeezed it gently. "Everyone will be thrilled, I think. We should tell them all together." Her dad she wasn't as sure about as her mother, since he could be rather tough and intimidating, but he really liked Oliver and loved her with all his heart, so she was sure that he would be okay with everything in the end; he'd be so excited to have a grandchild.

"Have you sorted out all your upcoming projects, Olly? I'm so excited to see them, and we can get plenty of money from it." And of course she had a job as well, one that she did while also attending school.

FearlessLeader19 06-04-2018 11:08 PM

It was difficult to not allow his mood to change. Now that he had gotten over the shock, Olly was actually beginning to look forward to the next few months and the little human that would follow. He smiled down at Esme as their hands touched. "We should. Do we start with your family or mine?'' Though truth be told, he was a little nervous about revealing this news to Maddox.

"Yes, almost done, baby. I bet I'll have buyer for these pieces in no time.'' Olly felt very positive about this even though he couldn't explain why. "Good thing we save. Money is something we don't have to worry about.'' The guy hoped that someday soon he and Esme could buy their own house. Who wanted to live in an apartment for all their lives?

WhittyBitty 06-11-2018 04:19 PM

Hmm. That was a good question. Esme hadn't really thought of that. She bit her lip. "What would you be more comfortable with?" She knew that Olly could get anxious, and she also knew that he might be nervous about telling her dad because even though they were really close now, the man was still SCARY. Not that she thought he would do anything horrible... but STILL. She wanted her boyfriend to be at ease as much as possible. Yep.

Esme smiled. Even though this was scary, she was relieved that they were talking about things and making sure everything would be okay. It made her calmer. "I can't want to see them. Maybe I can even help you." Like with basic things. Obviously she wouldn't paint for him... but it was still nice to HELP if he needed anything. "I'm happy because I would hate to have to ask my parents for money." She made a face.

FearlessLeader19 06-14-2018 11:50 PM

Olly was silent for a good while at the question. He carefully considered it. Of course, he wanted to do this right; tell their families in a proper face to face manner not over the phone or text messages. "Your family,'' he said finally. "It's best that I get Maddox yelling at me out of the way first.'' At least Esme's mother would be more accepting. He hoped...

"You can definitely continue helping, baby. You're already a lot better at this anyway.'' Besides, she was always his inspiration and that was a big help enough already. "Don't worry. It'll never come to that.'' Olly hooked a finger under Esme's chin to raise her face towards him. "How are you feeling, anyway? Somehow I doubt you'll want to be resting most of the time.''

WhittyBitty 06-20-2018 08:00 PM

Her family. Right. Esme nodded and gave her boyfriend a small smile. They could definitely do that. The smile faded with what he said next, however. "I don't think my dad will yell at you, Olly. For one thing I wouldn't let him." And her mother wouldn't let him either, surely. She had calmed down a lot since she was younger, and had the effect of doing the same with Maddox. Yep, things were probably not going to go badly. Maybe she was just being optimistic though...

"Oh, good! I can't wait." She beamed as he held her chin up. "We would never let it come to that even though I know they would gladly help us. And I don't even know what rest is." That was a joke, obviously, but really... he was right about that. "I'm doing okay right now. How about you?" Because that mattered a lot to her.

FearlessLeader19 06-22-2018 12:01 AM

Any other pride filled guy would have objected to their girlfriend defending him to her father but not Olly. It was that he was a coward; it was more of the fact that he and Esme were a team and they tackled situations together. "I know you wouldn't. I can already picture his angry face.'' He smiled despite the grim prospect of facing Maddox. "It'll be smoothed over though.''

She looked so much happier now and Olly was relieved about this. A stressed Esme would mean a stressed baby. "I'll see to it that you do rest.'' Yes, he was going to take care of her for as long as it took. Nine months anyway... "Do you want to help me finish up this painting?'' He rather liked it when they did paintings jointly.

WhittyBitty 06-26-2018 06:57 PM

Huh. Her dad's angry face was something that Esme didn't really want to picture because it was something that she had seen quite a few times over the years. Not that he was horribly strict or anything, but she and Juno had gotten into their fair share of trouble over the years. River had as well, obviously but then he really could be a pain to deal with no matter how much she loved him. "Exactly. And your dad wouldn't be angry, would he?" He didn't really seem the type to be, but really she did not know for sure; she just wanted to be reassured because she did like his dad a lot.

Of course he would help her rest, Esme didn't doubt that for a second. He also seemed to be calmer now, and that was a GOOD thing. "I know you will. I'll let you help me, and I'll try not to get too cranky." She laughed, though she really had no idea how bad her mood would be. Hopefully not terrible? "Oh, yes! I really want to paint."

FearlessLeader19 06-28-2018 11:56 PM

His dad be mad? "No way. And Naida... she would be thrilled. I can already see her wanting to play with the baby all day every day." Everyone was sure to have their hands filled with him or her in a few months. At least he didn't have to worry at all about anger from either his dad or sister. Not from Lima or Juno either.

Oliver sighed resignedly. "Does this mean you can get even crankier?" Because he was already used to her usual crankiness almost each month. And suddenly he had an idea. "What about if you and I do a few paintings together for the exhibit?'' he asked. "It could be the two of us getting the attention and not just me.'' Because he loved to share everything with Esme.

WhittyBitty 07-03-2018 04:10 AM

Even though Esme had been sure that Olly's dad wouldn't be mad, it was still reassuring to hear that from him. "That's a relief because I really like them and I would hate for them to be mad about this." And he was totally right about Naida. "Between her, the parents, and my siblings the baby is going to be SO spoiled." Just as long as it didn't get TOO out of hand, it would be okay...

Esme rolled her eyes, but she was amused. "I don't get THAT cranky. You should see how Juno gets sometimes. Poor Leon has to deal with that." Really, it wasn't too bad or anything, but Juno had their dad's temper and it could be quite something. "I love that idea!" She was so happy to share it with Olly.

FearlessLeader19 07-08-2018 04:50 PM

“I’m so sure you won’t have to worry about dad being mad. He’s going to be thrilled... a grandchild to play with.’’ Who knows, maybe this would mean that he would get to see more of his dad and sister here in Britain. It certainly took a hit on him emotionally when he missed them but they were all the way in South Africa. He laughed. “Oh yeah. I have no doubt about that. Juno and Naida will lead the way in spoiling her. Or him.’’

Girls and their crankiness/ bad moods. It was something Olly had only been accustomed to thanks to Naida. It had somewhat prepared him for full time living with Esme. “Great! We can do a set on horses? Unicorns?’’ He was leaving this up to her.

WhittyBitty 07-26-2018 07:35 PM

Olly's words had Esme completely reassured; now she had nothing to worry about on that front. Of course there would be other complications and challenges - she wasn't naive enough to think otherwise, and neither was he. "Then we can see him and Naida more and that will be amazing." She knew just how much he missed them even if they did come to visit and vice versa. South Africa WAS far from London. "We will run out of room in the apartment." She giggled, picturing it in her head. Even if it was an exaggeration, it was still a funny image in her head.

Hmm. Good question. Esme bit her lip and thought about it for a moment. "How about both?"

FearlessLeader19 07-28-2018 11:34 PM

Seeing Naida and his dad more often would mean a lot to Olly. While he hoped this could happen, there still remained the fact that work could keep them both in South Africa or just the simple fact that they might like it there more. Whatever happened, would happen. Esme's next words made him think. "Our own house then? We should think about that.'' Having their own house would be so much better; they'd at least be stable in that aspect of their lives and for that little human in Esme's tummy.

"The mundane and the wizarding worlds collide. I like it.'' Really, his Esme came up with the best ideas. This was why their paintings were going to be a smash. He could feel it in his bones. "Are you up for getting started now or do you want to rest? Eat?''

WhittyBitty 08-03-2018 03:12 AM

Their own house? That was certainly something that Esme had wanted ONE DAY, but could it happen sooner? Hopefully, but it was hard to say. If they had help from her parents, it would happen no question, but they didn't want that. They wanted to get by on their own. She nodded. "I think that's more than possible... at some point. With all the money coming in from your artwork and then from my business when it's up and running, we should be able to." But for the moment all she had was a part-time job and that was far from enough.

Beam. Olly liked Esme's idea and that made her happy. "Hmm. I'd say to eat and paint at the same time, but I guess food comes first." And also maybe a nap. She wasn't sure yet.

FearlessLeader19 08-05-2018 05:12 PM

Olly nodded. “We can do this on our own.’’ He was saying this not because he had a big ego or anything. No, it was more to the fact that he wanted to do this on his own; on their own. “After all, we do save quite a bit. Maybe we can go house hunting soon?’' Maybe they could even get a house by paying installments each month. That would be great if they did.

There was a laugh from him. “Of course. Don’t ever come between you and food.’’ Olly took one of her hands. “Come on, baby. You do realise you’ll have to eat for two now, right? This is where you’ll put on the weight.’’

Not that Oliver minded.

WhittyBitty 08-07-2018 07:18 PM

On their own. Yes. Esme loved that Olly was just like her in this way; they both liked to do things for themselves and not rely on other people. Well, they relied on each other, but that was different and okay. "I think I'd like that. And maybe we could look at cottages too?" She wasn't sure why, but the idea of a cottage appealed to her though of course she would have been happy with a house as well. It just would be really nice to look around is all.

Esme snorted. "At least you didn't have to learn that the hard way." Really she was joking because she would never do anything to him if he got between her and food. She just might not be as inclined to share with him. Nope, she DEFINITELY wouldn't be. "I'm going to be huge." She didn't really care though, so she just giggled at the thought.

FearlessLeader19 08-11-2018 10:36 PM

Cottages?

Esme was very much springing another surprise on him. Oliver had not expected that suggestion but having a cottage sounded cozy. He suddenly and briefly had a vision of their house near to a beach. It seemed very appealing so he nodded with a smile. “We’ll look into that too.’’

He grinned. “Luckily I learnt it quickly else I would have learnt the hard way.’’ Olly was going to make her something and then they would get to doing their painting. He laughed. “As big as a whale. You know what that means? There will be more of you to love.’’

WhittyBitty 08-17-2018 07:50 PM

Oh, wow. Olly was open to looking at cottages. Not that Esme thought he would be OPPOSED to it or anything, it was just nice to know that it was a possibility. "We can look for a nice cozy one not too far from the city. It would be less money than a house in London." Not to say that a house was out of the question or anything...

Esme snorted. "I'd still share my food with you." Just not as often and less of it. But he could still have some, especially the stuff that she didn't really want to eat herself. Tastes could REALLY go off, and hers sure would. "You always know the right thing to say, Olly. Now get me some food." She was being silly because she could get her own. She was a capable girl.

FearlessLeader19 08-18-2018 08:11 PM

It would be quite cheaper and not because he wanted to skimp on their money was the only reason Olly was open to a cottage. In addition to wanting to keep Esme happy, he was also thinking of how peaceful it would be to be away from the hustle and bustle of a town or city. He would be able to focus more on his paintings and in case of emergencies or when the need arises, they could always Apparate or even use Floo Powder. “We should definitely look at all our options. Then we’ll narrow them down.’’

“Aren’t I the lucky fellow?’’ Olly questioned fondly. He was one of the few Esme would share with. He raised his hand in a smart salute. “On it, my lady.’’ Then he was off to get her a big plate, his mind back on the baby they would be having in months' time. It sent knots of excitement and nerves down in his belly.

WhittyBitty 08-21-2018 04:12 AM

Excitement bubbled inside of Esme. This really was a roller coaster of a day, but she knew that they would get through it all together, and they would have a bigger place of their own soon enough. There was still the matter of telling parents, but that would be addressed soon enough; for now her nerves were calmed. "We can do that soon! And if we don't find anything right away, we can move after the baby is born." Really they would see how things went and everything would wok out in the end.

"You're very lucky," Esme said with a giggle. And so was she because she loved him with all of her heart. He was definitely a catch. Oh. So he WAS going to get her something to eat. That made her grin even though she was only teasing. Happily she followed after him.

Scene 8
Oliver and Esme begin the process of looking for a new place to live.

It might have only been a few days since they had mentioned looking for a new place to live, but that wasn't stopping Esme from beginning to look around. Of course Olly knew about it and was participating as well. Currently she was looking through the newspaper to see what they had listed there, but she also had some fliers around her at the table as well.

Still she was torn about whether a house or a cottage would be better, though her heart was still saying cottage. Of course they would go along with whatever they both loved, since this wasn't JUST about her and his input was just as important. They were such a team.

FearlessLeader19 08-22-2018 05:25 PM

At that moment when Esme was looking at houses, Olly had been out because he had just sealed the deal on a few of his paintings. With the exhibition getting started that night, he was more than optimistic that there would be more sales. He was in an even better mood than usual then as he trumped up the stairs to the apartment, his arms filled with pamphlets.

“Esme?’’ he called as he closed the front door. Within the minute he found her and she was surrounded by the newspaper and flyers. “Hey, baby. I brought some more materials that we can look through.’’ Oliver deposited the pamphlets on the table with the others. “By the way, a few more paintings are sold so we’ve got more money now,’’ he told her as he went to sit beside her.
